How to organize "Bookmarks" in safari

Tap the bookmarks icon. Tap the edit button. Tap and hold down on the 3 horizontal lines on the right side of the bookmarks in order to reorder them. Tap Done when you are finished.
If you want to add a folder, tap New Folder in the upper left section of the bookmarks window after tapping the Edit button.

  • Windows 7, Safari 5.1.7, How to Organize Bookmarks?

I've looked at the Organizing Safari Bookmarks questions in the Community, but it appears all the answers are dealing with a Mac operating system.  The 3 dots at the bottom of the Safari bookmarks screen are not there for me.
There is a '+' to the left side, and another '+'  just to the left of center.  But they are not helping.  No 3 dots or bars or whatever is down there.
    What to do?
    Thanks,
    Stephen.

The closest you can come to a side Bookmark list is via SafariStand.
Have you tried using the Spotlight panel in Safari's Bookmark Manager to access web sites? First, select the Bookmark Collection you wish to access on the left side of the Manager. Then, just start typing the name of the site you wish to visit in the panel and the automatic sorting quickly begins. From there you can double click the web site to open it. The spotlight panel in Safari 3 Beta is an improved version, as Apple Key + F automatically places the cursor in the Spotlight panel when the Manager is opened.
Also, rather than clicking on the Book Icon, you can press the Apple/Option/B keys at the same time to open/close the Bookmarks Manager. It soon gets to be an easy way to access the Manager.
Lastly, a good way to familiarize yourself with OS X's short-cuts etc. is to pick up a copy of Scott Kelby's book OS X Tiger: Killer Tips.

  • After upgrading to Firefox 4 in my Windows XP desktop, how do I restore to Organize Bookmarks... selection, which is no longer visible in the Bookmarks menu or in any other menu?

Typo; should be "how do I restore the Organize Bookmarks... selection". This selection also does not exist when I manually change Firefox to show the new "Firefox" orange menu tab at the upper left corner of the Firefox window.

OK, that works. In addition, just before receiving your response, I discovered that History --> Show All History brings up the identical "Show All Bookmarks" Library popup that includes the export and import Bookmark options (which is what I was looking for all along).
If anyone from the Mozilla-Firefox organization reads this, please update Firefox Help concerning the Bookmark maintenance functions. Help still refers only to pre-Firefox 4 versions, and is no help here with respect to Firefox 4 (which is why I had to post my initial query).

"Organize Bookmarks" has been renamed to "Show All Bookmarks" in the bookmarks menu.

  • There is no "Organize Bookmarks" on my Bookmark tab and I don't know how to import html bookmarks from old computer, which is now dead, per the instructions.

I saved my old bookmarks as part of my regular backup from my old computer. It died this week and I just bought a new computer. The instructions for importing an html file with bookmarks says to open the Organized Bookmarks tab under Bookmarks. My computer does not have this bookmark and I can't find anywhere else how to import the html file with my old bookmarks. The old computer used Windows XP and this one has Windows 7.

"Organize Bookmarks" has been renamed to "Show All Bookmarks" in the bookmarks menu. The rest of the instructions will be the same.

  • How can I sort the bookmarks menu? Sorting only works in "organize bookmarks", doesn't apply to the menu.

I want my bookmarks to be listed alphabetically. I can select "sort by name" or "sort A-Z" under the Organize Bookmarks tab, but my choice applies to the Organize Bookmarks list only; when I open my Bookmarks menu, it remains unsorted. How can I apply my sorting preference to the actual Bookmarks list?

The Views menu in the Bookmarks Manager (Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks) is for displaying the bookmarks in different sorting orders (hence the name Views) and doesn't sort bookmarks permanently.
Right-click a folder to open the context menu and choose "Sort By Name" in the left pane of the Bookmarks Manager or in the side bar to sort the bookmarks alphabetically or drag bookmarks to the wanted position. If dragging doesn't work then use Cut and Paste instead.
You may have to close (Firefox> Quit) and restart Firefox to make changes appear in the Bookmarks menu because on Mac that menu is maintained by the OS and not by Firefox.

  • I just upgraded from Tiger to Leopard and had to download Firefox 9.0.1 again. There's no way to organize bookmarks like there was before. How do I delete a bookmark or change a bookmark's position in the queue?

"Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks" has been renamed to "Show All Bookmarks" in Firefox 4 and later.

  • Organize Bookmarks is gone from my Bookmarks section on toolbar. How do I get it back?

I had to reload my Mac operating system recently. After that I downloaded Firefox 4.0. It doesn't have under the Bookmarks section "Organize Bookmarks" any more in the drop down. How do I get it back?

It just changed the menu names, I do not use a Mac but on my PC it has become ''show all bookmarks'' that still opens the bookmarks library manager.

  • I recently installed Firefox 4.0 and it does not have the Organize Bookmarks option in the Bookmarks tab. How can I export my bookmarks to an html file?

The Organize Bookmarks option has disappeared in Firefox 4.0. How do I organize, import and export bookmarks?

    '''Show All Bookmarks'''

  • Under the bookmarks tab, I do not have a tab for Organize Bookmarks. My prior version of Firefox had that, but it does not show up in version 4. How do I get that tab back?

I am trying to get to the Organize Bookmarks tab and can not find it since I upgraded to Firefox version 4. It used to be under the bookmarks tab, but does not show now. How do I get it back?

If this works, I will be grateful. When I downloaded firefox 4 all my book marks and their structure (folders subfolders sub-subfolders) as well.
    Tags might be better, huh?

For what it's worth, here's the bug on this: https://github.com/adobe/brackets/issues/1577.  It will be fixed later when we move the Getting Started files out of the install folder.

  • Firefox 4 has no "Organize Bookmarks" option to import Chrome html bookmarks. How?

Can't import Chrome html bookmarks because the
"bookmark menu at the top" has no "Organize Bookmarks"
option. How can I import the Chrome bookmarks?

the-edmeister: How on earth can "Organize Bookmarks" be misleading! When that is the main reason any one clicked on that button? If I wanted to "organize" my bookmarks, I chose "Organize Bookmarks" went in there and organized them and then closed the window. How can "Show All Bookmarks be more correct?
If you think "Show all Bookmarks" is more correct, then what is the purpose of showing all the bookmarks, what do you do once you can see them? Scroll through and check out what bookmarks you have? The main reason to go in there is to organize your bookmarks! That's why once you are in there you have the menu buttons like "organize", "Import and Export" "sort" etc.
"Show All Bookmarks" is just simply dumb. Why don't they change "Options" to "Show lots of stuff", that would be just as meaningless and unhelpful.

  • I need to export my bookmarks but the "Organize bookmarks" is not available in the menu anymore. How can I proceed?

I have FireFox 7.0.1 (italian), I need to save my bookmarks not to have to retype them while migrating to the new OS. In yor help pages it is stated that I can save bookmarks going under BookMarks menu, selecting Organiza bookmarks… and saving them as HTML.
The prblem is: there is no such a menu voice, so I cannot save my bookmarks (or I do not know how to do it).

"Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks" has been renamed to "Show All Bookmarks" in Firefox 4 and later.
