I erased system preferences and itunes by mistake

Get out the disks that came with the computer and stick the #1 disk in and tap the power key to reboot the computer. (or use the Apple menu)
Hold the c key down while the comptuer reboots, it will boot off the disk instead, it takes a bit.
First screen is the language screen
Second screen is the OS X installer, go ahead and install it, it will not delete your files or programs, it will just replace OS X and all your packaged programs again.
Once that's done quit the installer and the computer should reboot and you should be fine.
Make sure to use the Apple > Software Update to update your software.

I want to know how can we open the "choose application" dialog from InDesign. I want to give this functionality through right click context menu.
At present CS4 has this feature - steps are as follows:
1.Create a document.
2.Place an item on the document.
3.Now select the placed item and right click on it.
4.Go to "Edit With->Other..." option.
5.Choose application dialog opens up and user can select the application in which he/she wants to open the selected item.
I want the same behavior but not able to understand how to open the choose application dialog on Mac. I have already achieved this on windows.
I think that there might be some system API's for Mac to get this working.
Please let me know about this, any help will be appreciable.

Is this not sufficient? Looks like you get some defaults then an "other" at the bottom as well. Control click or right click, when using the white arrow on the image.

[MAC] How to open a "damaged" file

Hi all,
A while ago I wrote a script that opens all InDesign documents in the selected folder and exports them to interchange format.
But a couple of days ago a guy reported me a problem he encountered trying to open this damaged InDesign file.
When I open the file in UI, or by script with UserInteractionLevels.NEVER_INTERACT -- this dialog appears and I have to click OK to continue.
If I open it by script with UserInteractionLevels. INTERACT_WITH_ALL -- the following message pops up, I have to click OK as well but nothing happens: no inx file produced.
I tried to make use of this solution found on the neighbouring Photoshop scripting forum, but Apple Script silently refuses to open this file:

I'm not sure of the problem, but the code you posted is probably not going to help. When you ask the Finder for the file, it returns a Finder reference. When you try to pass that to InDesign, all it does is pass it straight back to the Finder: you are, in effect, doing the same thing as double-clicking on a file in the Finder. Worse, it's asynchronous -- your script will move on to the next statement without waiting until the document is fully open.
You should at least use:
tell application "Finder"
    set myFile to (file "file001C_001G_U01_UP_101315_122_7.indd" of desktop) as alias
end tell

The People centic user interface is the user interface layer where the end user process the crm transactions etc.
go to SE 80 transaction and select the application as BSP application becouse pcui is bsp based views. type crm_bsp_frame under the application field and you will get folders select the select.htm folder and right click on the mouse and click on test then you will get the popup window enter the crm system user id and password you will get the pcui floor plan for entire crm applications in the browser select the lead and opportunity transaction floor plan click on the new floor plan option. then the new popup window will open and finally you will see the lead transaction or opportunity transaction pcui view to work on . these pcui views url will inturn you can assign to the enterprise portal to log on to single sign on to EP and access the pcui application for crm marketing sales and service module areas as well along with the contact and account mangement for business partners creation screen.

I installed Photoshop CS2 recently and now a whole slew of applications show up when I click on a jpg file and select "Open With..." I know how to change the default application for the files, but how do I remove applications from this list? I don't need to ever choose between 40 applications to open jpeg files - just a few. How can I pare down this list?

Then why don't you remove them yourself? Go to this page and download PropertyListEditor.dmg. It normally is incuded with the free XCode package from Apple.
Install the app in your Utilities folder and then you can edit plist files whenever you want.
Open com.apple.launchservices.plist and unfold the object tree. Now you can browse and delete objects. It is recommended you backup the file before messing with it.
You can also "Dump" the entire file, it might be faster to see what all is in it.

First check the version of the document with Jongware's script "Identify.jsx" (ExtendScript/JavaScript).

If it is CS 5.5 or above, you need someone to open it in the version the script says and export an IDML representation from that. Another way would be to install a 30days version of CS6 or above (CC) and do it yourself.
In regards of the script showing a result for InDesign files higher than CS6:
CS7 = CC v9
CS8 = CC v10 = CC-2014 or CC2014.1

What I believe Pavel is talking about is setting up a "URL Scheme" for the Adobe Acrobat iOS application so that you can easily open a PDF specifically in Adobe Acrobat iOS from other native applications and even from web applications opened within Safari. This is particularly useful if your application requires some of the specific features in Adobe Reader iOS to grant them the best experience possible and you want to encourage this.
Another case: If you're using Adobe Livecycle's document security modules (that encrypts PDF files so that Adobe Acrobat must "phone home" to decrypt and view the document), these PDF's can only be viewed inside the Adobe Acrobat application and appear as blank in most other PDF readers. Having a URL scheme allows your application utilising this functionality to have a 1 click step to view the PDF rather than the current non-user friendly process:
- Within Safari, touch the PDF link (appears as blank in the default Safari PDF reader, which in itself is confusing)
- Touch "Open in..."
- Touch "Adobe Acrobat"
We have an immediate need for this functionality for the example above. I can resubmit it in a separate post if necessary.

How do you make an application open on a specific monitor? I have two monitors, and I was able to get Firefox to open on the secondary display always by resizing it with the option or command key [I forget which one] and then quitting it. Now everytime I start it, it opens on the second monitor.
However, when I try to do the same with QuickTime [when playing videos], it always opens on the primary display no matter what I do with it. How do I make it always open on the secondary display?

Thanks for the suggestion, but no, Spaces is not what I want. I have two physical monitors, and simply want an application to always open on one monitor, not be able to switch back and forth between different desktops.

1) Create a Logical File Path definition, enter the technical name and description by clicking new entries and save it.(z_ftp)
2) create a Logical file name definition using cross client,
enter the logical file name = z_ftp , name = ftp , physical file = ftp_test.txt,
dataformat = ASC, Appln area = BW and Logical path = z_ftp(created from step 1).
click SAVE button.
3) Assignment of physical paths to logical paths, choose your logical path here.
enter the syntax group = UNIX
Physical path = /bwftp/....
Save it .
In the openhub,
choose definition type = file
Check the applicaion sever.
servername = dev
type of file name = Logical file
Applin server file name = z_ftp
separator = |
