How to obtain sufficient privileges to complete operation

I'm not sure this is the correct forum in which to post my question; if not, please direct me to the correct one or preferably, provide me with a solution to my problem/question. Thanks.
As I attempt to copy/move files in Finder, many are completed but for others a message appears "The operation cannot be completed because you do not have sufficient privileges for some of the items." All of the "items" are ones that I have created! What determines the sufficient privileges and how do I obtain them?
Thanks for your help.

I am moving/copying docs and jpgs folders/files to Documents and Pictures through the Finder window.
Most of the time I am simply moving an entire folder of either documents or jpgs. When the message comes up, I check the Finder window to see if a folder for either has been created and it is usually there, then I go back to the original location and highlight all of the items in the folder and move them to their folder through the Finder window; when I do this, the copying begins and then abruptly stops with the message appearing that the operation could not completed because I didn't have sufficient privileges. Checking that folder I find no items copied in it.
Many files and folders have been transfered this way but several times the above message appears. I go on to other folders and files and complete those.
I would like to be able to transfer these also with which I have had the message to appear.
Thanks for your reply and hope you can help - hope this information is what you need.

  • You do not have sufficient privileges to complete this installation for all users of the machine. Log on as administrator and then retry this installation

    Hi all
Have seen a couple threads regarding this but unfortunately nothing that solves my problem thus far!
Right now, our developers are using the Domain Admin account to promote their website code using MSI files.  I'd like to change this as I feel the Domain Admin account should be on lock down and only used when absolutely necessary, pretty common.  The
same goes for my account too, I would like to absolve as much use of the Domain Admin as I can.
Problem is, when they run installers from their own accounts, they receive this error: You do not have sufficient privileges
to complete this installation for all users of the machine. Log on as administrator and then retry this installation
The accounts they are using are part of the Built In Administrators group and the Domain Admins group... I'm not sure what other permission you'd need in a domain?  We've gone as far as explicitly giving them local admin access on this server and still
    nothing changes.
Is there a Group Policy or something that I can change to provide install rights and possibly remove these accounts as Domain Admin and more along the line of Power User?
    Thanks much for your help!

    Hi,
You could use Software Restriction Policies (SRP’s) or Applocker(supported on Windows server 2008 R2/Windows 7 only) to restrict the running

  • ERROR: You do not have sufficient privileges to complete this installation

When attempting to install iTunes 9.0.1, I receive this message just after the installation begins: You do not have sufficient privileges to complete this installation for all users on this machine. Log on as an administrator and then retry this installation."
I am the administrator of this machine. I have tried installing in a different directory of the all users folder, however that failed with the same reason. This PC has had some anomalies of late so this may not be iTunes, but I'm without clues as to where to go to fix this.
Thanks for any clever ideas you may have. I miss the music.

What can I do to resolve this annoying problem?

    Tom:
I finally backed up the iPad to the laptop and deleted everything on the iPad and restored from back up. That cured the problem.

  • In trying to update to Firefox 3.6.11 on an intel mac g5, I get this message: the operation cannot be completed because you do not have sufficient privileges for some of the items -- any suggestions? thanks!

In trying to update to Firefox 3.6.11 on an intel mac g5, I get this message: the operation cannot be completed because you do not have sufficient privileges for some of the items -- any suggestions? thanks!

You can try to repair the permissions for the Firefox application files and folders.
    You can also do this:
    * Download a new copy of the Firefox program: http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html
    * Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re)install.
    * Install the new version that you have downloaded.

  • When I try to upgrade to the newer version of Firefox, this is the message I get (I am using OS 10.4.11): The operation cannot be completed because you do not have sufficient privileges for some of the items.

I have recently dropped Earthink as me dial-up provider. I now am using Virgin Mobile Broadband2GO. I was using Safari. I am now using Yahoo! Mail Plus. It suggested I switch to Firefox. I had an older version of Firefox (2.0.0.6) and started using it. It suggested I needed to upgrade because many of the newer web sites wouldn't work well on this older version. I downloaded the newer version and proceeded with the installation and it would tell me this: '''The operation cannot be completed because you do not have sufficient privileges for some of the items.''' I have re-downloaded and tried it again two more times. I haven't a clue what that means or what to do about it.

If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the DMG file to the desktop
    * Firefox 6.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
    * Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
    * Install the new version that you have downloaded
Your profile data is stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder, so you won't lose your bookmarks and other personal data.

  • What does this mean and how do i fix it:  "service 'apple mobile device' failed to start. verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system."

What does this mean and how do i fix this so my ipod works again on my computer and itunes:  "Service 'apple mobile device' failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services." I tried "retry", i tried "abort" and started over. I keep getting stuck in the same place.

    Hello DEstadt,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
For more information on this, take a look at:
iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows: Unable to install or open
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5376
    Check for .dll files
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes and C:\Program Files\iTunes and look for .dll files.
If you find QTMovie.DLL, or any other .dll files, move them to the desktop.
    Reboot your computer.
Note: Depending on your operating system, you may only have one of the listed paths.
    Uninstall and reinstall iTunes
Uninstall iTunes and all of its related components.
Reboot your computer. If you can't uninstall a piece of Apple software, try using the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility.
    Re-download and reinstall iTunes 11.1.4.
    Best of luck,
    Mario

I am trying to download ITunes.  I get the message during starting services - Service "Apple Mobile Device" failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.  How do I verify?  How do I complete the installation?

Does anyone knows how to fix this problem?

How do I fix this problem??
I received this Error Message while trying to install on my netbook again.  (Service 'Apple Mobile Device' Failed to start.  Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.  I had Itunes on already but it stop work so I uninstalled it to reinstall it but it wont work.

Have you looked at the previous discussions listed on the right side of this page under the heading "More Like This"?

  • What does this error message mean and how do I fix the problem? Service "Apple Mobile Device' failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services. I'm trying to install the new version of iTunes.

When I get to the service section when I try to install the newest version of iTunes I get an error message. I'd really like to be able to connect to the Apple Store but can't figure out how to get those "sufficient privileges to start system services" and there doesn't seem to be any help on the Apple Support section of their Website - at least that I can find. Can anyone help me?
I uninstalled the older version of iTunes. Apparently there was a .dll missing. I also uninstalled Safari since iTunes apparently uses some of the same applications as iTunes. It's getting frustrating not being able to buy books or access the books I already have.
Thanks for any help you can provide. Sometimes computers mystify me.

I am having this same problem. I took Kappy advice on restarting the Apple Mobile Device Service, however that did not work. I got this message in a pop up window that came up immediately.
Windows could not start the Apple Mobil Device Service on local computer.
Error 1053  The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.
I have already uninstalled itunes, all the related programs and I cannot reinstall, this Apple Mobil Device message stops the install.
    Can anyone please help?

  • I keep getting dialog box saying " The itunes Library file cannot be saved. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation"  I am the only user on this computer and only one library! how do i change access privileges please?

hi I keep getting the dialog box " The iTunes Library file cannot be saved. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation"
How do i  amend this  as i only have one account and one library. I cannot save new work or delete duplicate files

A belated reply, as the problems itunes has have discouraged me from using it much. If you uncheck the "read only" box, it doesn't stay that way! Next time you use it, the box comes up checked.
I'm still having that problem, even when I open iTunes as administrator.
I've yet to see the answer to this problem. I use itunes mostly to download audiobooks, and I'm ready to download more, and want to save them!

  • ITunes error: The iPhone "iPhone" cannot be synced. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation. is preventing my iPhone from syncing. How do I fix it?

The iPhone "iPhone" cannot be synced. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation. is preventing my iPhone from syncing. How do I fix it? I have changed permissions until blue in the face. What is going on? Why is this so hard? I just want to sync my phone.
A little background. My iTunes library is in a shared folder. My Aperture library is on a .DMG in the shared folder with "ignore permissions on this volume" checked. I have added myself with read and write privileges to everything that I can find. What gives? Thanks in advance.

PC, windows7, iphone4, updated iphone (5.0.1) and itunes (10.5.2.11) software. Started getting "iphone cannot be synced. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation" message.
Solution I found that worked: Uncheck "Sync photos from Iphone" in Itunes / Devices / Photos tab.
