How to open Adobe Digital editions books on the iPad

When I try to download a digital book from my library website it's saying that the book is incompatible with my iPad. What software would allow me to open this book?

I don't think ADE will itself run on Android.
You need to install an app such as Bluefire (free) which supports DRM epub books.
Make sure you authorise it with the same AdobeID you use on the PC or to buy books.
You can get books on the PC with ADE, download them, 'sideload' the .epub files to the tablet using a file manager such as Windows Explorer, and read them on Bluefire.
For library books, the Overdrive app (free) should allow you to borrow, doanload and read books with no need for a PC or ADE.

  • Opened adobe digital edition anonymously and now can't use book on other computer

I didn't realise I needed to open adobe digital editions with my name in order to access the book I purchased from more than one device. How can I remedy this situation? the publisher is not being overly helpful

This is a vicious trap that Adobe lays for unsuspecting customers.
When you register 'without ID', ADE creates an anonymous/implicit ID with limited powers (eg can't be used to share with other devices).
Whenever you first load a DRM book, that copy of the book is associated with whatever ID the computer is registered to at the time.
Any book you load while this anonymous ID is active gets associated with that ID, and can't be read on any other device.
When you properly register your computer with a real ID, that old anonymous ID is lost.
Now you don't have any devices that can read the book.
The only way I know round this is to use a DRM stripper such as epubee BEFORE you deauthorize the device.
I do NOT advocate using such code to get around the valid limitations placed on a DRM book.
However, where the problem arises only because of the ineptness of Adobe's ADEPT DRM infrastructure and its implementation,
such a measure is totally justifiable.

  • Can I read Adobe-Digital-Edition books on my Android device?

Can I read Adobe-Digital-Edition books on my Android device?

Yes, You need to install compatible app.
Look at Bluefire and Aldiko for general use (including library books) and Overdrive app for library books.
There are also apps from some of the major booksellers.
For DRM books you need to make sure you register with the same AdobeID you use on the PC.
(For non DRM books, don't bother with ADE on any PC, use superior free Calibre instead, or download direct to device.)
You will need to copy any books using a file manager, not from ADE.

  • Adobe Digital Editions crashes all the time-

I'm trying to use it with Netgalley on my iMac G5. When I download a book and try to  open it in Adobe Digital Editions, I get the spinning beachball of death! Twice in a row now, it has simply frozen on me, and I've had to send error reports to Apple. I am running Leopard and the machine, though old, is generally pretty stable. Do I need to update Adobe Digital Editions or perhaps get a different version for a Mac PPC? I don't really understand this - it used to work fine on this machine!
Thanks. Please let me know if this isn't clear, or if I can give you any more information that might help to solve the problem. I'm just trying to get a Netgalley ebook onto my Sony pocket reader via Digital Editions.

Try running Firefox in [[Safe Mode]]. If it functions properly in that configuration, then one of your add-ons is the culprit.

Does Adobe Digital Editions work with the Kobo Arc 7 e-reader ?
It is recognised partly by Calibre but then produces an communication error message.
Are there any other utilities I could use to organise DRM files downloaded to be stored on the Kobo Arc?

No. For information about the future plans for this see http://blogs.adobe.com/billmccoy/2009/10/adobe-ebooks--.html

  • How to download adobe digital editions to my iPad?

How do I download books in adobe digital editions from my computer to my iPad?

Adobe Reader only reads PDF files and has nothing to do with Adobe Digital Editions. Adobe has not released ADE for an iPad.
You should go to the Apple Store on your iPad and download iBooks from Apple. It does a great job of reading EPUB files.

  • How to get Adobe Digital Editions to recognize my Samsung Tablet?

I download EPUB books from our state library to Adobe Digital Editions.  My Nook died.  I got a Samsung Tablet and downloaded the Nook app.  How do I get Adobe digital editions to recognize it my Samsung so I can copy books to it

Tablets don't generally show up in ADE.
You need to transfer files using a file manager instead to copy files to the tablet as a mounted drive.
Copy the .epub or .pdf files, not the .acsm token files.
(On Apple devices it is even more awkward, and you need to use iTunes, Dropbox or similar).
I don't know if the Nook app will read all Adobe DRM books or not.
Try the Bluefire app which I know supports Adobe DRM.  Or Aldiko.
Also, the Overdrive app should let you download direct to the tablet and read library books; it's always felt a bit awkward for me though.

  • How to install adobe digital editions on an android tablet

How do you install adobe digital editions on an android tablet, I understand you cannot is this true??????????

ADE does not run on Android tablets.
You need to install an app that supports Adobe DRM, Bluefire and Aldiko are the commonest.
There is also an Overdrive app if you just want to borrow/download and read DRM library books.

  • Problem opening Adobe Digital Editions 4.0

I have installed Adobe Digital Editions 4.0 but when I try to open it it gives an error - encountered a problem and will be closed PLEASE HELPProb

I'm not sure about the Kobo, but many ereaders show similar messages when connected.  While they are connected you cannot do anything on the reader directly,  you can only do things via the PC.  (Most cameras seem to work that way as well.)  So probably the Kobo is working correctly.
What should happen is that while that message is showing on the Kobo, the Kobo shows up in Library view on ADE.
Should be ok with v1.7.2 or v2.0; but v2.0 has lots of bugs that can stop it installing properly or working properly if you do once get it installed.
When the Kobo is plugged in and showing that message:
Does it show up as a device on your ADE 1.7.2?
Does it show up as a device on Windows Explorer?
What OS are you on?  ADE2.0 has issues with XP and Vista: see http://helpx.adobe.com/digital-editions/kb/installing-digital-editions-20-windows.html
    for more information.

  • How to automate Adobe Digital Editions Installation?

Hi, we would like fully automate the installation of adobe digital editions.
However, we encounter a problem in step Activation and Authorization.
It would appear that data will be listed in the registry (in HKCU) in encrypted mode.
We would like to know how to work around this problem without having to write to HKCU in registry (this will allow us to create a package of valid automated installation for all users).
Thank you for advance of your answers or ideas.

What you've learned is that Digital Editions is not designed for this
process.  I'd suggest that you contact Adobe via their website and tell
them what you're trying to do.  This forum deals with user-related issues,
not changes to the software....  Sorry!
