How to open .raw files in Lightroom?
Hi
One of my clients sent me .raw-files to use them for a flyer design.
Since I have my own Nikon D90, which has no problems taking pictures in RAW and converting them to .NEF in Photoshop Lightroom, I thought it would be as easy as that to do this with the .raw files but it isn't.
Since they were sent via WeTransfer, I am wondering how I can open them in Photoshop or Lightroom?
Thanks
Bob
I wish I could but even Adobe DNG Converter doesn't seem to be able to fix it... :@
I sent my client an email to ask him for the photographer's contact information, and I'll see if he can sent me the .DNG files...
Other options if he can't send the .DNG?

How to open NRW-files in Lightroom 4?I
just bought Nikon's Coolpix P7800. It says you can shoot in Raw. Now I want to open these files in LR, just like I'm used to with my SLR's. But Nikon uses the NRW-format for Raw and LR says it doesn't recognise the files. Does someone know if there's a way to convert and work with these files in LR 4?
Thanks Jim for your response,
I will upgrade to 5.3

created by JimHess in Photoshop Lightroom - View the full discussionThe only way to use those files with Lightroom 4 is to convert them to DNG using DNG converter 8.3 or higher. The camera wasn't supported in Lightroom until version 5.3. Can photoshop CC open raw files from Lightroom 5?
Trying to open raw files from Lightroom 5 in Photoshop CC 2014, with no luck.
Anyone?Problems are as follows— all versions are current.
1. When in Lightroom, trying to open a photo in Photoshop,-- choosing Photo>Edit in Photoshop CC 2014— Photoshop opens but no photo appears. The only time a photo opens is if it is a JPEG… CR2 does not open, dng does not open
2. When trying to open a JPEG in Photoshop, dialog box opens offering choice between "Edit Original", "Edit a copy", or "Edit with Lightroom adjustments", Only choosing “Edit Original” allows photo to open.
3. When in Photoshop choosing “Browse in Bridge” does not open Bridge… opens CC app and prompts me to install another version of Bridge, or keep version I have. (See attached screenshot) Either way it’s a malfunction… as I said earlier all versions are leanest.
PLEASE HELP!!

How to open raw files from a panasonic gx7 in lightroom 4
just bought a panasonic gx7 camera unable to open the raw files in lightroom 4,elements 9 and elements 11. have downloaded dng 8.2 still wont open raw files
You can't just download the DNG converter. It has to be installed. It is a standalone program that you must run independently from Lightroom. You choose a FOLDER in the DNG converter, and it will convert all the images in that folder. Have you tried to do these things?

just purchase panasonic gx7 camera unable to open raw files in elements 9,elements 11,lightroom 4 but will open in trial version of lightroom 5.have downloaded dng 8.2,still no joy.has anybody any suggestion
Actually, you could get by with DNG converter 8.2 or newer. But you will either have to convert your files to DNG or upgrade your Lightroom.

I recently upgraded to LightroomCC and Photoshop CC however now when I go to open my RAW files from lightroom it is automatically saving a PSD copy when the file is opened. I don't want it to do that because I don't need those files - for some of my stuff I just need to open the file, edit, and save a jpg when done. This was not a feature on the older version of Lightroom and I can't find any place to turn this off.
Any help would be much appreciated!

How can I get my Lightroom to open Raw Files ?
Thanks kindly for any replies. You can d/load the free DNG Converter and convert the CR2 files to DNG and they will import to Lr3.6 or you can upgrade at a small cost to the latest Lightroom which will also import the CR2 files.

All of a sudden, I am not able to open my Nikon D80 raw files via Lightroom; when I go to open the file in Photoshop CS3, it only offers me the option to open it as a copy with Lightroom adjustments, not as an original file, and it opens as a psd. Tried adjusting settings in Photoshop as per a Peachtree article but this does not work. The nef and dng files do exist and I can open them as raw via Photoshop, but no longer in Lightroom. Any suggestions?
Thank you Jeff. It seems so obvious once you know the answer.

How to edit raw files in lightroom?
when editing raw files in lightroom the only extra option I seem to get is more control over white balance. Am I missing something? is there a way to open raw files in camera raw (like in photoshop elements) or can the editing options I get for all photos raw(nef) and jpg work better on raw than on jpg? I am a little confused by it...
Lr uses Camera Raw internally for processing raw files.
You create renditions by editing raw images in develop mode until you are satisfied, and then exporting those renditions.
If you mean you want access to proprietary NEF settings placed in the raw image by the camera or Nikon software... this is not possible. You can mimic some of the settings with camera profiles and presets, but Lr (like most software) does not have (complete, unfettered, unencumbered) access to proprietary image details. Adobe uses the public Nikon SDK to get access to the encrypted WB information. -
How to open Raw files from Canon 1100D and 650D in CS5?
I need assistance please. I have a Canon 1100D and 650D. On Photoshop CS5 it does not recognise the 2 Cameras Raw files. What is my course of action. Help will be highly appreciated
evjems, As per the below article, Canon EOS 1100D needs minimum Adobe Camera Raw(ACR) version 6.4 and Canon EOS 650D needs minimum ACR version 7.1
Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras
So, you should be able to open raw files of 1100D, if you upgrade your PS ( Help > Updates), but not of 650D as it needs PS CS6 and above.
Let me know in case you still have any doubts.
Hope that Helps!

How to open RAW files from Canon M series?
Have just bought the new EOS M series and can't open RAW files in Aperture despite it being the latest version. Any ideas?
The list of supported cameras for raw processing is here:
Apple - Aperture - Technical Specifications - RAW Support
I do not yet see your camera on this list. You will have to wait a little bit, until Apple has released the converter. -
Hi All
Trying to open raw files in PS 7.0 can anybody help please?

Thanks for that, what is the other option?
In addition to the proposed software that comes with the camera, you can also try alternate image viewers such as XnView, IrfanView or ACDSee. Some of them support quite a few RAW formats, but usually only with limited adjustment options and output only to JPEG or otehr 8bit formats, but that may be good enough for you.
