How to permanently print in grayscale?

I would like to save on ink and permanently print in grayscale, but it seems there is no option to do this.
i have to tick grayscale printing every time and it becomes quite annoying.
is there a way to set up the printer to just print in grayscale? i can't seem to find a menu anywhere to do this. the printing preference in system preferences also does not have an option for this.

Hello RUnited,
Pretend to print a page (open the printer dialog by pressing Command + P)---> make all the nessory settings such as grayscale, paper size, etc. ---> click the "presets" drop down and it will have "Save as..." ---> name your perset, and your done!
Hope this helps!

  • How do I change my default printer to print in grayscale?

How do I change my default printer to print in grayscale using a MacBook Air?  I have gone to "system preferences" and "printers & scanners."  However, there is absolutely no option to change the print color scale.  I see that option when I go to a document & print, but I don't want to go through the hassle of changing to "gray scale" every time I print.  Thanks so much in advance!!

  • Photosmart C5180: How do you print coupons in black ink only?

I have a Photosmart C5180.  When printing coupons from the web, I don't get the print dialog box...it just goes straight to printing.  I do not want to print them in color, but the default, preference, setting, whatever is set such that I am printing in color.  I want to know how to alter this so that I do not waste color ink.  Any ideas?

You need to change the printing preferences. The easy way, when you press 'print',  in the dialog box that pops up,  press the preferences bottom,  and select print in 'grayscale' in the color tab.
This will work only with this one printing, for a permanent fix, you must change the 'printing preferences' in the printer's properties. You  can get  there from the Control Panel>Printer & Faxes>Right click on your printer name>preferences.

  • How can I print my A4 Book now in 8"x10.5"? RESIZE?

    Hello
I have a book about 700 Pages already been printed a couple of times in A4 size,
Now the sponsor can only print it in max 8"x10.5"
This means the entire Book/file needs to be adjusted to this new size  in order to get it printed.
I need to know what is the best option to do this.
Can this be automadet in Indesign or trough the export via printing?
I am very thankful for any help and advice.

I appologize this Forum is confusing to me.
I posted a new question in a new thread.
I am working on a book in Indesign.I have 740 pages in total. I have black and white and color pages meaning Images.I converted the black and white images in Photoshop to Grayscale files, before I imported the imges into in design. As
to reduce printing costs my printer asked me to make sure these single
pages are safed as either color or black and white pages,so the printer will recognice those pages and will print those according to their color/ black and white profile of the images.I thought this will happen automatically since my photos, digital images are either in color or grayscale.Apperently this did not happen. My printer just told me all pages are having color profiles. So I wonder is there a way in Indesign to give single seperate pages of my bookdifferent
color or b/w profiles? so the printer who will recieve a PDF from me
does prints bacl and white in a black and white modus.

Rather than ask you for more details here, I'm going to suggest that this is so far from related to the original question that you should start a new thread. tellus exactly what you mean by "single color pages," whether you mean convert for final output and wish to leave the color intact in the document during editing or for multipurposing, the version of ID, etc.

  • How can I print without color?

How can I print without my color cartridge in my printer, I have a HP Deskjet 3510. I cant find only print in black in white in the setting on my printer.

    Hi,
Actually we call it as Grayscale. But Grayscale is a mixture of all colors. If you only wish to print Black & White only, you need to set "Black Ink only" as default. Please try:
The setup may vary from printer to printer but basically (for Windows):
    (a) Double click printer icon on desktop,
    (b) Click Set Preferences,
    (c) Click Advanced,
    (d) Select "Black Ink only" for Print in Grayscale
    (e) Click Ok/Apply ...
    Regards.

  • Officejet 6100 - H611a Will not print in grayscale when color cartridge is depleted.

The title says it all. - Windows 7 64-bit
Officejet 6100 - H611a Will not print in grayscale when color cartridge is depleted!
Even though the documentation that came with the printer says it will.  After 2+ hours on the phone with HP support over the course of 2 days, I have been informed that printer WILL NOT print in black ink only if a color cartridge is empty.
I thought anyone who purchases this model should know the documents included lie.
From page 31 of the Officejet 6100 user manual:  "If a color cartridge is depleted, the printer will print in grayscale using the black cartridge."  LIES!
The HP Help Programs says the same thing.
I have hard-reset the printer, removed and reinserted all the cartridges, set the options to "black ink only," Nothing worked.  3 HP reps all said the same thing, "You have to get a new magenta cartridge."
Will be retuning for a refund as I purchased this model SPECIFICALLY because the manual said it would print the grayscale without color ink present.
Have had 4 HP printers over the years, never even considered buying anything except HP.  This will be my last HP printer.  Extremely disappointed by HP's deception.

Sorry the printer did not perform as expected.  I have escalated this in an effort to get this to the right people.

  • HP 8500 All-in-one printer - how can I print in black and white only (to save color ink)?

I want to be able to select the option of printing in black and white only to save color ink.  How can I do that?

What operating system? You can generally find an option for "Print in grayscale" and "Black ink only" in the Color or Advanced tab of the Printer Settings.
Some color ink will still be used to keep the printheads from clogging, see here for information.  (The Officejet 8500 is an IIC printer in the vocabulary of that page.)

On the printer driver documentation, Page 5, in the Imaging setting, although the options are not specifically shown, there should be an option on that screen of the print driver to click and select "B/W" or 'black and white' or 'grayscale' or 'monochrome' as Print Mode rather than the "Full Color" option shown in the illustration below.
You access these settings once you have selected 'Print' from an app.
If necessary, you might need to click on the 'Down arrow' button next to the printer name (OS X 10.6), or 'Show Details' button at the bottom of the print dialog box (OS X 10.8) to see additional settings.

  • Printing in grayscale

How does one make printing in GRAYSCALE the default setting. It's a pain having to do change to this setting every time I want to print something.

Set the printer preferences to what you want. Click on the presets popup menu and select Save As and give it a name. Each time you print you'll have to select this preset but at least it is a quick selection rather than several clicks.
