How to organize my photos in albuns and sub-albuns?

Hi,
I have Windows PC and wanted to know how to organize my photos in folders and sub-folders inside the Ipod.
By sincronizing Ipod with a specific folder of your hard disk, all images are updated, but sub-folders are ignored. For instance, if you sinc the My Photos folder:
c:\My Photos\2004\Family
c:\My Photos\2004\Friends
The Family and Friends photos will be cast together, because Ipod only sees one sub-level (the 2004 folder). Can anyone help with this? I tried the Photoshop Album, but I didn't manage to understand this program!
Thanks!
Carletti

As far as I know your only option is either Adobe Album or Photoshop Elements. (Not Album SE or a trial version)
Once you've got your photo's imported, there are two tabs on the righthandside, tags and collections (? - I have a non-english version). Create a new collection and drag photo's on it or rightclick on a photo and select "Add to collection..."
Now when you use iTunes to sync photo's from Adobe it will show the collections you've made and each collection you synchronise will show up with a separate name on your ipod.

I have now downloaded all the pictures in my camera directly into PSE Organiser. The pictures are all in folders listed by date the pictures were taken. Are they now safely housed in the PSE program?
PSE does not contain your photos. The photos are on your hard disk(s) somewhere, wherever they were put when they were moved from the camera to the hard disk (might be the default location chosen by PSE).
Can I delete the old Canon programs, which are still sitting on my Mac?
    Yes
And if I want to back up on an external hard-drive, how do I do that? Just drag the whole lot across?
Your interest in making backups is to be commended.
There are many ways to make backups, including the way you just suggested. You can also create a backup using PSE (which I recommend) since it includes the photos and the very important catalog file. In PSE, File->Backup Catalog, and set the destination of the backup to your external HD. Remember to do this regularly.
Sometimes when I've used 'Smart Fix" or other tools in the Photo Fix toolbox, I'm not happy with the result. But how can I 'undo' a fix and revert to how it was before?
PSE should create a version set when you do any editing, including the Smart Fix. Thus, you just need to expand the version set (right-click on the photo) to see both the original and the Smart Fix. Then you can delete the Smart Fix version.
-- I want to create an album "Europe 2012", and within it categories for UK, France, Italy etc. But although I hit 'create album category' when Europe 2012 is highlighted, the category just attaches to the last listed album - something completely unrelated. How do I ensure categories are within the correct albums?
I'm going to strongly recommend you don't do this via albums (unless your intent is to share the contents of the albums online somehow, in which case use Albums). I recommend you use tags instead of albums for this purpose. You can create a tag called Europe under Places, and another tag under Europe called France. I would also recommend you not bother including year or other calendar information in the tag (or album) names. You want "Europe" as your tag, not "Europe 2012". Why? Because you can always segregate by year (or other calendar time period) using the PSE Timeline; there's no need to do extra work to segregate the tags by year (or other calendar time period).

  • How do I transfer photos from aperture and iPhoto to bridge?

How do I transfer photos from Aperture and iPhoto to Adobe Bridge.  I am using Photoshop CS6.  Many of my original photos were stored as raw files.

Here's how to access Mac iPhoto images for use in Photoshop
and so that they may be viewed by choosing that folder in Bridge..
    1. In the Finder, navigate to Users > [user name} > Pictures > iPhoto Library.
    2. Control-click (Right-click) the iPhoto Library file and choose Show Package Contents.
    3. A Finder window opens that shows the contents. The Masters folder (or called Originals folder) contains all of the photographs that are in iPhoto.
Photoshop cannot access this folder, but if you make a duplicate of the folder, the dupe will be accessible -- so:
    4. Control-click (Right-click) the folder named Masters (or Originals) and choose Duplicate.
5, Drag the duplicate folder which is named "Masters copy" or “Originals copy” from the iPhoto Library Finder window to the Desktop.
    6. Open images in Photoshop from file on desktop or view them in Bridge.
7  Rename the folder and move it elsewhere (probably to the Pictures folder), if desired.

  • How to sync iPhone photos with iPad and Mac without duplicates and deleted photos?

I have a MacBook Pro (OS X 10.8.5, iPhoto 9.4.3), an iPad2 (ios 6.1.3) and iPhone (ios 7.0.4).  I take my pictures on the iPhone and use the iPad for viewing.  I use the MBP for storage and backup.  ios 7 seems to organize the photos nicely, so I no longer need iPhoto for organizing.
What is the best, easiest and most efficient way to share, save and backup photos (iCloud prefered versus plugging devices into the MBP) between the 3 devices without duplicates and deleted photos?  With Photo Streaming turned on, I get duplicates and it retains photos that I have deleted.
On all three devices, I turned on Photos & Camera > My Photo Stream and Shared Photo Streams and iCloud > Photo Stream.
On the MBP, I have everything under Photo Stream EXCEPT Automatic Import (I took off recently hoping to eliminate duplicates).
If someone else already asked this question, I apologize.  This is very confusing.

While waiting for a reply, you can read the documentation that was in the box your iPad came in.  It's a book about a Spanish guy called Manual.
The answer is iTunes.  Download it.  Install it.  Read the instructions.  Use it.

  • How to make a photo half black and white with select colours

    Hey,
Can anyone give me step by step instructions on how to make a photo black and white with abit of colour like the one attached... on CS4?
    Cheers

Haven't seen you attached file as it takes a long time for attachments to load on this forum.  Try little camera icon instead.
EASIEST way to have B&W in areas is to add Hue and Saturation adjustment layer.  Use sliders to make B&W.  Next paint on layer MASK, with black, to restore color in areas you want to show color.

How do you select photos from your iPhoto and create a jpeg to post on a photography site that requires jpeg format?

Photos in iPhoto are already in JPEG format.
Just as an FYI: iPhoto supports a range of Camera Raw formats, Jpeg, Png, Tiff and  a few other formats as well.

  • I-Pad. How to organize my photo's

I want to load pictures from my camera to my I-Pad.  Then move the pictures to other locations such as Facebook, Instagram, Flickr,LinkedIn,or individual folders.
I bought an Apple adapter to load my pictures . I think the pictures go directly into the camera roll ?.  Then I would like to choose pictures to be sent to the different
folders.     The question is how to accomplish this.. Confused. need simple step's to follow.   I tried Apple 123. with no success.
Need help..  I would appreciate help with these question's    Photography. is what will give me the most pleasure with this I-Pad . A great hobby to follow.

Frankly I have no idea what you are doing or what is going on
    A couple of notes
    1. It is strongly NOT recommended to uncheck the preference to copy photos to the iPhoto library. It does not save space at all and has no advantages and many, many disadvantages
    2.  It is not clear what you are doing but remember that you only organize using iPhoto. You never make changes using the finder
    3. Folders in iPhoto do not hold photos. They only hold other folders or albums.
    4. For duplicates duplicate annilhator is a good solution. But again this is all done in iPhoto. Nothing is done in the finder

  • PSE 8 organizer has photo with lock and message editor is busy

I want to edit a picture from my gallery.  I click on fix and try to open full edit and I get message that the editor is busy.   There is one picture in my gallery that has a lock across it and states edit in progress.  I have exited and restarted PSE8 several times.  This message has been here for a whole day already.   How do I get to edit my photos again?

Are you sure the editor isn't still running? The band with the lock means that you left a photo open in the editor when you switched back to the organizer, and the solution is usually just to close the photo in the editor. Try restarting your computer.
The editor and the organizer are separate programs.

  • How to get ALL photos off iPhone and into iMac?

I hope I can describe this clearly.
I have close to 1000 photos on my iPhone 5s, all in different albums.  I want to get ALL of them off the iPhone and backed up into my iMac so I don't lose them when I upgrade (which has happened before.) The albums I seem to have the biggest problem with are the ones that came over when I went from a PC to a Mac about 2 years ago and were in albums in my Kodak Easy Share.  I can't get iPhoto to recognize these photos/albums so I can move them from the iPhone. Honestly, I'm not even sure how I got them from where they originated into my iPhone. I'd thought I'd lost them so when they popped up on my iPhone I refused to even update my phone for a while, I was so afraid to lose them.
I tried using Image Capture and it only recognized 176 photos on the iPhone.
I went into settings on my iPhone, into camera and photos, and saw that iCloud Photo Library (Beta) was "OFF." I clicked "ON" and got the message "Photos synced from iTunes will be removed. Syncing photos via iTunes is not supported when include Photo Library is turned on.  833 photos will be removed."
    I hit cancel.
If I connect my iPhone to my Mac, and check off "Sync Photos" it appears that it's going to put photo's in iPhoto on my computer on my phone, so that isn't what I want either.  I've tried Googling this, and searching on the Apple site and I can't find anything like this. Similar but not quite the same.
I also read (I think) that the iCloud would delete my photos in 30 days so I'm not sure what the value of backing them up to the iCloud is.
I've used Finder to search Kodak, Easy Share, Kodak Easy Share, in case these photos are somewhere else on the iMac that I'm not aware of, most likely due to user ignorance.
My screen is cracked, I'm going to need to upgrade soon, and I don't want to lose valuable photos again.
    Thank you!

Thank you to all for this info. Discouraging, but finally I can stop banging my head on the desk trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong.
I do believe that when I synced my iPhone at some point in the last 2 years, I pulled all the photos OUT of iPhoto and then it deleted them.  Which is most likely why the older Kodak photos that I am almost 100% certain were in iPhoto are now gone. How/when they ended up on my iPhone I don't know because I swear they suddenly appeared there a few weeks ago.
Since the old PC is gone (accessible but wiped clean & restored to original factory settings) and Easy Share is no more, I will have to explore outside options to get those photos off the iPhone somewhere.  Online photo storage sites have been suggested.  Archaic as it is, I wish I'd just put them all on cd's.
Using the info provided, I did SUCCESSFULLY get all 237 photos off of my iPhone 3.  (yes, I still have it.)  Now I know better and will never ever sync my photo's in iTunes again.
    Thank you all again!!
***Addendum: ALL answers helped, but apparently I can't indicate that.

  • How to consolidate, iPhoto photos IN library and photos outside of library but visible in iPhoto

    Hi guys,
What follow below is the whole explanation of how I got into the mess I am in. but what I want to know is:
How can I 'fully' import Photos , that I have previously imported to iPhoto using the "import: copy items to the iphoto library" unticked.
It not really feasable to locate all the individual events that are imported as a link , deleted them , and re-import the originals because there are hundreds and they are not ordered.
I need a way of doing this on mass, without creating hundreds of duplicates.
I need some sort of a function that says, if not in the library, the find the original and import it.
once that has been done, iPhoto library consolidated and tydied up, I will then be confident about backing it all up , either remotely or on a second hard drive.
    The Story :
    I have a mac book air 2008 , and I am using iPhoto 09, (vs 8.1.2)
I started an iphoto library on the internal hard drive. this was going fine , until I conviced the wife to upload all of her old picture from the PC into the iphoto library also.
All of a sudden the library was pushing 15GB and on my little 60 GB HD this was starting to eat up all the space on the hard drive.
So , I add an External hardrive to act as over flow, but, ideally I didn't want to move the iphoto library onto the external harddrive. my thinking was that if the library file remains on the Internal HD , I will be able to  organise the pics and at least view thumb nails without connecting the hard drive.
So , any new additional photos have now been placed on the external hard drive , but only imported to iPhoto using the "import: copy items to the iphoto library" unticked, so that the thumbnails and meta data would be in the iphoto library on my internal HD and the actual photos would be on the external hard drive.
    Brilliant....
Except , space continued to become a problem , so I moved the iPhoto library onto the same harddrive anyway.
Not the end of the world I guess...
Except! now I am looking at backing up my entire iPhoto library to an online storage service, (drop box , or google drive) , because I am in the extremely procarios possition of having only 1 copy of all of our pictures!
I am aware that if I back up my iPhoto library (the iPhoto file) , that will not back up the associated files that are connected but not imported into the library.
I haven't tried this , but I suspect that even if I purchase a regular back up drive, and move all pictures and iphoto library onto the new hard drive, I may still have issues with the iPhoto library trying to locate the original picture on the original drive, rather than the copies that are stored onto the new back up drive.
I say this because I am already having error messages from iPhoto telling me it cannot locate the original...
    Sorry for the massive post.
Any help will be extremely welcome!

Basically you need the photos available a tthe path the they had when they were imported, check the option to copy imported items to the iPhoto library and then you use the iplm rebuild -
Photo Library Manager - http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/ -  can rebuild a referenced library into a managed library but only if the original photos are accessable via the path in iPhoto
Or if you have iPhoto '11 9.4.2 and Aperture 3.3 or newer you can use Aperture to reconnect the photos

  • How to remove duplicate photos with Elements and Revel?

While on vacation this year, I uploaded pictures from my camera to my iPad to Revel.  When I got home, I copied all of the pictures from my camera to my harddrive on my laptop and imported them into Elements 12.  On my laptop I store photos in subdirectories like this:  \Lisa\albums\Pictures201509.  I found duplicates of most of my photos in \Users\Owner\My Pictures\Adobe\Revel\My Catalog Old.  I would like to clean these up so I only have once copy of each photo on my harddrive.
    I have 3 questions:
    Why did this happen?
How can I clean this up and not complete mess up my Elements and Revel catalogs?
How can I prevent this in the future?
    thanks,
    Lisa

The folks at www.overmacs.com/photosweeper told me that they are upgrading their product so it will work with Apple Photos.  It works now with iPhoto and Aperture.  It has many adjustments to detect same name files, and even same or similar content images.  Monitor their website for a future release.  There is a small fee for the pro version, which is well worth the price.
