How to open an SGI RGB image file.

I have some old SGI rgb files that I would like to open in Photoshop Elements. I now have version 8. I used to have an older version and were able to open these files.
Looking at the doc for 8, I see:
In addition, Photoshop Elements can open files in several other older formats: Photoshop 2.0, Pixel Paint, Alias Pix, IFF format, Portable bitmap, SGI® RGB, Soft Image, Wavefront RLA, and ElectricImage. You can also save files in the following formats: Alias PIX, IFF format, Photoshop 2.0, and PICT Resource.
So, it sounds like this should work. But, it doesn't. What must I do to open these files?

As far as i know that's a misprint in the elements manuals.
Here's a plugin that should work for sgi files:

Even though it says photoshop it should work with elements.

How do I create a icon that when clicked will open and maximize an image file? I have tried to use the simple image widget with maximize upon tap/click - however I am can only size the image really small and put on the page. I'd prefer to have a graphic that when clicked it simply opens up the image. This is for a very simple question/answer book. The user is suppose to look at a picture and locate something. Have yiu tried the PopOver widget? You can drop an image into it, maximise the image and the widgets window...But, you cannot get it full screen.
With iBooks Author, you either learn to use what is available within the app, or look online for third party widgets to purchase which suit your project.

When your files are stored in the Creative Cloud, you can access them on your mobile device using Adobe Photoshop Touch, or on your desktop computer using Adobe Photoshop. Photoshop Touch can open files in the following formats: PSD*, PSDX, PNG, JPG, and GIF. And, with a free plug-in for Photoshop CS5, CS5.1, and CS6 you can open the PSDX files created by Photoshop Touch in Photoshop.
[Note: PSD files can only be opened via the Adobe Creative Cloud. The file is converted, layers are flattened to a single layer, and other info that is only supported in Photoshop is removed.]
Download the plug-in (if you have CS6, skip this section)
1. If you have CS5 and CS5.1, you are required to download a plug-in to be able to open your PSDX files in Photoshop. If you have CS6, you are not required to download the plug-in (it is native within the version). In a browser on your desktop computer, navigate to the Creative Cloud Homepage ( https://creative.adobe.com ). Sign-in to Creative Cloud using your Adobe ID, then navigate to the Creative Cloud Apps & Services page (https://creative.adobe.com/apps).

To save a Photoshop Touch file for upload to the cloud.

Open a Photoshop Touch file in Photoshop
1. On your desktop computer, launch a browser and navigate to the Creative Cloud website. When you are signed in, navigate to your Photoshop Touch file. Click to select the file.
2. Tap the download button in the top right corner.
3. When the download dialog button pops up, select PSD. Once the file has been downloaded, you can open in Photoshop (CS5, CS5.1, CS6) on your desktop.
4. When the file is opened in Photoshop, it displays its layers (Note: that if the file is dragged and dropped, and NOT downloaded, it will not display the layers).

Lightroom 5.3 should be able to open D600 RAW photos.
The problem is most likely that you used some version of Nikon software to transfer the photos to your computer. This interferes with Lightroom's ability to read the files. If the files are still on your camera card, use Lightroom to directly access them from the camera card. I cannot open Nikon D800 RAW image files in lightoom 2. My raw files will not import into lightroom (it imports jpegs, but not the RAW files) I am using Lightroom 2, version 2.7, camera Raw 5.7. Can you help?

I would highly recommend upgrading to Lightroom 4 as the processing engine is a quantum leap ahead from Lr 2 just as your camera is a leap ahead!!
p.s. you can upgrade directly fro 2 to 4.

How do I find the aperture image files? I know that you can email images from aperture. But how would I attach an image using Mail?

if you mean to go into the Aperture library in order to get image files to print with Canon's software it's not really possible. The best you would be able to do would be to get the master image and if you're shooting RAW that will be the RAW file. In any case no adjustments you made to the image in Aperture would be available, versions don't exist as files until you export them.
If you want to print with the Canon software you would export the image from Aperture and then print that image file.

How to open more than one RAW-File by drag&drop/doubleclick with CS2?

is it possible to open more than one RAW-file from iPhoto with Photoshop's RAW-converter in just one single step? If I drag&drop my selection to my Photoshop-Icon, PS opens just the iPhoto-created library-JPGs of the RAW-files but not the RAWs itself (I've turned out the copyying of the imported photos to the iPhoto-library. Instead iPhoto seems to create a JPG for the library from every RAW I import). If I doubleclick a selection of RAWs in iPhoto just the doubleclicked RAW-File will be opened in Photoshop. Is it possible to select more than one RAW-file in iPhoto and get Photoshop to open all the selected RAWs but not the JPGs? It would make my work a lot easier... thank you.

try selecting the photos that you want however many- go, File then Export.
you can make all your file selections image size etc and then save them direct to your PS file.

How to remove black border around image files?

I'm something of a beginner with Photoshop, so forgive me if I've missed something entirely obvious: for some strange reason I'm now getting a black border around all image files that I save through the "Save for Web & Devices" panel. Does anyone know how I can save without creating this border? It looks rather unsightly when I load it into a client site. The file in question is a .png, but I seem to be getting the same effect with all other image files as well.

One cause could be having the matte color set to something other than none.
Is that a png-8?

This should launch Outlook Express if .eml files are associated with it.

How to import programmatically an APEX images file using workspace images option and CSS files to APEX?

I am importing a images file programmatically into APEX. And also a CSS file.
I want to add an images file to my APEX instance but I want to choose the option -- workspace images --. How does one do that programmatically via the APEX API e.g.?
I don't want the images tied to an application within APEX.
Does one do the same thing for CSS files that are imported to APEX?

This is interesting and helpful, I use the following code to import my APEX database application and run it via SQL*Plus and it works fine for database applications -- what do I need to change/add/modify in order to load the images and CSS files? NOTE: I want the images to be -- Workspace images -- not tied to any application. Also, I need to handle the situation where the images and CSS data already exist in the APEX environment as well as when they are not there (i.e. initial install). Usually it is a case where it is an upgrade so the data already exists in the APEX app and just needs to be updated.
