How to open D7000 RAW file in elements 9

how to open D7000 Raw file in elements 9

Barbara B.
Your suggestion to try another file resolved the Converter  issue.  I found that I can open any jpg or tif file in any album that appears in the
Windows Explorer.  So the problem was not with the RAW Converter.  Instead, I found another problem.  The ENTIRE Album
containing the file I had been trying to open  is missing from the Windows Explorer (and I cannot open the file from the Album
showing in the Organizer --  while I'm in the Editor!).
So -- can you give me any help with this new problem of an Album that shows in the Organizer but not the Windows Explorer?

  • Opening Nikon D7000 raw files in Elements 8

I am unable to open Nikon D7000 NEF files in Elements 8. I have been unsuccessfull in downloading the version 5.7 update from the web site. After downloading several times the files are still not recognized in Elements 8.

I am using Windows 7. I tried selecting the folder that contained the folder holding the pictures to be converted. I then single-clicked the folder holding the pictures and hit select. A message came up stating that the source folder did not contain any supported camera raw files.I have spoken with my Elements software supplier and this is his response:
"I've done some digging and it turns out the Nikon D7000 wasn't supported in elements until the release of version 6.4 Adobe Camera Reader. So to make sure you have the latest ACR update installed. You can check which one you have by going into elements and clicking Help>About Plug-In>Camera Raw. And if it's not 6.7 then Help>Updates will find it and let you install the latest version. You could also try saving your camera files as .RAW instead of .NEF, and then opening them in elements. Adobe lightroom 4 should already have these plugins available right outside the box, but if you can save the money and run updates instead that would work just fine." I have checked for Elements updates for the Camera Raw plug-in and the message appears stating no updates are available. The camer raw plug-in version is currently 6.1.0.250.

What operating system are you using?
The most common cause is pointing the dng converter to the actual files and not just to the folder that the camera raw files are in.
There is an example of how on a windows system in this thread:

  • How to open NEF(RAW) files transferred from old computer.

I have Elements 10 with latest updates on a new computer(Windows 7). I transferred my picture files from my old computer (XP) that were in My Pictures. Old computer had Elements 3. I can't seem to open NEF files in Elemnets 10. On old computer I was able to highlight a NEF file and then select Open with Elements. I don't see that option with WINDOWS 7. How can I open NEF(RAW) files. Also the thumbnails of the transferred files are not created in Elements 10 organizer. How can I accomplish that?

    Hi,
For opening the NEF files you could try the suggestions in this thread
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/929848?tstart=0
Thumbnails not created: Do you mean there are no thumbnails or just big question marks?
Does the organizer show a count of items in the bottom left of the window?

  • Can't open NEF raw files in Elements 12.1 from my Nikon D610.

I have the trial version of Elements 12 and updateed to 12.1. The Camera Raw version is 8.4 and I'm running a Windows 7 computer. Then I try to open NEF files do I get the error message that my Camera is not supported. I tried to install the DNG converter ver 8.3 but that dosen't recognize the NEF files either. Elements opens the NEF files from my Nikon D5100 without problems and so does the DNG converter. I have tried both 12 bit and 14 bit NEF files from the D610 with no luck.
As I understand it so should Elements 12 with Camera Raw 8.4 support Nikon D610. I hope I get get this to work so that I can update to ver 12 from ver 9 that I use today.
    Best regards
    Daniel

Yes I used Nikon Transfer NX that came with my Nikon D5100. I downloaded the NEF file directly from the SD card to my hard drive and now can I open the NEF file in Elements. I guess I need to update Nikon Transfer NX with the version I got with the D610.
Thanks 99jon for the quick reply and for solving my problem

  • Opening camera raw file in elements

I am using photoshop elements 5.0 on windows vista. My problem is I am not able to transfer my raw files to the editor. The message I get is 'cannot open raw files/08...NEF because it is the wrong type of file' I am very much a newbie at this so any detailed help would be much appreciated

    Janis,
You need to upgrade your ACR plug-in to version 4.5, which does work with Elements 5.0 according to this:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=3943
Follow the instructions on the download page to the letter.

  • How to open multiple RAW images in Elements 7

With Elements 5 I can open any number of RAW images and process each one separately, one at a time, applying corrections to each image individually in the RAW dialogue, clicking Open Image, repeat.  When done each image is in the work space, allowing me to work further, crop, fix, Save as JPEG, CLOSE, etc.
With Elements 7 the capability to process multiple RAW images in the workspace seems to have degraded.  I must process one RAW image at a time, or open many RAW images, Select All and have the correction(s) I apply to the first RAW image apply to all the RAW images.  The first alternative is very time consuming while the second alternative is not acceptable.
Any help appreciated in how to regain the function I had with Elements 5.

If I select more than one image in the
left pain, either individually or by
Select All, Elements 7 dutifully opens
the RAW images selected in the
    workspace.
The rub is that Elements 7 then applies
the RAW adjustments from the RAW image
    dialogue (e.g., Brightness, Contrast,
Clarity) for the first RAW image to all
    the RAW images
before placing them in the workspace for
    further editing.
Elements 5 provides a RAW image dialogue
for each RAW image individually, one at
a time, when I open them en masse.   As
near as I can tell, Elements 7 does not,
    forcing the user
to either open each RAW image
individually or presume that the RAW
adjustments made to one image should
apply to all the others before opening
them in the workspace for further
    editing.
This presumption will generally be a bad
presumption, forcing the user to the
    one-at-a-time option, which is very,
    very slow.
    Thank you again,
    Paul M.

  • How to open a RAW file that has been created with Photoshop CS5.5?

I did some HDRs and when back in Photoshop CS 5.5 I tried to save them (16 bit colur depth).
GIven the option to save the image as .RAW file I did that but now:
Which program can be used to open those Photoshop created RAW files???
When I try to open one of these files with Photoshop I just get noise.

    1.  Photoshop CAN open (flat) PSD files through Camera Raw, no problem.
    2. There are those of us who have used every version of Photoshop, going back almost 20 years, and who *still* haven't used them all.  I just don't see that as any kind of problem.
    3. Lastly:  You have been asserting here all along that Photoshop won't re-open a 16 bit .raw file properly.  That's absolutely wrong.  If you get the bit depth, number of channels, and pixel counts right (i.e., the same as when the image was saved) it WILL open properly.  The thing is, with the Photoshop raw format there really is no metadata in the file, meaning YOU have to put all those numbers in.  It's not a general purpose "push one button and done" kind of format - it's a specialty format, as Chris noted above.
    -Noel
    1) will try that out
    2) I am just curious and like to try out all functions and see what it does and how it works.
    3) guess I have to play arould with it a bit more to find the right settings that allow me to save and re-open the file correctly.
BTW: when writing messages here my FF browser doesnt show any cursor in the text field which makes it difficult to see where I am. Does everyone have that problem?
Just noticed: I have to click on to something in the pulldown menu and later the cursor appears. I have the same problem with facebook. Have to click somewhere else first and then go back to the text field to make the cursor appear.

  • How to open/convert RAW- files from new CANON 5D Mk III in LR 3 and CS 5?

    Hallo!
The RAW- files from my new CANON 5D Mk III are not convertible into LR 3 and CS 5.
What is the reason and how to solve the problem?

The work around of converting the CR2 to dng either with the dng converter or ACR 6.7 will allow working in LR and CS5 but not with the latest raw conversion engine from Adobe i.e PV 2012.
Remember to keep a copy of the CR2 files if you wish to utilize the Canon software.

  • How to open EOS70D Raw files in PSE12

How to open EOS70D files in PSE12 ??

On Windows updates are available for Windows 7 and Windows 8, only, due to compatibility of the Adobe Application Manager program.  They are also not available for the trial version.
There is a manual install process you can use, though, which involves download the installer ZIP file, extracting the plug-in file resource, copying it to the proper folder and renaming it, after renaming the previous version of the plug-in to something that won’t be detected as a plug-in:

  • How to open DCR raw files in CC

I cannot open DCR files which I used for years with the Kodak 14nx, since I built a new computer. It worked fine with my last computer and CS5. With the new computer I tried it on CS5 and CC and they won't open because it's " not the right kind of file".  It worked in the past after @2004 when Adobe figured out how to change it to DNG which was on the update 6.4.1. Now when trying to reload Camera Raw Update 6.4.1 for Windows, I get an error message U44M287

Those Kodak 14nx files should be still supported in photoshop cc:
    http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/extend.html
What version of windows are you using?
So you were able to open the files in photoshop cs5 on your new computer before the install of photoshop cc?
In both photoshop cc and cs5 go to Help>About Plug-In>Camera Raw and see what version the camera raw plugin is?

  • Can't open NEF raw Files in Elements

I have downloaded the plug in 4.6 but elements won't update the plug in on my Imac. What am I doing wrong?

    What model camera?
    What version of Elements?
ACR 5.4 is the latest version of Camera RAW released last week, so if you
have a newish camera you'll need that version.  ACR 5.x works with PSE 6 and
    PSE 7.

  • How to open RAW files using elements 10 with a pc using windows xp and nikon D3300

i have an old pc running on windows xp to which i downloaded elements 10. i recently bought a nikon d3300 and am shooting RAW. is there a way to open the RAW files using elements 10?

The 8.4 dng converter won't work on windows xp, but will on windows 7.
The newest version of the dng converter that works on windows xp is 8.3
    http://blogs.adobe.com/lightroomjournal/2013/12/camera-raw-8-support-on-windows-xp-windows -vista-and-mac-osx-10-6.html
Since you have windows 7 you might as well use the newest version of the dng converter 8.7.1
(covers the same cameras as 8.3, with some added and bug fixes)

I have downloades camera raw 6 plug in but I am still getting the wrong file type error when I try to open my nikon d7000 raw files in elements 8.
    any suggestions??

You need to update to PSE9 as your camera model is not supported in earlier versions
N.B. If you are not wishing to upgrade to PSE9 - you can use the freely available DNG converter 6.3 and then use Elements to open and edit the DNG files. It’s recommended you keep your original raw files as back-up as they can always be read by your camera software.
    DNG Converter 6.3for Windows.
    DNG Converter 6.3 for MAC.
