How to open with only level-one bookmarks showing

I know how to set my initial view so the Bookmarks pane is open. However, is there a way to set the level of bookmarks that are shown? I have created my PDF by merging a lot of smaller files, many of which were created from MS Word, so there are many levels of bookmarks and it's overwhelming for a user to see all of it when the document first opens.

In Acrobat close the levels of bookmarks and save the document with File > Save As

Two thoughts:
(1) Could you try changing a setting for your Garmin plugin. Here's what I mean:
Open the Add-ons page using either:
* Ctrl+Shift+a
* orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Plugins.
Find your Garmin plugin change "Ask to Activate" to "Always Activate".
Your system information seems to list two different versions of a similarly named plugin. I'm not sure whether that is causing a problem.
(2) Does Garmin's documentation specify any extra steps to set up Firefox, other than installing its add-ons?

Photoshop-When opening image without tab view, image opens with only a portion in view

I having an issue with CC.
When electing in the preferences to not open image in Tabs. The images open with only about 25% of the image area showing. Forcing me to (command) 0 for full to screen preview or (command) +/- to see the image.
I am not talking about seeing the image at 100% resolution just the entire image within the floating window without having to command before view.
Sidenote: Adobe Customer Service is all based in India. I spent 4 hours on the phone only to hear that this is that way photoshop works.
There would be no logical explanation for this. Since the first version of Photoshop this has not been the case.
I think this should be called view porn with wife in the room mode. Other than that I see no point.

You only bought it four months ago, so it's still under warrantly.

I have spent hours on the phone with what I now know is a call center in Texas on this question.
I think Apple could be a little more "hands on" with iBooks Author users, and it should also be pointed out that landscape photos will not display in portrait mode.
In my case, I used gallery widgets to display vertical photos, since they look better in portrait mode.
But instead of simply rotating, the page disappears and a TOC of interactive media appears. The gallery behaves as expected when tapped. This is not what I expected, but since the gallery works, I can live with it.
Right now I have "tickets" telling me to "fix" this "problem or to disable portrait mode.
I don't want to disable portrait mode.
Will Apple accept the books if I tell them this is not an "error?"

Firefox 5.0 only has one bookmarks toolbar. How do I go back to the older version that let me have 2 or 3?

When I downloaded Firefox 5.0, I suddenly had only ONE Bookmarks Toolbar. With the older version, I had 2 and was going to add a 3rd one.
1 - Can I add additional Bookmark Toolbars to 5.0 and if so, how do I do it?
2 - If I can't do it, how do I go BACK to the older version? Thank you.

Why does a my layered Illustrator file open with only one layer, when opened by someone else?

I am using CS6, as is the other user. When they open the file in Illustrator all the artwork is on one layer, even though the original file has numerous layers, and opens with these layers when I open it even now.
I have never come across this problem before in all the years I have used Illustrator and have had no joy when trying to search for this problem.
Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated as it is confusing us!

Thank you so much for your replies.
Since I posted this issue, I was later informed that the other user is infact opening my files with CS5 and so a quick solution to this was saving it down to a previous version! Sorry for the confusion!
This problem then becomes clear that it was a version error, but I have always had an error message come up if I try to open something that was created in a newer verion - is this no longer the case?
I have been assured no pop up messages appear when opening the file which I find odd, and also that this layer compression has only just started happening even though many files have been back and forth previously.
A little mystery! At least for now it is all working ok again

To change the default program that opens files in Windows, press start (or the windows button) then type in "default". Click on Default programs, then "Associate a file type..." Find the file type and click on "Change program..."

How to open with technical flat calibration in 7.0

In earlier versions, Camera Raw gave an option to set "Blacks" = "Brightness" = Contrast" = "0", and set a straight tone curve. With color space set to Adobe RGB, this opens with EXACTLY a calibrated power of 2.2. This gives a very flat looking image with no "S" curve that no one would use for beauty, but when used for SCIENTIFIC applications, I can raise the 16-bit image to the 2.2th power in Photoshop and have EXACTLY a linear correspondence between photon count and pixel count. This lets me add photons, divide images to normalize, make exact pixel by pixel measurements, and a lot of things us scientists like to do unrelated to making pictures beautiful.
Camera Raw 7.0 changed the sliders, and after hours of scientific experimenting I can not find a combination that opens images that are technically exactly flat (gamma 2.2 of course) without deviations to the straight curve.
I do weddings occasionally, science mostly, and Photoshop is my go-to tool for both. Thanks in advance for your help advancing the cause of science.

Noel, of course you are right, I didn't know about that. That explains why, if I adjusted a DNG flat in 6, then opened it in 7, it would come up with the old sliders in place. It opens exactly the same in 7 when I choose 2010, right down to the bit level.
Jeff, I have been learning how to use the DNG Profile Editor you recommended. When I build a profile with a linear tone curve and apply it under 2010, all the sliders are left as default, even the "S" tone curve, EXCEPT "Blacks" needs to be set off the default to "0". When applied under 2012, all the sliders should be set to default EXCEPT Whites to +25 and Blacks to exactly +25. Even then the highlights are a little different, I haven't measured yet to decide if they are more or less accurate.
To others in the scientific community: Even opened linear like this with Adobe RGB (and even extended ProPhoto RGB) there can still be issues with colors going negative, and false colors in highlights as some channels saturate before others. You can use Adobe DNG Converter to do the dematrixing by choosing Custom > Linear(demosaic) and Uncompressed. Then "open as" the resulting file in "Photoshop RAW" mode, also known as "RAW RAW" (not camera raw), and choose the appropiate sizing parameters. With a little trial and error you can get at the raw data right out of the sensors, exactly as it was recorded, except demosaiced. (If you deselect Linear but keep Uncompressed checked in DNG Converter and open as a single channel, you can actually get under the Bayer array.) The problem is you are on your own with the tone curve, and some cameras have really weird piecewise linear protocols that can't be described in a continuous equation. And all metadata is lost in RAW RAW format. It is probably an impossible dream to wish that Camera Raw could give the straight data off the sensor, calibrated only for gamma 2.2 tone curve. Such a mode would have no setting for exposure or color temperature as it would always show the full saturation range for each sensor. Images would look dark and greenish because for a very good reason red and blue sensors are designed to be less sensitive than green.

How to open multiple sessions for one user?

Sorry for the silly question but I couldn't find it googling or searching through this forum, so I started wondering whether it's possible in SQL Developer to open multiple sessions for one user. I'm fairly new to SQL Developer and databases in general.
When I open SQL Developer and connect to a schema, a worksheet opens named MYSCHEMA. If I disconnect then connect, another worksheet opens, named MYSCHEMA~1. I assumed these were different sessions, but if I enter into one worksheet:
select col1 from my_table where row_id = 1
-- shows result is 1
update my_table set col1 = 0 where row_id = 1
select col1 from my_table where row_id = 1
-- shows result is 0and then enter into the second worksheet:
select col1 from my_table where row_id = 1
-- shows result is 0I would have expected the second worksheet to report 1 because the first worksheet did not issue a COMMIT. Thus, I'd guess both worksheets are the same session? Is that right? If so, how do I have two sessions open simultaneously (opened by same user)?

Ctrl-Shift-N doesn't do anything for me. I'm on a mac -- by experimenting it looks like command-N does what you're looking for. This appears to be the same as left-clicking on the "New" icon in the top left corner of SQL Developer, or selecting from the pull-down menu, File > New.
This opens "Create a New" window that appears to be a wizard. What would I select at this point? Options are: Database Connection, Table, View, Package, ...
I don't see an option for "Worksheet".
UPDATE:
OK, I found that if I select "SQL File", a worksheet becomes available. Perhaps this is what you intended. However, when I issue the command
select col1 from my_table where row_id = 1;it still returns 0 instead of 1. Hmm, maybe my initial assumption was wrong -- if this is a second (e.g. different) session, should I expect the changes made in the first session in SQL Developer (the UPDATE command) WITHOUT a commit, to be observed in this second session? I thought that changes made in one session were not viewable in a different session until these changes are committed in the first session? If so, how to show this in SQL Developer? I must be missing something basic here.
Or, is SQL Developer issuing some sort of "auto-commit" without my knowledge?

How to back with more than one external?

I have four internal hard drives with my desktops so naturally my 1tb external HD doesn't have enough space for all the back up. I was wondering how do I add another external HD to the list in Time Machine so that it can back up the remaining stuff. I looked a lot in preferences but could not see a way to do it. I feel like I'm overlooking something...

TM can only have one backup disk. no way around that. you can RAID your externals into a software RAID which means that they will be combined into one volume. but that's a VERY shaky arrangement for external drives sitting in separate enclosures. and it will also mean that you'll have to wipe both externals. you can also get a bigger external drive or get an external RAID enclosure. another option is to use a different backup solution for backing up the extra data that does not fit on the TM drive. there are many other excellent backup programs beside TM. see this link for options

Open with only shows 10 Apps

Dear Community,
the open with menu does not show all apps that are installed on my iPhone4. There seems to be a limitation to 10 apps and I don't find a setting to configure which apps are shown. I'm running iOS5, but there was the same issue with iOS4.
Do you experience the same problem? Is there a solution? Is it a bug or a feature?

Yes, you can only see 10 apps in Open with.... It is not configurable. As the device is working to spec, there's not really a "solution". Sorry.
