How to permanently Delete SMS Messages?

So, I have an Iphone and I just recently discovered that old SMS messages even after I sync the phone with my Mac, are showing up in my spotlight search. I do not like this for very good reasons. I was wanting to know if there was anyway to permanently delete these messages to keep them from coming back?

Reboot the phone and it will disappear
press and hold sleep/wake button and home button until the screen turns off and reboots

Do you have a back of the Q5 made from before the deletion of the messages?
    If so, restore the backup.
    If not, they are gone.

If you did not sync after that, restore from your last backup. More about the content of a backup here:

how to recover the deleted SMS message, Contacts, CallHistory and Photos from ipad.

If you did the backup of your data before deleting then you can easily get back the data by the following steps:
    1. First don’t connect your iPad directly to computer because the iTunes only saves the most recent backup
    2. Now make sure that you have a valid backup as listed iTunes> preferences> devices
    3. Before connecting your iPad make sure to check iTunes>preferences> devices "prevent iPad from syncing automatically." Because this will ensures we don't erase the previously stored backup. Then select ok and close the window after checking " don't sync"
    4. Now connect your iPad to your computer .
    5. Select the iPad as seen in the left bar of iTunes, as listed under the devices .
    6. Select version and click on restore from options.
    7. It takes a while to for iPad to erase itself, reset and restart.
    8. After the iPad is restart you will see Set Up Your iPad in iTunes on your computer, and now just click the restore from the backup and click continue. It will take 10 to 12 minutes to recover your data from iPad, including the deleted sms, notes, photos, music, contacts etc.

  • Mass Delete SMS Messages in iOS4

I am a sysadmin and I get TONS of SMS messages and I need to purge them on a regular basis to keep sane.
In the past, I had been using PhoneView to mass delete SMS messages from my iPhone, but Apple has apparently changed how the SMS messages are managed and PhoneView has permanently discontinued this functionality.
Is anyone aware of any products or methods for mass deleting SMS messages in iOS4?

Same problem here. I have over 1000 msgs that need deleting. Been waiting years for this "obvious" feature. I can't believe they didn't fix this in iOS4. So, love to hear if there's an app for that.

  • How can I delete text messages from my iphone?

    Hello everyone,
How can I delete text messages from my iphone?  I do not want to reset my iphone setting. If it is nesscary to reset my iphone setting, will I lose everything?
    Please let me know,
    Thanks,

Just delete them. Or, do you mean beyond just deleting them? Then, you'd need to wipe the phone - select Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings. That's a secure wipe of the iPhone contents, takes several hours (connect to AC power). You'll need to set your phone up from scratch (and erase the old backup(s) from your computer, since your SMS history is part of the backup).

  • HT4528 How do you delete 'SAVED MESSAGES' on iPhone 5s

How do you delete 'SAVED MESSAGES' on iPhone 5s?  It's taking up about 10GB of 32 GB capacity.

After much searching on the web and reading many (sometimes amusing) posts on this topic here is what I have found.
In Settings>General>Usage my saved mesages were using 3.2Gb and no apparently immediate way of deleting them.
However as the good book says "seek and ye shall find".
SO this is where I went:
Settings>iCloud>Account> then scroll down to ADVANCED and select Mail; again scroll down to the bottom and select Advanced and yet again scroll to the bottom (well at least to DELETED MESSAGES) and tap on the line called Remove.
Here at last you will find a setting that enables you to select the period after which iOS will remove your deleted messages.
The shortest period is one day so you will haev to wait 24 hours to finally have that memory back but it should work and is a nice feature in iOS although it is well burried!!

  • HT1495 How do I stop SMS messages being shared between multiple iphones on my itunes account? One is my wife's, one is mine and we do not want each others messages appearing on the other.

How do I stop SMS messages appearing on two devices on my iTunes account?
One phone is mine, one is my wife's and we dont want messages being shared.
We do have contacts and music etc shared.

If your are recieving mixed information on your phone on multiple devices this is going to be related to iMessage.
On your phone navagate to settings > messages > send and receive.
Check the information in that section make sure it relates to your AppleID and your phone.  If you share a AppleID with the individual create a new AppleID for their device and insert that information.
If the numbers don't remove turn of iMessage restart your phone and turn it back it.
If all else fails disable iMessage otherwise turning it off is the quickest fix.

  • How to permanently disable this message: "Press Esc to exit full screen." (by Adobe Flash Player) in Mac's Safari Browser?

    Hello everyone,
I have been searching for sometime (without any success) for a solution to permanently remove this annoying message: "Press Esc to exit full screen."
Whenever I go to full screen mode, watching any video on YouTube, BBC, CNN (or many other websites which use Adobe Flash Player for streaming video) I have to bare seeing this message for several seconds until it fades away. Seeing this message once or twice would have been okay, but as we all watch many videos on a daily basis on internet, after weeks, months and now years seeing this message over and over again many times every day, it becomes very annoying, and I find myself rewinding many videos to their beginning after this message fades away to be able to watch it from the beginning without anything obstructing it!
Does anyone know how to "permanently" disable this message from appearing?
I am using the latest version of Safari 6.0 on the latest version of OS X (Mountain Lion 10.8.1), and have the latest version of Adobe Flash Player (Plug-in version 11.4.402.265) installed on my new MacBook Pro 15" with Retina Display.
    Thanks,
    Ally

    Thanks Carolyn,
I am attaching a screenshot here for you to see that this setting was already set to what you suggested. I didn't need to change it as it was like this even before I post this message.
So the problem still presists and unfortunately your suggestion is not a solution to this probelm.
Last night I did more reseach and found a discussion in Adobe website, it seems a lot of other people have the same issue, and even started a discussion in Adobe website about it. But unfortunately Adobe refuses to address it and enable the end user at least to have an option to turn this message off from displaying permanently on his/her computer.
I am writing down the url links for the two posts regarding this issue on Adobe's website:
    Link #1: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/921270
    Link #2: https://bugbase.adobe.com/index.cfm?event=bug&id=3058752
Hopefully more people will get involved and ultimately we will either get Adobe's attention, or someone will find a "hack" and post it here for all of us. I have found some suggested "hacks" for Windows environment (you can simply google it, I am sure you will find them too). But so far I haven't seen anything for Mac's Safari browser.
    Cheers,

  • How to permanently delete an audio track on my iPhone 4?

    Hi all,
First off, a little background: my ISP is French Free, and they have this very cozy feature that lets you know via email when someone leaves a message on your home line voicemail; that way, you get your voicemail anytime you want, not just when you come back home. You can even get it on the road, since the voicemail messages are attached to the email Free sends you as a notification.
Here's where my problem lies: recently, my mother-in-law called us at home (don't they all...?) and left a message, since we weren't home. I got the notification email on my iPhone, and listened to the voicemail from where I was. Alas, now, this message is in my iTunes library, and will play just like any other song that's there... Imagine: you're sitting on the train, listening to music in random mode, and somewhere between an AC-DC track and The Ramones' "What I like about you" (only it's Lillix version), you hear your in-law cursing you for not being home when she calls...
Took me all of ten minutes to get my heart beat back to normal! So, in a nutshell, how can I delete those messages? I've tried through iTunes, but I must have missed something.
    Message was edited by: OneCatFamily

Found it myself, on iTunes: I just had to select the tracks in question in my music list and delete them, then synchronize again... Sorry to be such a noob...

  • How do I delete all messages at once on my iPad

How do I delete all messages at once on my ipad?

iOS 7 does not give you a way to delete all your text messages at once.
While you can delete multiple messages within a conversation thread (tap and hold a message bubble, then click more; you'll see it), there's no way to delete more than one conversation thread at once. You have to slide each thread and then tap delete.

  • HT5544 How to permanently delete unwanted books on iBooks?

How to permanently delete unwanted books on iBooks?

Well, it is possible to delete it permanently.
At first I should notice the problem is that, when you delete a book from ibook in mac the notification which comes up tells that the book would remain in icloud so you have to delete it from icloud.
To do this, open itunes, click on itunes store link on top right, now your your apple id should be show up on top left side, now click on books link next to app store on top, this full page is apple bookstore, on the right bar under "books quick links" you would see "purchased", click on it.
THESE ARE ALL THE BOOKS YOU HAVE BOUGHT. IF YOU SLIDE OVER EACH OF THEM YOU WOULD SEE A "X" SIGN ON TOP LEFT SIDE OF EACH COVER CLICK ON IT, BY DOING SO YOU WOULD DELETE THE BOOK FOREVER FROM ICLOUD IN YOUR APPLE ACCOUNT.
BY NOW IF YOU DELETE THE BOOK FROM YOUR IBOOKS APP IN YOUR MAC, IT WOULDN'T TELL YOU THAT IT WOULD BE STORED IN ICLOUD.
YOU'VE DELETED THE BOOK FROM YOUR MAC AND YOUR ICLOUD APPLE ACCOUNT. AND YOU WOULDN'T SEE IT ANYMORE.
    YOUR DONE.
    HAVE FUN.
