  • How do I rip all songs from a CD into one folder consistently ?

    Hello,
Newbie iTunes user. ITunes occassionally does not put all songs in the same folder when ripping a CD. For example, when ripping Alicia Keys Unplugged, a few of the songs (the duets, featuring "x" artist) are placed in separate folders. This a big inconvenience particularly in the future when I rip my 500+CDs completely.
Also, why do some discs get placed in a "compilation" folder (ie Movie soundtracks).
All I want is for ALL CDs to be ripped into separate folders; first grouped by artist and then subgrouped by album, ALL the time. Also, I want to eliminate any album placed into the compilation folder.
Is this possible? What settings do I specify? Any other tips. Thank you in advance.

    Thanks for the responses.
Just confirming: It appears the best way to rip CDs with iTunes (as I desire) is to first edit info before ripping. Then we can specify info as I feel appropriate.
To do this, I go to Preferences/Advanced/Importing, and select ON CD INSERT "SHOW CD" or "ASK TO IMPORT CD"?
I previously had the setting set to "IMPORT CD".
Then check Album info and make sure artist and album info is the same for each song and edit if necessary.
Then I go to the CD (under Devices), and right click, "Get info". Edit genre. I don't want anything to go into the compilation folder, but I do want all songs from one album to stay in one folder. Should I check "compilation CD"?
    Then how do I import?
I appreciate any info. For an Apple product, iTunes is not as intuitive as it should be (at least in my opinion).
    Thanks.

  • How to locate all iTunes libraries and condense into one?

Last fall I did multiple backups of my iTunes library, along with random music folders.  I reloaded my OS X and it seems didn't restore my iTunes folder correctly.
What is going to be the most efficient way for me to:
1: Locate all my libraries (two backups with one being Time Machine)
2: Place them all together in a Master iTunes library?
I'm frustrated wondering if I've lost a big file of music!
I see there's been other queries similar to my problem but the ones I read were dating back a number of years ago...
    Thanks for any help.

In your case unless you want things to get very messy very quickly the best thing is to choose which library you want as your starting copy, then add any media files you think are not in that library from the media folder used by the other backup.  If you want hugely messy you add all media files just to be safe and then spend a week or two sorting out the duplicates one by one.  If you want immensely, hugely messy you do the former and import the other library file into the first one and sort out all the duplicate playlists created in doing so as well as all the duplicate media files.  I mean for me I know yesterday's backup is last week's backup plus new media plus changes I have made, so I don't really need last week's backup unless yesterday's backup drive has fried.  I only really need one or the other.

  • Before this last firefox update I used to be able to save all bookmarks that were open into one folder. It was under bookmarks and said "save all bookmarks". I do not see this anymore and would like to know how to do this. thanks

    please help

Some menu entries in the main menu bar are hidden if you use the mouse and only appear if you use the keyboard to open the menu (Bug 626825).
You can see the difference if you use Alt+F to open the File menu or Alt+B to open the Bookmarks menu and compare that to what you see if you use the mouse to open the menu after you have made the menu bar visible by tapping Alt or by pressing F10.
    * "Bookmark All Tabs" (Shift+Ctrl+D) no longer shows in the Bookmarks menu unless you open the Bookmarks menu via the keyboard (Alt + B).
    * "Bookmark This Page" can be accessed via the right-click context menu of that browser page.

  • HT1449 how do you move all music from two computers into one itunes account?

How do you move all music from two computers into one itunes account?

An "iTunes account" is an online account you use for buying music, like a bank account.  An iTunes collection is the media you see when you open iTunes. Which do you mean?
If it is two computers, it would also help to know where these are located. Are they on the same local network? If they are, try Home Sharing (and you have control of both and you aren't just trying to get music fro your computer to your friend's computer in another state).  If they are not, you'll have to use an external hard drive or flash drive.
Is this on a PC? Your computer information says Windows but you posted this in the iTunes for Mac forum.

  • How to delete all duplicate songs in Itunes in one step?

How to delete all duplicate songs in Itunes in one step?

Apple's official advice on duplicates is here: Find and remove duplicate items in your iTunes library. It is a manual process and the article fails to explain some of the potential pitfalls such as lost ratings and playlist membership, or that sometimes the same file can be represented by multiple entries in the library and that deleting one and recycling the file will break the other.
Use Shift > View > Show Exact Duplicate Items to display duplicates as this is normally a more useful selection. You need to manually select all but one of each group to remove. Sorting the list by Date Added may make it easier to select the appropriate tracks, however this works best when performed immediately after the dupes have been created.  If you have multiple entries in iTunes connected to the same file on the hard drive then don't send to the recycle bin.
Use my DeDuper script if you're not sure, don't want to do it by hand, or want to preserve ratings, play counts and playlist membership. See this thread for background, this post for detailed instructions, and please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping.
(If you don't see the menu bar press ALT to show it temporarily or CTRL+B to keep it displayed.)
The most recent version of the script can tidy dead links as long as there is at least one live duplicate to merge stats and playlist membership to and should cope sensibly when the same file has been added via multiple paths.

  • Why has iTunes seperated a album which I have copied over from my external hard drive into iTunes? How can you pull all the songs back together into one album again?

Why has iTunes seperated a album into indevidual songs, which I have copied over from my external hard drive into iTunes? How can you pull all the songs back together into one album again?

Quick answer:  Select all the tracks on the album, File > get info, and either give them all a single "album artist", or check the "compilation" flag (as in https://discussions.apple.com/message/17670085).
If these are from multiple-CD sets you may also need to enter the appropriate information in the disc number fields.  If they are not a multiple CD set you still need to make sure the disc number fields are set correctly or all empty.

  • How many memory is used for the process of one connection?

    Hi,
how many memory is used for the process of one connection in unix
when the user connects to the database?
    Thanks,

Write some queries using v$sesstat, v$statname, v$session to find the statistics for different stats. Query name from v$statname and find whatever you wants. I don't think there is a common rule that tells how much memory will be used for each connection, it depends on different factors like , resources available, type of databases, database memory settings etc.
    Example query.
    select s.osuser osuser,s.serial# serial,se.sid,n.name,
    max(se.value) maxmem
    from v$sesstat se,
    v$statname n
    ,v$session s
    where n.statistic# = se.statistic#
and n.name in ('session pga memory','session pga memory max',
'session uga memory','session uga memory max')
    and s.sid=se.sid
    group by n.name,se.sid,s.osuser,s.serial#
    order by 2

  • How can I combine all of my music into one folder for itunes

I have a PC running windows XP I have just bought a IPad 3 and I am trying to consolidate all my music into one folder on one drive so that the sync does not have a problem finding many tracks every time I connect my IPad please can anyone help.
    Kind Regards
    Derek

Hi Derek. Do you know where your active iTunes library is? If not download & run the script iTunesInfo which should output something like this:
I'm interested in the values of the first four lines. If needed you can hide your username with <User> if it's in there. Also worth checking that media folder location given by the script agrees with Edit > Preferences > Advanced. If not, let me know.
Which of your drives has the most free space? Ideally you should move your current library to that drive as X:\iTunes (when X: is the drive letter) and then consolidate all your existing content that wasn't inside the current iTunes Media folder. I can descibe what to do on a generic basis but with the details I can produce a step-by-step guide that will be easier to follow.

  • How to nestle 20+ pages into one "folder" in the vertical left-hand index c

This question regards the vertical index column on the left hand side of the workspace in an open iWeb program.
I have a bunch of regular pages (about 20 and growing) that I will link to another single page. That single page will have a bunch of pictures and each picture will be hyperlinked.
This means that my vertical left hand index will become very very long unless I can get them all into/nestled into one “folder”. Is that possible when dealing with just regular web pages and not photo albums or movie albums?
I tried at first to use a blog, but the blog puts pages in chronological order, and this project does not require link clicking to be chronological or sequential. People can click wherever they want to click and arrive at a page. Then they can click “Back to the Original Page with all the links and pictures.”
This is a light-hearted endeavor, not a serious documentary type thing.
So back to my question: Is it possible for me to nestle all those 20+ pages under that one original map/photo page with all of the photos hyperlinked? Or am I stuck with a long Index now? Or is there some other way I can deal with the one map/photo page and the other pages that the first page links to? I am going to put links on the other pages too, so that people can click where they want and see new/different things at different times.
Thank you for any help you can share with me......

If I understand you correctly the answer is no. You want to be able to shorten the list of pages in the left hand pane of iWeb. The only way to next them would be to create a new site and drag some of the files to that site. But that would make them separate from the others. Unless you're willing to do something like that and then on the map photo page link each photo to one of the pages in the other site and manually add a link on those pages back to the map/photo page. A little more work I think than scrolling down to find a page you need to work on.
I have a web site with about 40 pages. However, each page is a separate site and I use a frame file to link them all together. That's possible. If you were to try that you'd had to make each page a site in iWeb and then follow the workflow in the description below to separate them into individual domain files.
I use iWebSites to manage multiple sites.. It lets me create multiple sites and multiple domain files.
If you have multiple sites in one domain file here's the workflow I used to split them into individual site files with iWebSites. Be sure to make a backup copy of your original Domain.sites files before starting the splitting process.
This lets me edit several sites and only republish the one I want.
Again, it may be easier to just scroll.

  • How do I join multiple (short) audio clips into one single long audio clip in Premiere Pro CS5?

    Hello,
The question is in the title but I'm wondering how I can join multiple (short) audio clips into one single long audio clip in PP CS5.5.  I put all my short clips right next to each other and selected all of them to see what options are available by right clicking and using the toolbar options at the top.  The closest that I got was to nest the sequence, but that's not what I really want.
I'd like to merge all the short clips into one single (long) audio file to use under the video.
Thoughts are welcome and  greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    -Melvin

O.K. This is kind of fundamental and you will need to learn up on this fully ...but for now...
Make sure you have the WAB ( work area bar )covering the length of the audio clips. ( You do not need to select them)
Go to the File Menu> Export Media
You will be given all the Export Options.  Choose Wave File
Select option for Export Work Area.
Choose where to export the file to ( HD location)
    follow your nose from there....

BTW - Why are you taking the audio to Audition anyway? What are you going to do to it.

  • How do I combine two or more pictures into one?

How do I combine two or more pictures into one?

I found out how to do what I wanted and I'm giving my steps in hopes that it might help someone else.  I wanted to put several photos from a file onto a new blank image.  This is what I did.
    1.  Create a blank page.    File/New/ Blank File.   Put in the size.  I used 8x10.
    2.  Bring the photo  you want to use into Elements as you always do. It will list along the top next to the blank sheet.
    3.  Choose SELECT (top of screen)/ Select All.
    4.  Choose Edit/Copy   or Command "C"
    5.  Click on the Blank File.   Chose Edit/Paste  or Command "V"
    6.  Click on Image/ Transform or Command "T".  There should be a dotted line around your pasted image.  You can then move and adjust the image to how you want it.  When finished, press the check-mark on lower right of photo.
    7.   Repeat this with all the photos you want on the new blank file.
    8.  You will see on lower right of Elements,  the background layer and as many layers as you have photos.  These layers need to be permanently placed on the background layer. Go to Layers and press Merge Visible.  This will merge all layers to the background.
    9.  Save as and you are done.

  • What's the easiest way to select all my files from all the folders on a hard drive and place into one folder?

    Hi there,
I have about 30,000 images all in hundreds of folders. I'm wondering what the easiest way to get them all into one folder so I can select and convert them all from .psd, .tiff, etc all to jpg. The reason I'm doing this is because the folder structure is such a mess, that I'm just going to import them all into aperture to sort everything. But the .tiffs and .psds are 100 mb each so I want to scale them to jpgs that are only 4 or 5 mb before I even think about importing them into aperture.
I tried doing a search for "kind is image" and it shows them all but a ton of them are renamed the same thing so when I try to select all and move into one folder it tells me I can skip that one or stop copying.
Any thoughts or ideas on this?
    Thanks,
    Caleb

    Hi russelldav,
one note on your data handling:
When  each of the 50 participants send the same 60 "words" you don't need 3000 global variables to store them!
You can reorganize those data into a cluster for each participant, and using an array of cluster to keep all the data in one "block".
You can initialize this array at the start of the program for the max number of participants, no need to (dynamically) add or delete elements from this array...
    Edited:
When all "words" have the same representation (I16 ?) you can make a 2D array instead of an array of cluster...

  • How do I put a group of tracks into one album

How do I put a group of songs into one album?  They copied separately into iTunes.

Generally, in iTunes, all you need to do is fill in an appropriate Album Artist to keep things together. For older iPods each track from the same album should have the same artist, or be marked as a compilation where appropriate. On iOS devices you may need to go to Settings > Music > Group By Album Artist > On. For more details see my article on Grouping Tracks Into Albums, in particular the topic One album, too many covers.
