How to popule date with Sysdate?

Hi All!
I am using tabular form(for insert update and delete).all columns are editable except Primary key... There is a date column in it and the Requirement is whenever new rows are to be added, this field should be populated with sysdate.
Is there a way to do it through this page .. I can't use sysdate in select querry
as it would show the sysdate for previously entered records too.

another one I think I have a handle on... the fastest way I would do that is to show edit links, select the date field, throw SYSDATE in the default value, make it a PL/SQL Expression and refresh. That populates the date field with sysdate and if the item is displayed as a Date Picker you will get the date picker on the end.
Did I miss something somewhere about the design of the form that makes that answer too simple?
I'm assuming you want to do this so the operator doesn't have to enter "todays" date?
I frequently use this as a "RECORD_DATE" to indicate the date and time the record was created. Although in that instance I hide the field so the operator isn't aware it's there.
Similarly I always do the same for the user ID as well, hidden so the operator is unaware his ID and Date/Time are recorded into the record.
If you don't want the operator to edit the field, but still show the SYSDATE you can display the date as Display as TEXT (saves state). That should let them see todays date but prevent them from changing it. Although you did mention you wanted is defaulted rather than uneditable.
Gonna follow this thread in case there's a better way out there or I had the wrong idea.

We are using open hub to download transaction files from infocubes to application server, and would like to have filename which is dynamic based period and year, i.e. period and year of the transaction data to be downloaded.
I understand we could use logical file for this purpose. However we are not sure how to have the period and year to be dynamically derived in filename.
I have read in sdn a number of posted messages on a similar topic and many have suggested a 'How-to' paper titled "How to Extract data with Open Hub to a Logical Filename". However i could not seem to be able to get document from the link given.
Just wonder if anyone has the correct or latest link to the document, or would appreciate if you could share the document with all in sdn if you have a copy.

After creating open hub press F1 in Application server file name text box from the help window there u Click on Maintain 'Client independent file names and file paths' then u will be taken to the Implementation guide screen > click on Cross client maintanance of file name > create a logical file path by clicking on new entiries > after creating logical file path now go to Logical file name definition there give your Logical file , name , physical file (ur file name followed by month or year what ever is applicable (press f1 for more info)) , data format (ASC) , application area (BW) and logical path (choose from F4 selection which u have created first), now goto Assignment of physical path to logical path > give syntax group >physical path is the path u gave at logical file name definition.
however we have created a logical path file name to identify the file by sys date but ur requirement seems to be of dynamic date of tranaction data...may u can achieve this by creating a variable. U can see the help from F1 that would be of much help to u. All the above steps i have explained will help u create a dynamic logical file.

Would like so to seek for you advice on the above mention topic. How to display the data with the same text and key using function module 'VRM_SET_VALUES'. From my testing by writing a program, this function module will only show the text and key if both have different data. Please find the coding as below. Is the normal behaviour of this function module? How to overcome this problem? Thanks in advance.

which I need to compare with the current date.
Condition-
ZZOB is greater than current date or ZZOBLIG = NULL
Then go further statements.
how can i campare with the current date?

How to compare date with null value

I have a date filed and i assigned that input box with context attribute of type Date.
Here my problem is
when the end user not entered any thing (null ) the i have give some defaul date.
so first in the action method i have to check the date with null
if it is null i have to give default date.
so please let me know how to over come this.

i am having date from and date to feilds in my overtime element.i want to do the validation on these dates the the dates do not overlap or duplicated.the input value date from and date to are stored in database as varchar2 in the format yyyy/mm/dd 00:00:00. Now if i am trying to compare entered date with these dates i am getting literal does not match format string or date picture ends before....Can any body tell me what to do.

RegardsPoint a) VERY BAD IDEA storing dates as VARCHAR2 on the database. It will only lead to corrupt data in the future.
Point b) When comparing dates, you should compare them as DATE datatype as the database knows how to do comparisons against DATES. If you try and compare them as VARCHAR2 then you will most likely end up with incorrect comparisons.
If you must have varchar2 storing of your dates/times (there's absolutely no reason to though)... you want...

How to load data with carriage return through DRM action script ?

We are using DRM to manage Essbase metadata. These metadata contain a field for member formula.
Currently it's a string data type property in DRM so we can't use carriage return and our formula are really hard to read.
But DRM support other data type property : memo or formatted memo where we can use carriage return.
Then in the export file, we have change the record delimiter to an other character than CRLF
Our issue : we are regularly using action script to load new metadata => How to load data properties with carriage return using action script ? There is no option to change the record delimiter.

How to read data with different XML schemas within the single connection?

I have Oracle 11g database
I access it through jdbc:oracle:thin, version 11.2.0.3, same as xdb.
I have several tables, each has one XMLType column, all schema-based.
There are three different XML schemata registered in the DB
I may need to read the XML data from several tables.
If all the XMLTypes have the same XML schema ,there is no problem,
If the schemata are different, the second read throws BindXMLException.
If I reset the connection between the reads of the XMLType column with different schemata, it works.
The question is: how can I configure the driver, or the connection to be able to read the data with different XML schemata without resetting the connection (which is expensive).
The code to get the XMLType data is textbook implementation:

How to clone data with in Table with dynamic 'n' number of columns

I've a table with syntax,
create table Temp (id number primary key, name varchar2(10), partner varchar2(10), info varchar2(20));
And with data like
insert itno temp values (sequence.nextval, 'test', 'p1', 'info for p1');
insert into temp values (sequence.nextval, 'test', 'p2', 'info for p2');
And now, i need to clone the data in TEMP table of name 'test' for new name 'test1' and here is my script,
insert into Temp select sequence.nextval id, 'test1' name, partner, info from TEMP where name='test1';
this query executed successfully and able to insert records.
The PROBLEM is,
if some new columns added in TEMP table, need to update this query.
How to clone the data with in the table for *'n' number of columns and*
some columns with dynamic data and remaining columns as source data.

My Scenario, is we have a Game Details table. When ever some Game get cloned, we need to add new records in to that Table for the new Game.
As, the id will be primary key, this should populate from a Sequence (in our system, we used this) and Game Name will be new Game Name. And data for other columns should be same as Parent Game.
when ever business needs changes, there will be some addition of new columns in Table.
And with the existing query,
insert into Temp (id, name, partner, info) select sequence.nextval id, 'test1' name, partner, info from TEMP where name='test'_
will successfully add new rows but new added columns will have empty data.
so, is there any way to do this, i mean, some columns with sequence values and other columns with existing values.
One way, we can do is, get ResultSet MetaData (i'm using Java), and parse the columns. prepare a query in required format.
I'm looking for alternative ways in query format in SQL.

How I average data with 78,74,73 and 55 points respectively and end up with an array of 78 points for the average?

As the questions states, how do I average data with 78,74,73 and 55 points respectively and obtain an array of 78 points?
When I use the plus vi, Labview somehow produces an array of 55 points when I do the average (see attached vi).
I have been unlucky in trying to get good results.
Can anyone help?

The add function is polymorphic. It accepts arrays as well as numerics, but you need to understand one thing about array operations in LV. Operations performed on arrays of different sizes will always (I think) work based on the smallest array. For example, if you auto index 2 arrays of different sizes into a for loop, the number of times the loop will run will be the size of the small array. The same is true here - when you wire 2 arrays of different sizes to the add function, only the first N elements of the larger array get processed. The rest are dumped. That's why you get 55 elements.
Attached is a modification of your VI which shows 2 things:
The bottom part is your algorithm, only cleaned up. Note how much easier it would be to read now. You should always write clean code. Also, note that I have changed the representation on some of the data from DBL to I32. This is because this is the representation the array function work with and your code had the DBLs coerced for no reason.
The top part is a different algorithm which should do what you want. Note that like Mike said, the arrays with smaller sizes will have 0s appended at the end, so if you want to avoid that, you will have to modify the last part, where the averaging is done and only divide those columns which are long enough.

How to access date with respective to different language

In my database i stored the date in the following format1992-03-28 13:07:53.000.
In My application user can use upto 8 languages.Now the problem is when the user logged in with english the date format will be like 5/26/08(dd/mm/yy).but me convert this format to 05/26/2008(dd/mm/yyyy) through and use the following syntax for constrains dateformat(MaoDate,'mm/dd/yyyy') = '05/26/2008'
Now my problem is for some other language the date format is like Arr 20 07 or 25.05.92.But me wrote the code conversion only for the format mm/dd/yy.
Is there any general way to acces the date for all the languages?

Now the problem is i will get the string like 5/8/08 or Jan 21 07 .... from My GUI. But me wrote code only to convert from 5/8/08 to 05/08/2008...Bcz date comparison was happening in dd/mm/yyyy format.
But whenever i am getting data like Jan 21 07 from GUI my conversion is not happening.And now the date constrain is dateformat(MaoDate,'mm/dd/yyyy') = 'Jan 21 07' i mean my code checking the date format with dd/mm/yyyy with date Jan 21 07.
So i need to write a code to convert all the regional format to dd/mm/yyyy.So is there any common way to comapre the date with all regional format!!!!!!

How to filter date with time

Hi, with ADF 11.2.0 , i'm having a date column in the table which displays the date and time in the format of "yyyy-MM-dd hh:mm:ss.FF ". But the filter allows me to give only the date and i'm expecting to filter the records at least based the on the given date. But it's not working so. The reason i got in this forum is ,
"The typical af:table setup has it such that the filter for a date column allows you to specify dates, but not times. When the filter queries against the database, *it defaults the date's time component to midnight*. As such only records that match the date at midnight will be returned."
Based on the above statement , i guess no way for my scenario to filter the records based on date. Is there any way to filter data with time stamp. Thanks .

What if you define a transient attribute in your VO that basically uses Trunc(dateField) as its value?
Then show this attribute in the table for filtering.
