How to organize 100+ sample applications in FB

I am building up a library of simple (about 50-100 lines
each) sample mxml applications.
Currently I have about 50 in one project and this causes the
"building workspace" process to be very slow, and often crashes FB
with memory errors.
How would you organize this under FB? I may have hundreds
some day.
Are there any FB settings that would help?

I just tried to suggest that there is much, much, much more to organize than just doing 'folders'.
A year of my soccer recordings is about ~2TB either (but in diff. Events, I have to confess), no prob for FCPX - and for my no-budget hardware!
.... I got 'sensitized' when PC-friends proudly showed me there music-Libraries .... all handcrafted, matryoshka-esk folders-in-folders-in ... demoing how simple iTunes creates specific playlists by using tags&keywords made them speechless ..
smart tagging alllows to find a specific sentence, a specific 'face', a specific stunt with a single click. And you're not limited in FCPX by a few tech. data (timestamp for example), but it starts with simple 'favorite-ising' and 'find people' (which, partly, works incredible precise!), and ends with your dozen, very own criteria, you can combine and mix as you like. And need.-
... and due to its data-base character of FCPX, size of media shouldn't matter ... imho.

How to get back sample application after deletion

Hi All,
I have deleted Sample Application provided in HTMLDB 1.6 by default.So how can i get back those application.I have neither exported the application before.So is there any way to recover that?

The way u r directing me is quite ambigous........I have neither getting any options of Demostration nor the sample application...Can u be plz little more clear.
I have register my name in the HTMLDB workspace & after exporting the application from there when i trying to import it in my application it gives version mismatch error.I m using 1.5 wheras the exported application user 1.6.Any way to avoid this problem?Otherwise i have to reinstall HTMLDB.

How to organize the sample color grid in the Color box?

Do you have any tips/tricks to keep the small squares of color in the Color menu organized? These are the color samples that you pull from the color bar at the top of the box and that you drag onto the grid for future reference. I have been willy nilly dragging squares of color onto that grid and it works fine for short term work but I cannot remember what square was for what if I have left that page and need to return to fix or change something. The only thing I can think of is to make a paper graph and notate on that hardcopy.
One thing that I have been doing is, for colors that are hard to distinguish, I load the tiny squares onto FOUR grid squares to make one bigger square of the sample color.
But..... does anyone have another way?

How to install the Sample Apps in Hyperion Financial Management 11.1.2.2?

Could please anybody tell me how to install the Sample Applications in Hyperion Financial Management 11.1.2.2?
The following is written in the Administration guide:
If you did not install the sample files, you can obtain them by reinstalling Financial Management
and selecting the Sample Applications component.
I cannot find the “Sample Applications component” among components during installation process.
There are only “Financial Management ADM driver”, “Financial Management Web Application” and “Financial Management: services”.

After you install the sample application, all of the application extracts can be found under the below location.

Do you know where can i can the instructions on how to load the sample applications?
Because it says on the hfm_admin pdf that:
Instructions for loading the sample files are
included in the Documentation folder of each application.
does anyone know where can i find the instructions?

The instructions will be in your HYPERIONHOME\APP\Sample Apps\ directory.
Go to your Financial Management server change into that directory and there will be a .doc file in a Documentation directory.
For instance: D:\Hyperion\FinancialManagement\Sample Apps\Comma\Documentation

How to activate Events Calendar Sample Application's Weekly and Daily View?

Does anyone know how to activate the Weekly and Daily View for the sample calendar application called "Events?" I am trying to generate, or incorporate, a calendar application based upon the sample application provided by Oracle. I have installed the sample application but I am unable to view the calendar in daily or weekly formats. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks in-advance.

Hi,
If the calendar was set up to only use the Monthly view, then you will be missing a number of items on your page.
The simplest thing to do would be to create a new calendar page in your copy of your sample app and then identify those items that are missing from your original page. These should be Monthly/Weekly/Daily buttons, Adjust Calendar Date - Monthly/Weekly/Daily processes and a hidden Pnn_CALENDAR_TYPE page item that holds the currently displayed type.

1.how to fulfill large scale application and must to share some common view object and entity object in all application, May we to break the application down into multiple BC4J packae in same project or separate each subsystem in each project folder?

You can definitely organize your applications into as many packages as makes sense for your overall design.
You can create and deploye packages of BC4J components in simple *.jar archives and then uses features of JDeveloper to import those shared packaged of components in a read-only mode in projects that need to make use of them.

I'm trying to explore HFM 9.3.1 by loading the sample apps. I've seen the instructions docs resides in simple demo apps, but somehow I could not follow the steps. I can not find the menu that described in the documentation instructions for example:
"b.     Navigate to Dimension Library
c.     Select File-Import-Create Profile
i.     Give Profile Name (Simple)
ii.     Select type of Flat File
iii.     Select Upload and Browse to find the file sampleapps/Simple/metadata/SimpleApp.ads
iv.     Select the file and select Upload
v.     Select the Ok button
vi.     Select Next at the File Properties screen (accept all defaults)
vii.     Select the “Create dimensions for the non-mapped dimensions with the source dimension name” check box and hit Next
1.     This will load the files into the Master View
viii.     Accept all defaults at the Map Properties page and select Finish
ix.     Select Yes to the popup asking “Do you want to execute the profile now”
etc.."
Where can I find the Dimension Library? I can not find the File - Import - Create Profile also.
Please help.

Please anyone can tell me how I can view the sample applications after starting server.

And in which directory the sample applications are installed.
I have only one instance of the server that is "server1" on port 80. Please give me the complete URL

The sample apps are available in <install directory> /appserv/samples directory or <install directory>/samples directory (depending on which build you are using). You can deploy any of the application and test it. You can run it by http://<machine name> :<port number>/<context root>

How to organize the intrument library?

Hi,
I moved all my JamPacks to an external HD, and everything works well, but do I manage instruments libraries?
There are lots of similar folders for each jampack, do I have to manually organize all the files and create just one Instrument Library folder?

This question was posted a few months ago. I found it yesterday as I was looking for the same info. But after a talk with an Apple support person, and some experimentation, I figured some things out.
My instrument folder was all in one place, but perhaps Chester's installer put some things in various places. Still, I think the following info may be useful.
But before I start, I should mention that none of the following procedures are officially supported by Apple. So it's probably a good idea to make a back-up image of your drive(s) before you start doing this. That way if something gets messed up, you can restore it. Also, make sure GarageBand is NOT running while you do any of the re-arranging.
As you may know, Apple's instruments are located here:
SystemDrive/Library/Application Support/GarageBand/Instrument Library
This entire folder can be moved, but the next time you launch GarageBand it will ask you to locate this folder.
There are three folders inside that folder: Plug-in Settings, Sampler, and Track Settings. Inside the Sampler folder are two folders: Sampler Files, and Sampler Instruments. Sampler Files has folders each containing the actual samples (audio files) that are played by the instrument. The Sampler Instruments folder has the .exs files that contain the key-maps, settings, etc. that tell the sound generator how to play the samples. Meanwhile, back in the Track Settings folder is another folder called "Software" which has all of the category folders which contain the instruments (.cst files) that are listed in the GarageBand software track info list.
If you want to delete Apple instruments, you can look at the folders inside the Sampler Files folder. Take for example the folder called: 12-string Acoustic Chords. You would then go to the Sampler Instruments folder and look for the .exs file that goes with it (in this case it is called "12-string Acoustic Chords.exs"), then look in the Track Settings/Software/CategoryFolder to find the "12-string Acoustic Chords.cst" file. You can then delete all three.
IMPORTANT NOTE: These software instruments are used by some of the AppleLoops (the MIDI type). I haven't found out what happens when one of these loops can't find the instrument it needs to play it's loop. I believe it is the dependance between loops and software instruments that is why Apple does not support "managing" instruments-- even though the library can get quite large!
Incidently, I have never found out where the MIDI type of Apple Loops are stored.
Also, instruments that have been added by the user can just be deleted from within GB using the "Delete Instrument" button near the bottom of the info pane.
To move instruments into different categories, just move the .cst files in the Track Settings/Category Folders from one category folder to another.
Oh. Of course, make sure that GB is not running when you do your file moving/deleting, etc.
It was helpful at one point to delete the GB preferences to reset some main library category things. But you may not need to do that.

Create organizational charts using application express

I would like to create organizational charts using the application express(HTMLDB). How do I go about it?
I also tried the Aria sample application for HTMLDB 2.0, but when I try to run the scripts it asks for some bind variable parameters ' :NEW ' and ' :OLD ' which I could not identify. Can anybody help with understanding the standard inputs to this?
