This is the problem with extrapolating personal experience to generalized statements about a product that has been sold in the many millions in dozens of countries around the world. I have several family members, many friends and most of my co-workers have been given iPhone 4's and 4s's as their work phone, and not one of those people that I know with iPhone 4/4s phones has ever had a front nor back screen break. the new search interface in firefox 34 and upwards does address exactly this situation and is optimized for that scenario - you type your search term and select the search engine you want to go it to & you're done (if you want do do a search with the default engine just hit enter). in the old interface you needed at least one more click for that action...

I don't really understand processors, but is the 2.0GHz Quad Core i7 really a better processor in terms of performance? If it has 4 cores why not give it greater processing speed like 2.7 or 3.0 GHz?
I am asking because I am thinking about getting the high end Mac Mini, but I see that it's processor runs at 2.0GHz and the others in the line run at 2.5 and 2.7 respectively. Why is this?

I'm really oversimplifying here, but...
Let's just assume that each core runs at full speed all the time, the total performance of that processor would be the sum of the running totals of each core:
Duo Core i7 = 2 (cores) * 2.7 GHZ = 5.4 Ghz total processor power
Quad Core i5 = 4 (cores) * 2.0 GHZ = 8.0 Ghz
Like I said, oversimplified. But, you get the point. Not to mention, most apps still aren't optimized, so at a given time they only use a single core anyway. In this case, it'd be more beneficial to have more cores, since they would (hypothetically) be able to run more simultaneous processes (four vs. two in your case).
I gues the greater question is: what were you planning on using the mini for? Most CPUs go underutilized anyway, so you may be better off getting a 2.0, and maxing out your RAM and maybe adding a SSD. Those upgrades (the SSD especially) will result in a very noticeable increase in performance.

this is an assignment for a web design class i am currently taking. the teacher provided this code for us:

i substituted the name of my animated gif for "mighty" and i also substituted the name of my button for "blue_btn", however when i test it, the button does not do anything.
i think it could be due to the fact that the code says function BlueplayMovie in the beginning, and then again at the end. I don't know what that is, or what it means. i probably have to change that to something,
does anyone have any ideas as to what i could do??

Animated gif files play on their own, you do not command them to play. Look up the gotoAndPlay() function in the help documentation and maybe that will give you some idea of what you need to do around the code provided to have it make sense for the assignment. For someone to give you the answer here is pretty much along the lines of cheating on your assignment.

How to only edit one state when creating an animated .gif?

I created my first anaimated .gif image the other day. Now when I try to create a new one everytime I duplicate state and try to edit just the duplicated state all states are updated. I only click on one state then as soon as I do something it updates all of them! How do I turn this off? It's driving me nuts I've been messing with it for over 2 hours! Ahhh.... thanks!

what's your Fireworks version? You should be able to edit and modify any state in an animated gif without all the States to modify.
Now all depends on what you have in your States. For example, if you have symbol 1 in State 1, you duplicate your State and get symbol 1 in State 2. When you modify symbol 1 all the symbols 1 will be modified at the same time.

There are ringtone websites out there where someone might have already created such a ringtone. You can often download them for free. If you have a smartphone, you can also make the ringtone yourself.

I have bought quite a lot of music on iTunes, both on the computer, and on the iPhone 4. Now, I have gotten a new PC, and music is lost. Why not make it, so that you can always re-download music? ******* stupid, this other way.....

Seeing that this has become quite a problem, I need to tell you all about this crap.
I have been forced to buy a new PC, due to the old one breaking down. (Finally, had it for 8 years...)
Now, while I have taken a backup of the iTunes Library, including music, apps, movies etc. And put in the new iTunes folder on the NEW PC, somehow, quite a lot of the music, previousley downloaded from iTunes, have gone missing. It was still on my iPhone, but when I plugged it in to synchronize, they got "kicked out" - and are now no-where to be found. I am quite frankly HIGHLY unsatisfied with this issue, and want to know, if there is a way to redownload my music, without involving iTunes Store Support into it. Mostly, because I think they are quite nice people, but with very limited options when it comes to helping each individual in a way, satisfying enough. I have had previous encounters with them, turning out quite... harsh.
Let me know what you think, and if I should write a formal complaint to iTunes Store.

TS1389 Why not make apple-id available in the iTunes app list view ?

Can't apple add the apple-id field to the list view for apps ? This would really help in case different ID's are used to install apps. I know the ID can be seen with the Get-Info option, but doing that for 200+ apps to find one that won't sync is a pain !!

That is a good question. It is not possible with the current iTunes, but you could suggest it to Apple at the iTunes Feedback page.
When you submit, set "Feedback type" to "Enahncement Request," and explain what you would like to see. I think it may be relevant to all content types, not just apps.

Why not make the Detail Navigation column in SDN website?

I wonder the SDN Team can make the Detail Navigation column like in the portal, which can be adjusting size and minimize. As I always have to hold my mouse to move the page to the right when reading Weblog and Post Thread.

I am pretty angered. I purchased my 16 GB iPod in May 2013 under the assumption that it was the newest iPod model, only to find out now that it isn't. I was okay with that, until I learned I did not have Siri, and now, with it being that I cannot download the iOS 7.

All the iOS devices compatible (iPhone 4 and later, iPad 2 and later, and 5G iPod touch) with iOS 7 have at least 512 MB of memory. The 4G iPod only has 256 MB

I have looked into the publish setting for gif but no option there, or in the background colour setting in the main design window has any Alpha or Transparency setting.

Thought that issue went away. The only workaround I found was exporting a PNG sequence with transparency, importing it all back into a better animated GIF exporter like Fireworks as an image sequence and exporting it from there again. It will give you the best quality, control over the timeline, looping and various per-frame AGIF functionality.
But yes, it's a multi-step headache.

This might be stretching the argument, but...
In many cases, the answer 'original poster' wrote is not that original - it may be a code copy from his system which is his employer's IP (again weblogs containing slidesets used at customer site and then used in the blog on SDN comes to mind), a copy from SAP's documentation, a copy from OSS note and so on.
If I really tell anyone "RSXXXX will get you the change log table name" as an answer, it might be a copy from another post, but really, do you think it was such an 'original' answer drafted by the original poster that an acknowledgement is necessary?
An acknowledgement, where due, should be given I agree. But, many a times a URL opening something in another window (or same) for a two line answer is mere inconvenience for the questioner, compared to a cut-paste in the same thread. At least this is what is the decider for me. (If it is a small generic answer, just do a cut-paste, if it is a post where original thread needs to be acknowledged, mention the URL). In the end, your priority is to answer to help the questioner, why not make it easy by pasting it there in that thread? In the end, I would still think leaving it in poster's good-faith decision is the most practical option.
In general, people gaming for points are not that successful (you and me have discussed at least one such poster on this board), and others on the board do figure out what they are up to. I know it stretches the moderator's work but this is the price SDN has to pay for success.
As an example, if I ever quote Pizzaman's answer, I will mention the URL since he typically writes a well-formed descriptive answer and that effort needs to be appreciated, however if it is a two line code, I may paste it without bothering about mentioning the link.
In the end, one needs to be somewhat detached with the points one gets, or not. We all evolve (initially the craving for points is more, and it subsides to a level later). At any point in time different SDNers are at different points on that evolution curve, thus causing such friction/debates.
I take it philosophically, I know as a moderator you may not have that choice
