How to open only one clip at a time in the source monitor?

Ok the answer to this question may be simple.. hopefully...
At the moment each time I open a clip in the source monitor it adds it to the dropdown list.
Fine... but I am opening and closing hundreds of clips in a day and after a while I noticed it seemed to be slowing down the whole PPCS5.5 system.
It appears that PP seems to be keeping each clip I open... active.
Is there a way to allow only one clip to be open at a time in the source monitor... other than having to close them all first??? (would be ideal if there was some kind of shortcut like shift-doubleclick)

SonyZ7's can record to compact flash cards as well as tape, so I generally log and transfer from the cards.
So I guess I should do a bit more research on workflow's in Pr
No probs, here's a bunch of MediaInfo...

  • How do you allow one component at a time in the GUI to be selected?

    I have a tree and a combo box in my GUI. Does any one know of a method or way to allow the selection of one component at a time in the GUI only?
    For example, if i selected a node in the tree (it becomes highlighted), then made a choice from the combo box...I would like the node in the tree to be deselected.
    Thanks!!!

    Yeah add a focuslistener to everything and on focuslost clear the selection

  • How to open only one web page at a time?

    HI Janice,
    You can use a keyboard shortcut to close all windows in Safari. CommandShiftW.
    To close one window, Command + W.

  • How do I rotate one clip in timeline and not the rest

    When I rotate one clip in the timeline 90 degrees it rotates all the clips 90 degrees.

    Bear5067
    If all the clips have the same color title bar, you are selecting all the clips at one time or none of the clips is selected. You need to select only the one that you want to rotate otherwise you will get what you are getting, that is, all the clips rotated instead of just the one. Is your mouse working so that clicking on a clip with it selects the clip?
    Based on how I interpreted what you wrote, we need to zero in on the clip selection. Please try again, and, if you have not already, expand the Timeline so that you can see its contents and clip distinctions. For expanding the Timeline content view, please refer to the -+ slider above the Timeline as shown in the right sector of the following screenshot
    The -+ slider has an icon on either side of it, one is named Zoom Out (- ) and the other on the right Zoom In (+ ).
    In the screenshot here, the two clips have the darker blue color indicating neither is selected at this point.
    Please review, and then we can decide what is going on with the clip selection process in your workflow.
    Thanks for the follow ups.

  • Chp Play lists - how to play only one chapter at a time

    CS4
    The setup:
      2 timelines
      1 menu
      1 chapter playlist
      3 buttons (all, wedding, reception)
    I'm not seeing how to make the DVD return to the main menu after playing chp 1 (Button 2 [wedding]), if user clicks button 2 which is linked to chapter 1 thru a playlist on timeline 1.
    That is, I can set the end action of timeline 1, I can set the end action of the playlist, and I can set the end action of ch1 by way of the playlist panel.
    It appears ch1  wants its end action set to start playing chp2 (button 3 [reception]) to provide thru play if the `All' (button 1) has been used.
    How then can cause chapter one to be played and at the end return to main menu instead of going an to button 3 as It would if user had hit button 1.
    (all).
    What I end up with is a situation where if user wants to view only chapter 1 by hitting button 2 (wedding).... it still continues on to button 3 (reception) at the end.
    Since I needed this project done now... I took the hardway around and ground out another piece of video containing only chapter 1.
    Now I get the result I was after, but it seems very inefficient.  Ch1 on in the playlist is just setting there unused and I suspect there is a smarter way to do it.
    To cut down on the amont of data on the DVD, I guess I could have gone ahead and made a piece of video contaiing only ch 2 (button 3 [reception]).
    But still that too, although I've saved considerable data being written to DVD, it still seems pretty inefficient.   And I suspect the playlist is provided just so I don't have to do it this way.
    Can anyone outline how to deal with multiple chapters so that the DVD returns to the main menu after chp1 or any other chapter that has chpters following it. (If user so desires)?

    Stan Jones wrote:
    The chapter playlist will be one chapter, which you appear to have set up.
    Set the END ACTION of that CHAPTER PLAYLIST to last menu.
    Yes I have.  Are you saying that if I set the End action of ch_PlayList to last menu, that then when a user hits button 2 which is linked to chp1 on the playlist,  that play will stop after chp1 (button 2) has played?
    As apposed to what I have done as descripted... setting Ch_plylist end action to Main menu/default.
    In that setup pressing buttob2 ends up playing right thru the whole thing rather than stopping at the end of ch1.
    PS - I'm busily coping a project to a test area now, but how can test that without having to play clear thru chp1 to see what happens?
    OH Wait.. are you saying NOT to include chp2 in the playlist?.... ahhh now that makes sense.
    Thanks for the input.

  • How to play only one episode of a podcast on the iPod Classic 120GB?

    With my previous iPod-- the 60GB iPod Photo-- I could play only one episode of a podcast. I would scroll to "Podcasts" on the main menu, find the name of the podcast I wanted to hear, click on an episode and only that one would play. If I wanted to listen to all the episodes of that particular podcast, I'd access it through the Playlist feature.
    The system above for playing a single episode doesn't seem to work on the iPod Classic 120 GB. All the episodes play no matter how I access the podcast.
    What am I overlooking?
    Thanks.

    I must have had the Shuffle setting turned on for the old iPod, but I forgot all about that.
    Probably not! My 30GB video iPod will only play one Podcast episode at a time and this does not change by using shuffle. I think your 60Gb iPod was the same as the 30GB.
    As S_Edwards has posted and as you have found, the Classic does use shuffle to alter the way Podcasts are played. Quite why Apple use shuffle to control single or continuous playing of Podcasts, and then not document it either, is a mystery.
    As a useful reminder, while the Podcast is playing, the screen display will show 1 of 1 to denote single-episode mode or 1 of x to denote continuous-episode mode.

  • Acrobat will open only one pdf at a time.

    Hi. Can someone please clarify for me why Adobe Acrobat will open allow one pdf to be visible at a time. If addtional pdf's are opened they display as black. Means I cannot stitch multiple pdfs together.
    Am using Windows 7 Pro and Acrobat X Pro. Attached below is screen shot of 2 pdfs open at same time. The one behind is fine while the one in front appears black but if was opened on its own would open fine.
    Thanks

    That looks like a graphics driver bug - try turning off/on hardware acceleration under Acrobat's preferences, and ensure your drivers are up to date.
    Acrobat doesn't tend to play well with multiple-monitor setups, but it shouldn't do what you're seeing.

  • Only one computer at a time through the router WRT 110

    We have a Compaq laptop (Vista) with built-in wireless that connects through the router just fine. We have a new HP desktop (Vista) with a Linksys wireless card  that connects through the router just fine. When either is connected the signal strength is excellent.  But if we try to connect either machine while the other is already online, it will not connect and it disconnects the first machine. We have to shut both machines down, shut off the router for 30 seconds, restart the router, restart the desktop, and restart the laptop. Usually (but not always) both machines will then go online. Everybody's happy unless one of the machines goes to sleep. If you then "wake up" that machine, you have to start the whole process over again. I have tried several times to set up the router with a wired connection, I have set up both machines numerous times, transferring the settings for the network back and forth. I have tried setting up a new network. Most of the things work until one of the machines is shut down and then started again. I know it has to be in the router settings but I don't know where to go to solve this. Driving me batty, going in circles.....HELP!!!

    Try to readjust the wireless settings of your router :
    Open an Internet Explorer browser page on your wired computer(desktop).In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1 and press Enter...Leave Username blank & in Password use admin in lower case...
    For Wireless Settings, please do the following : -
    Click on the Wireless tab
    - Here select manual configuration...Wireless Network mode should be mixed...
    - Provide a unique name in the Wireless Network Name (SSID) box in order to differentiate your network from your neighbours network...
    - Set the Radio Band to Standard-20MHz and change the Standard channel to 11-2.462GHz...Wireless SSID broadcast should be Enabled and then click on Save Settings...
    Please make a note of Wireless Network Name (SSID) as this is the Network Identifier...
    For Wireless Security : -
    Click on the Sub tab under Wireless > Wireless Security...
    Change the Wireless security mode to WEP, Encryption should be 64 bit.Leave the passphrase blank, don't type in anything...Under WEP Key 1 type in any 10 numbers please(numbers only and no letters eg: your 10 digit phone number) and click on save settings...
    Please make a note of WEP Key 1 as this is the Security Key for the Wireless Network...
    Click on Advanced Wireless Settings
    Change the Beacon Interval to 75 >>Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304, Change the RTS Threshold to 2304 >>Click on "Save Settings"...
    Now see if you can locate your Wireless Network and attempt to connect...

  • Open only one folder at a time

    Hello.....  I am sorry, but I can't figure this out.  When I go into my folders (I have folders inside of folders, inside of folders)  I would like to open the first, then the second and then hit back to go back, rather than all of the folders opening each time and having to close each one.
    Hope that somewhat makes sense!

  • Creating iphoto book and can't seem to view/ work on only one page at a time.

    I am creating an iPhoto book and can't seem to view/work on only one page at a time.  The Navigator, that allows you to focus on a part of the page is actually 1 1/2 pages in size so 1 1/2 pages are in view when trying to work on one page.  What am I doing wrong or how can I fix this.  It is very distracting viewing half of a previous page when trying to create a new page and write a story to go with the related pictures.

    My Navigator seems to be to large.  It covers 1 1/2 pages while in the training information it shows as the size of one page.  Is there a way to adjust the size of the Navigator?
    You can hover the mouse over the left border of the Navigator - then the cursor will turn into a resize cursor and you can drag the border and make the Navigator panel smaller by enlarging the source list.
    Or drag the lower right corner of the iPhoto window and shrink the appliaction window. This will only make the navigator smaller - the source list and information panel will stay the same size.

  • Help--How can I open only one java program at one time?

    How can I open only one java program(same program) in Windows at one time?

    In Java 1.5, you can use the JVM's own monitoring APIs to examine what other JVMs are running on the system, and what applications they're running.
    It's general and powerful, but complex. The socket/file/whatever approach is cleaner, and probably more suited to your usage.
    Don't bother trying to use the Windows task manager for this sort of thing. You have to write messy native code, and it isn't reliable after all that anyway.

  • I want to open only one JInternalFrame

    How do I control the MainGUI (JDeskTopPane) to open only ONE listenInputWindow (JInternalFrame)? There is my wrony code, but I do not know how to correct. I can open another listenInputWindow even one is already on Desktop.
    public class MainGUI extends javax.swing.JFrame {
    InputMenuFrame listenInputWindow;
    /** Creates new form MainGUI */
    public MainGUI() {
    initComponents(); //Method to create the MainGUI
    private void inputMenuItemActionPerformed(java.awt.event.ActionEvent evt) {
    if (listenInputWindow == null) { //suppose this line to control the opening
    InputMenuFrame listenInputWindow = new InputMenuFrame();
    listenInputWindow.setLocation(600, 0);
    listenInputWindow.setVisible(true);
    desktopPane.add(listenInputWindow);
    }

    Great :)
    Please try to be more specific - generally you do not want to have your GUI driven by embedded code.
    Consider structuring your app to use the GUI to trigger events in Observerable objects.... this does a number of things, prevents write/paint lockups, permits changing the GUI without affecting the underlying code and vice versa....
    If you could provide more detail as to what you need perhaps I could offer a couple of hints...
