How to organize podcast channels into folders?

I'm brand-new to iTunes so maybe I'm just not figuring it out: I have lots of podcasts and it would be helpful to be able to organize them by general topic area (Project Management, Health Care, Cooking, etc.) How can this be done? Creating a playlist doesn't work because it lists all of the individual shows, all together. Any help would be appreciated.

You should be able to do it with smart playlists rather than playlists. Set up the smart playlist to match ANY of the rules you list. Then set up rules that match on Artist or Album. It's not exactly what you're trying to do, and it definitely takes a little work, but it helps me get organized. I have a handful of podcasts that are my favorites, so I keep those in a smart playlist. But I'm always trying new ones, so I also use a Recently Added Podcasts playlist that includes everything of Genre = Podcast.

  • How to organize j2me classes into packages?

    Hello!
I'm using Wireless Toolkit 2.5.2 and I have got a question about it.
Does anybody know, how to organize j2me classes into packages?
As far as I know, all source files should be placed inside WTK_home_directory\apps\my_project\src folder.
Although it is possible to create arbitrary folder structure (for example, src\com\my_company\www\my_package) and successfully compile the project,
it's not possible to run it on the emulator or any target device. Trying to do it, I get ClassNotFound exception.
It's not surprisingly, because virtual machine on the device doesn't know, where to look for desired classes.
So the question is how to add new entries to the device classpath (of course, if it exists)?
And is it possible to configure it through application descriptor (jad) file somehow?
    Any ideas, references, descriptions?
    Thanks in advance,
    A.

    Hello!
So, I have found the solution and this question is not actual any more.
The solution is quite simple - you have to properly configure application jad-file.
It can be done like this (in ktoolbar):
    1. Open project settings from main menu (Project - Settings).
    2. Then go to MIDlets tab.
    3. There you have to change value in "*class*" column (for example, to smth like this - com.my_company.www.my_package.my_midlet_class_name).
    4. Press Ok button.
Having done these steps, you will be able to have any package structure you need
(because after it AMS on the device will know where to look for your application class files).

  • How do I organize pages documents into folders on iPad?

I'm both an author and a student and could greatly benefit from using this program for my documents, and if you look at the top of the screen, there is an icon of a folder there, but how the heck do I organize my documents into the folders?
I can't imagine having to scroll through hundreds of documents to find the one I want... but this seems to be the only way to find things. Is it possible that we can put a man on the moon but can't organize our documents in pages?
    I think not.
So please, somebody tell me how to deal with this mess.
    Thanks!!

You are in the Mac iWork area. Better to ask the iPad folks.

  • How do I file email into folders?

    Hi,
How do I create and file emails into folders?
I've created a "Smart Mailbox" (whatever that is, lol) and tried to drag emails into that folder but it doesn't work. When I click on the email and want to move it, nothing shows up to move it to: including the smart mailbox that was created.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Lee

    j.v. wrote:
it is creating an alias in that smart mailbox
I have heard this statement before, but it is not true. A message in a Smart Mailbox (or a file in a Smart Folder in the Finder) is not an alias. It is simply the same original in a different context.
An alias, in Mac OS terminology, is a separate and distinct file from the original. It is a file whose property is that, when opened, it redirects and opens a different file (the "original"). But the alias itself is a distinct file. It can be renamed, moved, deleted, labeled, etc., without having any effect on the original. None of this is true of the "contents" of a Smart Mailbox/Folder. If you delete a message in a Smart Mailbox, you are deleting the original message. If you drag the message to a (non-Smart) Mailbox, you are moving the original. Some people seem to be confused that a message (or file) can appear to be in more than one place at a time. It is, nevertheless, the exact same message, and misunderstanding this point could have unfortunate consequences.

  • My picture folder is missing from my laptop and I am having trouble with how to organize my pictures in folders

I have been trying to learn how to use my MacBook Pro better so I can get my photos on it. I do not like iPhoto at all because it was not letting me organize my photos the way I always did in Windows Explorer. I am now trying to use Lightroom and I have run into some issues with how my photos are showing up.
    1. Whenever I removed my photos from iPhoto so I could start over, my Picture file in Finder disappeared. I do not believe I deleted it but somehow I must have. I was trying to just delete my pictures from Imgages under All My Files. I thought that All My Files was duplicating data and I don't want duplicate pictures on my computer. However, now I am just wondering if All My Files is just a link to my actual files. What is the purpose of that?
    2. I imported one photo card to try to work with it and made a new Pictures folder on my desktop and arranged it using some folders and sub-folders I created.
    3. I then uploaded these through lightroom.
    4. Somehow, all of my photos were showing up in images, which is not where I wanted them and I deleted the duplicates.
    5. Now many of my folders in the Picture file I created on the desktop are empty with no photos
    6. I tried to restore my pictures from the trash to Images under All My Files and it keeps putting them into documents
    7. I have been trying to learn how to use this computer but it seems so different from what I was always used to with Explorer. This should not be that complex but I search and search on the web and can't seem to find exactly what I need to help me

iMessage and FaceTime went down yesterday for some people. Mine is still down. My iMessage is saying the same thing about being activated. Sounds like you are still down too. Ignore the status page that says everything is fine - it lies.

  • How to organize podcasts?

    Hello,
It is useful to me to organize and re-organize my music in iTunes by genre, artist, length etc. but this seems to be impossible in the Podcast category. In my iTunes the Podcasts are automatically sorted in alphabetical order of Podcast name, however, the program thinks that they are sorted by "Release Date" as that is the category at the top of the page that is highlighted (in the same way that Genre would be highlighted in the music part of iTunes). What is going on?
I ask because I hope to sort podcasts into Genres or Groupings i.e. Music, News, etc.
    Thanks!!

I think that in order to do that, you're going to have to create some playlists.

  • How to download podcast channel for bb 9220?

can anyone help me with my question pls?
i can't find videos on youtube on how to add channels/use podcast for bb curve 9220.
there's a podcast icon on my phone but there is no "explore podcast" folder in it.
i hope i can get help from you guys..thanks in advance!

The cloud-and-arrow symbol is nothing to do with iCloud. It indicates that the episode is available to download from the author's server. iTunes can automatically download new episodes - check your settings (in the bottom right-hand corner when you are subscribed to at least one podcast):
Set 'Show' to 'Feed'; click 'Settings' and set 'Download episodes' to 'On'.
When you subscribe to a podcast which already has a number of episodes only the latest one will download automatically (on the assumption that you may not want to download what might be two or three hundred episodes) so you will have to download manually any other episode; but after that it should download the latest episode.

  • How do I move photos into folders in Windows 8.1

I loaded a number of photos off my camera and am now struggling to move them into different folders. I am unable to drag and drop, or copy and paste them into the new folders I have created and am getting more and more fedup!
I am using an HP15-N090SA laptop set up with windows 8.1

    Hi dpa2013,
    Thank you for your reply.
Here is a link to Copy and Paste Feature Not Working in Windows 8, from the Microsoft community. that has helped other people. Hopefully it will resolve it for you  also. If you are still experiencing this issue, I would suggest doing a clean install of Windows.  When I viewed the specifications for your system, I see it shipped with Windows 7. If you do a system recovery, it will take you back to the original OS. Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows 7) . You have an option during the recovery process to backup all your data, therefore you would not loose anything. Restoring Files that were Backed Up Using HP Recovery Manager (Windows 7).  Here are the steps to follow before upgrading to Windows 8.1.  Upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 8.   Please let me know the outcome.

  • How do I move files into folders in Pages? I can't seem to drag and drop anymore, except via my web browser in iCloud.

Before the Yosemite update. I'm pretty sure I could just drag and drop documents in and out of folders. Now, I can't seem to do that, though the option still exists if i log into iCloud in my browser or even my iOS device. This seems odd to me. Am I missing something?

Where did you recall doing this?
Essentially all file movement is done in Finder, not Pages.

  • How do I reorganise documents into folders?

My current version is 5.5.2 (2120) in OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 (14D131) and Im looking to move created documents into specific folders.
As a student I regularly create documents on specific topics and in my Pages I have folders for each topic. What I would like todo is drag and drop documents into the folders but pages stops me from doing this.
The only way I have fixed this is to open up my iPad pages and organise the documents on there, simply by dragging and dropping.
Have I missed something on pages for Mac?

On your Mac, option+Save As… . In the File Save chooser, click the small black triangle adjacent to the filename. You want this black triangle facing up so the expanded Save As panel is visible. Now, you can either navigate to and open (double-click) existing folders where you want to save your current document, or on the bottom panel is the New Folder button.
The File Save As chooser window does not support drag and drop as one might expect from a true Finder window. If you were to drag and drop a document from the Desktop into this Save As window, not only would it not copy, but it would switch the location of your Save As window to the Desktop.

  • HELP!  I'm going crazy trying to organize my music into folders!

I am managing my own music which I need to do.
I've now got thousands of playlists, each usually an album or artist name. For example I've got over 33 Madonna albums. Just my "A's" to get through on the playlist require my thumb to go around the wheel dozens of times.
I need to have folders, I would like to name them "A" and have all my playlists that start with A under them. I'm thinking "M" followed by a subfolder "Madonna" followed by a playlist with a playlist for each Madonna album.
It is not letting me do any of this. I can make a folder but then it won't let me drag it to my ipod. I create a folder and try to drag a playlist into it and it won't let me. I can't deal with this much music anymore. There has to be a way to use folders for this.

It's not difficult to use but if you are used to doing it a differnt way, it may be confusing.
You're gonna have to try to not apply what you used to do.
In iTunes, go to menu Edit - Show browser.
This will show a list of Genres, Artists and Albums.
Click on any of these to view just that info.
    Same on the iPod.
Go to Music -> Artists -> Albums
or Music -> Genre -> Artist
    or Music Albums
    or Music -> Playists.
Yes, you can create folders in iTunes under playlists. This will help keep your playlists a bit organized.
I have two folders, one for my playlists and one for my daughters playlists.
However, these folder do not get transfered over to the iPod. Only the playlists get transfered.
To get Artist>Album>Playlist, on the iPod, use Music -> Artist -> Album and press Play.
In iTunes select the artist and the album and press play.
You don't need a playlist for an artist or album.
To play all songs by an artist (or Genre) , simply select the artist and press Play
iTunes and the iPod are not as friendly for classical music. Many people edit the ID3 tags to exchange the Composer and Artist fields. This way everything from Strauss will be shown under Strauss instead of the 27 different orchestras who recorded Strauss.
Here's a good place to start -> iPod 101 - Master Your Music and More
It explains the basics of iTunes and the iPod.
If you have questions, feel free to ask them here.
Try and be specific about what you are trying to accomplish.

  • I followed directions of arrowing down and hitting delete, but cannot get certain addresses out of by address/location bar. What am I doing wrong? I also have not been able to figure out how to move existing bookmarks into folders.

I am running Windows Vista, Firefox 3.6.13, on a 18 month old HP a6700f. I read the embedded help, but the instructions for deleting addresses doesn't work and it doesn't tell how to move existing bookmarks to a folder.

    See:
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Sorting_and_rearranging_bookmarks_-_Firefox
Entries in the location bar drop down list with a yellow (blue on Mac) star at the right end are bookmarks.<br />
You can remove such a bookmarked item that shows in the list if you open that url in a tab and click the yellow star in the location bar.<br />
This will open the Edit This Bookmark dialog and you can click the Remove button to remove the bookmark if you want to remove such a bookmarked entry.<br />

  • How do you drag files into folders on the new mountain lion?

When i select the file i want to drag into a folder, it drags normally but i can not place it in the new folder.  nothing fancy just rying to move pictures into the same folder.
    Thanks

    Hi there...
    I'm in the same boat.
I clean installed Mountain Lion no problems, everything seems to be a little quicker even... .a bonus.
But then I stumbled across something.
I am unable to move or drag files around.
Let's say I have a file jpg in the desktop, and I want to move it to the pictures folder... Normally I would just hold down the trackpad, and physically move it in to the open pictures finder... but it just will not move.  I can select it, open it, rename it, everything... but I just cannot drag anything anywhere.
Lets say the jpg on my desktop needs work and I want to open it in Photoshop.  I have the Photoshop icon in my Dock, and for years have simply dragged whatever jpg onto the PHotoshop icon in the Dock to open it.. .but now I can't.
At the moment I am copy/pasting everything, which is time consuming and sooo annoying you have no idea.
I just wanted to move a AVI from my downloads to the desktop.  I had to copy, paste, then delete from downloads... ***?!?!
Am I the only one experiencing this problem??
    Please let me know.

  • How to organize apps into folders and make them stick in iphone 3gs?

Four hours down the drain! Darn, I decided to finally learn how to organize my apps into folders and do it right. Instead I spent four hours and must have got it wrong.
I opened iTunes on my MacBook with my iPhone attached. Then clicked on the iPhone in the left side list of my iTunes. Then clicked on apps which brought up a nice page with all my iPhone apps listed in one window on the left and all the pages of the apps that are on my iPhone in the window on the right. So far this is what I think the User Manual and Help said to do.
At that point I created new folders by dragging one app over another. For example, I would find a photography app and drag it onto another photography app. That automatically created a folder with the name photography. Just what I wanted. I then looked for more photography apps and dragged them to the folder.
This is not too easy because I had eight pages of apps. At first, I would grab an app on a page and drag it to where I knew the corresponding folder would be and put it into the folder.
Later I found another way was to use the list of my apps on the right to put them in apps.
In the end, from what appeared on the screen, it seemed to me that most of my apps were in folders and the folders were either on page one, two, or three. At that point I thought that I should sync the MacBook with the iPhone, I believe, and did so.
When the sync was finished I took the iPhone off the computer and looked at it. NONE of the folders I created, nor the organization into folders of the apps were on my iPhone!
Obviously, I did something wrong since the same mess was on the iPhone as before, with apps all over the place and impossible to locate without taking too much time. This after four hours of work looking at a 13 in. laptop screen!
What I hope is that someone smarter than me will look at what I did and tell me where I went wrong.
I want the apps on the iPhone to be organized into logical folders so it is easier to find them. Something along the lines of a good database, you know?
Thank you for reading to the end of this question,

OK, I spent another afternoon doing the job started yesterday. Last night (could not sleep, so might as well think) I got to thinking that I really must have missed a step or something because all my work was done on the Mac and I did not recall any time when I transferred the new setup with folders to the iPhone.
Sure enough, when I tried it today I did find that missing step. When looking at the Home Page of the iPhone or any page being worked on, in the lower right hand corner two buttons say
    SYNC APPLY
I do not recall using the APPLY button on the first day trying this, but I used it this time.
After making changes, I hit APPLY and the computer began to sync with the iPhone.
This time, although there is nothing telling the user what is going on, the sync actually makes the iPhone pages to look exactly like the pages created on the Mac.
Too bad the instructions and help did not say to do things in this way, which is the only correct way, as far as I can tell.
I have about 155 apps on the iPhone, making the job extra lengthy. However, I never could do it on the iPhone’s tiny screen, even though it is possible, so this was good - working on the larger screen of the MacBook.
There are also some (undocumented?) tricks in using the MacBook for this task. For example, it is possible to create a folder and then, using the list of all apps on the iPhone that is on the left side of screen, open the folder, click on the check box next to any app you want to put in the folder and it will jump right in!
If the check box already has a check mark, just click the box to remove it, click again to put the check mark in the box and voila the app takes off for the folder. This also works to just put apps onto a certain page, if you want to do that, but dragging apps around sometimes works better.
I hope it will not be necessary to do this again because of the time involved, and he need for quite a bit of thinking on how to move the apps and folders around to get everything just where you want it on the iPhone. The work reminded me of an old kids game that has a small square case with, I guess eleven movable numbers, that are all mixed up, and one space that is not filled with a number. You can move the little squares with the numbers around inside the case to try to line the numbers up in order from 1-11 and do it faster than anybody else.
Well, unfortunately lining up all my apps was like that because each page of the iPhone only holds 16 folders or apps and each folder is limited to 12 apps. Starting with 155 apps it takes too much mouse maneuvering to make the process easy.
Finally, the automatic folder names are very broad, as in MUSIC, LIFESTYLE, SPORTS and such, so I often just deleted the given categories and put my in my own. Also, some day I may break down the folders more because twelve apps in one folder means the apps are still pretty much out of view.
I wrote this in case anyone else finds it and has the same irksome product. If I just reinvented the wheel, please do not tell me now.

  • My bookmarks keep disappearing at random, and will also disappear every time I try to organize them into folders. How can I fix this?

I use Firefox 3.6.20 on a Macbook. Almost every bookmark I attempt to save will disappear immediately after doing do. Also, when I'm trying to organize my bookmarks into folders, doing so often makes the bookmarks disappear as well, rather than placing them in the selected folder. The action of dropping them in a folder will either multiply the bookmark into three bookmarks, or make it go away completely. How can I fix this?

The Views menu in the Bookmarks Manager (Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks) is for displaying the bookmarks in different sorting orders (hence the name Views) and doesn't sort bookmarks permanently.
In Firefox the option to sort bookmarks is only available for folders and not for individual bookmarks.<br />
Easiest to sort by name is to do that in the left pane of the Bookmarks Manager (Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks) and right-click the folder that you want to sort.
