How to open preferences in itunes

I'm trying to get a new phone but I need my ESN, MEID,OR IMEI

Connect the phone to iTunes and click on it in the device list. Then click on the serial number in the summary pane. Each click will bring up another of those numbers.

  • How to open app in iTunes on mac

Can anyone tell me how to open new app that I downloaded from iTunes Store on my mac computer

If you downloaded an app from the iTunes Store itself, within the iTunes Application, these are for iPhones and iPads only. Applications for Macs can be purchased in the 'App Store' application in your Applications folder.
Apps written for iPads and iPhones cannot be run on a Mac. They have to be transferred to the device.

  • How to restore preferences on iTunes after an archive & install

    Hi,
My main HD had some critical problems that needed to be fixed and overcome using Disk Warrior. After that my OS was non-functional, so I proceeded to do an archive & install. Now upon using iTunes, I've always had my iTunes library on a separate HD because of the many thousands of mp3s I have. Now the problem is that with the archive and install I have lost all my star ratings for ALL my tracks plus I've also lost the many, many playlists I created in the past. I made everything according to my preferences over a good number of years and CANNOT face going through it again!
Is there a .plist file I can salvage from my old system folder that will update my new copy of iTunes?
Please help I'm pretty desperate here :-P

I actually found it out going along on my own actually. What I did was make iTunes load with the library from my previous system iTunes folder which for some reason wasn't present on my master HDD. Everything was back to normal like it should be with ratings, settings and all intact \o/
I actually never bothered looking, but now I realized that iTunes ALWAYS has to make its folders under /Users/xyz user/Music regardless of where the mp3s are stored. I actually didn't realize that the library settings were stored on the master HDD separate to where the mp3s were stored, which was on the slave HDD. Does anyone know why iTunes doesn't just keep all the information together, or migrate that information according to where you want the source of the iTunes library to be?
Thanks to all who replied to my message, I'm so relieved that it has all been rectified and the unnecessary hassle been thrown out the window!

  • How can I combine two iTunes media folders without losing media?

I have two media folders.  One on an external drive that I used on an old PC before migrating to a new one, and my internal HDD on the new PC.  My internal drive became nearly full so I had to start using my external drive and iTunes media folder again.  So, right now iTunes looks to my internal drive for most of the media and my external drive for some of it.  Now, I need to move all the media files back to the external drive and, hopefully, in one place.  The primary challenge is that I don't know how to move the media files (and metadata) efficiently.  I just don't know which folders have been affected and so a standard copy -> paste won't work because the PC will try to overwrite the folders and I have no idea which ones can be overwritten and which can't.  Ugh...does this make sense?  Thank you!!!

    Hi there theskyisblue,
You can indeed switch between two different iTunes libraries, and this article outlines how:
iTunes: How to open an alternate iTunes Library file or create a new one
If iTunes is running, quit iTunes.
If you're using Windows, hold down the Shift key and from the Start menu, choose All Programs > iTunes > iTunes.
If you're using a Mac, open iTunes and immediately hold down the Option key.
You should see one of these screens:

Assuming you use the iTunes default settings where iTunes copied added items to your iTunes folder and organizes your library (meaning - everything is all self contained in the iTunes folder), then all you have to do is drag & drop your iTunes folder (not just the iTunes Music folder you find inside the iTunes folder) to the external drive and copy the entire thing.
If you want to test that it worked or would like to actually start using it from that location instead, use these instructions when you start iTunes to point it to the new location...

If you are just testing, then close iTunes after you verify it works, and restart iTunes again with the same instructions and point it back to your internal drive (original) location.

  • How to sync and play itunes movies in 1080p hd on iPhone 4S/5/5s or iphone 6 plus

About 6 months ago I discovered iTunes was set by default to 720p. These MUST BE CHANGED TO 1080P!!!!!!!!.......So I installed FULL 1080P file on my laptop on iTunes...  When I download movies on iPhone 5s/iPad mini the file is 720p.... So within about 60 seconds of starting download of 1080p files into my laptop of iTunes purchases. It was at that moment that I realized it was that file my laptop has on file to sync to my Apple device...Ten minutes later when the first 1080P HD file was downloaded  I must say... The resolution is amazing... I now use this same process to install movie files from iTunes.. In FULL 1080P.. Not 720P... Works on my iPad mini also... Avatar is 5.4 GB if installed over Wi-Fi... However sync with laptop and file is 6.5 GB in size... Called Apple told them... No reply yet.... You must delete 720P files from your laptop... Look for file size in any movie purchase and you will see DOWNLOAD IN 1080P.. This will open preferences in iTunes for you to the correct tab so you can change setting to 1080p from default of 720p... DELETE any downloaded movies already downloaded into laptop... You can check file quality by right click on any movie folder and the look at movie info... Will say 720p HD... Delete to recycle bin and iCloud will appear on each movie... Now download 1080P HD file... When completed. Right click any file to verify it is 1080P HD... The sync with device...... And get ready to be upset with Apple for holding back your device for the last 2 years 3 months and 16 days......And be ready to catch your jaw from hitting the floor when you see your screen in full 1080P HD.... Apple Engineer's were asleep.....
    <Edited By Host>

Currently There is only one option to watch 1080P movies from iTunes on your Apple devices... With a sync with a laptop.. Apple by default sends the 720P file... Users have no option to control video download... Some like me want the full file... Some uses may think the 720P file is fine... However I see the difference... And it is big.. The iPhone has a 1080P camera... So it can play and store a 1080P file... And the screen does display a better image... Just watching a iTunes movie and shooting a video in 1080P on your iPhone and you can see the image is better.. YES it's 1080P... not 720... Apple has know from release of iPhone 5 on September 21,2012 iPhone can play 1080P file... However the system is overloaded as I seen on my Apple T.V. On Christmas say ready to pay is 8 hours 22 minutes... I pay for 50MBps download and 5MBps download.. fastest I can get in my area... It's obvious it will load Apple's network and the don't want to make the changes... Users now wanting 1080p files for iPhones/iPads.... The system load would jump off the scale... I contacted Apple told them the issues, currently they have stopped emailing me replies on the issue after issue was escalated to Apple engineers... Apple knows... Yet...
I want control of what file I download into my device over Wi-Fi... Apple has missed the ball for over two years... Missed it rolling down the hall... Missed it bouncing down the stairs.... Missed it as it rolled across the street and is still going with no fix yet....

  • How do I unmerge two itunes libraries?

My son and I are both on itunes on the computer.  When he added his itunes account to this computer, it merged his library with mine so that now we have one library.  I would like there to be two separate libraries.  Any ideas?

    Hi ajennings822,
So it sounds as if you and your son are using the same user account on your computer and are sharing the same iTunes library, and you want to separate his music out from yours, is that correct?
One way to do this would be to create a new iTunes Library for his use and then move his music into it. Once this is done you can each select the music library you want to use when starting up iTunes. See this article for reference -
iTunes: How to open an alternate iTunes Library file or create a new one - Apple Support
Another way would be to create a totally different user account for your son in Windows. Use the steps in this article under Create a new user account -
iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8: Fix unexpected quits or launch issues - Apple Support
Once the user account is set up, launch iTunes and it will come up with an empty library. He can then move his music into the new library.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
    Best,

  • How do I set up iTunes to get music and movies from 2 different hard drives?

I have an iMac and a 2 TB Apple Time capsule. I am creating a disk image on the time capsule so I can use 1TB for Time Machine backups and the other 1TB as a wireless external hard drive. The main reason for this is I only have a 500GB hard drive an my iMac and I would like to store all of my movies on the Time Capsule. How do I set up iTunes to pull my music and evrything else like it currently is on my iMac's hard drive, but access my Time Capsule's hard drive for movies?
    Is this even possible?
    Thanks,

You need to use one iTunes library for music and another alternate library for your movies.  This explains how to open an alternate iTunes Library file or create a new one, http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1589

  • 300 gig of music on external drive how do I access from Itunes

I bought a new 500 gig external drive and it came loaded with 300 gigs of music. It was supposedly installed with itunes, but I cannot access it when I install itunes on my machine. How to open an alternate iTunes Library file link, but it does not recognize the files. Am I going to have to create another folder on my external drive and then import the music into it a bit at a time (since I don't have enough room to do it all at once), or is ther a way to just index what I have into iTunes?
    Thanks
    Doug

I did an add file to library with the entire music library and after all day of processing it is now showing up and did not duplicate the setup. I had changed the save location to the music folder under preferances first. Thanks for the help. I guess it is time to figure out playlists next. Then go buy the iPod.

  • HT1364 I have moved my library to an external hard drive and changed the location of the iTunes media folder in Preferences, but every time I close and re-open iTunes, I have to do it all over again.  How can I make the iTunes media folder change permanen

I have moved my library to an external hard drive and changed the location of the iTunes media folder in Preferences, but every time I close and re-open iTunes, I have to do it all over again.  How can I make the iTunes media folder change permanent?  I have an older machine with Windows XP.

I don't believe mounting the hard drive should be necessary, unless you have several external drives and want your computer to recognise them as folders, rather than drives. I've never had to mount a hard drive, ever. If you don't know how to do it, then it shouldn't be necessary now.
    Try this:
Prepare iTunes so that it can see the external drive.
Make a note of which drive-letter the external drive has been allocated. (Look in Windows Exploer)
Look at the file location for a song. Make sure it plays (and therefore that iTunes has found it). Highlight it and select File/Get Info/Summary>Where: and make a note of the drive letter for that song.
Close and shut down the computer.
The next time you turn the computer on again, connect the external drive
Before you start iTunes - check the external drive in Windows Explorer. Is it ready, does it have the same drive-letter that it had last time? Can you go into the drive and see the files on it?
Once you can, start iTunes. (If the drive lettter has changed, you need to work out why before going any further.)
If iTunes fails to find your external drive, you need to check where iTunes is looking for your Library.
Select the same song you checked before (presumably iTunes can no longer find it). Follow the procedure for locating it. You should be able to see where iTunes thinks the file is. It's the drive that counts. Which drive letter is iTunes looking at? Is it the same one that it was previously (which should also be the same one that the drive has now).
What happens, which step do you have problems with?
