How to play .mp4 on Safari (iOS 5)?

I'm trying to play an mp4 movie embedded at a website via safari and it doesn't work. I've already tried to find the Plug-ins option at Settings but it seems no longer exists.
Thanks!

    if it is only happening with server side videos it can be a cross-domain policy issue, you can take alook  here for more information;

  • How to play mp4 format video on ipad 3

I have video file in .wmv format which i convert in mp4 format but still it not supported by ipad & how can add this file on ipad

WMV, or Windows Media Video, is a compressed video file format developed by Microsoft. The most important aspect of a WMV file is that its format allows large video files to be compressed while retaining their high quality. They may be of any size and may be compressed to match any bandwidth (connection speed). Therefore WMV video becomes very popular among video lovers to save media data. However, the format is not as popular on devices like iPad 4 as it's said to be. So if you have a lot of WMV files and want to play the files in WMV on iPad 4 (iPad 3 included), you need to convert WMV to iPad 4 compatible file format first.
According to iPad 4 tech spec info on apple office site, we can acknowledge that iPad 3 only read video in MOV, MP4 and M4V. Therefore WMV has to be converted to iPad 4 MP4 or other format for the playback. To get a satisfying result, for instance, loss-less video quality, quick conversion, simple converting process, you'd better ask a professional tool for help.
Google search one m4v software, convert WMV to m4v for you ipad. • How to play mp4 audio files as video on my iPod Touch?

I know you are all thinking that this is a stupid question based on the topic, but I have videos for some reason that are in the form of mp4 audio, but they are video when I play them on my computer. I can open these videos (mp4 audio instead of mp4 video) using Windows Media Player and it's not just audio, there is also video. However, whenever I try to sync it to my iPod, it shows up in my music section instead of videos. If i play the video under music, all I see is the white iTunes background, no video. Is there anyway for me to set these files to be recognized as video and store it under my movies category?
    Thanks.

First, go into Get Info and change the Media Kind on the Options tab to tell iTunes that this is a video. Next, you need to sync this item from the Video tab on your iPod detail in iTunes (i.e. don't sync it as if it was a Music item). If you sync all video content then this will happen automatically once you change the Media Kind. But if you only sync part of your video library, make sure you include this video in the sync selection.
If you still have problems, you may need to convert the video for iPod playback, even if it plays fine in iTunes. If that's the case, right-click on the video and you'll see an option to convert for iPod use, which will make a copy (so make sure you know which version to sync to the iPod, or simply delete the original).

When i click om the WMV video in the library, it start to play ok. And I can put the video in a published page and it works ok.
But if I click on one of the MP4 video, I got the error message "Media failed to load. This file is in a format that is not recognized". What do I have to do to make it work? (If I try to start the MP4 video from my computer it works ok)

    Hi Ona-M,
Did all MP4 videos occur this issue?
Please install the Silverlight on your computer, check if the MP4 videos could be played.

  • How to play mp4 files on ipad2

I imported photos and videos from Sony digital camera to ipad2, I opened the photos but couldn't open the video, it's mp4 files, how can I open and watch on ipad2?

The only way to get content into the Music app is via iTunes store downloads or syncing with itunes on a computer. You will need to find a third party media player such as VLC (whick integrates with DropBox and GoogleDrive, if that appeals to you).

  • How do I play MP4 on vbulletin board?

I have a website but I have no idead how to play mp4 using flash player.
Can someone help me out on this?
    http://www.twbbs.us/

Well, you can't play MP4s on a player that only handles MP3s, so you'll have to get your tracks into MP3 format. First, to go the iTunes Importing preference and set it to MP3 rather than AAC (which is the default). Then all CDs you import will be MP3. If you don't have that many CDs that you've already imported, I'd suggest that you delete any that came in as AAC and reimport; you'll get better quality that way. But if you have a lot, you can select the AAC tracks and use the Convert command to create duplicates as MP3. If you right-click on any header and select the Kind column, you'll be able to easily see which ones are AAC and convert them, and then if you wish delete the AAC copies afterwards.
Note that this will not apply to any tracks you buy, or have bought, from the iTunes Store. Those are only available as copy-protected AAC and cannot be converted to another format other than burning to audio CD.

  • How to read mp4 video

    Hello
I am start working with Labview 8.20 to do a project which have to contain some videos. I already have searched in this forum some information/code examples how to play mp4 videos (or other well-know formats like avi, mpeg...), but I didn't find nothing that I think it would help me.
Could someone give me some help or example codes that I can use?
    Thanks
    Daniela

    Hi!
I've been awhile without working with LabView, but I've seen the link provided and found then a page that I thought it was what I was looking for. ..
However, I copied this code (which can be seen in annex) and place a sample video, but not getting results. Could be by incompatible versions of LabView? I'm using version 8.20.
I apologize if my question is basic, but as I had said, I started working with these types of programs recently and so I don't know much about it!
    Thanks
    Daniela

  • How to play video on iOS mini browser?

    Hi!
We are trying to play video (mp4 /webm) in iOS mini safari browser (aka pseudo browser) which comes up when iOS detects that there's no internet connection and there's a captive portal involved.
We have tried a number of things like various types of video codecs, video streaming methods, etc. But the video doesn't play. All the HTML5 components load properly, the Play butting shows up. But when we click not he Play button the video doesn't start.
Here are the various apple devices we tested:
    IOS 8.1.3  iPhone6 ------ Video was playing.
IOS 8.1.3  iPhone5 ----  Video was not playing.
IOS 8.1.3  iPad mini ----- player loads, play button was there but video was not playing.
IOS 8.1.2  iPad  ------- Video was not playing, but able to click on play Button, count down timer was decreasing
Out captive portal page is HTTPS.
Any insights in to how we can resolve the issue will be helpful.
    Thanks!

I have tried an app named VLC streamer. But I never knew how to use it...
    Can someone suggest anything else?

Under "General" in iTunes Preferences, does "Play
Videos in.." allow you to set the playback of videos
    as you desire?
kind of. It does spawn a new window, which is great (thanks!). But it seems to be at a lower resolution - does iTunes compress further or display at lower res? What is the function that people are supposed to be able to use to use iTunes as a media center to watch movies?

  • Safari will not play .mp4 movies

I upload a .mp4 movie to my server and Safari cannot play it. It displays a mass of numbers and such.
I found an article online that says to add a .htaccess file to my server at the, infamous, "root level"... what's this guy smokin'??? Could this possibly work? Has anyone had a similar experience with Safari not playing .mp4 videos? (They play just fine in QT Player)
    Thanks

If you are having problems playing MPEG4 video in Quicktime 7.4 (and Apple are aware that some users have had such problems) you should carefully check in
    /Library/Quicktime and
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins and
    Home/Library/Quicktime
to check whether you have any third party plug-ins that are not completely up to date.
Current versions of Flip4Mac and DiVX and Perian do NOT cause failure alone or in combination. However the one SPECIFIC extension that ALWAYS causes the failure alone or in groups is 3ivxMediaImp. All other 3ivx extensions DO work. Remove only that ONE SPECIFIC extension.
Please try this and see if it fixes your problem with QT Player, the QT Firefox Plugin, and iTunes not playing MPEG4 files (including mp4 files).
Older 3ivx and DivX components are often incompatible with new QuickTime versions and are, in many cases, obviated by component packs like Perian.
This is not the only explanation for issues with MPEG4 file playback in QuickTime 7.4 and later, however. The issue with videos from democracynow.org and others, for instance, is the result of that content not complying with MPEG4 standards (namely that they use bogus track dimensions). QuickTime had previously ignored invalid track dimensions but this was changed in order to support properly authored anamorphic content.
The recent update to QT 7.4.1 has fixed a number of issues but some problems are unavoidable when working with non-standards compliant content. The standards are important for many reasons including keeping hackers from manipulating improperly coded web pages.
However, there is a workaround (also the basis for why those files will still play in iTunes): there are a few ways to trick QuickTime into ignoring the invalid track data. For instance, rename the files .3GP and they'll show up just fine.
Post back if you want a list of the plug-ins you should have in order to play pretty much anything in Quicktime.
