How to open photos in Elements 12

I opened a photo in My Pictures and Elements 12 opened up but the photo didn't appear to edit.  When I used Elements 7 it opened up okay.

Nothing was saved "in" CS4. Bridge is just a browser; it just shows you the current state of any folder you point it at. Just figure out where the photos are and use file>get photos>from files and folders, if you really want to use organizer.
I don't understand at all about itunes music getting downloaded. Never ever heard of that.

How to upload photos from elements 9 to Revel

There is no direct link from PSE 9 to revel the way there was to photoshop.com. Revel didn't exist when PSE 9 was written and there's nothing in PSE 9 that can understand or connect with Revel. You are not going to be able to do everything you could do with photoshop.com, like keep your catalog synced. You use a web browser and find your photos to share exactly the same way you would if they were not in the organizer at all.

  • How to export photos from Elements Organizer on Mac?

I saw someone asked the same question and it seemed not to be possible with the Mac version. Surely this can't be possible as this must be one of the single most important functions in an Archving system.

    rugfoot wrote:
The problem is I can't move them to a new folder. If I could I wouldn't have the export problem. I just dragging and dropping but it doesn't work. I have made a selection (15) of photos in Elements Organizer but I can't identify which ones they are (from 300) in the Mac Finder app (= Windows Explorer).
Sorry, I can't test that on a Mac, but I thought that 'Windows only' features would be stated on the Adobe pdf help file, and moving file is not mentionned as Windows only, whereas 'export' is clearly stated as Windows only.

By the way, the very useful faq list in the right panel of this forum links to PSE9, not PSE10 for the location of the guides.

  • Can't open photo in Elements 9

I am unable to open the edit page after not saving the last photo I worked on in elements 9 can anyone please advise

Hi, thanks for responding to my query, and sorry that I have not replied before, I am getting on a bit and get lost in the pages.
If I am in the Organiser and try to go to editor I get  the following, "this command could not be completed because the editor was busy"
If I start adobe in the editor, I can work on the photo causing the problem but when I try to save it the photo is copied with a different number,
I would appreciate any help you can offer,

I see what you're referring to. It must be a special theme. There are several 3rd party theme providers that might have that feature in it's download section. Google iDVD themes and see what you find.
I've not tried all of the iDVD dark themes so don't know if one one them will provide that enlargement. Maybe the theme used was modified but that's out of my realm.

  • How to open photos large enough to edit or view?

I am unable to view photos in any size larger than the basic thumbnail.  When I double click, the photo remains small.  When I go to full screen mode, the photo remains small but is centered in the middle of the full screen.  It is very difficult to see the picture well enough to edit or anything.  In past versions of iPhoto, a double click on the photo would open the photo.
I am using a MacBook Pro, 10.9.5, and iPhoto 9.5.1.  I would love to return to the previous version of iPhoto but understand that is not possible.
How can I open my photos to work with them (or to even view them)?
    Thank you!

    Try the following:
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down to open the First Aid window. Be sure to follow the circled recommendation in the screenshot.
    2 - run Option #4, Rebuild Database.
If that fails copy the library over again manually by dragging it from the old Mac to the new Mac.  Others have had problems with Migration Assistant and iPhoto Libraries.

  • How to delete photos in Elements 12 Organizer?

Been using Elements 6 for years.  Bought E12 to go with a new iMac.  I am totally bewildered by 12.  Simple 1 or 2 click things have become procedures.
Like deleting pictures from the Organizer... the Delete function is grayed-out in the pull down menu.  Jeez, it seems like a fairly simple thing to do, but I can't find an answer in either of the two books I now own and the darn video tutorials I've sat through! Your help is appreciated!

    Just fixed the typos!

Have you tried clicking once on the photo you want to delete and then press DEL button?  This should do the trick.
This deletes the image from the catalog but if you want to delete the HD then check the box shown in this picture:

Hello experienced people.  Can someone please tell me to open a number of photos and see them as different layers in the right hand panel.  I am trying to learn HDR and need to be able to see the different exposures as layers so that I can move them around and use the best bits.

Open all your images and drag and drop each one from the project bin into the main editing window.

  • Upgrade to elements 11 - how to find photos from elements 3

My new computer runs windows 7.  All files have been transferred (by computer store staff) to the new one. I have elements 3 which worked fine on my old computer.  But the application won't open on the new computer; I get "lack of or invalid registration information".  I can't find the disk to re install elements 3.  However, I have the disk for Elements 2.  But the drive on the new computer won't read the disk (I use this drive often for other disks and it works fine).  I'm trying to import all the work I've done over the years in elements 2&3 into my newly purchased elements 11.   I watched the tutorial on upgrading from a prior version but it seems that you have to open the old version first in order to repair & import into elements 11.  My problem is I can't access the prior version.  Can someone help me?  thanks so much.

Do you know if the shop restored all the old system folders?
    Try a search for catalog.pse*
But first use the Organizer menu:
    File >> Manage Catalog
Then click the convert button and see if any previous catalog is listed.

  • How to open photos as a list?

    Hello,
I've always been annoyed at iPhoto's inability to resize images – especially since Preview can.
So I made a droplet to resize images for me (see end) and set it as my external editor.
Unfortunately, if I try to open multiple images from iPhoto, it only opens the first one (no problems in the Finder). I think this problem is because iPhoto opens images one at a time, not in a list. If anyone can get iPhoto to open images in a list, or better still, resize images from within iPhoto, I would be very grateful.
(*I used lots of public online code in this script*)
    on open sels
set bhv to (display dialog "Height in pixels:" default answer "900" buttons {"Cancel", "Open All", "Resize All"} default button "Resize All")
set rbhv to the button returned of bhv
if rbhv = "open all" then tell application "Preview"
    open sels
    activate
    end tell
if rbhv = "Resize All" then
    repeat with sel in sels
    try
    tell application "Image Events"
    launch
    set ln to 1
set img to open sel as alias
set ln to ln + 1
    copy dimensions of img to {oldx, oldy}
set ln to ln + 1
set newy to text returned of bhv
set newy to (run script newy)
set rat to (newy / oldy)
set newx to (oldx * newy) / oldy
    end tell
    if newy > oldy then
set skp to the button returned of (display dialog "Image too small" buttons {"Resize", "Skip"} default button "Skip")
if skp = "Skip" then error
    end if
    tell application "Image Events"
    if oldy > oldx then
scale img to size (newy as integer)
    else
scale img to size (newx as integer)
    end if
    save img
    end tell
    end try
    end repeat
    end if
    end open

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. You only have 450 photos? Why are you worried about file space with only 450 photos? It seems like a lot of work for such small space saving. If you're editing a photo for a project or specific use just use the Photos->Revert to Original menu option after you've completed the project. That will remove the modified version.
Or, use Preview as the external editor to use from within iPhoto.
Using 2 Image Editors in iPhoto
If you want to use both iPhoto's editing mode and a 3rd party editor without having to go back and forth to the Preference pane, once you've selected the 3rd party editor as your editor of choice, reset the Preferences back to "Open in main window". Then when you Control-click on an image, you can select "Edit in external editor" in the Contextual menu to edit in your selected editor.
The do your edit with iPhoto as you normally would. Then Control-click on the thumbnail and select Edit in external Editor. When the photo comes up in Preview, do your reduction thing and save. That will reduce the size of the modified version.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • How do i open photos in photoshop elements 9

I have loaded Photoshop Elements 9 on my MacBook Pro and cannot open photos. I also have IPhoto running

The following is how to use PSE from within iPhoto:
Using Photoshop (or Photoshop Elements) as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop.  When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.  3 - however, if you get the navigation window
that indicates that  PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file.  You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements 9 the Saving File preferences should be configured as shown:
I also suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.  In PSE’s General preference pane set the Color Picker to Apple as shown:
NOTE: If you want to use both iPhoto's editing mode and PS without having to go back and forth to the Preference pane, once you've selected PS as your editor of choice, reset the Preferences back to "Open in main window".  That will let you either edit in iPhoto (double click on the thumbnail) or in PS (Control-click on the thumbnail and seledt "Edit in external editor" in the Contextual menu).  This way you get the best of both worlds.
