How to present requirements and conventions?

I'm curious how others go about designing their presentations
to incorporate the nuts and bolts stuff.
Do you typically have a systems requirements page in the
presentation? List requirements outside the CBT where the CBT is
hosted? How about conventions and instructions for use? Page or
pages within the CBT? On the page where the CBTs are hosted?
For those of you who integrate this stuff, do you make the
information mandatory by placing it in an introductory section or
optional by leaving it somewhere for access on a "need to know"
basis?

Agreed with jbradley if it's hosted in an LMS. The 'how to
use' lesson
is generally a standalone, separate lesson in the LMS course.
If it's not for LMS delivery, we typically bundle all lessons
into an
overall course using a 'shell' or container program developed
in Flash.
The Flash shell lists the lessons on a left-side menu
(sometimes
collapsable if needed), the first of which is the 'how to
use' lesson.
If system requirements need to be listed, we usually make
those part of
the installer or ReadMe file and do not include them in the
course
unless the client so requests.

    Modeling approach:
    Top down - Try and find out what kind of reports the users need. Based o that you can determine your granularity of data.
    Have to find out what the sources are. Then decide if you have standard content or if you need to enhance or develop new objects.
    Try and see if standard reports are enough.
    If they ned aggregated data, decide on cubes. Then decide what all business areas the reports encompass. Based on that u can decide to build multiproviders or infosets depending on requirement.
    try to incorporate all the keyfigures  and characteristics in your data model.
    then decide how many layer ODS's you might need.
    then come up with a data model accordingly.

    Set Background Color Transparency 0%
    Set Data Value Presentation value for 1 st (Outside)
    Percent for 2nd (Inside)

    it's hard to find a solution without access to your system.
    I would do several things:
    - gather new stats for the repos schema
    - purge old audit information
    - look at the execution plans of the mappings to find some abnormal behaviour
    - compare the mappping code and the execution plan with scd2 and without
    - use the database tools (like em) or 3rd-party-tools to analyze the performance/warnings/alerts of the system
    - analyse if some databbase parameters was changed.
    - look if some other processes (from other projects) run at the same time like my loading mappings. Perhaps this reduced the cpu or i/o performance.

    I have created a form with 5 blocks (namely ENQACMHDR, ENQACMDTL, ENQACEHDR, ENQACEDTL, ENQACSPEC), where i have 8 push buttons (namely ENTER_QUERY, EXEC_QUERY, CLEAR, FIRST, NEXT, PREVIOUS, LAST & EXIT).
    This form is created just for viewing purpose only. So after I execute, all the blocks have been blocked against insert & update.
    I query on 2 fields that is 'ENQNO' and 'RATNG' (Both the fields belong to the block ENQACMDTL).
    When I click on 'EXEC_QUERY' directly, all the data of all the years populates.
    But the user wanted the data to be populated from only the present year and the previous year.
    So , on 'WHERE Clause' of the property_palette of 'ENQACMDTL' block , I put in the following condition:

    So when i query on the field 'RATNG',
    Example:For RATNG=500KC2;
    I click on ENTER_QUERY, On the field of 'RATNG' , i put in the value 500KC2 and click on  EXEC_QUERY; Details with respect to 500KC2 is displayed as well as all the other unwanted RATNG like 750KC6, 1000KC2 (which belongs to the ENQNO of the present year and the previous year) also gets displayed.
    I want details of only RATNG (500KC2) to be displayed, but only of the present year and the previous year, that is 2013900054, 2012520109 (ENQNO).
    Other than 500KC2 RATNG, no other RATNG must be displayed.
    The RATNG=500KC2 is also present for ENQNO=2011540036 , 2006900072. But I dont want these to be displayed.
    I want only the data or details of the present year and the previous year to be displayed or populated with respect to the given RATNG.
    Can You Help me or tell me what do i do for this?

    On key-exeqry you have to program.  Delete all other trigger codings for checking your condition.
    It dint work on key-exeqry.
    I tried key-exeqry on form trigger, block (enqacmdtl) and also on field(:enqacmdtl.enqno) , but none of them worked.
    It did not display the message.
    I have a 'PUSH-BUTTON:EXEC_QUERY.
    For EXEC_QUERY, Trigger : WHEN_BUTTON_PRESSED;
    I added the following code:

    On the field :enqacmdtl.enqno, when i enter the '2013%' and press 'EXEC_QUERY', it works fine.
    but when i enter '2006%' and press 'EXEC_QUERY', it shows the following error
    FRM-50016: Legal characters are 0-9 - +E. It does not display the message also.
    but when i enter the complete number, '2006580002', then it works fine , that is it displays the message (The Rating is not present for the present year and the previous year).
    The problem is because of '%', only when i put in the restricted data (which does not satisfy where condition).
    How do i solve this?

  • How to split presentation level and business level using two ATG instances

    Hello All!
    We are investigating possibility of splitting ATG presentation (web store with jsp pages and other presentation components) and business (ATG components such as Pricing, Catalog, etc.) levels. The first idea that we have is simply start two instances of ATG. One instance will serve client requests (presentation level) and communicates with another ATG instance (business level) where all ATG components are situated.
    The main problem is a Nucleus container which is used for accessing all ATG components. And we don't know right solution how to point to a Nucleus container that is situated on a remote ATG instance. Right now we have two ideas how to establish communication between two ATG instances:
    - try to replace local Nucleus container by remote one using RMI;
    - do not replace Nucleus container by implementing some custom filter that can redirect all servlet requests to another ATG instance. In that case we will have two Nucleus containers.
    What do you think about all this? Do you have any other solutions how to solve the task? Maybe we lost something? Can we deploy a cluster of ATG instances that will communicate between each other?

    Yes ATG system can have multiple nodes grouped in one or more clusters managed by load balencer
    If the services you are talking about are inherently ATG services like login, add to cart, checkout then its better to implement it with ATG.
    ATG provides and support both REST and SOAP based Webservice and allows you to expose any ATG component as service thus making it available outside ATG space.
    To be able to manage load better you can split your servers to page serving servers and services oriented servers and place them into multiple clusters.
    Though I haven't seen anyone using this kind of topology so not sure whether it's there is any challenge in setting up this topology.

    A forms developer could make those fields required with a CUSTOM.pll extension if you didn't want to use forms personalization. Both are considered customizations to standard functionality and may or may not require rework after patching or upgrades.

    OpenSSL v.0.9.7l Sept. 2006
    I need to require SSL for IMAP access, however, I also need to provide webmail access. SquirrelMail does support TSL it seems and that can be configured from /etc/squirrelmail/config/conf.pl and is discussed briefly here: http://www.squirrelmail.org/wiki/SquirrelMailIMAPS .
    When I turn on TSL on SquirrelMail and change the IMAP port number to 993 attempting to log into SquirrelMail provides the following error:
    Bad request: IMAP server does not appear to support the authentication method selected. Please contact your system administrator.
    According to the above noted page from the SquirrelMail site one needs PHP 4.3 and SSLv3 in order for TSL to work, one must also connect to the IMAP server over port 993. Requirements I appear to meet.
    So – how can one require the use of SSL for IMAP and still provide webmail access via SquirrelMail?

    Yet from time to time these same users are in a

    secure webmail by requiring SSL.
    I see, your problem. In this particular case there is a workaround.
    Use different ports for postfix and cyrus limited to localhost, thus catering only to SquirrelMail, thus not needing TLS.
    Roughly do this (this is just off the top of my head, may contain errors):
    For SMTP / Postfix:
    Edit /etc/postfix/master.cf
    and add:
    465 inet n - n - - smtpd
    -o smtpdrecipientrestrictions= permit_mynetworks,reject
    -o mynetworks=127.0.0.1/32
    -o smtpdenforcetls=no
    # This will create a port 465 (if you use this alreay pick another one. choose the number wisely, depending ony what is in use on your server)
    # This port is only accessible to IP number in "mynetworks"
    For IMAP / Cyrus
    Edit /etc/cyrus.conf and add (below imap):
    imaplocal cmd="imapd -C /etc/imapd-local.conf" listen="127.0.0.1:imap" prefork=0
    Next duplicate /etc/imapd.conf and name it imapd-local.conf
    Edit /etc/imapd-local.conf
    Change

    Basic troubleshooting steps outline in the manual are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new.  Try each of these in order until the problem is resolved.  If you've been through all these steps and the trouble persists, you'll need to bring your phone to Apple for evaluation.  Be sure to make an appointment first at the Genius Bar so you won't have a long wait.

    To remove Audiobooks depending on the type of Audiobook ie a series of mp3 files you will find under music and probably have to deselect the album name to remove it. I don't have any of these as I download from Audible or I use Audiobook Builder to stictch together mp3 files into m4b files. To find these Click on Books you will immediately see a section for books (in reality ebooks). Scroll down past that and you will see Audiobooks where you can select and deselect. Deselect the required Audiobooks and Click Sync

    I've recently acquired a macbook. I'm very familiar with PCs and I have recently converted.
    I used to format my PCs every 10 months or so to keep them healthy and keep the clutter of stuff away. The file structures and everything is different with macs and Leopard especially is different. I want to know what would be required of me to do the equivalent of a PC formatting on a mac. And how often do they have to be done on Macs anyway? I'm guessing it's about the same as it is for PCs, around 10 months or so?
    On my PC I'd just copy the My Documents folder, my iTunes, My Pictures folder, Microsoft Outlook (I'd make a backup and restore it after the format), and My Videos. I'd copy all these onto an external hard drive and then drop them all back onto my PC after the format.
    What is the equivalent procedure on a Macbook with Leopard? I have Time Machine with Time Capsule, if that makes a difference. But I heard that Leopard has it's own ways of formatting when you want to format? What are my options in terms of achieving the same sort of end product? Namely, getting rid of the clutter that accumulates on computers over time, and then restoring all my documents and media files back to the computer after the format.
    Thanks for the help. I'm glad I'm on a Mac now, but this is the one thing I haven't been able to figure out.

    Extended Hard Drive Preparation
    1. Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder. If you need to reformat your startup volume, then you must boot from your OS X Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger or Leopard.)
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing. SMART info will not be reported on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID (only required for Intel Macs) then click on the OK button. Set the number of partitions from the dropdown menu (use 1 partition unless you wish to make more.) Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the volume(s) mount on the Desktop.
    4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
    5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
    6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.
    Steps 4-6 are optional but should be used on a drive that has never been formatted before, if the format type is not Mac OS Extended, if the partition scheme has been changed, or if a different operating system (not OS X) has been installed on the drive.
    Although the above is the procedure there's no reason to ever reformat the drive unless the drive or system files have been corrupted beyond repair.
    You can easily create a bootable clone of your system on an external Firewire drive. If you ever need to replace the system you can simply restore it from the clone. Using backup software the clone can even be kept current with incremental updates. This whole process can be automated via backup schedules provided the backup software supports scheduling (most decent ones do.) Individual files or folders can also be selectively restored from the backup.
    Basic Backup
    Get an external Firewire drive at least equal in size to the internal hard drive and make (and maintain) a bootable clone/backup. You can make a bootable clone using the Restore option of Disk Utility. You can also make and maintain clones with good backup software. My personal recommendations are (order is not significant):
    1. Retrospect Desktop (Commercial - not yet universal binary)
    2. Synchronize! Pro X (Commercial)
    3. Synk (Backup, Standard, or Pro)
    4. Deja Vu (Shareware)
    5. Carbon Copy Cloner (Donationware)
    6. SuperDuper! (Commercial)
    7. Intego Personal Backup (Commercial)
    8. Data Backup (Commercial)
    The following utilities can also be used for backup, but cannot create bootable clones:
    1. Backup (requires a .Mac account with Apple both to get the software and to use it.)
    2. Toast
    3. Impression
    4. arRSync
    Apple's Backup is a full backup tool capable of also backing up across multiple media such as CD/DVD. However, it cannot create bootable backups. It is primarily an "archiving" utility as are the other two.
    Impression and Toast are disk image based backups, only. Particularly useful if you need to backup to CD/DVD across multiple media.

    Although you can buy a complete FireWire drive system, you can also put one together if you are so inclined. It's relatively easy and only requires a Phillips head screwdriver (typically.) You can purchase hard drives separately. This gives you an opportunity to shop for the best prices on a hard drive of your choice. Reliable brands include Seagate, Hitachi, Western Digital, Toshiba, and Fujitsu. You can find reviews and benchmarks on many drives at Storage Review.
    Enclosures for FireWire and USB are readily available. You can find only FireWire enclosures, only USB enclosures, and enclosures that feature multiple ports. I would stress getting enclosures that use the Oxford chipsets (911, 921, 922, for example.) You can find enclosures at places such as;

    NewEgg
    All you need do is remove a case cover, mount the hard drive in the enclosure and connect the cables, then re-attach the case cover. Usually the only tool required is a small or medium Phillips screwdriver.
    Kappy's Personal Suggestions for OS X Maintenance
    For disk repairs use Disk Utility. For situations DU cannot handle the best third-party utilities are: Disk Warrior; DW only fixes problems with the disk directory, but most disk problems are caused by directory corruption; Disk Warrior 4.x is now Intel Mac compatible. TechTool Pro provides additional repair options including file repair and recovery, system diagnostics, and disk defragmentation. TechTool Pro 4.5.1 or higher are Intel Mac compatible; Drive Genius is similar to TechTool Pro in terms of the various repair services provided. Versions 1.5.1 or later are Intel Mac compatible.
    OS X performs certain maintenance functions that are scheduled to occur on a daily, weekly, or monthly period. The maintenance scripts run in the early AM only if the computer is turned on 24/7 (no sleep.) If this isn't the case, then an excellent solution is to download and install a shareware utility such as Macaroni, JAW PseudoAnacron, or Anacron that will automate the maintenance activity regardless of whether the computer is turned off or asleep. Dependence upon third-party utilities to run the periodic maintenance scripts had been significantly reduced in Tiger and Leopard.
    OS X automatically defrags files less than 20 MBs in size, so unless you have a disk full of very large files there's little need for defragmenting the hard drive. As for virus protection there are few if any such animals affecting OS X. You can protect the computer easily using the freeware Open Source virus protection software ClamXAV. Personally I would avoid most commercial anti-virus software because of their potential for causing problems.
    I would also recommend downloading the shareware utility TinkerTool System that you can use for periodic maintenance such as removing old logfiles and archives, clearing caches, etc.
    For emergency repairs install the freeware utility Applejack. If you cannot start up in OS X, you may be able to start in single-user mode from which you can run Applejack to do a whole set of repair and maintenance routines from the commandline. Note that presently AppleJack is not compatible with Leopard.
    When you install any new system software or updates be sure to repair the hard drive and permissions beforehand. I also recommend booting into safe mode before doing system software updates.
    Get an external Firewire drive at least equal in size to the internal hard drive and make (and maintain) a bootable clone/backup. You can make a bootable clone using the Restore option of Disk Utility. You can also make and maintain clones with good backup software. My personal recommendations are (order is not significant):
    1. Retrospect Desktop (Commercial - not yet universal binary)
    2. Synchronize! Pro X (Commercial)
    3. Synk (Backup, Standard, or Pro)
    4. Deja Vu (Shareware)
    5. Carbon Copy Cloner (Donationware)
    6. SuperDuper! (Commercial)
    7. Intego Personal Backup (Commercial)
    8. Data Backup (Commercial)
    The following utilities can also be used for backup, but cannot create bootable clones:
    1. Backup (requires a .Mac account with Apple both to get the software and to use it.)
    2. Toast
    3. Impression
    4. arRSync
    Apple's Backup is a full backup tool capable of also backing up across multiple media such as CD/DVD. However, it cannot create bootable backups. It is primarily an "archiving" utility as are the other two.
    Impression and Toast are disk image based backups, only. Particularly useful if you need to backup to CD/DVD across multiple media.
