How to port your old contacts?

I was wondering if anyone knew how to port all my contacts from my old phone to the iphone? I have all my numbers copied in my sim card already how do i dump this onto the iphone?

If your phone supports bluetooth, check if you can send vcards to your address book on your Mac. After you get them into your address book, they will sync into your iPhone.

Hey,
I think you will find that you have to have a debit/credit card stored on yur account regardless of whether your have iTunes Credit or want to purchase a free App. I don't know why, I assume its for ID verification or is part of the terms and conditions. I occasionally have to re-verify my credit card info even when just trying to run Update on one of my Apps or like I said downloading a free App.

Are you sure the contacts are in the Backup Assistant Plus? It is my understanding that the Backup Assistant has been incorporated into the VZW Cloud.
Could the contacts be saved in your Gmail account instead?

I managed to transfer the music from 1 pc to 1 other pc (to be played by iTunes). Bit didn't fixe the transfer of the meta data (for example the rating). Does anyone know how to use your old playlists, etc..(= meta data) on the other PC? So, please help!

I managed to transfer the music from 1 pc to 1 other pc (it is played perfectly on the other PC (Windows 7- pc) by the newly downloaded and installed iTunes, version 10.6.1.7). But I didn’t fix the transfer of the meta data (for example the rating). Does anyone know how to use (or import) your old playlists, etc..(= meta data) on the other PC? So, short: how to migrate the meta data from one pc to an other pc?
It's a pity that it seems not to be possible to import on the new pc e.g. the ratings!!!
I don't want to start again with rating my (beautiful classical) music!

I'm trying to sync my contacts between Address Book and my Sony Ericsson D750i (identical to the K750i). I have been able to sync contacts (from one group) once successful to the phone. Now when I do another sync after some changes on the Mac, iSync wants to add a large number of contacts to the Address Book. (I suspect that this is related to the message that iSync displays while syncing: "getting contacts from Backup conduit".) When I allow the changes I get a number of old contacts that I had delete a while ago. Some are even corrupted.
How can I avoid this? Is there some additional backup somewhere which I would have to delete?

How to Sync your Old iPhone Settings to a new iPhone (Text, Wallpaper, Icon

I have upgraded from a 4gb to an 8gb and then to a 16gb iPhone. Today I purchased the new 3G 16gb iPhone and have transferred all of my information (including Text Messages) to my new iPhone.
What they tell you in the store is to just plug in your phone and hit sync. That doesn't give you everything. To get everything from your old phone to your new one, just follow these steps:
1) Sync your old iPhone (when finished, unplug it)
2) Plug in the new iPhone
3) Ask to "Restore" (this may bomb out but just restart the restore and it should work)
4) After #3 above, the system will ask you if you want to resync from your new iPhone. DO NOT USE THAT OPTION) Instead, choose from the drop down selection Your Old iPhone Backup)
5) Let it run. When completed, you will only have your system changes (Wallpaper, icons, text messages, etc.)
6) Now sync your iPhone to your iTunes (remember that you will have to reselect your playlists, movies, etc.)
You should now have the new iPhone with all your old iPhone's information

CHANGING APPLE ID/EDIT ACCOUNT INFORMATION/CHANGE ITUNES COUNTRY
Tap Settings / iTunes & App Stores, then tap the Apple ID signed in. Sign out of the current Apple ID account and then sign in with another account or create a new Apple ID http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2731?viewlocale=en_US
Go to settings/facetime and tap the ID there and log out and log in with new ID.
Go to settings/messages and turn off imessages wait 30 seconds and turn it back on, go to “receive messages at” tap on the ID there, sign out and sign in with new ID.
Go to settings/icloud and delete the account and when prompted select “keep information on your device” then turn it back on with the new ID.
To edit account information tap Settings / iTunes & App Stores / Apple ID: / View Apple ID
To change your iTunes Store country, sign in to the account for the iTunes Store region you would like to use, tap Settings/iTunes & App Store/Apple ID/View Apple ID/Country/Region

I find this confusing.
I have an iPhone 4 with an AT&T contract.
I am eligible for an upgrade and have ordered an iPhone 5 from Apple.
What steps do I have to take to keep my old telephone number on the new iPhone 5?
I believe this answer from AT&T is nonsense:

order for you to utilize the iPhone 5 on your current phone number, you
must return the iPhone 4 you recently purchased. You will be charged the
restocking fee for the return. You must return it with the original
packaging to the location from which the device was purchased. I show
that you purchased the device at an Apple store.
They can also assist you with preordering an iPhone 5. Once they have
processed your return of the iPhone 4, it should allow them to pre-order
your iPhone 5.

you should never have to return the product once you bought and are under contract. At no point can they make you return it.
As far as the iPhone 5 is concerned, just like Brad said, activate it through itunes and if a problem arises just call att.

I think what you are asking is if your HD needs replacement under AppleCare can you keep the old drive to protect the data on it. Is that correct?
If you need to have a HD replaced under AppleCare then you should ask the AASP and request it back. However they are not obligated to do so under the Terms and Conditions of AppleCare that states:
*"The products or parts that are replaced become Appleʼs property."*

If you cannot agree to this then you should self insure to protect the integrity of the HD. Then if a HD needs replacement you have the right to demand the old HD back as it's your property.

Well, the level of pain you are about to experience will hinge on what level of backup you have of the phone. If none, you will soon have a blank, from-factory phone you will have to reconfigure from scratch.

ICloud replaced my contact list. How to revert to old contact list?

Two phones on my current apple account, both attached to iCloud: an iPhone 4 and an iPhone 4S.
Updated my iPhone 4 a week ago, allowed iCloud to sync all contacts.
Just today(a week after the iOS update and iCloud settings), my contacts start disappearing from my contact list. After a few hours they are all replaced with the contact list from the iPhone 4s.
How do I go about reverting my contacts to the original contact list on my iPhone 4?

I had to upgrade my iphone 4 to a 4s because it was stolen, now (a day after the upgrade) someone elses contact list is in my phone. Kinda the same situation but im wondering if you were able to get this resolved. I would like my contact list back too.

If your new phone is running iOS 8.1 and you tried restoring your iCloud backup and the only available backup that was listed was yesterday, then there aren't any other backups to restore from. I'm not sure what you mean when you say "...when I look into my account is see more than what is there..." Where are you looking when you see this?
