How to organize songs

hello i created a playlist but i want to know how to organize songs just in the order that i want...i mean, not in alfabetical order...i want to organize from the quiet song to the fastest...for example. from one classical to rock song
thank you

Rodrigo,
The answer depends on whether you're trying to order a smart playlist or a regular playlist.
If it's a regular one, you can manually arrange the order of the songs. Select the playlist, make sure to click on the heading of the left-most "numerical" column in the display and then drag the songs to the places you want them to be.
If it's a smart one, you can try the same method. I actually didn't expect it to work but a quick test with my iTunes shows that it does. Again, make sure to click on the left-most column heading first.
Anyways, once you've changed the playlist in iTunes, the new order should transfer over to your mini.

  • How to organize songs the way I want!!

    Ok, bear with me:
I hate the way songs are organized in Itunes. I wanted to be able to go in Songs and have everything alphabetized by artist and then song like this:
    John Lennon - Imagine.
Or by titles I create like: 80's - Europe - Final Countdown.
Now, if I ever have tag info, Itunes organizes by song name only in the song list. So basically, my solution was to delete ALL tag info so that songs show up as they do on my computer. This works well for navigating to songs in the song list but then I can't have anything organized by album or artist.
My problem is this: I'd like to be able to go into Albums and/or Artists and have bands organized there as well in case I just want listen from those (potential) lists, as well as having files organized by artist-song name in Songs. In a perfect world, I'd be able to add full albums into Albums and either not have them listed at all under songs (probably not possible) or have them list the way I want in Songs: artist dash song.
Is there any way to make this happen? Thanks for any tips.

Hey, try the following video link on playlists, may be of some use.

  • How to organize songs in playlist?

I have an iPhone 4s, and on my Favorite playlist I had them organized by alphabetical order to keep track of which songs i had in the playlist and which ones i didn't. When i went to look to see if i had a certain song on the playlist, i realized they were all out of order. I chose edit, and attempted to reorganize the songs, but they did not stay in the place that i put them in. I would move a W song to the W's, and it would move right back up to the C's. How can i fix this without deleting my playlist?

  • App - REMOTE - How to organize song list?

I am using the app from apple called: Remote. It lets you connect to your itunes on ur desktop from your ipod touch and control the songs/volume over wifi. I haven't used it in a few weeks.. but I could of sworn last time I used it, it would show the songs in alphabetical order.. Now its not working and I am unable to figure it out.
There are 2 methods that I use to get it in alphabetical order.. 1 is an easy way and 2 is the long way. The first way bugged out on me and is what I am needing help with:
    1) When you open Remote, there is a MORE option in bottom right hand corner.. and then you just select the songs tab and it shows all the songs. But now its not in alphabetical order =(
    2) Open Remote, click ARTISTS option and then click ALBUMS and again click SONGS and THAT shows them in alphabetical order..
Anyone able to help me get step 1 to work? Sorry for long post, just wanted to hit all the details

I'm fairly new here, but I believe itunes will put it in the proper folder if you label it properly. If you have 2 songs from 2 different sources, and you want them in the same album by the same artist, make sure they have the exact same artist name and album name, and make sure under 'preferences' that you elect to have itunes organize your music files. The rest should be automatic.

  • How do i organize songs in the order i want? it seems that i cant drag them where i prefer

I am trying to organize songs in a specific order on my ipod.  how do i drag them where i want? I have set up a playlist but cannot seem to manupulate the songs around.

In the list view, you can click on any column to sort by that column.  For a custom sort, click the column left of the name column with the track numbers as shown.  This allows you to drag the songs into any order you want.

  • How to organize iTunes playlist--specific question

    Hello,
Can someone please tell me how to organize my iTunes library so that it displays in the following order:
    1) Alphabetically
    2) Numbers (Songs that begin with a number, such as 24 Hours To Go)
    3) Punctuation (Songs that begin with a punctuation sign, such as, "Miles and Miles")
My iTunes has always been organized this way, but somehow it recently switched so that it is reversed (Punctuation first, numbers second, and alphabetical last). There must be a preference or something to make it switch around, but I've looked everywhere and can't figure it out.
    Thanks!!

    Hi--
I think I'm not describing the problem correctly. If I do as you suggested, then the order just "flips" to the other way around. What I'm looking to achieve is this following order:
    1) Alphabetical
    2) Punctuation
    3) Numbers
Numberical-named songs (such as 24 Hours to Go) always used to be at the bottom of my list. It was always alphabetic first, then punctuation, then numbers at the end. But I can't get it to set up like that any more---the "numbers" songs always end up in the middle between alphabetical and punctuation---no matter which way I flip it. How do I get it at the bottom?

If you  have iTunes 11 turn on the Sidebar.  Go to iTunes>View and click on Show Sidebar. You can also do a Crtl+S to show the sidebar. The sidebar is where Devices appears. and Control+B to show the Menu bar
To import music into your iTunes library on the computer go to iTunes>Help>iTunes Help>Add items to iTunes and follow the instructions
To sync to your iPod go to iTunes>Help>iTunes Help>Sync your iPod....>Sync You Device and follow the instructions.

I can't figure out how to add songs from my itunes library to my iphone.  I used to just drag the songs from the library to my phone, but now that won't work. It's probably something really simple that I'm missing, but it's frustrating me. Can anyone help? My phone is the iphone 4 if that matters.

Yes, thank you also. I was racking my brains out how to do a simple thing like adding songs to my ipod.
But it's option+command+s to show or hide the side bar. 

  • For iTunes Match, how come some songs "match" on an album and other songs on the same album "upload" without matching?

For iTunes Match, how come some songs "match" on an album and other songs on the same album "upload" without matching?  All songs are available on iTunes.  I don't get it!  Any way to manually match songs that iTunes apparently can't match?  I have hundreds in this unmatched state.

    gsl wrote:
Shazam has NO problem determining what these songs are. Maybe Apple needs to consider licensing their technology as it seems MUCH more accurate than what they are doing.
You aren't comparing like with like.
The main task that Shazam has is to identify the name or a track and the artist. I believe that it suggests the album as well, but if it gets that wrong then it doesn't really matter too much.
With iTunes Match, getting the album (i.e. identifying which version it is) is much more important. If it gets that wrong then it breaks up the flow of an album. This makes the task that match has very much harder.
In fact, there is a strong argument to say that currently the problem iTunes has is that it is matching too many songs, resulting in matches from different albums.
I'm sure that match is not struggling to identify whether it has a song or not, but whether it has the correct version of a song. When you introduce different masterings into the process then, depending on the thresholds set, it is probably correct in concluding that it hasn't got a particular version, even if you think it has.
The solution would appear to me to be a tweaking of the matching thresholds along with the ability to force an upload, but we just don't know what restrictions they have (remember that if Shazam gets it wrong the it doesn't present you with a copy of a new track that you didn't have previously). It is almost certainly not just a case of improving their technology.

  • Does any one know how to arrange songs by location in itunes lybrary?

I've ripped more than 100 CDs in different folder in my computer. After installing itunes, every songs is added to the library. But when I want to transpher some songs located in a specific folder, I can not find how? They only arrange by names, or album, or artist... They don't know if you got a collection of favourite songs in a folder, how can I find them, or I have to find each song manualy? Any one knows how to arragne songs by their location, pls help. Thanks alot

I can not drag directy from my store folder to my Ipod, right?
    Correct.
I dont want to select hundreds of songs one by one.
Okay. You have already done that.
But how do you find a specific song? You have to remember if it's in your favorites folder or in the artist folder or ???
In iTunes, you create a playlist, put the music you want in the playlist, drag the playlist to your iPod in iTunes.
Anytime you wan t, add or remove songs from this playlist and plug in the iPod to sync it up.
    iTunes is a music manager.
You are simply using Windows Explorer/the desktop as a manager now.
iTunes is so much more versatile. You can sort, group, exclude by Album, Artist, date of song, Genre, and a bunch of other criteria.
Just as you don't care where a song is physically located on a CD, you don't need to be concerned (too much) with where it is on your HD. With iTunes, as long a syou know something about it (Artist or album), you can find it with one or two clicks.

How to transfer songs from one iPad to another iPad using iTunes?

You can't without a third party app. If you didn't purchase the Music with your Apple ID or if the music was imported from CD's on your friends iTunes library, syncing will not work ....nor will transferring purchases.

How to keep songs on iphone, work computer and home computer the same?
This seems like something everyone would want to do. I don't know why Apple won't give us a simple solution. They could even charge us for it. I would pay!

If you just want to be able to sync your devices to the same PC without having them get overwritten all the times, here is a free method
    http://cnettv.cnet.com/sync-your-ipod-two-computers/9742-1_53-50004835.html
Basically, you put the same itunes database file on all the PCs. This fakes itunes into thinking it is always the same PC and the ipod is OK to sync with it. It will NOT keep your libraries truly synced, though. I've just resigned myself to always buying from one PC and manually transferring the content to other PCs I want it on.

  • How to recover song that are "lost", itunes can't find them even though I have downloaded and played them before

Does anyone know how to recover songs that itunes has "lost"?
I downloaded them, synced my ipod, songs were added and I was able to play them.
On a recent sync the songs are suddenly "not found" according to itunes.  I can't locate them in the itunes folder, so I have no idea where itune put them.  BTW-this is not the first time itunes stored songs in a random directory......  Since itune can't find them, they were deleted from my ipod

Look, I understand I still need a card attached to the account. The problem is, it won't accept my card because I only have 87 cents in my bank account right now.
If I had known there would be so much trouble with the iTunes card, I would have just put the cash in my bank account in the morning instead of buying an iTunes card (I didn't expect the banks to be open on Thanksgiving of course).
Apple will only accept cards that have a balance. The balance is so small in my account that it won't accept it as a valid card.
I'm going to have to contact Apple anyway to reset the security questions. That's obvious. Your answers were not exactly helpful. You didn't tell me anything I don't already know, but thanks for trying to be helpful.
