How to pause after each chapter?

I have a 30 minute video with 12 scenes (chapters).
I would like to play each of the scenes (chapters)
with an automatic pause between each one,
and use the DVD's "PLAY" button to continue
the video after each pause.
How do I configure iDVD to pause after each chapter?
Thanks,
David

Hi
There is one major miss in all iDVD versions and this is the mirror effect of same problem.
There are no "Play all" button in iDVD
and in Your case there is no opposit either.
You'll need to put in each Chapter as an individual movie. Then You can play Chaper 1
and follow with Chapter 4 or what order and pauses You want.
Then if You want a "Play all" You just keep the full movie.
(Usually I have to recommend the building of the full movie when there are
lot's of small parts and people wan't the "Play-all" button)
You made this and have to do the parts instead.
Yes this will reduce the time/space awailably to about half.

Use Roxio Toast™ or DVD Studio Pro where this can be done without doubeling up
the material.

  • End jump after each chapter

    I have DSP 4.2.0
I want the DVD to jump back to the menu page after each chapter is finished.
Can someone direct me on how to do this? I tried under "connections" setting it up, but it didn't work.
    Gerry

First off, there are three different layouts that you can use for DVDSP. The vast majority of people use the 'Advanced' layout which gives access to all of the tools and settings. Whilst it looks daunting, I recommend you switch to it. That way, you'll be seeing it the way others see it, and the instructions will make more sense to you.
You can add commands to lots of elements in your project. If you have a single video in your timeline and have put chapter markers along it, you can set an 'end jump' on each chapter marker by simply clicking on the marker once and looking in the property inspector for the 'end jump' setting. Use this to set each to go back to the main menu when it has played through.
However, this will not be the most reliable way to get this done. It will work on some players, but users will be able to skip through the track and bypass the end jumps. You can prevent this if you want, but an easier and more robust way to achieve this is to use stories.
If you look on the top bar of the app you'll see icons that enable you to add new elements to your project. Adding a story is as simple as clicking on the story icon.
A story is a container for chapters, and works like a play list in iTunes. You can add one or more chapters to the story, but in your case you only want to add one per story. Stories are also elements in your project and they can have end jumps on them. You add a story, and then in the story tab drag a single chapter from the list of chapters into the story container. You repeat this for every story you need. Then set the end jumps for the stories - click on a story in the outline view tab or graphical view and look in the property inspector... set the end jump for each story to go back to your menu.
The buttons on the menu now need to have the story container as the target and NOT the chapter inside them. This is crucial.
If you do this correctly it will work as you want it to, with just a single chapter playing and then the disc sending the viewer back to the menu.

  • Mix Radio pauses after each Song in offline mode

    Hey everyone,
I am encountering some trouble when usign mix radio in offline mode. More precisely I have a Mix downloaded to the device. After each song, music pauses and I have to resume manually. I do not know if disabling the mobile internet connection does help, but when at home on WiFi, the problem does not occur. I.e. I have the impression that offline mix radio with mobile internet enabled has open issues. Any hints on how to resolve this?
    Felix

    Hi fresnel,
thanks for your message. I tried it once after I read your message and it worked. But then I plug in a stereo jack to listen to the music via external boxes, it pauses again after each song. However, I recognized that some other people have the same problem. I read some comments in the marketplace, referring to pausing after each song.
In addition, sometimes I have to start mix radio twice because it stop at the loading page after starting. I have to press the back button and start mix radio again in order to get it work.
I am not sure if the problem occurs only with a stereo jack plugged in or not. I can try, but I would like the program to work whether I plug in something or not.

  • DVD pauses at each chapter?

I created a Keynote presentation and exported it as an iDVD project from the export menu of Keynote. It exported into iDVD just fine and I burned the disc just fine but now when I go to play the DVD back, it pauses at the end of each chapter. I checked all the setting and I can't see where it's telling to to pause at the end of each chapter. Any ideas on how to turn this off so it won't pause?

I found the solution. Thanks for the feedback. I'm afraid this one was my own dumb settings in Keynote. Apparently when you choose to have a transition happen on a click, that will create a chapter break when you export it as a movie and pause that movie when you get to that slide.
I had two spots that it did this on. I fixed one because that one was a slide transition one but I missed the second one inside the slide. When I fixed both to happen automatically, the chapter break disappeared and the pause went away too. Now the movie is one single chapter with no pauses.
Other than that, the whole process worked flawlessly. Awesome presentation. Mark it as yet one more thing a Mac can do that a PC can't (recent switcher). I wanted to originally export a PowerPoint presentation to the DVD. It is a MAJOR amount of work using something like three or four different programs to accomplish it. Mac did it in two (both included with the system) with three clicks. Not bad...not bad at all.

  • NAL- Pause After Each App Is Delivered

Is there a way to pause/prompt after each NAL is delivered to the workstation? New to the environment and I am trying to determine exactly what NALs are being delivered during each user login. Although NALDIAG is useful it is not exactly what I want to use to identify the login NAL delivery process.
    Thanks,

  • How can I add a pause after each photo to my flash file?

How can I add a break to my sequence of photos on a flash file.
I created a flash with different photos and I want each one to stay on the stay for about a minute before moving away.
How do I do this? Please help

  • Movie stopped frequently (I assume, after each chapter)

On a Apple TV 2nd generation with latest OS 6.2.1 we had problems watching a rented movie. Although I reset our Wifi-Router and checked everything suggested for troubleshooting in the support pages (including a total restore of the device, updating to the latest OS version available), the movie stopped at about every single chapter and seemed to have issue loading the next chapter and/or recognizing me as valid user. After a dozen stops we decided to watch the rest of the movie on another device (Apple TV 3rd generation with OS 7.0.2) and had no problems viewing the movie at all.
As it still accepts movie rental I would expect, it shows the movie in one piece.
What can I do? Updating my older Apple TV beyond 6.2.1 doesn't seem to be an option?

Your experience is not that uncommon. In order for a movie to stream smoothly, and uninterrupted, a fragile and complicated network must work perfectly.
Try power cycling your router. I find that sometimes helps. (Do this when not downloading.)
Check your internet download speed, you can do this at,   www.speedtest.net.
1080p requires 8 Mbps, 720p requires a 6 Mbps, 480p requires a speed of 2.5 Mbps.  I have 85 Mbps, and do not always get smooth, uniform, playback.
But, there is good news coming!
Technology experts are working on a movie storage system where YOU have physical possession of the movie.
This system stores the movie digitally on an optical disk system that will not be dependent upon a congested, complicated, and fragile network.  Because all of the data is stored only a few feet from your television, all the bottlenecks are removed.  Performance and reliability are virtually flawless.
Further, the system will not utilize any form of security codes, authentications, or passwords. Once the optical disc is purchased it can be moved around freely at will, and can even be lent or given to friends and neighbors with zero hassles.  And if you don't like the movie, you can sell it for close to your purchase price!

  • Pause after chapter

I am trying to do the steps as discussed by "Nashed" (Feb. 2009) in regards to making the video stop after each chapter in iDVD. However, the dragging of the clips to the slideshow window is not working. Nothing happens. A red dot with the number one shows up on the clip when I drag it, but when I place it in the window it does nothing. How do I import a movie into the slideshow window in iDVD? I am using iDVD6. Still photos import fine.

I'm wondering if you add a manual slideshow in there .... (that is add your QT movie to a manual slideshow) since iDvd supposedly accepts both stills and movies for a slideshow. I can't test this at the moment because I'm on a different startup volume in which I first have to complete the work and then go back to my original HD.
    Just a thought.

  • Pause after reach VOBU inconsistent

I have a track that contains about 14 PSDs in the form of a quiz. I have tried a number of methods to get the track to pause every time a new PSD appears, but not all working.
At the moment, I have clicked 'pause after each VOBU' checkbox on the properties for the chapter1 marker. This works a treat on my MAC, both in simulation and on the burned DVD, but is not working on my PC (either through 'PowerDVD' or "VLC player'). Yet to be tested on a standalone DVD player.
I have also tried adding chapters to the beginning of every clip, but skipping through on my PC seems to skip every other marker. I've also tried separating the clips into individual tracks, but the DVD begins to get too complicated.
Should the 'pause after each VOBU' be compliant everywhere? Is there a better way?
    Thanks

In the end I managed to get it working by using very short durations on the PSDs, and on the chapter markers at the start of each PSD I set the 'wait' setting to 'infinite'. Forcing the user to either 'play' (if allowed) or skip to the next chapter without much delay (whilst it plays out the PSD).

  • Here's How to change the image on the TOC to be different for each chapter.

Suppose you don't follow the Very Strict default Rule that you use the exact same image parameters (shape, pixels, size, etc.) for your Table of Contents image entry as you use for its associated Chapter, a requirement built in to iBooks Author that applies universally to ALL Chapters under the One Image Size and Location is Best For Everyone rule. Suppose you start adding chapters and messing with each chapter's image and then, later, it occurs to you to get the TOC all set up and when you go there you encounter a mess. Either by chance one of the images you had in one of your chapters found its way to the TOC and, gosh, now every TOC entry for every chapter has the very same exact size and location image! This is not part of your grand plan and then... how to make lemonade here? It's Not Obvious.
You can resolve this in your favor. You must do this patiently.
First, whatever image size is created in any chapter TOC window—by dragging the image placeholder handle re-size box—will apply to ALL image entries (i.e., chapter image entries) in the TOC . If you want maximum flexibility make the image placeholder box big. Hint: you may need to mess with the Edit Mask option in order to get the image placeholder size box in the size and location you want. An option here in preparing your images is to **** with Photoshop or Preview to really engineer the images that will be used for the Chapter Page and, separately, the TOC / these could be the same content images but formatted differently in order to look nice in their respective locations. The Chapter Page image can be manipulated on the Chapter Page. On the other hand, the TOC image must fit within whatever (universal) size you've created.
    Plan ahead
    Get your TOC images ready.
    Loop until done:
    a) from the Finder menu, right click on the filename of the image to be put in the TOC / select the menu item “Copy”..this image. This puts the image in the clipboard. Another way to get the image in the clipboard is to pull it up with Preview and pretend to crop it (full size) then command-C. Another way: just click on it if it is in a file somewhere and again command-C.
    b) Click on the Table of Contents option (near the top of the left navigation column in ibooks Author ) and navigate to the TOC chapter for this image by clicking on the correct chapter “button” (a white dot in a black background surrounded by a white rounded-corner box) in the center bottom of the TOC chapter window;
    c) Click on the image placeholder in this chapter TOC window to reveal the highlight boxes defining the boundary of the image;
d)command-V (paste); Voila! the image is in the TOC. NOTE: dragging the image into the highlighted imagebox (see c) above) will NOT work.
    e) mess with the image by clicking the mask editor button so the image fits as desired being careful to move the image only and not resize the image box.
Go back to loop and repeat.

Finally, after a while, I finally found all the procedure explained,

  • My iBook has a blank page at the beginning of each chapter. How do I delete?

I have a blank page offset to the left at the beginning of each chapter. How do I delete them?

The first selectable template is "Basic"...  the  template - and any others have placeholder text and images excepting pages "Default" and Blank.  The "Default" page accepts flowing text. "Blank" is just that with only any BG image and page numbering decided in the template.
Nothing  you describe seems to be part of just opening a standard template.
Below are screen shots from the  book tree and  the layouts - these are the "Basic" template pages without any modifications.
Any of the pages  shown in the tree can be deleted. Chapter and Sections will also delete any pages added under them.

  • I have finally figured out how to export an iphoto album so that I can maintain the proper order of the photos after burning the file. How do I keep each individual photo title and description after exporting and burning?

I have finally figured out how to export an iphoto album so that I can maintain the proper order of the photos after burning the file. How do I keep each individual photo title and description after exporting and burning?  Presently after exporting and burning each photo is identified by the file name rather than each individual title description.

File name and Title are not the same thing.
Filename is attached to the Jpeg file in the Finder.
Title is attached to the photo within the Jpeg file - as is the description. These are written to the Exif and IPTC metadata on export.
So: File -> Export. Kind: Jpeg or Tiff and Check the box at 'Title and Keywords'. This will write the Title, keywords and descriptions (though not explicitly stated) to the metadata. This can then be viewed in any app that understand this material.
You can choose, if you wish, to also use the Title as a Filename - that's an option at File Name
