Hello:
The mouse with a scroll wheel is not the magic mouse.  However, turn the mouse upside down and run in over a plain piece of paper.  If that does not help, run the scroll wheel over one of those microfiber cloths.
I would definitely NOT try to open the device.

  • How to reduce magic mouse sensitivity..?

I've found that my scroll on my magic mouse are way too sensitive.., anyway.., I've tried to looked after sensitivity mouse controlers at preference but I just couldn't find one.. Does anyone knows how to reduce the mouse sensitivity..??

I too have the same problem...   especially when using Adobe InDesign CS5.  it seems like when I only hold my hand barely above the Magic Mouse, the pages move around on the screen, or fly off the screen.
I went back to using the previous USB opitcal mouse.    I like the concept of the Magic Mouse, but for design work, it just doesn't work well with InDesign or Illustrator or Photoshop.!!
I've tried adjusting the mouse preferences, but it did not make any difference.
It might be good for folks who just use Safari and email, but for designers, it seems to be a very bad idea!!

As mentioned in the link posted by Steve, you can check the setting of Data Execution Prevention.
And according to the following blog, some hardware features that Hyper-V does not utilize and enabling them will prevent Hyper-V from loading.  (If your BIOS doesn't have this hardware feature, then igonre this part)

  • I use an iMac (27" 3.4) and have problems with the Magic Mouse. It does not use contact, but opens useless and unrelated submenus with every click, even on the empty desktop. I can't shift, open or close pages. Has anyone out there the same problem?

I use an iMac 27" (mid 2011). Until recently I had OSX 10.6.8 installed, but both, the HDD and SSD had to be replaced, and I lost all the memory.
After the repair through Apple Care I had OSX 10.7.5. (Lion) installed, which developed a Magic Mouse problem.
Unlike with most users, I have no problems with connection, but grapple with a different kind of erratic behaviour.
All fancy stuff is turned off in the mouse preferences. When I try to move, open or close pages, unrelated submenus pop up and hinder the
required task. No matter how often I click, these menus stay there, and they even come up when clicking on the bare desktop.
It renders the mouse absolutely useless, as no work can be done with it.
The first 'Magic Mouse' had depleted batteries every few days, despite switching it off after use.
I was supplied a new Mouse, which does better battery-wise, but the problems are the same. I can't get a result by clicking on any link, due to
the pop-up menus, so both 'Magic Mice' are totally useless.
At present I am using the old USB mouse from my Mac Pro, and that works still o.k.
The problem are not the mice, but the software. The first 2 weeks after installation of OSX 10.7.5 the Magic Mouse worked though.
I have no idea as to what the reason may be.
Has anyone in the community ever experienced that particular problem. Any hint would be welcomed.
    Thank you!

Not using any mouse pad, I have a very smooth desktop. But I just tried to use a sheet of A4 printing paper, but no result, the problem persisted.
Someone on this forum suggested, that USB3 may interfere with the magic mouse.
I have 2 LaCie HDD's about 70 cm away from the mouse, I use them on Thunderbolt. But in operation or not - the result is the same, the mouse plays up! Just now I was clicking the desktop and the mouse created a new folder!!
    Thanks for the advice, Bee
    Cheers, Gerd

  • How I got the Bluetooth Magic mouse and Aluminum keyboard to work in XP

NOTE: The following steps fixed my issue. I thought I would share what worked for me but I really don't ever visit these discussion groups. I used a combination of Sysinternal tools to isolate what was causing my issue and rectified it.
I couldn't for the life of me get the bluetooth magic mouse and keyboard working in a bootcamp'd windows xp. Here are the steps that I performed to finally get it to work. The assumptions are that you are running a clean XP build with SP3 and all windows updates installed.
    1. Using a USB mouse and keyboard. Insert the OS X install disc into the drive and run through the bootcamp drivers install. (These steps are outlined at Page 12 in the Apple Boot Camp Installation Guide: http://manuals.info.apple.com/en/bootcampinstall-setup.pdf). Let the installers run per apple instructions in the bootcamp installation guide. At the end it will want to reboot. Reboot the system.
    2. After the system reboots login and run the Apple Software Update utility to update from bootcamp 3.1 to 3.2. It will run through a bunch of installers and ask to reboot at the end. Reboot.
    3. After the system reboots login and go to start=>run and type "services.msc" to bring up the services control panel.
    4. Double-click the "Bluetooth Support Service" to open the properties.
    5. Go to the "log on" tab and look to see what is set. If it is set to "NT Authority\LocalService" then click above it to change to "Local System account." Then click "OK." It will tell you the changes won't take effect until the service is restarted. No worries.
    6. You will be back in the main services control panel. Make sure the "Bluetooth Support Service" is highlighted and look up to the left and select "restart the service."
    7. Close all the open windows and then go to start=>run and type "control panel" and hit enter.
    8. Double-click the "Bluetooth devices" control panel applet and follow the Apple instructions provided on Page 18 of the guide referred to earlier. Start with the mouse first. Stop when done with the mouse and don't continue on to the keyboard yet.
    9. At this point my mouse was "installed" but did not show "connected" in the bluetooth devices applet. I then highlighted the mouse and clicked the "properties" button down to the right.
    10. Once in the properties of the mouse I selected the "services" tab. My issue before making the switch to "Local System" account for the Bluetooth services was then when I tried to click the check box to enable "Drivers for keyboard, mice, etc (HID)" I would get an "access denied" error. Now that the switch has been made you should be able to click that check box without error. Click OK after enabling.
    11. You will suddenly see systray (lower right of the screen where the clock is) saying that new hardware has been detected and enabled. Once this is all done you will see "connected" below the device in the Bluetooth applet. Give your mouse a go. It should be working now. Sweet!
    12. Follow the steps in the Apple guide for your keyboard. This should work too now. Sweet!
    Best of luck.

It depends on how far it is and how thick your walls are. If there plasterboard partitions and only 10 feet apart then probably.
If you have a mobile phone with bluetooth, then try sending the computer a picture of file from similar distances to that you intend using the keyboard, if it works then a bluetooth keyboard and mouse should.

  • Magic Mouse only works with laptop open

I bought the Magic Mouse so I could wirelessly awaken my laptop while it was closed and connected to the television.
It worked for months. Now when I awaken the laptop with the mouse it turns on for one second and then turns off.
The mouse works perfectly fine with the laptop open and using the television as a "second monitor". It no longer works how I prefer it with the laptop closed (it's much better because then the sound comes through the TV and not the laptop speakers).
    Why did this suddenly happen?

    Hello Siôn Dafydd,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that you are using an external display with your MacBook Pro and when you close the display on your MacBook Pro, the second display turns off. It sounds as though your MacBook Pro may not be connected to power while using with display closed. Please read over the attached article for information on using a second display in closed-clamshell mode.

    Hello
Simple problem - don,t know how to solve it.
With Premiere CC when I try to do a selection (click... drag... release the click) very often it stop way before the end of the move I'm swinging the Magic Mouse. I taught that the mouse clicking was defective and went to get a new Magic Mouse after lots of frustration. Today, I have an edit to do it it does the SAME thing !!
    I was like ????#$%?&*(???
Opened all the lights and taught I've trow the new mouse to the garbage and was using the defective mouse again... no !! - ??
Actually, the bran new mouse is doing the same thing. What I understand after investigating on the motion and watching carefully my fingers !! -  is that when I click I have to keep my finger at the EXACT same place on the mouse... drag and release and it's fine. If I click by pushing on the mouse and my finder is moving of a 1/32th of a millimeter, it will release and my selection will be to redo. You can understand my frustration ! - 75$ later... same problem, but I know that if I click with about 5 pounds of pressure and trying to pass my finger through the plastic of the mouse, it you stay steady and make it !
The problem is that scrolling is enable while clicking and it bugs.
    How to disable it ??
Simple question - can't find the answer !

    Helllooo !?
sorry but the Magic Mouse is just useless with the new Adobe Premiere CC and since I'm not the only one but can't find answer this is really disappointing. This mouse is just fantastic and now I have to swap from a USB mouse to the Magic Mouse every times I do some editing. My USB mouse if hurting my hand somehow and I want to got back to the Magic Mouse asap. Please - for sure there is a simple solution !
    Thanks !!

  • How come I can't use the back gesture in certain apps with my magic mouse on certain applications in Lion OS?

How come I can't use the back gesture with my magic mouse on certain applications in Lion? I figured out that in Safari i have to use a 1 finger swipe to go back a page instead of 2 fingers like i used to do in Snow Leopard. But apps like iTunes and iPhoto and i can't do that. Any ideas? is there a setting im missing to make this work? It works in Safari but not any other applications, so im assuming theres no setting for this. Just want to know if this is just a bug that will be fixed in the next update or if its something I can fix now. Any help would be appreciated because its kind of annoying. Other than this minor issue I love Lion. Full screen apps are unbelievable.

    Hi.
I managed to compile open-vm-tools and the kernel module against 3.14.5 kernel.  Here is the tarball with the all the files.

    root@P146S011b ~ # mount -t vmhgfs .host:/R /mnt
Could not add entry to mtab, continuing
    root@P146S011b ~ # tail -1 /etc/mtab

    root@P146S011b ~ # cd /mnt

Forgot to add an install file with a depmod -a inside. You will have to run it by yourself

My old magic mouse died and I just bought a new one; how can I synch it? This instructions say I have to navigate to the menu, but without a mouse how can I do that? I'm attempting to do this without borrowing someone elses mouse.

  • Magic Mouse not not able to open folders or files

Magic Mouse not able to open folders or files on desk top. I can drag folders around but not able to open either with a double or single click of the mouse.
Tried an older BT mouse with same effect.
    Command O works fine.

    Hey there kwilli2,
It sounds like your mouse left click is not functioning correctly. I have a couple of things to recommend and see what might be happening. First check in the Universal Access preferences pane to see if either, the double click speed is set to high.
From the Apple () menu, choose System Preferences.
From the View menu, choose Universal Access.
Click the Mouse & Trackpad tab.
For Magic Mouse, click Mouse Options to show these slider controls:
Adjust the sliders to your preference for double-click and scrolling speeds.
From: Magic Trackpad and Magic Mouse: How to adjust double-click and scrolling speed in Lion
              http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4930
If lowering the double click speed does not resolve the issue, I would next try these troubleshooting steps in this article named:
Troubleshooting wireless mouse and keyboard issues
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3048
Mouse buttons do not work as expected.
The Mouse preference pane allows users to customize the mouse features to meet their needs.
Choose System Preferences from the Apple () menu, then choose Mouse from the View menu. Set the Tracking slider to adjust how fast the pointer moves as you move the mouse.
Try using a different surface to see if the tracking improves.
Turn the mouse over and inspect the sensor window. Use compressed air to gently clean the sensor window if dust or debris is present.
If multiple Bluetooth wireless devices are in use nearby, try turning them off one at a time to see if the issue improves. Bandwidth intensive devices could affect tracking.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Sterling
