How to open Apple/Claris Works docs on iMac 10.8.3?

I've tried opening Apple and Claris Works docs from 1999-2004 in Pages, but no go. Any suggestions much appreciated.

if you have iWork 2009, Pages must be able to open AppleWorks 6 word processing files, Number AppleWorks 6 spreadsheet files, ...
If you have older files ( or a newest version of iWork):
- one solution is indeed to virtualize OsX10.6 and launch AppleWorks to convert
   these files
- you can also use LibreOffice 4.1 to convert the word processing files and maybe
   EazyDraw to convert some drawing files,

I just clicked the link to see if the site came up, which it clearly did. As far as Google Translate you can try to use it once you get the site to read. Because I do not read Chinese I have no idea if the site has a translator built in. You will need to contact the webmaster of the site to find that out or work with a translator.
I think before you worry about translating it you need to get access to the site first. Then you can work on the translation.

Good question. This has been a problem since day one. I have windows 7 64 bit. I was never able to install the drivers off the SL disc so I just did it manually. Tonight I downloaded BC 3.1 and ran it and all that happened was the nvidia update. My windows partition is literally running no different than before 3.1 including the magic mouse not working.

According to a review written in Oct 2013, they cover several aspects of this year's iMac and go into graphics performance, where they said they tried a few tests and a few games. How do I transfer an IPages doc from iMac to iPad

I have created a doc on imac 10.7.3 os using ipages. Want to down load the template to an Ipad for use to take meeting minutes. I have tried to run it thru ITunes, but no luck. Tried to export and save in folder where my photos are that go on my IPAD2 ......HELP

You can't transfer "templates" created in Pages on your Mac to your iOS device. Templates are special files with the extension .template as opposed to normal pages documents with their .pages extension. You can't add templates to the template library on your iOS device; you can only add documents to your iOS device and re-use and re-name them as psuedo-templates.
In order for you to use the document you create on you Mac on your iOS device do the following (your iOS device needs to be connected to your Mac or connected to a power supply and using the same WiFi network as your Mac):
1. In iTunes go to your device Apps pane > File Sharing > Select Pages as the App > Click Add and locate your Pages Document - if the file isn't immediately copied to your iOS device, click on the Synch button.
2. On your iOS Device, open Pages and in the Document View (Thumbnails) tap the "+" button (upper left) and Add From iTunes - this will transfer the document into Pages and open the document.
3. Without editing the document, return to the Document View. You can place this document into a folder of similar documents that you would like to keep as "templates" - label the folder with something meaningful like "Masters"
4. To use the "templeate" in Pages on your iOS device, in Pages Document View > Edit (button upper right) > select the document (tap once) and when the Copy Icon appears (looks like two pages with a "+" sign) tap the Copy Icon - this will create a copy of your original "template" - rename it then you can edit, save, share, print, etc.

No Apple or Claris Works on inel imac!

Is there any way to open all of my old Claris or Apple works on my new intel im ac? How can I view this and the answers to this after it is posted?

You'll need AppleWorks 6.2.9 which works fine on the Intel. I mostly use spreadsheets and drawing documents. Files from my trusty G3 OS8.6/AW5.0.3 opened ok but had to be resaved in the new version after any work.
The best thing I found to do was select all the documents in a folder and open them all at once, click to allow "open in the newer version" and close 1 by 1 saving into the same folder by clicking "replace" with the newer version. If you place your mouse pointer in the right place you just have to click between keyboard and mouse. If a file name ends in something like '05/06' it will be saved as '05-06' beside the original instead of replacing it.

How to open dot-files as doc?

we have several company word-templates (extension dot) and we´re planing to access these templates via the Portal (file system repository with connect to the server).
If I doubleclick the dot-file in the windows explorer, I receive a doc-file from the template.
If I click a dot-file inside the Portal via Repository, I receive a dot-file - but that´s wrong. Our Macros don´t work anymore and and and.
So has anybody experience with this problem? How can I open a dot-file as a doc-file inside the Portal?

Hi Susanne,
the problem would be, that from the portal site, you will not have a lot of possibilies to handle this issue. Technically MS Office is responsible for opening .dot files. The portal is just sending the stream to the client (browser) which starts the required application, which has to handle the data. So its a kind of application logic (from MS Office) to transform .dot into .doc files.

How to open an old .book/ .doc file(s) and create PDF?

I seek your help and would like to know if you have a suggestion/ solution for the situation stated below −
Situation
Our development team received some files. These files seem to comprise of two sets of files and one .derive file. The sets seem to contain one .book and some .doc files each. The .doc files indicate that they are Microsoft 97-2003 documents.
What I did
· I tried to open the .book file with FrameMaker 8.0 or 6.0 and received an error message stating "Although <pathToBookFile>\abc.book appears to be a FrameMaker document, it can't be opened with this release of the product."
· I tried to open the .doc file by using a text editor like MS Word97/ notepad and it displayed <MakerFile 1.03> in the File Conversion dialog box
Saved .doc file as .fm and tried to import into/ create a new book
Attempted to convert the .doc files by using an online conversion utility
Opened by using HTMLDOC and DOXYGEN tools – displays BAD HEADER message
What is required
The files need to be converted to a readable format, preferably two separate PDFs.
My questions
·         Are these FrameMaker files? Or do you suggest that they have been created by using some software other than Adobe FM?
·         If these are FrameMaker files – what version could they be (in view of the <MakerFile 1.03> tag)? is there a possibility that the files need a version older than Adobe FM6.0 to be opened?
·         How can I create a readable format (preferably PDFs) from the .book and .doc files?
Please let me know any information that you may need.

If the .doc files actually have <MakerFile 1.03> at the start, then they're from the first release of FM. Check the book file in a text editor, to see if it has a corresponding <BookFile 1.03> in the first 16-bytes.
These are very old files and hopefully without any corruption.
You could try using FM's "heroic open" to see if anything can be recovered from these.
First open/create a blank document.
Next type <esc> o H to trigger the "heroic" open. It display a standard file open window, but this skips a lot of error checking and tries to pull whatever pieces it understands out of the file.
You should then immediately save as MIF and then exit FM, so as to not leave it in a potentially unstable state.
You can then open the MIF file in FM to see what's been recovered.

Along with byte array, I do get the property information like what the bytearray stands for like PDF or Word or JPG etc. How can I display or open this data in the browser accordingly. An action in JSF is causing me to read the bytearray data. Now I want to navigate to a new page to display or open the byte array content.
