How to open multiple images in photoshop cs3
Hey, what im trying to do is open multiple images in photoshop cs3 and then blend the images together. But the problem that i am facing is that i can only open one image at a time. Can someone tell me step by step how to do this.
Thanks for the help
Michael
i dont belive i have tabbed view, what i just did, was i draged one photo into phtoshop and then another. When i look to my right, only one iamge shows up in the layers and the other seems to have dissappeaed.
It seems that having a tabbed view is useful, how do i set photoshop to this?

Opening multiple images in Photoshop CS3 windows
I can open an image just fine in Photoshop CS3 by going file-open and clicking on the file, I then want to bring in another image into Photoshop CS3 by using file-open which I can do but then the first image disappears and only the second image is in Photoshop. Any ideas?
Thanks, LarryFreeagent- It worked! Thanks for the advice.

Cannot open JPEG images in Photoshop CS3
When I try to open jpeg pictures in photoshop cs3, i get an error: "Could not complete your request because an unknown or invalid JPEG marker type is found."
It has just recently begun doing this, like maybe three days ago. Has anyone ever seen this error, or know how to solve it?
my system specs... AMD Turion tl-60 @ 2.0 GHz, 4gb Ram in vista 32 SP1, nvidia ge-force 7600, main hdd 200 GB 7200 RPM drive, 2nd hdd 80 GB 5400 RPM driveI am getting errors (same as at top of thread, "invalid JPEG marker") saving a TIF as a JPEG, and then attempting to reopen the JPEG.
It seems to mostly work OK the first time, but if I then reopen the same TIF and save as a JPEG again - that JPEG will usually be corrupted. If I close Elements 2 each time, before opening a TIF and saving another JPEG, there is no problem.
I tried opening the corrupt JPEG with several other programs, and it definitely is corrupted.
This error did not occur several months ago as far as I am aware. We have tried this on all 4 of our computers. I am thinking that a Windows Update may be causing the problem. I tried using System Restore to go back to April 17th, but after 45 mins it announced that it couldn't restore, so I am reluctant to try another date.) -
Is it possible to open multiple images in Photoshop as smart layers?
Hi All,
After searching, I think I know the answer to this but thought I'd check, we have background plates with main images and love the open multiple images as layers option - but can you open multiple images as multiple smart object layers?
CheersThis might work.
Edit: But it is a lot less sophisticated than the Load Files into StackScript.
// select folder and place contents as smart objects;
// 2013, use it at your own risk;
if (app.documents.length > 0) {
var myDocument = app.activeDocument;
// select files;
if ($.os.search(/windows/i) != -1) {var theFiles = File.openDialog ("please select files", '*.jpg;*.tif;*.pdf;*.psd;*.bmp', true)}
else {var theFiles = File.openDialog ("please select files", getFiles, true)};
if (theFiles.length > 0) {
for (var m = 0; m < theFiles.length; m++) {
var theLayer = placeScaleFile(theFiles[m], 0, 0, 100);

Cannot open multiple images in Photoshop
I recently purchased a new laptop (OS: Windows 7 Enterprise, 32 GB RAM) and installed CS5 on it. All of the applications work well except for Photoshop.
At first Photoshop would load correctly but crash when I tried to Save As. I deleted the preference file upon startup and that fixed the problem.
Now every time I open more than one image in photoshop, my screen goes completely black. It doesn't matter whether I try to open them sequentially or all at once. The most I can have open is 2 images. When trying to open a 3rd, or when selecting more than one file to open all at once, the screen goes completely black. Eventually the screen does come back on, with the error that my AMD driver stopped responding and recovered. But now Photoshop is frozen and I have to close Photoshop through the Task Manager. My video card is AMD FirePro M6100 and has been checked for driver updates.
Do we know what could be the source of this problem? And how can I fix it, I often need >2 images open at once.
Thanks!All I coul find is this AMD FirePro M5100 / M6100 Graphics Driver Driver Details | Dell US

In Safari How to open an Image with PhotoShop
Hi everyone.
I need your help, advise...
I have a html page with this tag:
Image
CFD is a Share
If I use Explorer when I click the link (using the File Helpers) the image is open with PhotoShop. I need the same functionality in Safari, is there a way to do that...?
Or how can I accomplish this task?
Thank you for your help.
jhpe.Thanks for your response. I've just started with Javascript scripting in Photoshop so I'm still just a bit confused though .
The code you've provided will return the location on my computer of where the script resides, am I right? And since the script and the images are in the same folder, this should mean a relative address is obtainable?
How could I use this in connection with:
var fileRef = new File("image01.jpg");
var docRef = app.open(fileRef);
where image01,jpg is the image I'd like to open in the same folder as the script?
Thanks again for your help. -
How to open RAW files in photoshop cs3
Three years ago I purchased a Nikon 7000 and the cs3 will not open the Raw files
That would require ACR 6.3 which shipped with Photoshop CS5. Your best bet is to convert your Raw files to dng format and then they should open in CS3.
Get the latest DNG converter here:

Why can I no longer open images with Photoshop CS3, running on Mac OS 10.4.11?
You may be able to drag and drop the icons from one toolbar onto another, you can then hide the toolbar that you no longer need. For details on how to do that see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/How+to+customize+the+toolbar

How to Open Multiple Files into One Image with a Format Plug-in?
Basic overview question:
I'm interested in creating a format plug-in that will open multiple image files and combine them, then provide one image to Photoshop for further work.
1. Can an .8bi plug-in receive notification of multiple files to be opened? (Not unlike Camera Raw). Or does one absolutely need to use an .8ba Import plug-in to do this? I would prefer .8bi.
2. Assuming yes, could the latter parts of the plug-in interface be used to open just one combined image?
Thanks!
-Noel1) An import plugin (8bi) doesn't get file information - it has to provide it's own open dialog. Only a file format plugin gets a file, but only one at a time. (ACR has some special magic)
You might want to take a look at the PhotoMerge and MergeToHDR setups with a script driving a plugin. -
Photoshop CC crashes when opening multiple images
Has anyone else got this problem of PS CC crashing when trying to open multiple images? If you open one file at a time, there are no issues, but 2 or more and it crashes as shown below. I've tried it with JPG's, TIFF's and PSD's and still get the same problem.
I've also tried starting it while pressing alt/ctrl/shift, but still get the same problem.
PS CC is version 14.0, 32 bit, running on Windows 7 which is up to date. I do only have 4GB RAM, of which PS takes 60% of it according to the system info panel. Could this be one of the causes, or is it a bug in the software? I never had this problem before in CS6 or previous.
Thanks in advance.Found it eventually!

How can I make a photo that is 10 x 6.6 to 10 x 8 without changing the image in Photoshop CS3?
I could be snarky and say change the image in a different version of Photoshop, but NO...
The only way to make a photo that is one size into another size is to change the image. You have a few choices about how to change it:
One way is to simply expand the height from 6.6 to 8 inches using Image>Canvas Size, using the default setting of having the image centered and leaving the background either black or white, your preference. This will add background color to the top and bottom of your image. This won't change the image itself, but it will change its surroundings.
Another way is to resize the image using Image>Image Size, entering the new dimensions after turning off the aspect ratio lock (resample on). This will stretch the image vertically, however, so it's probably not a good option.
Finally, you could resize the image using Image>Image Size, leaving the aspect ratio lock on and resample on, and increase the height from 6.6 to 8. This will have the secondary effect of enlarging the width from 10" to a greater width. Then you crop the resulting image back down to 10" width, which involves losing some edge areas of the image. -
Photoshop Elements 13 how to open an image as a layer?
Hello, I recently received as asked Photoshop Elements 13 for Christmas, and have been using Gimp for about a year now as a substitute. However, when I went to start a project, I couldnt figure out how to open an image as a layer. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!
Heres an example with 2 images. I want to get the image you see in this picture, and place it in the original image as a layer, not a separate project.

Opening raw images in Photoshop Elements 9
When opening raw images in Photoshop Elements 9 (File -> Open or File -> Open As), the Adobe Camera Raw dialog do not open.
Instead I get a window with a progress bar and the text "Reading Camera Raw Format".
The image then opens in the Photoshop Elements editor.
I have tested this with raw images both from Canon EOS 1000D and Samsung WB2000 cameras.
I would appreciate any suggestions on how to solve this issue.
I run Photoshop Elements on a HP netbook running Widows XP and with an Intel Atom N450 / 1.66 GHz processor, 2 GB ram and a screen resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels.Unfortunately you can't see the raw converter in PSE 9 on screens less than 800 px tall, which means not on netbooks. PSE will automatically convert it for you, but that dialog box and a few others, like the Advanced Downloader window, will not appear.

How to open multiple files on one layer
hi there,
I have a fairly simple problem and I browsed through all the different FAQs to find it but nothing came up. In any case, my question is how do you select multiple files (in this case PNGs) and open them as individual layers on one file instead of opening them as separate files?
easy huh? I'm a noob ok.
thanks
-ChanceRussell Brown has a CS4 version of his services.
As Wolf points out, if you have CS4 then you already have access to a script that will also do what you want. I happened to notice though, that the built-in script and the Russell Brown script work slightly differently. The RB script will crop all images based on the first one loaded. The built-in script will apparently use the dimensions of the largest image.
It was a nit but I thought the title of the thread would be more accurate as "Help opening multiple images as layers in a single file" or something like that. -
Does anyone know how to select multiple files in photoshop cs6 on macbook pro lion
I'm new to Mac operating system. Can anyone tell me how to select multiple images in cs6 photoshop? Without having to hold down a shift or cmd key and clicking on each one.
I assume you are using the Shape tool to draw your hexagons. After you drag out the shape, use the Transform controls to tweak the size, so that the width is evenly divisible by 4, and the height is an even number. If you wand a gap between shapes, include that in your adjustments. Make a note of the new width and height.
Once the scaling is committed and the shape is selected, Control+Alt+T to Free Transform Copy, and in the Option Bar, set the X and Y to Relative. Set X to zero, and Y to the height you set earlier, and commit the Transform. Then Repeatedly press Shift+Control+Alt+T to make more transformed copies.
With a vertical column of shapes, Alt-Click on the Shape Path in the Paths panel to select the whole path. Control+Alt+T again. This time, again using relative, set X to three-quarters of the width you noted earlier, and Y to one-half the height, and commit
Finally, again Alt-click on the Shape Path in the Paths panel, and Transform Copy relative with X = one and a half times the width you noted, and Y to zero. After committing this, Shift+Control+Alt+T as above to extend more columns.
And JJ, those are Octagons .
