How to preserver Face data in Aperture 3.5.1 export to new library ?

In an Aperture 3.5.1 library I add some face names and export smart albums to a new Aperture 3.5.1 library. However, in the new library, when I create a smart album of Faces that include a name I had added in the old library, the album is empty. The face name is a valid name and photos with that name can be seen in the Faces view. How do I properly export albums to a new library so that the new library will allow me to create smart albums based on Face info?
Is this an Aperture 3.5.1 bug ?
Thanks

In an Aperture 3.5.1 library I add some face names and export smart albums to a new Aperture 3.5.1 library.
How did you export the albums to a new library? Like this?
Select the album in Aperture and use the command "File > Export > Album as new library"
Open the exported library in Aperture and all Faces were there with the correct name.
However, in the new library, when I create a smart album of Faces that include a name I had added in the old library, the album is empty. The face name is a valid name and photos with that name can be seen in the Faces view.
Same here. At first, the smart album was empty. I tried all variants of smart rules "Face is", Face includes" etc., and the smart album stayed empty.
Then I simply edited the name label in the Faces stack and reentered the name, exactly as it has been. Also, I clicked the -button and edited the full name again, and that sufficed, for the smart album to populate again.
It looks like Aperture would need to reindex the Faces names.
This looks indeed like a bug.

  • How to download all data (music.contacts, apps) from iPhone to a new PC ?

How to download all data (music.contacts, apps) from iPhone to a new PC ?
I mean to say that I downloaded mp3 songs from websites (not from iTunes) which I synced in my iPhone 4 using ''Manaually Manage Music''.
Now I am in my homecountry for vacations and don't have the laptop in which my iTune library is synced and I need to add more songs to my iPhone but when I put more songs to my iPhone it tells me that all current data from iPhone will be deleted.
    Please help!

The iphone is not a backup device.  The music sync is one way - computer to iphone.  The only exception is itunes purchases.  Without syncing:  File>Transfer Purchases.
" I need to add more songs to my iPhone but when I put more songs to my iPhone it tells me that all current data from iPhone will be deleted."
    That is correct.

  • How do I edit data source when opening Lumira project on a new PC?

I have been working on a project in Lumira for a client of the company I work for. The idea is that I build the Lumira project for them (with the goal of them being able to analyse data from their logistics department), and I then hand the completed project over to them, from which point they are able to update the data on a weekly basis.
I have been updating the data (which is derived from an excel spreadsheet) for a number of weeks with no issue at all, and the client is thoroughly impressed with it, and with the capabilities of Lumira. The problem is that when I want to share the project with the client, ie. by allowing them to open it and edit it on their own computers I am unable to do so.
This is the procedure I follow:
From My Documents, I open the folder named SAP Lumira Documents, select the project in question, and email it to the intended recipients.
From there, I instruct the recipients to open SAP Lumira, select File>Import to folder, and then select the project.
When the project is open, it works and interacts perfectly, but at this point, I want the client to be able to do the following:Select Data>Edit; to allow them to specify a new data source (which is identical to the one upon which the project is built), and therefore be able to update the data as and when necessary, without my help.
When I do this, however, I receive the following error:
Unable to find file "File Name & Location"
How do I work my way around this? I could rebuild the project on a computer at the client’s premises, but the idea is that many people are able to use this project, and refresh the data. So it is obviously impractical for me to rebuild this multiple times. I would really appreciate your assistance with this.

To elaborate on Tammy's idea, you could use for instance C:\Users\Public at the place where you initially put your Excel file to make sure this is found on the target computer. I would consider this a workaround though.
Or for Lumira documents that you already designed, change the location of the Excel file and use Data/Edit from your computer, then save the Lumira documents before sending them to the target audience.
From my humble opinion, the product should allow to use Data/Edit and change the source file even if the initial file path is no longer found. This should be possible for your target audience.

  • How do I correctly go about syncing my iPod touch to a new library?

Hi, I have a 3rd generation iPod Touch. Back in 2009, I synced it up to a pretty old computer. At the time, the newest version of iTunes worked perfectly on it. But since a few months after that, my computer was not able to support the most current version of iTunes available at the time. After a while of trial and error, I gave up on syncing my iPod Touch to the computer. But now, I have ordered a 5th generation iPod touch, and would like to transfer what was on my old iPod, to it. I do have a different (and newer) computer that I am now wanting to sync up both iPods to, so they could share information. I'm thinking I need to re-sync my old iPod to my old computer and transfer all the new apps, songs, and what not. But I'm not sure what to exactly do after that. If syncing to a new library only erases songs and video, I could put them on a USB and download them to my new computer. So when I sync my old iPod to the new computer, the erased data would be already there. And I could just re- download it. The main problem with my theory is, I'm not sure what syncing to a new library actually does to an iPod Touch, or any iPod for that matter. I've been anxious about this, since my iPod Touch is very important to me. I've been using it almost everyday since I first received it. Any help on this would would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!!
    -Becca

I tried to sync my iPod to my laptop because i was on holidays and found out i needed to download all of the apps that were on my iPod into to the AppStore before i plugged my iPod into it otherwise when you sync it, it will copy what apps are on the computer/laptop AppStore (if there arent any it wll erase all of the apps on your iPod) so just simply download all of the apps that are on your iPod on to your computer and then sync it but remember to set up a backup! (i dont know how to set up a backup so dont ask me) Good Luck !

  • Can anyone tell me how to import current data from apps when I upgrade to a new phone?

    Hi,
When activating my new iPhone 5S, after syncing my old 3GS to iTunes then immediately syncing the new phone, the data in some of my apps that was imported was very, very old. Examples are entries in Calengoo, entries in Due, and entries in Balance. In all of those apps, the information that was imported onto my new phone was from last fall, late September or early October. I resolved the issue with Calengoo and with Due, but not yet with Balance. Also, the podcasts that were imported onto my new phone were not the ones that are currently downloaded onto my old phone. I must be doing something wrong on the sync of the old phone (? or so I guess)?
If anyone can help me get it straight, I'd be most grateful.
    Thanks,
    Chris

Thanks Jim. If I create a backup, can I use that to only import certain apps, or will that backup replace what's currently on my new phone? If that does happen, I figure I can sync the new phone to iTunes, use the backup created from the old phone to bring that info to the new phone, then use the sync I just made to bring back the information / apps I've since added to my new phone?
    Thanks!

  • How do I Transfer Data from my B/W G3 to my new Macbook Pro by firewire?

I just bought a new Macbook Pro and want to move my photo and music files from my G3 to my new computer as efficiently as possible. I thought firewire was the way to go but just learned that I cant put my G3 in target mode. Does anyone have any ideas about this? Thanks!

Macs running 7.5.3 or later can share files easily with Macs running any version of Mac OS X up to 10.3.9, and with a little more complexity any Mac OS X through 10.4.10.
The learning curve is a bit steeper. But this illustrated article will guide you:
    http://homepage.mac.com/car1son/os9xnet_nfilesharing.html
Mac OS X 10.4 was revised to make room for Intel Protocols, and AppleTalk-only File Sharing was removed \[AppleTalk Printer Sharing still works]. To do File Sharing with Macs before Mac OS 9, you must initiate the Sharing from the Older Mac or use a third-party program called Shareway IP:

  • Is there anyway of sharing faces data in Iphoto amongst multiple users

As an organisation we are tagging photos with faces so that we can create a gallery of names.  Is it possible to share this faces data between users?  When I export the photos to someone elses photo stream the faces data is not  transferred

How many faces will be in your gallery?
The only way to annotate shared photos is the "comment" field in a Shared Photo Stream. And the filename will be transferred. So, either comment each face when sharing, a lot of work, or add the name of the person to the filenames.
Or consider to create a separate iPhoto library for this project and send copies of the iPhoto Library to your co workers at regular intervals. If only one person needs access to the faces data at a time, you could keep the iPhoto library on a portable drive. See this support document:

  • How I can do data management for classification ?

    Hi
How I can do data management for classification.
If I have new class and I want to add this class to a lot of materials, how can I do that? Is there a transaction to add and also to manage the data in the classification by mass?
    Vijay

CLMM is the transaction for mass maintenance.
there you click set an change values button
    you enter your class type.
in assingments tab you enter the new class
in target objs to enter the material number that need to get this new class assigned. (you can search the materials with the class they have currently and adopt the hits)

  • How do I get backed up Aperture files into my new iMac correctly?

Here's the deal.  My 4 year old iMac HD failed.  My the Time Machine backup software in the Time Capsule was somehow corrupted so I could't just restore or Migrate the files to my new iMac.  I was able to retrieve the actual "Pictures" folder from my TC.  Temporarily I have placed them in a folder on my new iMac's desk top.  I reloaded Aperture 3 and am now wanting to be able to populate Aperture as it was before with my photos with photos that have been post processed showing all of those changes...etc.  Is it as simple as moving all of these files to the new iMac's "Pictures" folder in my User?  I don't want to mess this up!
    Thanks for any help!
    Greg

    Hello Greg,
that looks like you imported some of your masters as referenced. You best put those folders in exactly the similar position inside the Pictures folder as you originally had them on your old drive.
Then use Aperture to consolidate them into your new library.
First you need to reconnect them to the versions:
That is best done by creating a smart album that contains all images that need reconnecting: Define a smart album with the rule:  File status is offline (or missing), depending on what you see.
Then select all images in that album and select "File -> Locate Referenced Files" from the menu.
You now should see a dialogue that shows the images that need reconnecting in the upper part of the window, and a file chooser in the lower part.
In the File chooser select the coorect master files corresponding to the missing files in the upper part of the window.
If you are lucky, the reconnect all button will become active and you can reconnect your masters.

  • When I use Export Project to New Library in Aperture does it create a copy of the images in the new Library?

I am going through my only library now and trying to better organize everything.  I am grouping my images into projects by year then cleaning up each year.  As I finish a year I use the Export to New Library option to create a library for each year.  My question is when I do this and I tell it to Consolidate Masters into exported library does it create copies of the images in the new library as well as leaving a copy in the original library?  My goal once I get this completed is to delete the original library but I certainly don't want to lose any of my images.  Just looking at file sizes for the libraries I can see that the main library never gets smaller and the new libraries don't really seem large enough to contain everything.
    Thanks.

To be honest a 6 year old machine with 4gb of memory and 300gb of disk running Lion and Aperture  is not going to give you the greatest performance no matter how you split the library.
You're going to need more disk, What's your backup procedure now? The best performance will be had by getting an external disk putting the masters on it as referenced and having the library on the internal drive.
More memory would be nice but a 6 year old iMac, I think, is maxed out at 4. You'll need to keep other programs running to a minimum when you're working with Aperture.
How much free space is on the internal drive? That will be an issue also. If even with the masters relocated to an external drive cause the internal drive to fill up you'll need to move the library off the internal. If you do that you'll want to go with a FW drive. As long as only the masters are on the external you can get by with a USB but once the library goes out there you're really want to look at FW.
Hope this helps, post back if you have more questions
    regards

  • How do I import folders from one library to another? My original library has become to large and I want to split it. There is not enough memory to select all the folders I want to move to create a new library.

I also created a new library and tried file-import but cannot see / access any files in the original aperture library with that command.

If you use the Command to Export Project as New Library, then such a Library can be imported into another Library with the command to  Import Library/Project.  The first such export as New Library can be the"seed' Library for starting the process.
But the most important point is there is no performance gain from small Libraries where you think one has become too large, if the new Library is to be on the same disk drive as the original.  My primary library is 1 TB in size, and works as well as tiny test libraries.
