How to play Youtube/Hulu videos without disabling hardware acceleration

I have the Acer AspireRevo AR3700 nettop computer.  I cannot watch any Youtube or Hulu vidoes without disabling hardware acceleration.  I hear sound, but I do not get any video; all I get is a black screen.
The computer has the latest Nvidia Ion processor.  One of the major selling points of this computer, along with this particular GPU, is that it can play videos WITH hardware acceleration.
I have searched far and wide on the web and the only solution I can find is to disable hardware acceleration.  Unfortunately, that defeats the purpose of having the Nvidia Ion GPU.
Please advise me on how I can get the videos to work without having to disable hardware acceleration.  I DO want to take advantage of hardware acceleration, so please do not tell me to simply disable it.
Please help.

The native Android Youtube player does a much better job of handing video playback than embeded flash in a browser.

  • How to play YouTube videos in HD on iPhone over cellular?

Does anyone know how to play YouTube videos using the Google YouTube app in HD on the iPhone over cellular? I'm asking because I have an iPhone 5 with a large LTE data plan, which I don't mind using a bit more data for better clearity on the videos. I know in the past people have suggested to use YouTube in the Safari broswer to view videos in HD, but I find it to be non-consistant. Anyone have a better idea how to watch YouTube videos in HD on iPhone/iPad over cellular (3G/LTE)?

Did you use iAD to create the widget?   If  you did...  then there support  group  should have answers.
If you used one of the widgets in iBA  - as you have  had no suggestion for a fix... you will need to contact iBooks support.
The  More Like This column on the right shows links to similar problems.
It would  seem to be  related to  your  use of  You Tube and Vimeo content or maybe its how you  put the  widget content  together.
Have  you search the iBA help files, previous posts and the iBA  tips?

it started in the last few days, or weeks, before i updated my firefox. i can't play youtube music-videos posted on facebook from facebook, but i can play them only from youtube.com.
when i try to play a video that has music in it, i get this message:

i also sometimes get a message that a certain video can't be played from playlists, but i can watch the video from its page [i don't know if it's related..].
my friends who use chrome can play music-videos on facebook, and i tried for myself and it plays the videos and doesn't show any restrictions messages.
i didn't try on explorer [bleh] or opera.

Please read this article to see if it helps: http://discussions.nokia.com/t5/Pool-of-Knowledge/What-to-do-if-video-does-not-play-well-on-your-pho...
As for the app Smart Movie, well that may not be a fully featured video player and as this is a user to user forum for support of Nokia products and services only, you won't find any help here unfortunately.

  • Once firefox 4.o was installed, full screen video produced white screen. Had to exit and and restart video. Using a mac os 10.5. Disabling hardware acceleration did not fix. went back to firefox 3.6 and all is ok. Any help would be appreciated.

Once firefox 4.o was installed, when switching to full screen while watching any internet video produced a white screen but audio still playing. Switching back to small screen has a still video but audio still going. Had to exit and and restart video or open a blank new new tab then delete it and then small screen video would play. Using a mac os 10.5. Disabling hardware acceleration did not fix. went back to firefox 3.6 and all is ok. Any help would be appreciated.

Your hardware was never designed to run that old a version of OS X, it's best to update the application or find another application that is more up to date. Installing Leopard simply will not work on your system.

  • Flash Player - Disable Hardware Acceleration - Apple TV-Mac OS 10.4.7/Firefox

    Hello all,
I have been going down a fun path getting my 1st Generation Apple TV (160 GB HD) to run Hulu natively (without PlayOn restreaming).  After fun times getting Firefox and Flash Player working, I blasted through setting up Hulu Widget to keep the video size small (Apple TV in 480p defaults to an 800x600 res).   Things look pretty good. I maxed out buffering/cache for all Hulu related sites within Global settings, this produced nice improvements.  I found a GreaseMonkey script that forces the Flash Player to always render Low Quality video.  This helps immensely at stopping stuttering with little trade off in quality.  My last piece to try to tweak video playback (aside from monkeying around with the OS X kernel) is the disable Hardware Acceleration.
BUT, I am having a major problem with mouse support or something.  Everytime I bring up the Display settings via a Right Click, I cannot uncheck "Enable hardware acceleration".  Surprisingly clicking it 500 times still does not make it uncheck.
I have searched high and low but have not found a clearcut way to disable it via script or other non-interactive means.
I wonder if there might be a javascript that could be plugged into GreaseMonkey to accomplish the end goal.   This blog and Adobe document refer to the wmode parameter and how to use it to disable HA.
    http://niquimerret.com/?p=159
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flashplayer/articles/fplayer10_1_hardware_acceleration.html
I am thinking perhaps I can take the Low Quality JS (http://userscripts.org/scripts/review/38994) and replace "quality" with "wmode".  Am I on track?    It  seems "opaque" might be the right one.  http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/127/tn_12701.html
There is a case related to my question:  https://bugs.adobe.com/jira/browse/FP-5748
    Any tips, clues, pointers, commiserations?

Hi, LOL at my screen moniker. That's interesting that the FF beta has an Option for that. The only problem, is that I have heard that each browser must UNcheck the H.A. I'm sure you'll find out.
Hope that works at least for FF. Let me know if you have time.
I've been checking out Apple TV and Google TV. Just saved the links and some info, haven't had time to go further. I'd prefer Apple TV over Google tho.
I have a 55" HD Sony/Blu-ray Surround Sound Speakers, etc. I hooked up the VGA cable for Internet, and WOW on the Screen/Monitor!! Now I'm thinking about the iPhone 4 with VZ too, on their pre-order list for 2/3/11!
Hard to keep up with the Technology, moving faster today for some reason.
We are under the Snow & Ice warning, getting it now. Hope I don't lose power! If so, I'll be offline for sure.
If I find anything on that H.A. for IE, I'll let you know.
    Thanks,
    eidnolb

  • Disable hardware acceleration programmatically

    Hello,
Nowadays number of devices supporting flash is quite huge, however some of those devices do not support right clicking.
End user experience is also getting very important, so I want to understand if it's possible to disable flash hardware acceleration programmatically? (using actionscript, external SWF or executing Cthulhu summon procedure
I want to be able to disable hardware acceleration with simple checkbox. I googled this a lot, however I couldn't find any solution for this.
    anyone?

    hi,
i've tried all possible wmode options, however they don't really affect the video playback problem I am facing. the only way to fix it is to disable hardware acceleration in flash settings.
to be frank, I find current situation quite irritating - every service providing video experience to the users via flash is having special page containing advices for HW acceleration disabling:
    vimeo: Playback Issues on Vimeo
    youtube: https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/1230977?hl=en
    hulu: http://www.hulu.com/help/articles/166587
    etc... millions of them
and the only way to disable hardware acceleration is to go to the flash settings and disable it manually.
I wonder if there is anyone from Adobe reading those topics? For the last two weeks I googled a lot this topic, people like me are trying to provide best user experience, but they can't. I found similar to this topic even on those forums. The author also had to go for the manual 'resolution' approach. Come on guys, this is 2014, there should be more smarter ways doing this like providing actionscript methods for changing this option.

  • Immidiate crash of Flash, unable to disable hardware acceleration. Solved!

Flash video/content crashes instantly, so it makes it impossible to right-click it and enter the settings to disable hardware acceleration. This issue wasn't solved for over 2 years in other forum posts, but I finally did it. You have to temporarily DISABLE all your recording and playback devices in the windows' sound menu. this will let you play flash content (it did help me), just enough to disable hardware accelertion. I am suprized Mozilla survived despite being unable to debug their own software - no respect to customers ad their time.

Flash is developed by Adobe, not Mozilla. Though the good news is that Firefox is creating their own flash player that should be in a near-future version of Firefox.

  • Choppy Video w/Quicktime Hardware Acceleration Unchecked

In every other application (PowerDVD, WinDVD. TMPG DVD Author, etc.) videos play smoothly without enabling hardware acceleration. In iTunes (7.6.1.9), I must enable the hardware acceleration checkbox in Quicktime to allow smooth playback, However, this compromises video quality. The gamma curve seems messed up, black levels are too high and music videos have a general "washed out" appearance. Playing the same video in Quicktime itself is perfectly smooth with hardware acceleration unchecked and the video quality looks great. Since iTunes uses the Quicktime engine, I do not understand why this is happening?
I've put in a support request to Apple but no resolution, just the usual suggestions to download the latest nVidia drivers (done), uninstall/reinstall (done), etc. Same results on fast Ultra320 SCSI drive or Serial ATA drive.

I would try rolling back to an older version of flash. I think some if the recent releases of flash have been ultra buggy. I have quite a powerful laptop cpu/gpu and recent versions of flash are a bit choppy for me too. This forum has had a huge increase in posters with problems. Video should pose no problem for a computer even if it is a few years old.

  • Green screen of doom / no disable hardware acceleration

    I have a PC
    Windows 8
Problem # 1:  I am watching youtube. After a while, the screen becomes green. The only way for me to temporary fix ths problem is to restart my computer. But after a few more minutes, the green screen of doom comes back again!
Problem # 2 : Everywhere on the internet (including adobe), they say to go to settings > disable hardware acceleration. My settings doesnt have the display panel in settings and i cannot disable the hardware accelerator. In my settings, i have: privacy / local storage / microphone / camera. -- no display panel to disable hardware acceleration!
    Picture: http://img708.imageshack.us/img708/6821/greenscreeen.jpg
Problem # 3 : I cant email adobe for help at all. It just takes me to a faq help page which doesnt say anything to help my problem!!!
Can anyone help me? This green screen is very frustrating!!! The only way to watch videos on youtube to take out the green screen is to downgrade the video quality to 240p (which sucks by the way!!)
    Please help me.

I have found the solution to my problem, if others need this information.
I was using Internet explorer. That was the problem. I dont know why, but internet explorer doesnt have that tab in its settings to disable the hardware acceleration.
    Solution:
Download firefox. They have that tab to disable hardware acceleration. I didnt have any green screen problems after.
I dont know why any tech specialist here couldnt tell me this simple piece of information before.
I had to find it out for myself...
Such a simple solution to a simple problem...

  • Flash Player refuses to make "display" tab available in settings; cannot disable hardware acceleration.

Windows 8.1 64-bit laptop.  Multiple Flash Player issues.  (1) Sites say I do not have Flash Player installed but Adobe download page says I do.  (2)  Right clicking the test video, or any other video, give access to "settings" but there is no display tab.  (3)  Some video sites suggest watching in HTML5, which does work, but most simply present the green screen.  I have spent the better part of three days reading every forum I can find, and they all point to disabling hardware acceleration, but I cannot access it.  None of the recommended fixes work.

    HI ,
Please provide the following information :-
1)Snapshot of your "Flash player Settings " ..
