Welcome to Apple discussions and the numbers '09 forum.
You might check dataviz.com, suppliers of MacLink Deluxe. They claim to support MS Excel 2.x, 3.0, 4.0, 5.0, 95, 97, 2000, XP 2002 files on the Windows side. On the Mac side, spreadsheet support includes Excel 2004 (.xls) and (listed as database support rather than spreadsheet) CSV files. Numbers '09 can, I think, open both those formats.
The other route is to find someone with a more recent version of Excel that can open you files and save them in a newer Excel format.

You need either Pages '09 or the original Pages '08? programs.
With Pages '09 you simply open it and it accurate converts it to Pages '09. Pages 5 will open the Pages '09 version but may alter/damage the file.
With Pages '08 you Export it to Word .doc/.docx with mixed results, then open that in Pages 5 which may alter/damage the file.

I have created files using InDesign using the trial version of Creative Cloud. My trial period has ended - I do not need all the programmes that are part of CC. How can I open my files using my original CS5?

May I say that if one is using a trial version, before the trial ends, export to IDML any important documents...
If you upload it to dropbox.com or another document sharing service and provide a link to it, someone can open and export for you. If I'm around when I see the link, I'll do it but I don't plan on staying up late.

if you are using AS2
try GG jsWindow v2 component
you can open a popup window with no tollbar,statusbar,menubar, and specified width and height of the window.

I can't open a 32-bit HDR file made with Photoshop HDR. I saved the file in Photoshop with the maximum compatibility-option on. In Lightroom the file doesn't show a preview and an exclamation mark in the upper right corner. Anybody an idea why and how to solve this problem?

As I said, the files must be saved in TIFF format in order for LR to recognize them.

First step would be to make yourself familiar with InDesign desktop version.
Whatever you intend to achieve, do it there manually. (see regular app docs or forums)
Then try to automate your steps with scripting (see scripting docs or forum)
If you can do it with a script in the desktop version, that script will likely also run in ID Server. (see server forum).
If you can specify missing features not achievable thru scripting or manual use, reconsider to write a plugin (this forum).
A seasoned C++ programmer will need a few months to learn the basics, wade thru tons of documentation etc. Alternatively consider to hire a consultant to do the development work for you.

A .exe file is a Windows executable. OS X does not run Windows programs. If you need to use .exe files then you will need to install Windows on your Mac:
Windows on Intel Macs

Install the Apple Boot Camp software. Purchase Windows XP w/Service Pak2, Vista, or Windows 7. Follow instructions in the Boot Camp documentation on installation of Boot Camp, creating Driver CD, and installing Windows. Boot Camp enables you to boot the computer into OS X or Windows.

Recently I purchased a G11. Elements 7 won't open the raw files created with that camera. I get an error message saying wrong type of file.

Read binary file made with VB

Hi there,
Here is something I never did, so a little help is welcome
I have a binary file made with VB and I want to read it with LabVIEW 8.5.
I know the structure of the records in the file, it's something like:
    str1      As String * 5
    str2      As String * 6
    str3     As String * 2
    date      As Date
    str4     As String * 20
    str5 As String * 20
    int1       As Integer
flt1    As Single
    flt2     As Single
    flt3      As Single
and so on.
Further on there's even a 2D array: 3 rows, 400 cols of singles.
The total length of one record is 5120 bytes.
I can pick up whatever record from the file using the "Set file positions" & "Read from binary file" vi's but how do I convert those 5120 bytes in the correct structure?
I was thinking of a cluster but how do I define a fix string length in LV?
Also, is a cluster the right way to go?

Defining a fixed sized string officially not possible, and even the non official way will get you bugs, so let's do the official route.
First open up the file with a hex editor, I normally use the Total Commander's built in F3, and then hit '3' to get a hex view. In that view I check wheter the lenght of the string is prepended to the string (Pascal and LabVIEW style) or ended with a Null (C style).
If none of them is happening, I would use a cluster of 5 U8's to get the string, convert this cluster to an array, and convert that to a string.
I have no idea what a 'Date' representation is in VB.
A cluster is very suitable for this task, however I do not get the info about the 2D array, if you could add a data file that would be very helpfull.

I had the same problem. Here is a very easy solution that worked for me.
1- Open the .mpg video with QuickTime Player
2-Go to file/export/ and pick the "Ipad,Iphone,Ipod Touch & AppleTV" option
3-Save your movie with the option "ipod touch &iphone 3GS" picked
4-Confirm by choosing folder of choice to save it in
Now this new version of the movie should be able to be read in imovies.

Hey everyone,
I currently have a .MAT image file which I would like to open in LABVIEW to apply some image filters. However, I am unsure as to how to open the .MAT file in LABVIEW. Ideally I would like to be able to open the .MAT file without using matlab, and it seems the only way to accomplish this task is through the mathscript node. I have attached an example of the image im trying to open, as well as the LABVIEW program which I would like to use on the image. Thanks for the feedback! =]

To save a vector or a matrix Xin ASCII format with tab delimiter, enter the following in the command window or m-script file in the MATLAB® environment:
>>SAVE filename X -ascii -double -tabs
This creates a file whose name is filename, and it contains the data X in ASCII format with a tab delimiter.
Import the file into LabVIEW using the Read From Spreadsheet File VI located on the Programming»File I/O palette.
