How to populate the value of 1 field in subtabs.

Guys,
Need your help.
In one of the standard page there are multiple subtabs. So, I have requirement if users enter a value for a field in 1st subtab then the same value should automatically get populated to the second subtab field .
Please help me in this.
Is it possible through personalization or we need to extend the CO.
Standard Page :- /oracle/apps/ap/payments/psr/webui/PsrPG
This is a form in 11i but in R12 it is OAF page.

As per my understanding, you have to extend your controller class:
1) Set PPR event on tab/field
2) Catch the PPR event in PFR method.
3) Get handle to AM and then VO and set attributes of the VO of 2nd tab.

I dont think in Floating point u can able to go for the decimal point display as it is for the minimum precission display..
Define the variable as the 'packed' type and then u can able to define the decimal point...

i ha ve to add some fields to the output of custome report of transaction FBL5N.
Till now i have only added the fields to the output.
Now i have to write the code to populate the data for those fields in the program.
1.     Customer Credit Group(ACM/RCM): (Table: KNKK; Field Name: VKORG )
2.     Credit Representative Group: (Table: KNKK; Field Name: SBGRP)
3.     Customer Account Number(CAN#): (Table: KNKK; Field Name: KNKLI)

These are al fields i have to populate in the program..
MY ATTEMPTS:
I tried getting the data for KNKK table by GET KNKK ,but it is giving some garbage values...
And Logical database used here is DDF,and i have to add the VKORG of KNVV too...but KNVV is not there in DDF...
Can anybody tell me how should i proceed..

i have following doubts again..
I have to add sales organisation field to the selection screen...(this is given in the req.)
now if i will say GET KNKK...it would not keep account of this 'sales organisation' field...so how should i fetch the data with these input data( i.e. 'compny code' and 'customer' are the fields given by LDB and 'sales oraganisation' is the field i put it on the selection screen)
And what about the KNVV-VKORG ,because the KNVV is not present in the LDB.

How to read the value of a field belonging to a different context node in GET_I method during runtime

I want the read the value of a field,'LCSTATUS' belonging to context node 'BTADMINH' in the GET_I method of the field, 'ZZFLD000008' belonging to context node,'ZBTACTIVITYH'.

LCSTATUS is not an attribute of the BTADMINH structure. It is read using the relation to the status object
BTADMINH-> BTHeaderStatusSet-> BTStatusHCurrent-> ACT_STATUS.

How to access the value of a field of a field symbol.

i need to access the value of a field in a field symbol. But when i am trying to get the value like <FS>-POSNR, it's showing that that the <FS> has no structure.
In my program, the field itself that i need to check should be dynamic. ie i'll get the field in a variable and i need to find the value of that field.
Am pasting my code below, please tell me what needs to be done.
here in my sample code i am moving the entry of the <FS> into a work area structure. But in my actual program, i gets the structure as a parameter. So is there any way i can declare a work area dynamically...

DATASET_WRITE_ERROR :How to know the value of a field at the time of error?

Hi All,
I have an ABAP code that write some records to a flat file. Am getting a DATASET_WRITE_ERROR when this program is run.
in ST22 i checked for any info that could be of help.
The Error Text is: "No Space left on device"
Error code: 28.
Now i want to know after writing how many records did the program threw the error.
I have a counter named WRITE_CTR. <b>Is there any way in the debug mode I can check for the value of WRITE-CTR just before the program terminated ?</b> checking the value of counter each time a record is written is not practical as there are almost 40k records in total.
In ST22 i checked the section "Chosen Variables". unfortunately this counter's value is not listed there.
Please let me know if there is any way i can see the contents of a field just before a short dump is generated.
Otherwise is there any option during debug that i can set a breakpoint on a statement when the field WRITE-CTR=<some value> say when WRITE-CTR = 30000 ?

Ok. Havent used Try..Catch in ABAP. I'll try using that. That should be a better way. Thanks.
I think it throws the error only after 20 or 30000 records are written. So its not possible to set a breakpoint where it writes to file and check which all records are written.
I wanted to know if there's any way to know the value of a filed just before the error is thrown. In the 'Watch' feature i saw an option to select a field and then give a comparison operator and all. Do you know how to use that ? Will that help me to break the execution when a field value equals a limit ? Just wondering what the Watch option is for!!

How to populate the values based on different selections in Dashboard Promp

Hi,
I have a group prompt, which has 2 drop downs. The DropDown1 decides the values of DropDown2.
I have used a SQL query in the "Show" values which will populate the dropdowns.
When a value is 'selected" from DropDown1, the selected value decided the values of DropDown2 which is again a SQL query.
But I see that when a new value is selected from DropDown1, the values in DropDown2 will not change until I click on GO.Even after clicking GO, the previously selcted value is retained.
As an illustration:
animals,plants are the choices in the first drop down, which if, animal is selected would populate the dropdown2 with cow,sheep, tiger.
Assume animal is selected. The second drop down now is populated with cow,sheep and tiger. Assume you chose sheep.This resulted in display of sheep related info on the BI page.
Now if I go back to the first dropdown and select plants, I would expect the second drop down to be populated with fig, palm, coconut.
However in my case I see only the proviously popluated animals in the DropDown2.
If I click on Go, I see that the DropDown2 is populated with Sheep,,fig, palm, coconut. Ideally I should not have seen the prevously selected value in DropDown2.
Here there are 2 problems stated for a group promt having 2 DropDowns where item chosen from one decides the values of the other dropdown
1. On selecting an item from DropDown1, is not populating with the corresponding values in DropDown2
2. When 'Go' is clicked, DropDown2 is populated with the corresponding values for DropDown1 + the previously selected value in DropDown2 is retained.
Any input to get out of this problem will help

Value of one decides the other. Values for the dropdowns will be populated by SQL results.
'Constrain' will not be available for sql results..
How to go about this?

How to watch the value of a field

I've a Variable Form with a field of the Drop-Down List type. I'd like to be able to read the content of this field when I deploy my project.
For example, when I don't choose any value for this field, the content of this field should be null or ' ' but, I don't really which is the content of the value. How can I know exactly the content?

Check the empty field condition with ISNULL conditional operator. i.e.
=ISNULL(@field)
and check the spaces with " " i.e.
=@field ==" "
when user enters multiple spaces then you can trim and and check i.e.
= TRIM(@field)==""
if you want to check the both then...
=IF(ISNULL(@field) OR field==" ", "true condition", "false condition")

How to populate the values in the drop down list form the xml file ?

I want to populate the drop down list values from a seperate xml file called ReferenceData. I created this file, which consists of a mapping entry in the form of ( key,value ) pair. Am mapping this xml file in to form by using rule named as getAppReferenceData.
But the values are not getting populated in the form. And I have a doubt of, where should we keep that xml file? (under which path / folder ).

what would help is if you showed what you do in the rule, either the code or a express trace of the rule.
The other thing you need to know is where you want to get the file from. Yes java can read a file from anywhere on the system but there is a security layer in there which might prevent the file being opened. Have you allowed acces to the file via the security policy settings via java.io.FilePermission?

1) In SE11 -> Delivery and Maintenance tab, select 'X', Display/maintenanace allowed...
Activate the table..
Then in the menu bar , Utilities->Table contents -> create entries...
Using this u can create new entries into ur table..
2) Use an ABAP code to download the table data.. and then upload the same to other table..
Select * from Z*** into table g_itab.
if sy-subrc =0.
Insert ZPRP from g_itab..
endif..

How to set the values to a field?

I have created a page which is used to create the records by using "Add Another Row" button.
If i click on "Add Another Row",a blank row will be created.
The requirement is,after clicking the "Add Another Row" , a default value should be set to one of the fields of the blank row.
