How to 'organize' compilation music CDs in iTunes?

I'm still using iTunes 10.7 as the reviews / issues with version 11 do not seem very flattering!
When I import a multi-artist compilation CD into iTunes, it 'splits' the album into individual artists and songs categories in the iTunes window, and subsequently into the iPod when transferred there.
Is there a workaround / solution for this? I would prefer to have compilations as single album collections of songs, just like the original CD.

Its great that you know how to access file attributes section on both PC and Mac. Without your clarification people would have been baffled.
Actually, they wouldn’t be baffled at all.
Since this is the iTunes for Mac forum, PC users generally won’t look here. and Mac users generally don’t care about Windows Properties...
Regardless of whether or not Paresh Devani solved this 2 years ago ( not sure how you know this anyway),
I actually read the posts in threads, rather than blindly posting.
I know it was solved 2 years ago because Paresh Devani selected the answer that fixed his issue 2 years ago & it was quoted in his original post… "This solved my question by Granavel on Feb 9, 2013 7:18 AM"
the solution is not on here and could be useful to others. People still have this problem today.
The solution is on here.
However, had you bothered to read the original post, you would see that the solution you posted is irrelevant.
Your solution will fix an issue, one that is completely unrelated to this thread...
No response is necessary.

If you are using iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.
For all other non purchased music (your own CDs etc) try this method which works on some Windows PCs.
Enable your iPod for disk use.
    See: iPod Disk Use.
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
If this doesn't work (and it may not because officially it's not supposed to), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it can be messy.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music and playlists etc from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Another free program is Pod Player.
There is also CopyPod. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer.

  • Ripping Music CDs into iTunes

When ripping music CDs into iTunes, the tracks are occasionally saved into separate albums.… how do I avoid this? I want them in one album as they were on the CD so that I can play the music by clicking only one album.

The Gracenote database sometimes has entries that list a track via a different artist, usually when there's a guest artist on the track and so whoever uploaded the track data listed the artist as something like "Joe Smith featuring Fred Mertz". For instructions on correcting this, see:

This forum is for questions from those managing sites on iTunes U, Apple's service for colleges and universities to post educational material in the iTunes Store. You'll be most likely to get help with this issue if you ask in the general iTunes forums.
Answering quickly, though, iTunes does not support any phones or players other than Apple's own. You'll need to use the software, if any, or procedure provided by LG for loading music onto your new phone. The track files can be found in the iTunes folder in your Mac user's Home folder.
    Regards.

    Hello tadjellis,
It sounds like you have purchases in your iTunes library you no longer want or want to see. You can hide the purchases with your iTunes account settings, and this article will help you:
iTunes Store: Hiding and unhiding purchases
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4919
Use iTunes on a Mac or PC to hide or unhide your purchases.
    To hide your purchases
Open iTunes on your Mac or PC.
From the Store menu, choose Store > Sign In, and then enter your Apple ID and password.
    Go to the iTunes Store.
Click Purchased from the Quick Links section on the right side of the iTunes Store.
Choose a content type by clicking on Music, TV Shows, Apps, or Books from top.
Hover your cursor over the item you want to hide.
You will see an "X" either to the right or left top corner of the item.
Click the "X" to hide that item. A confirmation dialog will appear once you click the "X."
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the very best,

How do I transfer music from my itunes playlist to my iphone?

Maddening!!!!! What used to work now doesn't!
Where did simple drag and drop go? Apple invented it!
I have an iPhone 5s and want to transfer Playlists from my desktop iMac to the iPhone. I have had these products since their first releases years ago. I am a computer power user. What used to be a simpe "drag and drop" of your Playlist (yes, in Column View which I have turned on now) to your iPhone was easy and you were set. It is now impossible to do. Or easily!
There are been other posts on this. I have tried them all. None work or the explanations are not adequate.
WHY IS THIS SAME **** HARD WHEN IT USED TO BE DRAG AND DROP?
PS: Fire the iTune Product Manager who did this version..get Jony Ive on the case to fix the User Interface Design ASAP!

How do I transfer music from my itunes library to my wife's on the same computer? I am trying to put the music that is on my phone on her phone.

Has she transferred iTunes content to her iPhone from an iTunes library on another computer or from a different iTunes library on the same computer?
If not, you transfer music to her iPhone from your iTunes library in the same way the music was transferred to your iPhone. If she has any iTunes content on her iPhone that was transferred from a different iTunes library, all iTunes content on her iPhone will be erased first.

    Hello Achates:
I did not read the rather long post. If you wish to reinstall OS X 10.4, use your software install DVD. Backup is essential. To minimize your risk, I would use an archive and install:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107120
In that way, you will have a fresh copy of OS X and your current settings will be preserved.
Incidentally, I do not agree that the printer problem is best solved by reinstalling OS X. I have had HP printers for sometime and, on one occasion, had difficulty after an upgrade. HP technical support walked me through uninstalling all traces of the HP driver and then reinstalling.

how do i upload music from my itunes account to my iphone ?

    Hi viper1997,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
There are two ways to get music onto your iPhone.  If you have the latest version of iTunes installed on your computer, you can setup manual syncing so that you transfer the playlists, artists or albums that you want on your iPhone.
You can also download music you've already purchased from the iTunes store to your iPhone at any time.
The following links will provide additional information to get you started.   You don't mention what computer you are using, so I'll assume a Mac for now, as the basics are the same.
The iPhone User Guide is a good place to start:
