  • How to play .avi-files in QT?

    Hi
I just had to reinstall my OS 'cause my MacBook was behaving really badly.
I used to be able to play .avi-files in Quicktime (I must have had the right codecs/plug ins?), but now I'm not anymore. I have the latest version of QT and have just downloaded new DivX codecs (from a link on apple.com). So now I have a new DivX-player. But what do I have to do to make the .avi-files play in QT?
And also, how do I play wma-files in QT?
    Thank you

  • How to play .MOD files on mac

    hi all,
I need to play some .MOD files (video) on my mac. Window media player 10 and 11 play the files but mac only has media player 9 - is there any other way i can get these .MOD files to play?

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MOD_(file_format)
"It appears that you can just rename the MOD file extension to MPG as it appears to be a standard MPEG-2 file. Then the file is compatible with players and other software tools that can read Dolby AC-3 Surround Stereo encoding."
Otherwise download and use VLC. If that can't open them, then you'll probably have to resave them on the PC to a different file format:

  • How to play avi files in quicktime

I am transferring all my files to my mac from pc. How do I enable quicktime 7 pro to play my avi files???

As you are not only switching from pc to mac, but also intel, a couple of suggestions from one intel mac user to another:
    1) Download the DivX for intel beta here:
    http://labs.divx.com/node/76
Installing should allow your QT player to function well with most codecs that you commonly find which use the .avi container - it's helped me quite a bit.
    2) Download and install the Flip4Mac component for Quicktime here:
    http://www.flip4mac.com/wmv.htm
This is an alternative for those pesky WMV files you need to play. Keep in mind that although the component installs and works on your intel mac, it is not yet optimized, so you need to run QT under rosetta in order to see the functionality of the flip4mac component. The intel mac version is on the horizon, hopefully sooner rather than later.
    3) Download iSquint or likewise another conversion app. I'm offering up iSquint for now since it is free, easy and universal. You might opt for ffmpegX, MPEG Streamclip or others, but these do not run natively on your machine at this time, and you might find them a little confusing. iSquint will read pretty much any kind of codec and container combo, and it does quick conversions to mp4/H.264 files that your QT Player will recognize...

    4) Download and install the latest build of VLC for intel mac:
    http://nightlies.videolan.org/build/macosx-intel/
The latest build of this player has been rocking along nicely for me on the intel machine, and VLC is a great alternative for those video files you come across that just don't want to play in other video apps.

  • How to play .vob files on Mac or Convert them?

    Hello,
I'm a big Mac convert and I can do 99% of what I need w/o Windows.
However, I have a lot of movies that are on my windows machine which are back-ups and I want to read them or convert them on a Mac so I do not have to painstakenly redo them. They are images (.VOB) files.
    Any ideas?

For the record, VOB files are not images, they are just multiplexed video/audio/subtitle streams. MPlayer and VLC should both have no trouble playing them. If they're in a VIDEO_TS folder, DVD Player will play them (File->Open DVD Media).

If you have a Mac, you can download Flip4Mac which will allow Quicktime Player to play them. Then you can do a "save as" and save them as a mov file. If you import the saved file into iTunes (under movies) and the Apple TV still doesn't see it, you can right-click it and size for ATV, iPad, etc.
If you have a PC, maybe Quicktime will play and convert, don't know for sure.

  • How to play asf files on Mac OS X 10.9.1

VLC player gives me the audio but no video.
It pops up this error message when i paly .asf  fles "VLC player doestnot support audio or video form G2M3",Unfortunately there is no way for you to fix it".
These are some recorded class sessions in asf format, which I need to go through and learn.
Also, tried few asf converters but most of them won't allow large files. Most of my files are 100MB and more.

  • How to play .AVI files in Quicktime Player 7.6.4

Quicktime Player 7.6.4 will not playback my .AVI movies that I recorded with my Polaroid DVG-1080p digital video camera. I have videos that are 1080p and 720p (H264).
I wish I knew enough about the formatting to troubleshoot, but I thought I would seek advice from the experts.
    Any suggestions?

I don't think that QuickTime natively recognizes H.264 content in an AVI wrapper. You might try installing Perian and see if that helps.
