How to output to DVD for duplication

OK, my video is finished. BUT, the file is very large: 5.3 gigs at present. I'm sure that its too large for a dvd disk. So what's the limit for filesize and how can I reduce my video to the necessary size for reproduction?
Also, now that my dvd burner isn't working correctly, I need to send the video to a company that can make copies for me. So my other issue is, how do I output the video from Encore for duplication to DVD? Can encore export all the settings, including menus and content? thanks
My understanding is, a dvd can't be any larger than maybe 4.7 gigs, and that's really pushing it.

Tell Encore to create an image ISO on your hard drive... any other computer with ISO aware software may be used to write a DVD
If you exported from PPro as MPEG2-DVD and your 2 files (audio and video) total 5.3Gig you will need to author in Encore and create a dual layer project for writing to ISO
While some is for CS5 and later, many of the ideas/tutorials in the link below do still apply
The PPro/Encore tutorial list in message #3 http://forums.adobe.com/message/2276578 may help, with more help in message #5

  • Best quality to burn a dvd for duplication

Looking for the best way to get the best quality burning a dvd for duplication for resale.
I have iLife09. Its about a 33min video shot with a mini HDdv

    Hi
    My list on DVD Quality.
    *DVD quality*
    1. iDVD 08 & 09 has three levels of qualities.
iDVD 6 has the two last ones
    • Professional Quality (movies up to 120 min.) - BEST
    • Best Performances (movies less than 60 min.) - High quality on final DVD
    • High Quality (in iDVD08 or 09) / Best Quality (in iDVD6) (movies up to 120 min.) - slightly lower quality than above
    2. From
    • FCE/P - Export out as full quality QuickTime.mov (not selfcontaining, no conversion)
    • iMovie x-6 - Don't use ”Share/Export to iDVD” = destructive even to movie project and especially so
when the movie includes photos. Instead just drop or import the iMovie movie project icon (with a Star on it) into iDVD theme window.
    • iMovie’08 not meant to go to iDVD. Go via Media Browser or rather use iMovie HD 6 from start.
    3. I use Roxio Toast™ to make an as slow burn as possibly eg x1 (in iDVD’08 or 09 this can also be set)
This can also be done with (Apple) Disk Util tool.
    4. There has to be about or more than 25Gb free space on internal (start-up) hard disk. iDVD can't
use an external one as scratch disk (if it is not start-up disc).
    5. Verbatim ( also recommended by many - Taiyo Yuden DVDs - I can’t get hold of it to test )
    6. DVD-R (no +R or +/-RW)
    7. Keep NTSC to NTSC - or - PAL to PAL when going from iMovie to iDVD
    8. Don’t burn more than three DVD at a time - but let the laser cool off for a while befor next batch.
    iDVD quality also depends on.
    • HOW much free space is there on Your internal (start-up) hard disk. Go for approx 25Gb.
less than 5Gb and Your result will most probably not play.
    • What kind of movie project You drop into it. MPEG4 seems to be a bad choice.
other strange formats are .avi, .wmv, .flash etc. Convert to streamingDV first
Also audio formats matters. I use only .aiff or from miniDV tape Camera 16-bit
strange formats often problematic are .avi, .wmv, audio from iTunes, .mp3 etc
Convert to .aiff first and use this in movie project
    • What kind of standard - NTSC movie and NTSC DVD or PAL to PAL - no mix.
(If You need to change to do a NTSC DVD from PAL material let JESDeinterlacer3.2.2 do the conversion)
(Dropping a PAL movie into a NTSC iDVD project
(US) NTSC DVDs most often are playable in EU
(EU) PAL DVDs most often needs to be converted to play in US
UNLESS. They are plabacked by a Mac - then You need not to care
    • What kind of DVDs You are using. I use Verbatim DVD-R (this brand AND no +R or +/-RW)
    • How You encode and burn it. Two settings prior iDVD’08 or 09
Pro Quality (only in iDVD 08 & 09)
Best / High Quality (not always - most often not)
Best / High Performances (most often my choise before Pro Quality)
    1. go to iDVD pref. menu and select tab far right and set burn speed to x1 (less errors = plays better) - only in iDVD 08 & 09
(x4 by some and may be even better)
    2. Project info. Select Professional Encoding - only in iDVD 08 & 09.
    Region codes.
iDVD - only burn Region = 0 - meaning - DVDs are playable everywhere
DVD Studio pro can set Region codes.
    1 = US
    2 = EU

SPRO -> Material Management-> Purchasing -> Message -> Output Control->Message Types->Define Message Type for Purchase Order
    *4. Message Determination Schemas*
    4.1. Message Determination Schemas
SPRO -> Material Management-> Purchasing -> Message -> Output Control->Message Schema->Define Message Schema for Purchase Order-> Maintain Message Determination Schema
4.2. Assign Schema to Purchase Order
SPRO -> Material Management-> Purchasing -> Message -> Output Control->Message Schema->Define Message Schema for Purchase Order-> Assign Schema to Purchase Order
    5. Partner Roles per Message Type
SPRO -> Material Management-> Purchasing -> Message -> Output Control-> Partner Roles per Message Type ->Define Partner Role for Purchase Order
    6. Condition Record
    Navigation Path: SAP Menu-> Logistics -> Material Management -> Purchasing-> Master data->Messages-> Purchase Order-> MN04-> Create
Now you create PO (ME21N) and save it. Go to ME22N and print the PO by giving output type.
    Output of GR
After setting table, access sequence and output type for GR,run MB02 transaction, enter material document number. Double click one line item and select messages. Separate screen will be opened to configure outputs. Give the required fields and save the document.
Now Run MB90, you can take printout. Output Type: WE03 or WE01 or WE02

  • PAL-authored Final Cut Express project...how to burn to DVD for NTSC audien

Not sure if this is possible...and through searching a few previous posts it sounds like it may require additional software...but what the heck, thought I'd ask anyway ! I operate in UK and have made several FCE movies for friends in the UK which I've burnt onto a DVD and sent to them as gifts. Now I want to do the same for a friend in the States, and I'm wondering how to go about the PAL>>NTSC issue. Would it be easiest to just take the PAL-dvd and pay somebody at Jessops etc to convert it onto a NTSC dvd for me? I don't mind paying a few quid for someone else to do it, especially if it would require me to go out and buy all kinds of software to be able to do it myself... But I'm worried about how the picture files, music, titling, special effects etc would come out. Anybody have any experience with this? Thanks.

Toast 7.x is able to burn a PAL-project on a NTSC-dvd. In the preferences of Toast you can decide wether the output will be a PAL- or a NTSC-dvd.
For friends in Brazil I burned a NTSC-dvd, but I still don't know if it works!
    Give it a try on a dvd-rw.

  • New output option -- dvd for tv viewing

Hi all of you apple peeps,
I'm new to posting here but I've loved reading the forums. I've found them very very helpful, for which I am grateful. I've been working on an oldie version of FCP (4.x) with short educational videos (about 4 mins) that I've posted on the web ok. I am going to be participating in a school event where we'll be showing the videos on a multi-computer installation, and one administrator suggested that I burn them to dvd for tv to sell for a donation so that we can make more educational videos.
I know the quality won't be perfect, since I never intended to make them for tv. I know that I can use dvd pro on the school's computer (my FCP package came with livetype and soundtrack but not dvd studio) to have them encoded for tv, but can anyone please help me with basic steps to note in FCP and then in DVDpro? I have four shorts on the same sequence. Should I make chapter markers in FCP? Will they be 'read' by DVD studio pro? How should I output the files from FCP? Do they need to be compressed first or would that be doubly redundant since DVD studio does this? I will be bringing along a firewire hard drive with the files and will hook them up on the school computer that has a more recent version of FCP and will have DVD pro.
Any basic help is much appreciated. I will be checking more books and online forums, but at this point, with this event, I'm about to drop! Most likely we will be selling to people who are not expecting Speilberg ... at least not this version.
    Thanks in advance!
    Betty

Ha ha, fast response. I used the term Peeps as opposed to Chicks as opposed to ... I guess...chicklets.
I checked out DH's link and wonder -- how to I differentiate the different videos as sections or chapters? I'd like to have the chicklets who view my dvd to be able to select the next video if possible.
Also using the compressor intimidates me. I tried using it a couple of times to no good end (I believe there was a smell of burning tires, or was that hair, while trying to use compressor). At the risk of getting scorned at by you busy professionals, can someone point me to a link of dropping a fcp file into compressor? Can it possibly be as easy sounding as that?

  • How do I get DVD for the Windows 7 that should have come with my new laptop please

This is my first message here so please bear with me. I have just bought a new Lenovo Essentials B570 laptop which has come with Windows 7 pre-installed. Previously I used to buy Dell laptops which used to come with OS Re-installation DVDs which check to see if they are being installed on the hardware it was bought for but would allow us to install the OS on a new hard disk if the original one crashed. Now Lenovo seems to be using a very complicated method to allow buyer's to re-install the OS - they are expected to retain the same hard disk - but what happens is the hard disk crashes and one wants to install the OS along with all the drivers? The Dell DVD allows me to do precisely that. Can I create a similar disk to install the OS on a new hard disk as and when I want/need it please? I have created two sets of DVDs using the OKR software - one set using the 'system presently on disk' and another set for 'resetting to factory defaults' - but from what I have read on these forums these OKR disks would not work if I put a completely new hard disk. So at least if I can get hold of the correct version of the Windows DVD - as I have paid for the license I would be very grateful. Thank you.
    Solved!

    Thanks for the quick reply.
But to me this looks more like a OKR solution and I have already created these Factory Reset discs.
Will these discs work if I have installed a completely new hard disk in the dive? Because that is what I would need to do in the rare event that I have a complete hard disk failure.
What is confusing is the fact that on these forums, I find many messages which indicate that the OKR solution would work only with the original hard disk and it would not work with a completely new hard disk and also that the OKR itself would not be able to change partitions on the hard disk - even when it is the original hard disk. To me this means any disks that are created using the OKR would be useless when the original hard disk has undergone severe change or a completely new hard disk is in its place. Correct me if I am wrong. (In fact I am hoping that I am wrong in that assumption.)
My laptop has a 750GB hard disk and it has Windows 7, 64bit. I actually want to make this into a dual boot machine with KUbuntu. What is stopping me attempting that is the fact that C drive has bigger partition and D drive is a smaller partition (too small in fact - 30GB these days is practically nothing) and I learn that any modifications I do to drive partitions would render the OKR non functional.
I can live without this simplistic one key rescue operation if I have recourse to the Windows 7 DVD and that is why I asked the question.

  • How to output from InDesign for best photocopy results?

    Hi,
I need to output a color newsletter created in InDesign to be printed in grayscale for b&w photocopying. Because the newsletter has a few photos and other grayscale images, the InDesign file needs to be printed to my printer at a lower lpi for the best results to be photocopied.
The original is in color because the newsletter is primarily shared digitally. However, the client has a need to print copies on their photocopier for other distribution needs.
How can a file be EXPORTED or SAVED or PRINTED in a way that I can play with the lpi output in order to find the best results with their copier?
    Thanks.

Does this need to be copied "off the glass" on this copier, or does it have a printer interface? Copying halftones is always a problem, and you don't normally get to set the screen frequency for a desktop printer (some postscript printers might allow it) -- in general they only have the abilitly, due to low resolution limitations, to output a very small number of actual frequencies and the odds that you'll find a screen that doesn't create an interference pattern onthe copier are pretty small. IF there is any way to adjust the lpi value, it will be in the printer driver.
If the client's copier has a printer interface, that's the way to go. Make a grayscale PDF (or if it's a monochrome machine, just send it the color PDF and see how it prints) and print, rather than copy, so you aren't re-screening the images.

  • How to create a dvd for stereo and 5.1

    Hi to everybody
I wonder if I can use stereo files (aiff and wave) to create a dvd that will work with a stereo system and a 5.1 system. I made a dvd before and one of the shortfilms couldn´t be read in 5.1, but the rest worked perfectly, so I don´t understand how it works. Do I have to make a menu for 5.1 another for stereo, or it could work with both?
    Thank you

At product/category/sku level there is a property called template.
Find the property in ACC/BCC and provide all the values including the URL property.
In you jsp, you can use this property from product/sku like the way you retrieve any other property from sku/product.
    <dsp:valueof param="product.template.URL" />
Using that property with <dsp:include> includes that page.

  • How do I make a DVD for a TV without idvd which is not on my new iMac?

I have a new imac (a pc user) and I made an imovie but now I can't make a DVD because apple no longer includes idvd. I have searched the web and talked to long time mac users and no one has any suggestions on how to make a DVD for a TV to send out my movies of sale horses.

The current Apple thinking is that the entire world has access to fast broadband and wants to destribute home movies to friends and relatives via download (iCloud) rather than mailing them a DVD. The fact that nothing could be further from the truth has so far had no effect on this policy. If you scream and shout loudly enough down the phone Apple may send you a free copy of iDVD. That has worked for some, but is not guaranteed to work for all.
Whilst Macs with a Superdrive continue to be able to burn video DVDs, the software for so doing, iDVD, is no longer included in the iLife bundle that comes with Lion. You have to buy iLife 11 from online Apple Store in order to get iDVD. You are strongly recommended to do so soon as it will not be available for much longer.

  • HOW TO CREATE VIDEO DVD WITH ADOBE MEDIA ENCODER

I AM NEW TO ADOBE PREMIERE. AFTER SOME HOURS OF LEARNING FINALLY I FINISHED EDITING 30 MIN OF VIDEO. NOW I DONT KNOW HOW TO OUTPUT TO DVD ( VIDEO DVD ) TO PLAY IN DVD PLAYERS. PLS HELP.

Which version of Premiere? CC does not include Encore, but you can download the Encore CS6 from your account. As it is part of Premiere CS6, I believe you would need to download and install Premiere/Encore CS6, and then you can uninstall Premiere CS6, leaving Encore CS6 installed.
If you have Premiere CS6, then you already have Encore CS6. In either case, from Premiere, use File > Export > Media to open Media Encoder. For FORMAT, choose "MPEG-2 DVD", then choose an appropriate preset from the list. For instance, if editing with 1080i, then you might choose NTSC Widescreen High Quality. For 1080p, then use the Progressive version, etc.
What is your source video format? If starting with HD, then check the box at the bottom of AME for Max Render Quality, it helps with the scaling.
Hit EXPORT at bottom and it exports two files, an .m2v for video and .wav for audio. Open Encore, start a New DVD project, and then File > Import > As Timeline and grab both those files for import. From there, I recommend finding an Encore tutorial, too involved for me to type it all out here.
Hope this gets you going at least, but search online for tutorials, there is plenty of good, free stuff out there

  • PLZ HELP.. How can i make dvd from FCP project..

    Can someone plz help..
I have FCPPRHD and DVD Pro..
I got lost trying to make a dvd out of fcp project
Can someone plz help in easy 123.. steps how to make a dvd for my client to view..
    Thnx ever so much
    awaitng ur reply

I don't want to sound too harsh, but you really need to read the manual and do the tutorials.
You shoot, capture and edit in FCP. You export that to MPEG2 using compressor and you import the resulting video and audio files into DVDSP. You add a menu and set up buttons to get to the footage, and you set up navigation so that your client can get back to the menu at any time. You build and format that (i.e. burn the disc).
That's the process, but it is very much more detailed than any of us could write here.... it's all in the manual and tutorials

  • How can I have a custom output file destination for each different preset?

    Hey guys,
I have a bunch of presets in AME but I need to have each preset export to it's own folder. How can I do that? This was a really simple thing to do in Compressor but in Media Encoder is seems like I can only specify one output file destination for the whole application in general and everything gets exported to that folder. Can anyone help me with that please?

This is a user to user forum. It is not staffed by Adobe employees so you will not always get a direct response from Adobe.
That being said, the output destination is not tied to the presets so this is not possible without a little extra work. You can change multiple output destinations by selecting multiple jobs and then clicking on one of the output locations to update them all. Another way to set this up would be to use watch folders.

  • How to make a NTSC DVD for the USA

I want to put some movies on a DVD for some relatives to play on their DVD player in USA which uses NTSC I believe.
How do I convert my PAL footage to play on their machine in iDVD6?

    Hi Alexander
Two ways. One bad and one very good.
    • Burn a NTSC-project in iDVD - BAD AND LOSY QUALITY
    • Open Your movie in JES_Deinterlacer - Google it - it's free and let it convert Your PAL (25fps) project
to NTSC (29.97fps) then start a new iDVD NTSC-project and drop this new converted movie into
    this.
This should be enough - BUT You can do more.
    • Now Save as a DiskImage to eg Desktop
    • Burn this by Apple Disk Util tool or Toast™ - AT AN AS SLOW speed as possible eg x1, x2 or x4
    • Burn it on high quality media: I use Verbatim DVDs
    • Use DVD-R (not +R or +/-RW)
Doing the last steps gives a DVD that has less writing errors = Can be played on more types of player
eg. stand alone DVD-player or PCs
Yours - HAVE TESTED THIS and got a very good result - confirmed from US: Bengt W

You can't one way or the other. Serial numbers are platform specific and platform swaps only apply to current  versions, meaning you have to upgrade to CS6 and make the switch.
