i hope u understand my question

You can use dependent lov concept for this. Go through the development guide for the same.

  • Passing where clause with spaces from forms to reports

    Hi,
    Has anybody passed where clause as lexical parameter with spaces from forms to preports..
    I have seen people mention that, we can replace the spaces with special characters and then replace it again in the before trigger report..does anyone have a working example of that??
    Thanks.

    i solved the issue..
    i had written the procedure in the before report
    trigger instead of writing it in the before parameter
    form trigger..
    it works perfecto now..
    Thanks.We had removed the spaces and used commas to delimit each item.
    So you are saying spaces are not a problem in 10g?

  • OA Framework LOV – How to add where clause dynamically at runtime

    Hi All,
    Following is my page design:
    MainAM (This is root Application module) Package is: mycompany.oracle.apps.<product>.<project>.server
    MainPageVO (This is the View Object associated to Main AM)
    LovAM (This Application module is for LOVs) Package is: mycompany.oracle.apps.<product>.<project>.lov.server
    FileNameLovVO (This is the View Object is for "File Name" LOV. It is associated LovAM)
    I my main page is attached to the "Main AM". In the main page, I have a custom search region and in that there is a messageLovInput type of field based on "FileNameLovVO". The field name is File Name.
    Use Case:
    When a user opens the page, I determine user type. If the use is a clerk (not a superuser) then I need to restrict values in my File Name LOV by setting where clause dynamically.
    Issue1:
    ====
    In the main page controller when I do following, OA Framework is not able to access the "FileNameLovVo".
    1. Following code is from the main page's controller:
    String userId = 100;
    LovAMImpl lovAm = new LovAMImpl();
    Serializable[] lovParameters = {userId};
    Class[] lovParamTypes = { String.class };
    lovAm.invokeMethod("initLovQuery", lovParameters, lovParamTypes);
    2. In LovAMImpl class I have created following method:
    public void initLovQuery(String useId)
    FileNameLovVOImpl fileNameLovVo = getFileNameLovVO1(); // ******This returns NULL*******
    if (fileNameLovVo == null)
    MessageToken[] errTokens = { new MessageToken("OBJECT_NAME", "getFileNameLovVO1")};
    throw new OAException("AK", "FWK_TBX_OBJECT_NOT_FOUND", errTokens);
    fileNameLovVo.initQuery(userId);
    In the above code "FileNameLovVOImpl fileNameLovVo = getFileNameLovVO1();" is returning NULL.
    Please let me know what am I missing here.
    I resolved above issue with following work around:
    1. Attached "FileNameLovVO" to "MainAM"
    2. Moved initLovQuery(String useId) method to "MainAMImpl" class.
    Is that the correct way? I would prefer NOT to attach "FileNameLovVO" to "MainAM". Any suggestions?
    Issue2:
    ====
    After using above work around I tried to set WHERE clause dynamically:
    FileNameLovVO is based on following SQL query:
    SELECT DISTINCT file_name FROM <table> WHERE USER_ID like :1
    I need to pass value for USER_ID if the user is a clerk and I need to pass '%' if the user is a supper user. I'm passing value in "LovVo.initQuery(userId)" method using following code:
    public void initQuery(String userId)
    StringBuffer whereClause = new StringBuffer(1000);
    Vector parameters = new Vector(1);
    int bindCount = 0;
    setWhereClauseParams(null);
    if ((userId != null) && (!("".equals(userId.trim()))))
    parameters.addElement(servicerId);
    whereClause.append(++bindCount);
    if (bindCount > 0)
    Object[] params = new Object[bindCount];
    parameters.copyInto(params);
    setWhereClauseParams(params);
    executeQuery();
    When I select LOV at runtime in the page, it fails with following error:
    oracle.apps.fnd.framework.OAException: oracle.jbo.SQLStmtException: JBO-27122: SQL error during statement preparation. Statement: SELECT * FROM (SELECT DISTINCT file_name FROM <table> WHERE user_id LIKE :1) QRSLT WHERE (( UPPER(FILE_NAME) like :1 AND (FILE_NAME like :2 OR FILE_NAME like :3 OR FILE_NAME like :4 OR FILE_NAME like :5))) ORDER BY file_name desc
    OA Framework tries to create following statement:
    SELECT *
    FROM (SELECT DISTINCT file_name
    FROM <table>
    WHERE user_id LIKE :1) qrslt
    WHERE (( UPPER (file_name) LIKE :1
    AND ( file_name LIKE :2
    OR file_name LIKE :3
    OR file_name LIKE :4
    OR file_name LIKE :5
    ORDER BY file_name DESC
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks for your help guys.
    Mitesh

    I have a lovinput item which has an external LOV attached to it - the VO uses the below sql query. I want to display the addresses of the customer accounts belonging to the customer name or account entered. I have a PPR event in the account number field which is calling the onAccountNumber method in my AM - the method is getting triggered when you enter the account number and the vo returns the rowcount as 3 exactly but if you click the lovinput item - it brings back all the addresses available instead bringing back addresses beloning to the account number.
    public void OnAccountNumber(String accountNumber,String partyName,
    Boolean executeQuery)
    System.out.println("Im here on account number" + accountNumber + " PartyName:" + partyName);
    AddressVOImpl Addrvo= getAddressVO1();
    Vector parameters = new Vector(2);

  • How to pass parameters to a Lov's Query?

    Hi friends,
    [Apps R12]
    I'm trying to extend the a ProjectLOVVO (for OTL, in example) and the extension would consist on modifying the Lov Query adding in the where clause a comparison with certain fields of the page....
    How can I retrieve a value in the page , a field/item, form_value, or similar and put it in the Lov's query? Is there any direct way to reference it..? Is it necessary to do any special mapping? What about those "bind variables", .. I don't know exactly how to use them.. and if this could be a purpose for their use..
    Thanks for any comment.

    Hi Prasanna,
    thanks for he coment, but.. I think It really doesn't exists the LOV Region Item you mention...
    I mean, the "real" case is:
    In OTL, inside Create timecard page (+/oracle/apps/hxc/selfservice/timecard/webui/TcActivitiesPG+) I want to restrict the Project LOV query (ProjectLOVVO) to add the project manager in the LOV (well, it can be done adding to the from & where clauses the per_all_people_f and pa_project_players) but, for this, is necessary to check the dates.... so It's necessary to add in the where clause a check for the "period", that is a data in a poplist on the screen... [I wasn't be able to locate where is that period stored]
    Also, as a Time card is for a person.. I need too to retrieve the person_id for that person (this person could not be the one who has connected... because you can create a timecard for another user) so.. I see this information on screen at the top, where it appears the "Time Entry:" label... but.. how to locate it into page? and.. are you sure it can be mapped to include it in the LOV query? (It would be necessary to use it as I've seen in others lov's queries.. where it seems to appear parameters/variables/mapping named as :1 ,:2 ... :number... , I don't know how to add it)
    Any detail step would be very appreciated.
    Thanks a lot.!!

  • Passing where clause  to lexical parameter in report

    I have a requirement to send the values of lexical parameters in reports from Forms 6i , like i have written one query in report builder with lexical clause being where.Now i want to pass this where clause as a whole from forms 6i, for example.
    select asset_code,asset_name from fix_asset @p_status
    now i want to pass this p_status from forms 6i which has 1 radio group with 3 values , if i select value 1 then where nvl(at_status,'X') = 'X' ,if i select value 2 or radio button 2 then where nvl(at_status,'X')='Y' and if i select 3 then both x and y should come together.Edited by: 998476 on Jun 5, 2013 12:01 AM

    I have a Before trigger Function to which the parameters will be passed.
    Suppose if User selects multiple values for a parameter then how to pass these multiple Values to that parameter?
    eg:In first Workbook Before Trigger is fired and the paramters for the trigger are
    'par1','par2','par3' etc.
    If User selects multiple values for a parameter 'par1' from the list of values displayed then how to pass all these values to 'par1' in Function?
    After firing the trigger rows are inserted in a temp_table .My second Workbook will
    fetch the rows inserted in this Temp Table.
    I hope u understood what my requirement is...
    Thanks in advance

  • How to use WHERE Clause in BPEL

    Hi ,
    i am trying to use where clause in DB adapter but its not working.
    my query is "select empname from employee where empid = &a"
    can any body tell me what is the reason its npt working?
    and how can i retrive data form DB?

    Hi,
    You are thinking perfectly fine. The solution what I suggested was
    select ename from emp where empno=?
    And the solution provided by you was
    SELECT first_name, last_name FROM per_all_people_f WHERE person_id = #p_person_id
    There is no problem with the above mentioned select statements.
    I just want to say that if you see closely, internal logic changes #parameter name to ?. So both the logics are right.
    Cheers,

  • Additional where-clause for LOV in 9i needs table-alias

    We have upgraded from 6.0 to 9i. All our Forms had been generated for 100% using Headstart. Now we try to generate them all again and encounter a problem with the list of values. It appears that the Additional restriction in the List of Values Properties always needs the table-alias to work properly when references are made to an item in the form.
    For example:
    We have item ORG_CODE in block ORG and have a lov showing all others organisations. The default-where coded in 6.0 looked like this:
    org_code <> :org.org_code
    In 6.0 this worked perfectly. However, in 9i the where-clause is being translated into
    :org.org_code <> :org.org_code
    Offcourse the lov now always gives the message that it contains no entries!
    We have found a solution for this problem - rewrite the where-clause to
    lov_alias.org_code <> :org.org_code
    However, this solution means that we have to check tens, hundreds of lov's, because we never used to put an alias in the where-clause.
    Because of this problem 95% of our Forms can not be generated anymore.
    Anyone has a easy solution for this problem?

    I mean:
    select * from T-A, T-B
    where T-A.id = T-B.id (+)
    and T-B.number (+) = 570
    to get the null record you'll have to do:
    select * from T-A, T-B
    where T-A.id = T-B.id (+)
    and nvl(T-B.number,0) (+) not in (0,570)
    or
    select * from T-A, T-B
    where T-A.id = T-B.id (+)
    and (T-B.number (+) <> 570
    or T-B.number (+) is null)
    hope that works (untested)
    null

  • How to use "where" clause in modify statement

    Hi
    can any1 telll me is it possible to use a where clause in a modify statemetn. I want to use modify statemetn  to insert a new recoed in a database table.
    Regards
    Sabahuddin Ahmed

    MODIFY itab - itab_lines
    Syntax :
    ... itab FROM wa TRANSPORTING comp1 comp2 ... WHERE log_exp.
    With these additions the MODIFY statement assigns the content of the comp1 comp2 ... components of the wa work area specified after TRANSPORTING to all lines in the itab table that meet the logical condition log_exp. The wa work area must be compatible with the line type of the internal table.
    The TRANSPORTING addition has the same effect as changing individual lines. The WHERE addition can only be specified together with the TRANSPORTING addition. After WHERE, any logical expression can be specified in which the first operand of each individual comparison is a component of the internal table. All logical expressions are therefore possible, with the exception of IS ASSIGNED, , and IS SUPPLIED. It is not possible to dynamically specify a component using bracketed character-type data objects.
    While for standard tables and hashed tables all lines in the internal table are checked for the logical expression of the WHERE statement, for sorted tables, optimized access can be achieved by checking at least one opening part of the table key for parity using AND linked queries in the logical expression.
    Example
    Change the contents of the planetype component for all lines in the sflight_tab internal table in which this component contains the value p_plane1 to the value p_plane2.
    PARAMETERS: p_carrid TYPE sflight-carrid,
                p_connid TYPE sflight-connid,
                p_plane1 TYPE sflight-planetype,
                p_plane2 TYPE sflight-planetype.
    DATA sflight_tab TYPE SORTED TABLE OF sflight
                     WITH UNIQUE KEY carrid connid fldate.
    DATA sflight_wa TYPE sflight.
    SELECT *
           FROM sflight
           INTO TABLE sflight_tab
           WHERE carrid = p_carrid AND
                 connid = p_connid.
    sflight_wa-planetype = p_plane2.
    MODIFY sflight_tab FROM sflight_wa
           TRANSPORTING planetype WHERE planetype = p_plane1.
