How to open 8.0 project from generated files

Hello-
Is there a way to work from generated files in a project after it is published?? We lost the 'originals' which were on a hard drive that got zapped. Now I am scrambling to figure out how to open it when I can't see the xpj file???
I know this has come up before - but I am having a mental block. Will keep searching on the posts.

You need all the project and event folders associated with the production. They need to be in explicit locations or they will not be seen my the application.

You use the Upgrade Project and Events function in the File menu when you have the correct folders in the correct location to update the volume you want.

If you used the Finder to move the files, iMovie will have lost track of them. iMovie holds the locations of the Event files, and Project files contain references to those locations. If you move the files, iMovie has no way of knowing where they are.
If you can, first move all the files back to their original locations. Plug in the external drive. Open iMovie and move the files in iMovie's interface (help explains how, but basically, just drag and drop in the event pane).
Then you can connect the drive to the new computer, and iMovie will see them.

In portlet project, to navigate between pages, you should not use the URL property to link to a page. Instead, portlets use navigation via action handling. You use the Page Navigation editor to set up links to pages; that is, the navigation editor sets the action property.
Here is an example to hyperlink ans button to open a new page:

I doubt you are going to be able to find all those previous versions and the time it would take to install, open the project, verify it, and everything in between (and without license keys, they would only be saved from trial versions which would be an issue), it seems it would be better just to start with Cp7 and put the effort into that.
Completely off topic, one of the things I like about Authorware is that Macromedia provided previous versions that would allow you to open up and save the projects to get to version 7. It was a nice little touch they provided for developers. I don't believe that Adobe does this for Captivate though.

Every working drive, Internal or External, should produce an Icon on your Desktop. If you cannot see those, click on the Desktop (to get Finder) and choose Preferences off the Finder Menu. The general pane has checkboxes for "Show these items on the Desktop:"
Double click the Icon for your External Drive to open it. Open the folders on it until you find the Items you want to copy. Drag them to the Icon of your Internal Drive, or open the folder where you want them to land and drop them in there.
A drive that does not appear on the desktop after you have asked it to may be damaged. But it would be smart to do a Restart to see if it is recognized again at next Startup.

can someone tell me how to open a new window from an existing window, here by window i mean frame. The case is i hv two java files - oracle.java and FDoptions.java. The first frame is in the Login.java. The oracle.java file has a button "Login", when it is clicked, i want to open the next frame which is in the file FDoptions.java. Can some one help me with this? Can anyone please help me.. when I click on my timeline in my project library and try to export movie nothing happens! and when I try to "share" to youtube I get an error message stating that it cannot be exported because it contains "no video"... The 4 minute music video that I've created with shots off my Canon T2i looks and plays great....If I uploaded the videos into Final Cut but did not save them on my desktop or anywhere else on the Mac would this be a reason to get this message? although I believe I *have* used the .suit extension when I was creating suitcase files for TrueType fonts.
You can get away with that because you haven't really changed anything. It's already a suitcase file, with a Type code of FFIL (the Creator code is mostly irrelevant). Adding .suit still tells the OS it's a suitcase.
However, if you do something silly like change the Type code to LWFN (the outline portion of a PST1 set), then neither Font Book, or any other font manager knows what to do with it. It's recognizing the LWFN code, but the data structure of course doesn't match. The file is still a Mac legacy TrueType font. Suitcase Fusion 5 tosses this on the screen when I change the Type code to the wrong one:
Changing the extension to something obviously wrong, like .otf produces the same message. It's trying to parse the data according to what the extension says it is, and nothing lines up.
Trying to use .ttf or .ttc also doesn't work. A Mac legacy suitcase TrueType font is not built the same as a .ttf or .ttc font. Either is technically correct (it is a TrueType font), but that's the only similarity. What's happening in that case is Mac legacy TT fonts have all of the data in the resource fork. When you add .ttf or .ttc to the name, the OS and any font manager then tries to find the data in the data fork. Nothing there.
