How to post a video podcast

I have audio podcasts but how do I post a video podcast to iTunes

The same way you do the audio file - just upload the file to your current host - If they support video - and the post the episode just like you would audio.
Some Hosts are audio only - but other podcast hosts - like libsyn.com - do support both Audio and video files.

  • How to create a Video Podcast?

    Hi,
I have a question about how to create a Video Podcast.
What I like to do is record what I can see ON my screen. And I don't want to use a Video Cam to make Videos of it.
If anyone knows how to to that or if there is an application I could use it would be great.
What I am looking for more or less is an App like Audio HiJack Pro - well more like a Video HiJack Pro. The question is not about how to do the encoding once I have the Video.
Any ideas? Any would be great. Just tell me how its done and what I need to buy.
    Thanks a lot

    LaForge,
I use Snapz Pro X by Ambrosia Software.
I've made some video podcasts of tutorials of iMovie for my work, and you can see them here: http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=74837876
The video gets jerky when capturing the video within iMovie, but it may be because I only have 512 MB of RAM. But for just capturing stuff like opening folders and what not, it will do the trick.

  • How do you Chapter Video Podcasts in Final Cut Pro Studio 2

I am in final cut pro studio 2. I have my video setup like I want. I placed Markers and labeled them as chapters. But when I try to export i just get a chapterless video. How on earth do i get this to work. I tried exporting with Compressor and exporting with Quicktime pro. I just want to make a chaptered video podcast why is it so darn hard to do so? I went hunting everywhere on the net and nothing explains just how to do it in Final Cut Pro. Everything is iMovie this iMovie that .... well sorry, but I don't want to use stinking iMovie.
Sorry for venting I'm just really aggravated because I have tried four different things hoping it would work but each export which is two hours of wasted time that I fall more behind.

    Hi Patrick,
My FCP experience is limited - I write software add-ons for it, but I don't edit. I remember this issue coming up before though. QuickTime has the ability to create chapter tracks, but you can't do this from markers in FCP. (I used to do it with the great QuickTime editor in Adobe GoLive.)
The chapter tracks in .mp4 video are similar but different to the QuickTime chapter tracks, so I assume that the FCP markers won't work. Frustrating!
Why don't you try out PodcastMaker free for 30 days: http://www.lemonzdream.com/podcastmaker/ This software is very easy to use and (outside of Garageband) is the easiest way to add chapter tracks to a podcast, and even though it's an extra step, it will help you with the podcasting side of the workflow you'll eventually be faced with.

  • HT5295 How do I play video podcasts on my TV via the Podcasts app? After iOS 6 upgrade, I'm unable to do this.

I used to be able to play video podcasts on my TV by connecting my iPod touch to the TV via an Apple AV cable.  Now that I've upgraded to ios 6 and the podcasts app got installed along with the upgrade, video podcasts will no longer play on my TV.  It should be noted that other video content (movies, TV shows, etc) will play properly.  Is there a setting I need to make that will fix this, or is this yet another bug with the podcasts app? Also, I have to say that I'm not happy at all with the Podcasts app, so if there's a way to uninstall it without harming the functionality of ios 6, that would be great.

I found a workaround that puts podcasts back in the video app as well as the music app so you can watch them on TV via an AV cable again.
The instructions can be found at this video:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uaI9GwPKXkE
    In short:
    1. Make sure both the music and podcast app aren't running on your iPhone.
    2. Plug your iPhone into your computer and disable Podcast syncing for your iPhone in iTunes.
    3. Remove the podcast app from your iPhone
    4. Plug your iPhone into your computer again and turn on podcast syncing, then sync.
    5. Turn off and then back on your iPhone.
After I did this, I found podcasts had returned to being listed in my music and video apps.
    Hope this helps you too!

Or is the Podcast app for some reason designed so that you are unable to output a signal via the AV cable when playing back video content (this would be a pretty bad decision on apple's part).  Also, I have to say that I'm not happy at all with the Podcasts app, so if there's a way to uninstall it without harming the functionality of ios 6, that would be great.

  • How to transfer my videos podcasts from macbookpro to my new iMac ?

I've just bought a new iMac and would like to transfer my videos podcast from my MacBookPro without having to download all of them again. I was already successfull in transfering the subscriptions but they are asking to download again all the videos, including the free and the bought ones. That is a waste of time ! Isn't there a Apple smart way to avoid it ?
    Thanks in advance folks !

You can't do it directly on your iPad. You will need to copy them to your computer : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083
Then add them to your computer's iTunes via File > Add To Library so that they go into the Movies part of your iTunes library, and then sync them to your iPad's Videos app.

    Hi,
There is a Podcast Forum that might give you a quicker answer.
    If you go here http://www.apple.com/itunes/podcasts/
then in the orange box on the left it has links for Creating and Publishing Podcasts.

  • How can I watch video podcasts on Apple TV?

On my computer, podcasts are a major headline on the standard menu. On Apple TV, they don’t seem to be part of the menu. How can I find them?
    Thank you for your help!
PS. My reason for asking is I’d love to have my TV show a video of beautiful scenery – as if I had the greatest natural beauty just outside that big “window” in my living room. Videos like that seem not to be available for sale. They’re only available as free podcasts. Fine, but on my Apple TV I can't find any downloaded podcasts. Are there any other ways I can see uncut, peaceful videos of natural beauty?

    Thank you Jeff,
I’ve found a much better way to watch relaxing nature videos. I’ve set up a Vimeo account and accessed it for my Apple TV.
For some reason, there are no relaxing nature videos on iTunes. I can’t really imagine why. They are for sale many other places on the internet. And the ones to buy are much better than the free podcasts.
Instead of buying them on Amazon and then accessing them through my home network I buy them on Video On Demand (VOD) on Vimeo. They are not cheap, but they are great. And I can watch them, no problem, on my Apple TV. I’ve now been on long walks along Thai beaches, watched the sun set and rise over the Pacific, sailed down a river in a mangrove jungle and the like. Just what I wanted. Perfect to have in the background on the TV while working on the computer.

  • How do I Update Video Podcast Episode?

I uploaded a new m4v file and updated my xml feed file with the new file name and a new release date/time. I kept the title the same (see http://feeds.thesailingchannel.com/TheSailingChannel | the C Cushions episode). My feed url reflects the change but the subscription doesn't update in iTunes (even when I force a manual update). I currently have the orginal episode in my library. I'm wondering: do I have to delete the original episode before itunes will update? Should I also change the title of the updated episode in my xml file? I want all current subscribers to get the update, so having a user delete the current version first is not an option. Suggestions?

  • How to video podcast???!?!?

    Greetings,
I have searched all over the web on how to do a video podcast. The only 'answers' I have found have been sites that want you to pay to learn how, and Apple's own site which basically shows you how to export the video....which is NOT the hard part
    They also have the following....
"You can publish the exported file to the Internet as an enclosure on a blogging service, such as Blogger, and wrapped in a podcast-friendly RSS feed. (Please note: the file must be hosted on a web server such as .Mac.) RSS feed providers, such as FeedBurner, make it easy to create an RSS file from your blog."
Does anyone speak whatever language that is in? If you do please help translate for me I am SOOO lost. (Apple should make a podcasting iApp)
    Thanks for any help!!!
    Ray

All podcasts take RSS feeds. This is a special format language like html for web pages. There are special itunes tags to add if you wish it to show up in itunes.
The raw approach is to upload your audio or video files to an ftp site (or .mac)
Then create an RSS feed using one of the free/shareware programs for the Mac. These will output a file that you can upload to the same site. There are also php files that can do this automatically but this is a web programming language.
A link to this rss file is submitted to iTunes and other podcast directories.
Everytime you add a file you need to update the rss file.
Here's what a lot of people do:
First find a host to upload your video to. That can be .mac or other location.
.Mac is easier to upload but you can use CyberDuck (free ftp program for the Mac) to upload to any other site. Upload a 300 x 300 pixel artwork to this same area.
Create a blog at blogger. (it's free) Create a Post and put in the http://yourmovieurl.m4v in the link below the post. Write a few sentences.
Sign up for feedburner (free once again)
Give feedburner your blogger address and click on podcast.
Go to feedburner area for your site and turn on SmartCast. Fill in info about your podcast.
You now have a feed from feedburner. Use Feemedic and podmedic at feedburner to check.
it is rather round about. (would be great to have one place that did it all)
One nice thing is once it's set up you can upload a file and then create a simple blog with the link. The blog can be your web page where people can read more info or access files directly. Once you create a post on blogger feedburner is autoupdated which in turn updates itunes and other podcast directories and applications.
feedburner also gives you info on number of viewers/listeners.
One item to note with video is you have to make sure the host site handles mime types for your video formats.
.mp4 = video/mpeg, etc Most don't handle mp4 or m4v so check with the hosting company.

  • Bug in playing back video podcasts from playlists?

I subscribe to about 2 dozen podcasts, a few of which are video podcasts. I have a smart playlist that collects all the podcasts together, based an their Album name. I have a second smart playlist that collects all unplayed & unrated members of the first podcast playlist.
I have my Nano set to autosync the second smart playlist. If I navigate to this playlist (via main menu->Music->Playlists)I can see the video podcast titles listed there, see the little TV symbol next to them signifying they're video, but when I try playing them, I see a single frozen video frame, and the audio plays. Rotating the Nano to landscape mode doesn't make a difference. It happens on all my video podcasts.
But when I play the video podcast via main menu->Podcast (enabled via Settings->General->Main Menu), it'll play normally.
Has anyone else run into this bug? Anyone able to play video podcasts via the Music->Playlist?

This is a serious bug. I was puzzled how to play the video podcasts which were put in a playlist using the same method as yours: 1st Smartlist collects all podcasts, and the second one collects the unplayed ones. Then I synch the second smart play list. No matter what I do, I cant see the video. However thanks to your post, I now know I can see it via the much more "normal" route of selecting podcasts from the main menu.

  • No full screen option for streaming video podcasts??

Why does Apple have to make things so difficult at times for something that should be so obvious and straightforward? Anyone know how to view streaming video podcasts in full screen?

Turning off the TV safe area is to prevent parts of the images from being lost, which is not the issue here. The problem I'm having is that there there are black bars around the entire displayed image. I believe this is called windowboxing. Letterboxing has black bars at top and bottom of screen, pillarboxing has the black bars at the left and right of screen. It's all to do with the ratio of the photographs.
My photos were all taken with a digital camera and are 4:3 ratio. I want the images to display FULL SCREEN. They are not doing this - not on a TV monitor - and not on a computer monitor!!! Is windowboxing hard-wired into the iDVD themes? This can't be right. PLEASE HELP!!!
