How to not have songs duplicates in app remote? I have playlists for my iphone and playlists for my pc. All songs of my iphone are also on my mac. When i use the remote app, it plays everything in double.

Dear all,
I am using itunes to control all my music and i like to use my iphone, or my ipad to control my music with the remote app.
But i have a problem: all the music i have in my iphone count as double play.
To explain everything since the beginning, i personally don't like and don't trust at all the music sync capability of itunes.
So i have my music on my pc, and i load every type of music as a single playlist (ex a Pop-Rock folder, with all artists folders and so on, makes me a Pop-Rock playlist).
For my iphone, i created a iphone music folder, with the same classification.
It means that i don't have all my Pop-Rock music, only a selection. But of course the selected music appears also in my complete music collection.
So in itunes i created a folder playlist named iphone music, with inside one playlist by type of music (exemple : Pop-Rock, which contains some files of my main Pop-Rock collection).
So i do have duplicates in my hard drive. But when i selected the playlists to be shared on home sharing in itunes, i selected only the main playlists, not my iphone playlists! But still, when i look for ACDC artist for example, i should see only what i have on my pc, not what i have also on my iphone.
The result is if i play an album for example Back In Black (i have it full on my hard drive, and full on my iphone too), then every song is displayed in remote app in double, and also played in double:
Here is how it is displayed:
Song 1
Song 1
Song 2
Song 2
So the remote app plays Song 1 one time, then Song 1 (the second Song 1) one time and continues like this to Song 2 etc...
I guess that if i put my selection of songs on my ipad, i will then have everything in triple....
It is very annoying. Is there a way for me to change that? Or for an update to be made (based on ID3 Tag) to not play everything twice or more? It would have an ID3 Tag No Double toggle button.
I don't want to select from my main music to send elements to my iphone as doing that i lost a lot of music multiple times. This way of doing is not safe at all (at least for me).
What is possible to do? Is there room for improvement here (i believe so). Is there a way for me to avoir this very annoying effect?
I would really like to put my music to my iPad2 also, but after i'll have triple play....

Help-incomplete library shows up when I use the remote to play iTunes

I bought a new iMac a few months ago and have enjoyed the luxury of being able to control the music in iTunes via the remote control from across the room. This morning, however, when I tried to do this, I found that only a small portion of the music that is in my library is available to me when I try to play the music using the remote control option. Has anyone else encountered this, and if so, how do I get around it? I've gone back into iTunes using the keyboard and confirmed that the library is still intact, and I've restarted the computer. That's pretty much what I know to do, so now I'm asking for outside input.
The version of iTunes that I'm running is 7.0.1 (7). The only thing I've done recently involving iTunes is that I moved some of my music into a new ipod, but I don't think that would do this.
Any input would be much appreciated.

When i use the safari app it appears in a shaded grey and nothing moves

Also, have you tried powering off your iPad?
Click hold the Sleep /wake button, slide to power off and then start again.

All of a sudden my iPhone 4S keeps shutting the sound off when I use the google app

When I use the google application on my iPhone 4S it shuts the sound off on the hole phone so I have to go into the settings and change the ringer and alerts so that the sounds will work again.

Uninstall the app and reinstall it. If it persists dont use it. simple

ITunes opens up automatically when I use the remote to control VLC!!!

I have often used VLC with 10.5 to watch videos on my iMac and always used the remote to pause, play, and adjust the volume. However, since upgrading to 10.6 today, now every time I use the media keys (either the remote, or even hitting the space bar on the keyboard to pause/play the VLC player), iTunes automatically opens up (it was not running before) and starts playing! VERY annoying when trying to watch a movie. Does anyone know any setting I can do such that iTunes will only be controlled by the remote when it is open?

The following is a general list of things you may try when the issue is not in a specific file (you may have tried/done some of them already); 1) and 2) are the easy ones for temporary strangenesses, and 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences); 5) is a list in itself, and 6) is the last resort.
1) Close down Illy and open again;
2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to 3 times);
3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
4) Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible);
5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (follow the link with that name, Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy, Item 15) applies to CC, CS6, and maybe CS5);
Even more seriously, you may:
6) Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and reinstall.

HT4437 I get good response when I use the remote app but when I try and use airplay it could be five minutes between frames. Any ideas?

Seems to work very sporadically on airplay but no problem on Remove app.

When I went to see what version of the TDM Excel Add-in I had installed, I discovered that my previously working TDM Excel Add-in was suddenly exactly reproducing your symptoms (totally unresponsive) -- I too have Win XP SP2 and Excel 2003. I then followed the steps from the web site that Julia posted above:
1) Manually deleted the TDM Excel Add-in from the Excel toolbar
2) Manually uninstalled the "Excel TDM Add-in" from "Add and Remove Programs"
3) Manually installed the "Excel TDM Add-in" from this web page:

Now when I restart Excel, I get the floating TDM Excel Add-in icons, and they work perfectly. I was able to verify that the version that works on my computer is indeed 2.0.1.4. By the way, how do you know what version you're using, if the "About" icon is unresponsive?

Anybody? Just installed my new ATV and everytime I go select a radio station it spins and spins and spins - then when I go back to th emenu and then back into the radio to try again I get "Could not connect to "DEFAULT_SERVER" seems pretty specific!? I had no such problems with my ATV v1 I just ebayed!!
PS. I am logged in with correct ID and can acces pretty much everything else

Why is my Computer not authorized only when using the remote ?

I am new to Itunes. I have taken a huge collection of my CDs and loaded them into Itunes having it save them as MP3 files. I can from the computer keyboard play any of them just fine. I hooked up the computer to my home theater system (including video hook up) my idea was that I could use the computer remote to control ITunes. However when I select a track using the remote I get a message telling me the computer is not authorized and I need to enter an Itunes store ID number. Whats the deal can ITunes only recognize if you purchase from them, can I not use my own purchased CDs??? -or- am I just doing something wrong? Any ideas would be welcomed, I have loaded about 16,000 tracks of music I already own. It would take forever to play each track so the remote will work. Oh, and it does, if I lay it first from the keyboard then the remote will play that track as well.... wierd

I also tried the Option, choose library, no dice. The library is functioning fine. I plays anything I want if I work directly on the computer. It only gives the "not authorized message when I use the remote control.

HT201413 my Apple TV on home sharing starts my Mac when I use remote

I do a lot of renting of movies and TV season purchases from iTunes.
One problem I always have when I'm doing homesharing from my MAC to my Apple TV which is about 8 feet away from each other is get frustrated when I start to play or pause it not only activates my Apple TV when I use the remote but it randomly starts things on my MAC. So I may have music that start to play as I've just hit play for a movie rental.
Now I normally rent movies on my Apple TV but recently downloaded them to my MAC so I could use them on my ipad while travelling. The movies I did not watch I wanted to move back to my MAC and then use home sharing to watch them on my Apple TV set up.
I know the simple answer is move the two devices further away from one another but it's the room set up and you would thing that 8ft. plus direction (hang my hang down the side of my recliner so my body and chair are more of a shield from the direction of my MAC) it's kind of silly I know but it still does not work.
Recently with 4 movies I did not watch - the stream got stopped and bounced out of Apple TV so I pressed the menu a few time to turn off and on the stream and when I again got up frustrated to go to the MAC I found that the menus had been started for 2 of the other movies so I now had 48 hrs. to watch them.
Long story - sorry, but is there a set up option I should be using to block the Apple TV remote from engaging anything on my MAC and work it only with my TV set up?

Putting the Mac to sleep with the remote

One of the recent Mac tips involved using the remote with Keynote to put the MBP to sleep.
Well, being curious, I decided to see if it worked outside Keynote, and it does!
Just press the large round button in the center of your remote and hold it.
Within a very short time an interesting "snooze" icon appears in the center of the screen and then the MBP enters into the arms of Morpheus.
I have never seen this icon before - it is a graphic representation of the remote itself!
Pressing any button on the remote reawakens the computer.

I have been using the remote as a volume control since I got my first MBP, but I just found out about this sleep thing yesterday.
I have one of those RadioShack IR extender systems around the house so I can control my sound system and TV, but it also works with the Mac remote, so I can turn the volume up or down from another room, which is convenient when using the AirPort express WiFi unit to drive remote speakers in another room.
Now, I can remotely put the MBP to sleep.
As an interesting prank, I can take the remote with me when I visit friends with MBPs and put their computers to sleep on them, since few know that it's possible with the remote.

I think I found the reason. On my iMac that is hosting the music library a song already was playing. This seems to block out me from selecting another song though my Apple TV.

I think this is probably a sign that your network could be better than it is.
Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate.
There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first.

ATV doesn't show iTunes playlists and doesn't play them using the Remote app

Using ATV3 with the latest software version and it is connected to the iTunes library (also latest version) on my Mac Mini.
When I go to Computers on the ATV I can see the content of the iTunes and am able to play both Music and Vidoes however I don't see the playlists on iTunes there. On the ATV configuration it is configured to Show playlists -> All but still no Playlists appearing at the top of my movie and TV show listings section.
When I connect to the ATV using the Remote app on the iPhone and go to Computers there I do see the playlists but unable to play the ones with Vidoes just music.
Any ideas what would cause these problems...?

log into my library through more > computers where? on the Remote? This is exactly what i'm doing, I can see the content of my library there but I can't play movies from there.
