How to perform calculations on time? (e.g., time x 26.2?)

I need to do various calculations on time, such as:
(1) Marathon finish time is 3:39:00 (h:mm:ss). Divide by 26.2 to get the pace (minutes per mile).
(2) I run 0.935 miles in 6:57 (m:ss). Divide 6:57/0.935 to get the pace.
These were dead-simple in AppleWorks. My formulas were simply =A1/26.2 and =A2/0.935 respectively. But I'm having a sinking feeling that I can't do it in Numbers, at least not easily. I did find the TIMEVALUE() function, so for the first problem I can use the more cumbersome =TIMEVALUE(A2)/26.22460, but then my result is in decimal form (8.35878), and I can't find a way to get it back into time format (8:22).

The original premise of your question was incorrect. You can most definitely divide a duration by a number and avoid having to convert from a decimal back to a duration.
You may be using the wrong format for your data (what you are calling "time") and that is probably the root of the problem. Time and duration are two different things. TIMEVALUE works on the date&time data type, not durations. If TIMEVALUE is not giving you an error, your durations are not durations but are, instead, the date and time of day.
Here are two equations that work just fine in Numbers if the 3h 39m is a duration value.
3h 39m/26.2 = 0h 8m 21s 527ms (hms format)
3:39/26.2 = 0:08:21.527 (colon format)
If you want to convert a decimal value to a duration, use the DURATION function. That is not necessary for what you are trying to do but I present it because you asked. If you want to convert 3:39:00 to 8:22, make sure the 3:39:00 is a duration and not "January 25, 2010 3:39:00AM" then divide the 3:39:00 by 26.2

  • How to performing calculations at workbook level using using VB / macros et

    HI All,
I want to know about how to perform calculations at the work book level using VB/Macros..
Request provide me links related to this .
    Manyt hanks in advance.

    Hi,
Open the Excel workbook and press ALT + F11. VB editor opens and you can write your piece of code and name it as Auto_open if you need that macro to automatically run when you open excel.
Second option is record macro, which will record the calculation and then call this macro everytime you need.
    Thanks,

  • How to perform calculations using column data in BI Publisher

    Hello guys
I am very new to BIP, and recently I am learning to create new templates using XML files..
I am trying to create a report that has Account Amount, Amount Net Amount, PM_Amount and a New field say "X"
For Account Amount it is what it is, but for Net Amount it is "Account Amount/40%", for PM_Amount it is "Net Amount x (Account Amount/30)" and for field X it is "(Net Amount + PM_Amount)/column A" where column A is another data field in the XML file but it should not be included in the template report..
Could anyone help me with how to perform such kind of calculations in BIP Template builder? In OBIEE, it is very easy that I can just use column formula, but in BIP I still haven't figure out the way yet..
    PLease advice
    Thanks

    Thanks for the reply..
I looked at the link you provided already, what I wanna know is how to exactly apply the expression in my calculation. In other words, I know that Column C = "Column A div Column B", but in BIP form property, how do I actually substitue "column A" with the actual column..
I wish I could post the XML, but it is huge, it contains 6 data sets and more than 100 columns. I only need 15 columns on my template.
On the form property of each measures, in the "advance tab", I see codes like <?accountamount?>. Now I wanna have a new column said "PM_Amt" which should be "(accountamount div %40) x column B". So I just randomly select another column said "payment". I rename it to "PM_AMT" and on its "advanced tab" it is still <?payment?>. So right there, if I wanna replace that code with a new one that does "(accountamount div %40) x column B" calculation, how would I do it? What would be the syntax including how to propertly refer to the right column field as part of the expression?
And do I have to always use xdofx between <>? how would I know?
Please advice if you understood what I am trying to say
    Much thanks

  • How to do calculation on time value?

I have "Duration" as a column in a source excel file which contain data like 00:00:06,00:01:10  when i connect this excel to lumira i am getting the column data as [$-5400]12:00:06\AM
please specify how to perform certain calculation on time value like sum or avg.

I'm struggling to think of examples of this kind of data 00:00:06,00:01:10
so i suspect this formatting will be troublesome..if Lumira can't handle this using advanced acquisition properties, then it might be an idea to split it before coming into lumira .

  • How to get the value from textInput Component to perform calculation?

I need some help here...I'm trying to get the value of user input from the TextInput Component which is the age, height and weight to calculate the bmr and display the result in member("result").text.
How am i suppose to let the integer pass through in order for me to perform calculation? Would appreciate if anyone can help me out with this, thanks!
    Below are the formula :
The Harris Benedict equation estimates BMR:
    For women: (9.56 x w) + (1.85 x h) – (4.68 x a) + 655
    For men: (13.75 x w) + (5 x h) – (6.76 x a) + 66

Assumed that this section is only for male ...it still show error saying script error : String expected for
    on mouseDown
       member("result").text = (13.75 * value(member("weightText").text)) + (5 * value(member("heightText").text)) - (6.76 * value(member("ageText").text)) + 66
    end
Do i have to add in "put sprite(x).text -- where x is the number of the sprite that is the text input." ?

One possible solution would be to organise your inbox into folders.
Its never relly good on any system to have one folder that has everything in it.
Try going to you web gui for that mail account and organise your folders and move mails from your inbox into corresponding folders for better organisation.
Several folders containing the same amount of one folder will usually load a little quicker as the folder may not be accessed to download its content unless veiwed.
So having 10 folders with organised content, and you inbox as an area thats to hold only new emails would work much much quicker with imap.
Most imap servers will only update the contents of a folder when its veiwed.

  • How Gap Performance is calculated?

    Hi Guys,
I´m working with SSM 7.5 (SP 10) under NetWeaver 7.2 (SQL Server database).
I have the follow values for my KPI:
    Name: Revenue
    Actual: 415.281,13
    Target: 511.318,09
    Score: 81,22
    Gap Performance: 40,72
    Stable Gap Performance Range
    Score History:
    AprJun 2005: 67,26 (Trend Down)
    JulSep 2005:  76,15 (Trend Down)
    OctDec 2005: 81,22 (Trend Up)
I need know, how these values resulted in 40,72 (Gap Performance). How this is calculated?
Ps: I´ve already read some explanations into the SDN forum but still not understanding.
    Best Regards,
    Bruno Heissler

I have kept this explanation provided by Colin Cooper hope it helps - I am not a mathematician but I kind of get what it is thinking of although the challenge is to try and explain this in easy terms to our user community in terms that they can understand easily.
I think colins last sentence is the thing I will hang onto into trying to explain it.
Gap Performance is something that is often confusing!
Gap performance is trend deviation and is a virtual metric. It is based on the comparison between the Score and the Trend of the score and the calculation is ((Score - Trend of Score) % Trend of Score)
It takes the average of the last three Scores and compares them with the current score.
    As an example:
if the scores for the last 3 periods are 45.37, 45.37 and 52 the average is 47.58
so the calculation of Gap Performance would be (52-47.58)/47.58100 = 4.42/47.58100 = 9.28
Therefore the higher the Gap Performance the better the the level of improvement.

In an this post I will describe how to perform a classic Mac OS search and give example results. You may perform the search with or without the spotlight database. This search falls under the smart folder implementation introduced with Tiger. I have done all my testing with Mac OS 10.4.11. I assume this will work with any version of Tiger or Leopard.
The results will be slightly different with a spotlight database on the partition and without a database on the partition. With a database, you will not see Unix hidden files. You may be able to use all of the spotlight special find features. I did not test much with the spotlight special fields. Without a database, using the special features nulls out the search and the "Search for" field seems to give the same result as using the name field.
This search technique was obscured by all the hoopla over spotlight. Authors of Tiger books avoided mentioning the Classic search interface. When I looked in Leopard books I noticed some authors put back information on the Classic search interface.

There are some downsides. Initially, the search will find both visible and invisible Mac OS files. However, the search seems to get confused between visible and invisible files when you select the visibility option. It seems to get the visible correct when you use visible but when you add invisible things get confused. Sometimes it will find invisible files and sometimes it won't. I used both the Unix invisible files and the Mac OS X visiblity attribute.
In putting the same search in the upper right-hand-corner spotlight search and in the Search for field, I did not get the same results. The spotlight search returned a 182 items while the with Search for field returned 179 items. The Search for field seemed to miss items in the mail boxes. With the Search for search you could display spotlight results in the classic format.
I did a successful search on my fat32 flash drive.
Perform the Classic Mac OS search without the spotlight database.
If you turn off spotlight indexing on a volume and delete the spotlight index, then Mac OS Tiger reverts to the prior Mac OS search facility. In the preferences for spotlight, you let searching continued on the partition.
    Here is what I did:
    I installed the spotless application.
    http://www.fixamac.net/software/spot/
I use spotless to configure spotlight. Click on disabled indexing then click on delete index files.
Spotless creates the .Spotlight-V100 directory with the _IndexPolicy.plist and _rules.plist to prevent indexing on the partition.
I performed the search for files containing "bash-" in the name field.

Does not search in Unix hidden folders. That is folders beginning with a period (.) .

Spotless creates the .Spotlight-V100 directory with the _IndexPolicy.plist and _rules.plist to prevent indexing on the partition.
I performed the search for files containing "bash-" in the name field.
This is the result of the search without the Spotlight databases:
    bash-backup-inside-bash-copy.html
    bash-backup.html
    bash-batChmod.html
    bash-battery_yellow_4k.html    {labeled with the Yellow attribute}
    bash-copy    {folder}
    bash-folder__green    {folder and labeled with the Green attribute}
    ping_command-bash-copy.html
    Limitations:
Does not search in Unix hidden folders. That is folders beginning with a period (.) .
Sometimes will find files beginning with a period (.).
Does not find Mac OS invisible files.
Using the special features nulls out the search.
The Search for field seems to give the same result as using the name field.

    Hi,
Are you using the standard programm and print form or are you using your own?. Most of the printing issues happens because of own programms. Try with the standard and then you will be able to see why is this happening.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless A909g, CB023A, how to perform full-reset

I own this printer since December 2009, during the first 15 months I had several problems/defects and also repairs and excange units. The problems continue on and in September 2011, in October 2011 and in November 2011 I got excange devices after repair attempts (one device was delivered without any function). The last device worked with one (?) (minor resp. accepted) problem until today resp. June 2014. ...this is the previous history ---> ---> I need sequence to perform full-reset on HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless A909g ---> Please send procedure/sequence how to perform a full-reset on this printer - not hard reset nor semi-reset: full-reset !!! Please send this information without unnecessary questions about my problems: My only problem is to own such printer!

    Hello AlexBW,
I received your private message and I thank you for writing me back.
One other step that I think may assist us would be to please make sure that you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a power bar/strip. Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer as an example but it is meant for HP products in general. Please click on the following link that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.
Once you have the unit connected directly to a wall outlet, follow the instructions that  I provided in the private message.
If the troubleshooting does not help resolve your issue, I would then suggest calling HP's Technical Support to see about further options for you. If you are calling within North America, the number is 1-800-474-6836 and for all other regions, click here: click here.
Thank you once again for your time.  It has been a pleasure working with you.
Click the “Kudos Thumbs Up" at the bottom of this post to say “Thanks” for helping!
Please click “Accept as Solution ” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.

  • Need to perform calculations on a specific characteristic in a BeX query

    Hi,
I have a requirement to perform calculations based on Characters.
The data that is currently displayed in the report.
       Date              User               Activity                A        B
    04/24/2014       BR3TXA         PTWY                 10        12
    04/24/2014       BR3TXA         CLX1                  25        04
    04/24/2014       YEXM035       NOWE               14        15
    04/24/2014       YAXP134        DONQ                08       05
    04/24/2014       YRST112        PTWY                12       05
If Activity is PTWY, then A should be A * B = A. For the rest of the activity type, the value in A should be the same.
The result should display as Below:
      Date                  User               Activity                A        B
    04/24/2014       BR3TXA         PTWY                 120     12
    04/24/2014       BR3TXA         CLX1                  25        04
    04/24/2014       YEXM035       NOWE               14        15
    04/24/2014       YAXP134        DONQ                08       05
    04/24/2014       YRST112        PTWY                60       05
Is there a way out in IF, THEN, ELSE statements. Or Customer Exit variable with Code in CMOD would work?

This can be achieved just with the help of two simple selections or RKF.
Restrict the KF A with the activity = PTWY--Lets call this RKF1..Now this will populate value against PWTY only.
Create another Restricted KF--with A--This time Exclude value = PWTY--This will populate values against activity other than PWTY...Lets name it RKF2.
    Now create a new formula say F1 = (RKF1*B)--Multiply RKF1 with B keyfigure.
Now the final formula say F2 = (F1+RKF2)--This will give the desired result.
    Hide the other objects.

  • How to Perform a "Clean Install" - Offline installer link not working...

The thread containing - "How to Perform a Clean Install of Flash Player in Mac OS X" -  was an answer given by Mike M. several times in this forum. I attempted to access the "offline installer" link that was offered, but it does not seem to be working. Does anyone have an updated link to a functional offline installer that I can use to finally download Flash Player for Mac OS X v. 10.9.5?
I receive an error message stating "Error: Unable to proceed with the installation."
Many of the photography and game websites I use (almost all, actually) FP, and I would really love to get back to my daily routine soon!
    Best Regards,
    Mel R.

    Hi Mel,
The correct link is posted at the bottom of the Installation problems | Flash Player | Mac page, in the 'Still having problems section'. The download links recently changed and it appears the FAQ was not updated.  I have updated the with the help page URL as it's less likely that this link will change, and if it does, a re-direct to the new location would be implemented.

  • Calculating fractions of hours from time date range

    Hello friends,
I'm using sql server 2008 r2 and I have a table called attendance with the following fields
    attendance_no    int
    attendance_date    date
    attendance_timein    time(7)
    attendance_timeout    time(7)
    emp_id    int
and another table called employee with the following fields
    emp_id int
    emp_name  varchar(50)
    emp_tel  varchar(50)
I need to calculate the total minutes worked as well as total hours worked for each employee with in a specified date range and I created the below query which working fine but it is not calculating the  fractions of hours, I mean when an employee works
for example 7 and half hours, its showing just 7 hours instead of 7.5 hours.
    SELECT a.attendance_date As 'Date',e.emp_id As 'ID',e.emp_name As 'Name',e.emp_tel As 'Telephone',left(a.attendance_timein,8)[Time in],left(a.attendance_timeout,8)[Time out],
       + CAST(DATEDIFF(second, attendance_timein, attendance_timeout) / 60 AS NVARCHAR(50)) As 'Total minutes',
       CAST(DATEDIFF(second,attendance_timein,attendance_timeout) / 60 /60 % 60 AS NVARCHAR(50)) As 'Total hours'
        from attendance a join employee e on e.emp_id=a.emp_id and a.attendance_date between '2014-11-06' and '2014-11-08'  and e.emp_tel='65098009'
I would appreciate any help about this.
    Thanks in advance
    Mohamoud

If I understand correctly, according to
Mohamoud's data sample, there is already Total minutes in the input (the above
    table Mohamoud posted)
and all he need is a simple convert to decimal and the divided by 60.
    select [Total minutes] / 60.c
    Mohamoud,
    is that correct?
The result show that you might need some rounding. for example 31/60 is 0.516666 while you show us 0.5
Please clarify if you need rounding and how many characters after the dot you need (this can be done using declaring decimal(x,y), converting, or multipla and using floor function, etc')
