How to paste selection into a mask

So If I have two images, ones tha alpha (both png for arguments ake) how do I make one the mask of the other? Using CS1?
Sometimes I fudge the combination right, sometimes I blunder the shortcuts for ages and end up giving up. Have looked in help/online/in manual etc.
Cheers
AC

Sorry but neither method seems to work for me.
So I make the mask greyscale.
I select all.
Do I copy?
Then I go Select>Load Selection, and Choose "Background Gray"
then I select The Colour Image.
And I go Layer>Add Layer Mask> reveal All
And that gives me 100% White mask :-( THats trying your first method as best I can understand it.
Second Method:
Select all of greyscale Mask image,
Copy,
select colour version,
Create std Mask,
Alt Click in Mask...
And in doing the alt click it turns pure white, theres no pop-up menu offering the paste option.
rightclicking gives 8 options none of which I understand, all of which scramble my brain like eggs.
Can you suggest at what point I am able to screw both these methods up? Remember this is CS1
Thanks

How to paste pictures into email account signature. I cannot get the pic to be visible. I have an iPhone 6 Plus

I think I got it to working, IMbatman13folllowing the directions from that thread.
I created a signature on my laptop.  Included a png in it.
Sent an email with that signature to myself on my iPhone. I did not put a message in the body.
Opened it up on iPhone. Selected entire 'body'.  Copied all.
Went into Settings, Signatures, Selected a different email account, pasted in what I had copied.
    And it worked.

  • How to paste pictures into mail

If I copy a picture from Photos and paste it into an email it shows as a document. Is there any way to paste it in so that the photo actually shows?

There are a number of apps that you can use to crop photos (e.g. Adobe Photoshop Express), and with iOS 5 in the Autumn we should be able to crop photos in the Photos app itself (http://www.apple.com/ios/ios5/features.html#photos)
I assume that there are also photo apps that can re-size photos, not that I've got one.
Edited : corrected name of the app

  • How to drag and drop a picture into a mask?

I have a text box which has a masked photo in it. I used to be able to click on a picture in my web browser, drag it over to iWeb, and drop it into the mask with one quick and easy motion.
I made some changes to my web site and now I can not do this anymore. I have to drag the picture in, cut it, double click the masked photo, and paste it into the mask. I do this frequently so being able to quickly throw in a new picture is very convenient. I'm not sure what small thing I've changed. Any ideas?

I used to be able to click on a picture in my web browser, drag it over to iWeb, and drop it into the mask with one quick and easy motion.
The method you describe sounds like you're stealing images from other websites... please say this isn't the case.

  • Moving a layer's alpha channel into layer mask

    (CS3)
I have a raster layer that has some semi-transparent pixels. I'd like to make the layer itself fully opaque, and move the contents of its alpha channel into a layer mask. How would I go about doing this? (If possible, merging the alpha channel with what I have already placed into the layer mask.)
    Thanks!

Copy the alpha channel into your clipboard, then paste it into the mask. To paste into a layer's mask, alt click the mask to make the mask the focus then ctrl v to paste. To remove focus, alt click on the mask again or click on another layer. As to how to mix the two, you could probably do it using calculations.

  • Pasting photos into IPhoto

I saw a tip that said to use Control-Command-Shift 4 and then paste the photo you've copied, directly into Photo Shop and I want to know how you paste it into Photio Shop

    Albert:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. That key combination takes a screen shot of what ever you've selected on the screen to the clipboard. To paste it into Photoshop you need to have PS open and an image file open or a blank canvas to paste into. The resulting image in PS will be low resolution, about 72-100 dpi.

But in my Table 3 i want to insert table1 ID and table2 ID and other info.

    Select t.id INTO t1ID from Table1 t where and trim(upper(Dname)) = trim(upper(:new.NAME))
Could you please tell me the work around how to put select into in a trigger? Any suggestions highly appreciated.

    You said
Please See below statement. This is causing the problem.
Select t.id INTO t1ID from Table1 t where and trim(upper(Dname)) = trim(upper(:new.NAME))But in your code you are using following query
Select t.id INTO t1ID from Table1 t where trim(upper(name)) = trim(upper(:new.NAME))These are 2 different queries. In first one , in where clause you are using column name as Dname and the query you are using in your trigger has column name as name in where clause.

  • Using SELECT INTO statement to transfer data from one DB to another?

    Hello,
I need to move data from an SAP table to another downstream SQL server box without flat file in between. I have set up the DBCON interface, so that my ABAP code on SAP can connect to the remote SQL Server, then I can run INSERT command as Native SQL inside the ABAP.
However, INSERT has performance problem. The best performer as I can find is SELECT INTO statement. But then I am stuck at how to use SELECT INTO to query my local SAP table and send (via INTO) to remote database. I am not even sure whether I should use Open SQL or Native SQL.
Any suggestion? BTW, I understand the limitation of Native SQL, but we are OK to use it.
    Thanks!

It appears that this is some kind of migration project due to the scope of the data contained in the single file? If so whatever you do is like ly to be trow away once the migration of data is completed.
You have a couple of options:
    1) Get the data extracted from HFM in multiple files instead of one bulk file, broken down by scanario, year & period
    2) Take the single data dump file produced by FDM and manipulate it yourself to get the data in a more usuable format for processing through FDM.
Option 2 could be achieved via any ETL tool or a custom file parsing script. What may be more attractive to you and allow you to fully leverage your investment in FDM is that you could use the PULL adapter that ships as part of the FDM adapter suite to perform this transformation exercise. The PULL adapter takes a flat file input and allows you to use all the in built functionality of FDM to transform it and output a modified flat file (or series of flat files). You could use it to produce multioload files or a series of files broken down by scenario, year, period.
Whatever you do I would suggest that break the single data file down into smaller chunks as this will help with the iterative debugging process you will inevitably have to undetake whislt migrating the data to the new application.

  • How to move a selection into another selection in elements 12

how to move a selection into another selection in elements 12

Open picture B, the one you wish to select something from to add to another picture.
Use one of the selection tools, e.g. selection brush, lasso tool, to select the object. You will see an outline ("marching ants") once the selection is complete
Go to Edit menu>copy to copy the selection to the clipboard
Open picture A, then go to Edit>paste
Use the move tool to position object from picture B.
In the layers palette you should see picture A as the background layer, and object B on a separate layer

  • How do I copy an email link and paste it into my email?

Just got a hand-me-down MacBook Pro. I need to send an email to someone who's posted an ad on Craigslist. How do I, a) copy the link for their email; and, b) paste it into the address field of my Outlook mail?
If I just click on the email link in CL, the computer wants to direct me to some default email client, which I'm not using. So I want to copy and paste the address.
    Thanks.

Care to share which OS you are using?
    From the OS Help menu:
Copy from one document to another
Open both documents, select the text, picture, or movie you want to copy, and then drag it to the other document.
If you can’t drag an item from a document window, select the item and choose Edit > Copy. Then click in the other document window and choose Edit > Paste.

  • Possible to make a guide into a mask or selection?

Is this possible? I want to use a guide made from an object, as a cookie cutter for an image that I've placed under it. thanks!

    Thanks,
This actually worked to crop the OUTSIDE of my circle, but for some reason the hole in the middle of this circle was never masked
When working with more than one guide/ path, I keep bumping into a few rules.
I think if I can get this, I'll start to understand how to separate my layers better.
"The selection cannot contain objects within different groups unless the entire group is selected."
I get this message even when I select "entire groups"
"Can't make the selection into guides. Guides cannot be created or released within the selected object types."
Well, I wasn't trying to create guide, actually. (lol)
So my real question is, where can I find an advanced tutorial that focuses specifically on layer order/simplification, as opposed to just creating some nice Illustrator image?
I seem to be inadvertently creating a surplus of extra paths and layers and groups that I don't even need, (i can prove it by throwing them out) lol!

  • How do I turn a shape layer into a mask in After Effects?

How do I turn a shape layer into a mask in After Effects?

I should also mention that if you create the shape with any of the shape tools (rectangle, Polly star, eclipse) instead of the pen tool you will have to convert the shape to a bezier path before you can copy the path and paste it to a mask. Easy to do if you have the recent version of AE, not so easy if you're using an older version.
when you have trouble figuring things out simply type something like track matte in the Search After Effects help field at the top right corner of the AE application frame. You will get these resources: http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/search/index.cfm?cat=support&term=Track%20matte&loc=en_US&sel f=1&lr=en_US&site=aftereffects…

  • How can I copy text from PDF and include the source filename in the pasted selection?

I'm a biologist and frequently cut-and-paste notes from PDFs of scientific articles.  I name all of the PDF articles with their PubMed ID, a short unique identifier (e.g. 19397482.pdf).  When I take notes, I will select a few sentences from the PDF and then paste them into a text editor for later reference.
Can anyone suggest a method or script that would allow me to paste the copied text with the Pubmed filename included in a single action?  I would want the pasted output it to look something like this, with the filename appended to the end:
Of the transcripts that were significantly different, there was a greater number of transcripts that were down-regulated in the IVC embryos (380) than the number of transcripts that were up-regulated (208).  [20668257.pdf]
This would really help me to properly cite information sources during the writing process.  I know there are bibliography managers that might be able to do something like this, but I prefer to read the PDF articles directly in Preview and select the text as I am reading.
Thanks very much for any suggestions / ideas.

To copy and paste in a single action:
    tell application "Preview" to activate
tell application "System Events" to tell process "Preview"
        -- Get the PubMed ID:
get the title of the front window
set thePubMedID to word 1 of result
-- Copy the selected text to the clipboard:
        keystroke "c" using {command down} -- ⌘C
delay 0.25 -- adjust if necessary
-- Add the PubMed ID to the contents of the clipboard:
        set theNotes to the clipboard
set the clipboard to (theNotes & space & "[" & thePubMedID & ".pdf]")
    end tell
tell application "Notational Velocity" to activate
    tell application "System Events"
-- Paste the contents of the clipboard to the end of the Notational Velocity document
key code 125 using command down -- ⌘↓
