How to overcome error 1500 when installing reader on Windows 8?

Trying to install Acrobat Reader on Windows 8.  After downloading, I keep getting an error 1500 (another installation is progress).  I've tried doing the recommended registry edit (removing an "inprogess" key -- it's not there) and running msiexec/unreg and msiexec/regserver.  After taking these steps and trying again, error 1500 occurs at the same point.  Is this a Windows 8 issue?  Anyone know of a solution?

Try downloading the offline installer from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
Restart Windows to make sure nothing is running, then run the downloaded installer.

  • Error 1935 when installing CRRuntime_12_2_mlb on Windows 7

Our customer is reporting an Error 1935 when installing CRRuntime_12_2_mlb.exe on Windows 7
It says... "Error 1935. An error during the installation of assembly component {97F81AF1-0E47-DC99-A01F-C8B389A1E18E}. HRESULT: 0x800736FD."
On the progress bar it says... "Binding executables File: u2ftext.dll"
They say they installed this while logged in as an administrator.
Any ideas on how to fix this?
    Thanks!

Why are they installing the CRRuntime_12_2_mlb.exe?
If they are trying to run an app created by you, then you are in the wrong forum and you should post your query to one of the developer support forums...

  • How do I fix "OS requirements not met" error message when installing CS6 on Windows 8.1?

    Hello,
    I am trying to install Design Standard CS6 on a Windows 8.1 Machine 64 bit  (Toshiba Click-2 Pro, i7, 8 GB RAM, 1920 x 1080 resolution)
I get Warning DW066 and DW065, saying "OS Requirements not met" and "Display Requirements not met" for various things related to Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign CS6 but I don't believe this is true.
Acrobat Professional simply has ERROR DW050 - install failed, and doesn't show up at all.

Dear Jeff - Thanks for that - I had seen those notes on the adobe help site, but, the instructions given don't seem to apply exactly to Windows 8.1 as when I looked them up, I couldn't find the network path specified in the help document you reference:
    Windows 32 bit (XP, Vista, 7): \Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Installers\
    Windows 64 bit (XP, Vista, 7): \Program Files(x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Installers\
because on my windows 8.1 machine, in the  "Adobe" folder there was no "installer" folder.
Since I wasn't sure how to find the error log, My first "Troubleshooting" move was to de-install the program  (Adobe Design Standard CS6) and then re-download the file from the adobe site here:  http://www.adobe.com/downloads/other-downloads.html
However, at the moment, the problem seems to be ok, so I guess that perhaps that fixed the problem? Fingers crossed!
For future reference (or in case someone else is looking at this posting with a similar issue?) do you know how to find the error log on an installation on Windows 8.1? Thanks!

  • Repeated Error Messages when installing Reader 9.3 on Win7

Recurring problem trying to install Adobe Reader 9.3 on WIN 7 PRO.
ERROR 1305 - installation can't find AcroRead.msi - And the file is sitting in the Reader folder!
ERROR 2203 - installer cannot open DB (e06734.ipi) SYS Error (2147287035) - This is a new error message that started today???
Have never had a problem downloading and installing Reader, it's the most straightforward download out there.  Downloading directly from the Adobe website, tried auto-install directly from the download - and - saving download to folder and installing.  What's wrong?

Believe I have discovered the problem - C:\Windows\Installer has no files/folders - it is empty!  I can't install because there are no WIN files to run the installation app.
Where and Why the files vanished is something known only to Microsoft.  Does anyone know how to restore the Installer folder in WIN 7?  None of my backup's help.
Microsoft forums/support have only updates for prior versions - which I cannot install because Installer doesn't exist.

  • Error message when installing Safari on Windows xp

Tried to install Safari on Windows XP.
    Recived the following message;
"The older version of Apple Software Update cannont be removed. Contact you technical support group."
    Then this message,
    "Safari Installer Interrupted"
What do I do and how do I fix it?

    Hello, dtharachai.
Thank you for the question.  Here are a couple things you could try to troubleshoot this issue.  You can try to repair the program Apple Software Update by following the first article below.  After you process these steps, attempt to uninstall this program.  If that step does not work, I have included a more in depth troubleshooting article that will help you uninstall program.  Once this is done you should be able to install Safari.

  • Re "Could not open key: UNKNOWN\Components\[LongStringOfLettersAndNumbers]\[LongStringOfLettersAndNumbe rs]" error messages when installing iTunes for Windows

In answering this, B Noir had it almost correct.  What he missed was that in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\UserData \S-1-5-18\Components one must also make sure that when right clicking on components/permissions, that the active user is allowed Full Control.

Many thanks for the heads up, Mac. In recent times, I've also seen that reported during a troubleshoot of a Safari variation of the issue:
Re: Trouble installing Safari Update On Windows
Plausibly we might be looking at two different subvariations of the issue.
Doublechecking something ... did your key (in the error message) have the UNKNOWN\Components\[LongStringOfLettersAndNumbers]\[LongStringOfLettersAndNumbe rs] structure? Or was it just a UNKNOWN\Components\[LongStringOfLettersAndNumbers] (no slash and no second alphanumeric string), like rona's key?

  • "There is a problem with this Windows Installer package ..." error messages when installing iTunes for Windows 7 64bit

I was promted to upgrade to the new itunes version today (11.0.2.26), but wish I never had as the previous version worked just fine!! I have been unable to install the new version and keep getting the message about there being a problem with the Windows Installer package. I tried following the instructions on this support pages on removing all Apple programs but that didn't work either!! I have Windows 7 64 bit and am close to throwing my PC out of the window!! Quicktime will not re-install correctly either...
Any suggestions will be most gratefully received

Just in case, let's try a standalone AppleSoftwareUpdate.msi install.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe, and select "Extract to iTunesSetup". WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup".
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleSoftwareUpdate.msi to do a standalone ASU install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleSoftwareUpdate.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If not, what error message do you get? (Precise text, please.)
