How to open all photos in iPhoto or PhotoElements 2?

I would like to have all photos in my Source Album open automatically in sequence. My iPhoto is set to choose Photoelements 2 whenever I click on any photo in the Album. Once Photoelements is open, I can use the Command/Shift key to select any number of photos. Regardless of the number of photos that I choose, once I double click on the first photo, the selected photos open in sequence, but only the first 4 photos. If I select 25 photos, only the first 4 will open. This same condition occurs whether I select ALL the photos in iPhoto or in Photoelements.
Is there a way to get all of the selected photos to open?
Thanks

I don't remember PE2 all that well but it was often a buggy thing. PE2 was a quasi X app that sort of straddled the line between 9x and X. This may be more of a question for the Adobe forums.
If I'm reading this right, you are selecting 25 photos in iPhoto and passing them onto PE2 and only a few open? The PE2 cache and scratch disk size come to mind. 25 digital photos are going to take up a large amount of ram and most of them are going to be cached. Can you open 25 images in PE3 bypassing iPhoto?
I'm not sure of this will work with PE2 but highlight the images in iPhoto and drag/drop them directly onto the PE2 icon.

  • Cannot open all photos in iphoto

Hi! I was wondering if anyone could help me. When I try to open the pictures in iphoto, nothing happens. The thumbnails are there, but if I try to edit them for example, the picture won't come up onto the screen. I tried going into pictures/library/preferences/com.apple.iPhoto.plist then trashing the plist. This resulted in almost all of my photos dissappearing! I had over 1600 photos now I am left with about 125 and most of those aren't even showing a thumbnail!! So, I went into pictures again and had a look in library and library1 and I can see that some of the 'missing' photos are there, however when I try to open them it says on some 'The alias "DSC003373.JPG" could not be opened because the original item cannot be found.' Have no idea where the original could possibly be either!! Some of them also come up with "Couldn't open the file. It may be corrupt or a file format that Preview doesn't recognise". Please please can someone help me! I would die if I have lost all of my photos! And, yes, I will be putting them onto discs from now on! Thanks a lot

    Fiona,
You can try and see if creating a new library will recover all the photos that you can't see in iPhoto.
    Close iPhoto
Rename your messed up iPhoto Library to "iPhoto Library_old"
Drag this library to your desktop
Hold down the Option key and launch iPhoto
This is the window you will get
Create a new library or choose a library to open
Choose to create a new library
Once this new empty library is open it is time to import the images from your old library
    Go to File>add to library
Navigate to the old library on your desktop and highlight it in the window, then click the "open" button.
iPhoto will start importing the images from your old library
    This is what to expect:
Your images will be imported in nice dated rolls. (make sure your view is set to sort by rolls to see it) There are a couple of caveats to this. You will get rolls named "Originals" These rolls will contain your video clips and your original images that you had edited. If you had RAW files they would be in those rolls too (I don't do RAW, so I don't know for sure) Delete what you don't want from those rolls. You will also get the jpeg pointer files to your video clips imported. They will just be jpegs and will not point to the video clips anymore as iPhoto made new ones when the clips were imported again. You can delete those. they should be in a roll right next to the newly imported video clips so they are not hard to find. The thumbnail files don't get imported as iPhoto makes new ones when the images are imported.
Once all you images have been imported, check through the library and make sure everything looks ok.
You can now start making your Albums, and do your keywords or any other organizational steps.
You can also delete the old library on the desktop.
It is also a good time to backup this new library to CD/DVD by burning the iPhoto LIbrary folder in the Finder, or copying the iPhoto Library folder to an external drive formatted for Macs, or copying the iPhoto LIbrary folder to an iPod.
    Good luck!

How do I open a photo to edit in photoshop elements 12 from iPhoto?

I figured it out....  when you open preferences in iPhoto, advanced, select your external editor, you have to go to PSE12 support files and open the PSE12 editor from that window.  When you do that it works perfectly....

I would like to delete all those photos in the iPhoto Library which I have NOT assigned to an album. How do I do this efficiently?
The easiest way is to put them into an album:
    New Smart album ->
Album -> Is Not -> Any
This gathers them together into an album. Then it's the same answer as the second question...
And conversely: how do I delete from the Library ALL the photos that ARE contained in a specific album?
Select the Album. Then to delete them select the pics and hold down the *command (apple) and option (or alt)* keys and hit the delete button. This will put them in the trash. Then iPhoto menu -> Empty trash.

  • How to save all photos in IPHOTO to an external drive or USB?

How do I save my all the photos in my IPHOTO to an external drive or USB?

to an external drive or USB?
Before you copy the library to the external drive, make sure it has the correct file system. The file system needs to be MacOS Extended (Journaled). If the drive has a different file system,, save the content to a different drive and reform the drive, just like described in this document for Aperture:
Format external drives to Mac OS Extended before using with Aperture

Hi, i can't open photo library on my iPhoto. Now lost all my photos.  How to restore all photos on iPhoto on Macbookair?

With the amount of information you've provided it's impossible to offer a potential solution.  We can't see your computer so we need to know the details of your problem and setup, i.e.:
what version of iPhoto are you using?
what system version are you running?
what do you see when iPhoto opens?
    what fixes have you tried?
    where is your library located?
did you apply any updates or upgrades just prior to the problem occurring?
are you running a "managed" or "referenced" library?
    what type of Mac?
how much free space on your boot drive?

  • HOW DO I IMPORT THEN OPEN MY PHOTOS FROM IPHOTO LIBRARY IN BRIDGE?

HOW DO I OPEN MY PHOTOS IN IPHOTO IN BRIDGE AND THEN IN PHOTOSHOP?

Please don't type in all caps.  It's difficult to read and rude, as it is like shouting,
iPhoto doesn't play nice with Adobe applications—or with any other application.
iPhoto hides all your images in proprietary libraries.  You need to manually export them from within iPhoto.
Once you do that, put them in a folder or folders anywhere in the Finder.  You don't need to "import" anything in Bridge.  You simply launch Bridge and browse.  Bridge is just a file browser, nothing less and nothing more.
Bridge does not open or edit any images or files.  It just finds them and hands them over to the application, whether that be Photoshop, Camera Raw, Illustrator, Acrobat, or even MS Word.
Any files you move or folders you create in the Finder are instantly reflected in Bridge, and vice versa.

HELP! moved "all images" to trash by mistake. They are still there but I can't undo. How can i return photos to iphoto? Thx!

Thanks but I have no "Put Back" option when right-clicking. When I attempt to open a photo in iPhoto I receive a white exclamation point on a black background. I have restarted my PC since first encountering this problem but have not emptied trash though i appear to be out of memory. Also, iphoto library shows size as 17GB however, each photo shows 0KB. When i attempt to open a photo i receive message "Item <photo filename> is used by Mac OS X and cannot be opened." I can see the images when scrolling in iPhoto but they disappear when the screen is still. THANKS!

  • How can I get all photos from iPhoto to automatically back up to iCloud from my Mac OSX Version 10.6.8 operating system.  Not enough memory to upgrade.

How can I get all photos from iPhoto to automatically back up to iCloud from my Mac OSX Version 10.6.8 operating system.  Not enough memory to upgrade.

You can't.  iCloud is not for general file backup from a Mac. It's for backup up and syncing data between mobile devices and and Macs and  The following is from this Apple document: iCloud: Backup and restore overview.
iCloud automatically backs up the most important data on your (mobile) device using iOS 5 or later. Once you have enabled Backup on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch .....
    What is backed up
You get unlimited free storage for:
Purchased music, movies, TV shows, apps, and books
Notes: Backup of purchased music is not available in all countries. Backups of purchased movies and TV shows are U.S. only. Previous purchases may not be restored if they are no longer in the iTunes Store, App Store, or iBookstore.
Some previously purchased movies may not be available in iTunes in the Cloud. These movies will indicate that they are not available in iTunes in the Cloud on their product details page in the iTunes Store. Previous purchases may be unavailable if they have been refunded or are no longer available in the iTunes Store, App Store, or iBookstore.
You get 5 GB of free iCloud storage for:
Photos and videos in the Camera Roll
Device settings (for example: Phone Favorites, Wallpaper, and Mail, Contacts, Calendar accounts)
    App data
    Home screen and app organization
    Messages (iMessage, SMS, and MMS)
    Ringtones
    Visual Voicemails
But not from a Mac.  If you want to backup your photos and other important files I suggest you get an external hard drive and use  it with Time Machine.

I cant seem to open some photos on Iphoto. I downloaded like 3 months ago from my phone into the iphoto. I could access ALL of my photos back then but when I try and access them now I cant seem to open the file. When i open iphoto and open the folder thats on it, i can see ALL the photos that are there but when I click on different ones some appear in the larger screen but A LOT of them dont appear. Iphoto seems to have erased the file or I dont know.
Also I tried clicking on the photo that doesnt appear and making it "Reveal it on finder" - "original file" and it says 'The operation can’t be completed because the item can’t be found.".
I really want those photos because they involve a really special family vacation, please help me find those photos

A LOT of them dont appear.
What do you see in the window when you click on those?  A blank, black window?  An exclamation mark?  What?

  • HT1535 how do i transfer photos from iphoto on my imac to my new ipad

I have read and reread the ipad manual and under importing photos and videos -  this is all it says,
"To transfer the photos to your computer, connect iPad to your computer and import the images with a photo application such as iPhoto or Adobe Elements."
There are no explicite instructions on how to get the photos from iPhoto onto my iPad.  There is nothing in iPhoto either.

Another way. You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)

  • How can I import photos from iPhoto-library to edit in Photoshop CC? - and save it back to the iPhoto-library?

How can I import photos from iPhoto-library to edit in Photoshop CC? - and save it back to the iPhoto-library?

How to access iPhoto images for use in Photoshop
    1. In the Finder, navigate to Users > [user name} > Pictures > iPhoto Library.
    2. Control-click the iPhoto Library file and choose Show Package Contents.
    3. A Finder window opens that shows the contents. The Masters folder (or called Originals folder) contains all of the photographs that are in iPhoto.
Photoshop cannot access this folder, but if you make a duplicate of the folder, the dupe will be accessible -- so:
    4. Control-click the folder named Masters (or Originals) and choose Duplicate.
5, Drag the duplicate folder which is named "Masters copy" or “Originals copy” from the iPhoto Library Finder window to the Desktop.
    6. Open images in Photoshop from file on desktop.
7  Rename the folder and move it elsewhere (probably to the Pictures folder), if desired.

Deleting Photos from an iPhoto Library
1 - from an Event or the Photos mode: select the photo(s) and use the Delete key to move the photos to the trash bin. Then empty the iPhoto Trash bin as follows:
2 - from an album, smart album, book, slideshow, card, etc.: select the photo(s) and use the key combination of Command+Option+Delete to move the photos to the trash bin.  Then empty the trash bin as above.
NOTE: deleting a photo from an album, slideshow, book, etc., with only the Delete key only deletes that photo from that item. Deleting a photo from an Event deletes ALL occurences of that photo in the library.
