How to prevent auto download dialog in LR 5

I prefer to use Bridge to download and store my photos.  Each time I insert a camera card into my card reader, the Lightroom download comes up.  Then I need to work my way out of Lightroom in order to perform the download in Bridge.
Is there some way to prevent the auto initiation of this download dialog?

I looked in Preferences several times.  That is the problem with getting
old.   The mind does not work as well as it usta.
Thanks

  • How to prevent automatic download and install of Reader 8.1.2

    Hi-
I have Adobe Reader 7.0.9 and I need to keep it as my default Adobe reader program and plug-in for some applications that I use.
Over the last week, Adobe reader 8.1.2 downloads automatically and installs itself in my business laptop (Win XP SP2) and replaces my 7.0.9 version.
Each time I uninstall the 8.1.2 and reinstall the 7.0.9. I ensure the option of automatic download and install is disabled in 7.0.9.
But it still happens I have for the xth time today the new 8.1.2 in my laptop.
Anybody knows what is going on ? And how can I solve this issue to keep my 7.0.9 version ?
    Thanks.

This nonsense is happening right now on my iPhone.  2.3GB deleted, now iOS 8 is downloading without my consent.
That's *not* a good thing to hear.
After the download finishes, do NOT press the Install Now button. Try the following to remove the download from the device. Here's the procedure I came up with last time this happened with iOS 7...It may or may not work.
Re: Apple Forced iOS7 update on my iPad2 !
Afterwards if you succeed, block Apple's update server using the following method so it wont get pushed to the device again:
In your router's settings, set up a block (using Access Restrictions or similar in the router's web interface) to mesu.apple.com. This will prevent the devices from "phoning home" to Apple, checking for the update and getting the download pushed to it again.
Or follow the instructions at this link:

  • How to get file download dialog box in IE 6.0 for .CSV files?

In our Java application, when we download .csv file (by clicking a tool bar button or menu item) in IE 5.5, it brings up the download dialog box and when we click the open button it opens the file in a seperate browser window but after migrating to IE 6.0 it doesn't bring the download dialog box and we are not able to open the excle sheet in a new browser window.
We tried downloading .csv file in IE 6.0 by changing its extension(such as .cs1 and .xls) even then it did not work.We also tried associating CSV type of extension with "Microsoft Excel Comma Separated Values File" in the Windows folder options (Windows Explorer->tools->folder options->file types(tab)), which did not work.
Please respond if you have come across this kind of issue and solution for the same.
    Thanks in Advance

This has nothing to do with Java. It's Microsoft
setting for known file type. IE is responding to the
setting which will automatically download known file
    type (MIME type).
To show the "Save As" file dialog, you have to do the
    following (for each file type)
    1. open Window Explorer
    2. click on Tool-->"Folder Option"
    3. click on the "File Type" tab
    4. select the extension and then click on the
    "Advance" button
    5. Check the "Confirm open after download" checkbox
    6. Click OK
IE should now display the "Save As" file dialog for
that extension. Remeber, you have to to this for all
extension you want to see a "file dialog" pop up.Unfortunately this is not the only cause. Even with this box checked, downloading java source files from the pages of The Java Tutorial causes them to open in the most recent IE - I (and others also) don't get the save/open dialog box. Java source files downloaded from (some) other websites result in the save/open dialog box. I believe that one of the security changes that MS made in IE's handling of files is the cause. The setting of content-disposition by the server appears to be the key, according to MSDN information.

  • HT1977 how to stop auto downloads and taking money from my account

Please help,my itunes account started downloading apps and taking my money. What do i do to stop this

I have never heard of the app store automatically downloading apps if the user did not initiate the download by entering their password first. Sign out of your account and that should stop it.
If someone shares an Apple ID with you, then you might be seeing the downloads that they have purchased and that is why this happening - i f you have auto downloads turned on in Settings > Store > Automatic Downloads > Apps > On.
Does anyone share your Apple ID?

  • How to prevent auto font substitution in Photoshop CS5?

Previously in CS4 you could open a PSD with missing fonts and have the file still open and display the font properly on screen. Only if you tried to edit that type layer would it auto subsitute and force you to update the font. Now in CS5, just opening the PSD auto substitutes all missing fonts to Myriad. How do you prevent that from happening? It's really irratating. Thanks all that respond.

    Gotta agree with screenname_1001 here.
I've seen several files open, warn me that a font is missing giving "OK" or "Cancel" options. Upon clicking "OK" the font is automatically substituted with Myriad Pro and there's no way of knowing what the original font was.
I've opened files in Graphics Converter or Preview to simply figure out what the font name was.
I have not ruled out font management software as the issue though. This may simply be a symptom of having FontAgent Pro installed.

  • How to stop auto download of SD versions of TV shows?

I buy lots of TV shows from the iTunes store and everything I watch on my laptop is in HD. However, iTunes INSISTS on downloading both the HD and SD versions of every episode. And even if I pause and delete the SD downloads, as soon as I buy a new program iTunes starts downloading ALL SD versions of every show that exists on my hard drive. So at this point it means I have to go in an pause/delete dozens and dozens of SD downloads of shows that I have already watched!
How can I tell iTunes to ONLY download the HD version? Help!

To the best of my knowledge, there is no way to prevent the automatic downloading of the SD version when you buy an HD show.
You can, if you wish, suggest that the ability to prevent the SD version from downloading through the iTunes feedback page. But since the SD version is needed for use on iPods and there at least at present is no mechanism for someone to download the SD version at a later time should they decide they need it, Apple may just continue to force the downloading of both versions. If they get enough feedback on the issue, though, they may figure something out.
    Regards.

  • Data Modeler: How to prevent auto surrogate key in supertype/subtypes?

When forward engineering supertype/subtypes, how can I prevent the automatic creation of a surrogate key (propagated to all super/subs)? Data Modeler creates this SK only at the relational level. I have already defined a surrogate identifier in the logical; the intent is to engineer this to the relational model and propagate to each subtype.
    Thanks,
    Patrick

Thank you Philip for the explanation. I'd like to dig into this a little deeper, as I may be misinterpreting your explanation, and especially the last bit ( "...but foreign keys from subtype table to super-type table are not created" ).
My preferred super/subtype implementation consists of a supertype parent table (ideally with a [manually created] discriminator code value) and any number of subtype child tables, all referencing the parent (via FK column/RI). Note that RI is from the supertype/parent to each subtype/child table, not the other way round as Designer docs suggest (one of three different approaches: all-inclusive single-table, detail tables only, master/detail w/ RI from child to parent [arced]). The implementation I suggest ("the fourth way") allows the painless addition of a new subtype simply by creating a new child table and a new discriminator value for the parent. I've had consistent success using this approach with Designer for many years.
I've verified this successfully with a bare bones logical (3 levels), with appropriate UID on supertype/parent. All seems to transform well to relational model (i.e., all tables have inherited the parent PK, and individual attributes transformed to columns in the appropriate tables). The transform did not include a SurrogateID column.
However, the transform doesn't work quite so well in my full-blown Party model, even though I ensured that a UID was defined on the logical supertype/parent. also confirmed that Hierarchy relationships are defined between supertypes and subtypes. What else could I be doing wrong that causes the transform to create a SurrogateID column on each super/subtype table?
And on a similar note: are you suggesting that SQLDev Modeler transforms a supertype/subtype hierarchy with RI from detail tables to the parent table (i.e., backwards) when selecting "Table for each entity"? This approach would require a new FK column added to the parent table whenever a new subtype table was required.

  • How to prevent "Sign in" dialog on first launch of Visual Studio Express 2013?

I am installing Visual Studio Express 2013. When I launch application shortcut for first time, It shows "sign in" window, which I want to hide for the users. This window also overrides all my settings (e.g. disabled "automatic check for
updates"). Is there any way to prevent this dialog from appearing?

    Hi,
    >>I was looking for file or registry settings to suppress this dialog
As far as I know, there is no way to realize this. It is by design. Since the users will sign in later, why need to suppress the dialog. What's more, this is an express edition, so you can't find any third-party add-in to help hide the dialog because Visual
Studio Express doesn't support third-party add-ins. The only way you want the dialog not showing is to click "cancel" button the first time the dialog pop up. After that, you still can sign in if you want to. Click "Help", choose "register product", then
you can sign in the appearing dialog.

  • How to prevent basic auth dialog box?

    Hi all,
I have a webservice protected with basic authtentication.
From my understanding I thought it would be possible to prompt the
user for a user name and password using a flex form and then do a
setCredentials on the WebService object to provide the server with
the needed info, thus avoiding the broswers dialog box.
However this does not work and I still get the browser dialog
box. Even worse if I log out of the flex application and try and
log in as a new user it seems the old credentials are cached by the
browser so the new user get security errors as the flex usernam and
basic auth username do not match up. This is how the app has been
    coded.
    Any idea?
    thanks

I'm sorry you're question is not clear to me. Please explain a bit further.

  • How to prevent auto reboot, springboard crash & going to safe mode?

iPhone 3GS used on 3.1.2 and now upgraded to 4.0.1
    Problems:
    * It crashes automatically & reboots
    * When left idle screen goes blank, no response, caller hear the bell ringing but phone indicates nothing. Finally requires a force reboot. I don't see any missed calls too (only with 4.0.1 and did not observe with 3.1.2)
    * Start any application and app crashes, sometime springboard crashes and goes to safe mode, even just sliding for unlock causes the crash
    * I observe this problem even immediately after restore, nothing additional installed

Is this looking like to be a hardware problem?
Can I take it to any apple store & get fixed?

  • How to turn off email auto download?

    Hi All,
I'm running Tiger (10.4) on one hard drive and I'm running Leopard (10.5) on another - working on familiarizing myself and looking for problems. 10.4 uses Mail.app 2.1.3 while 10.5 uses Mail.app 3.5.
With Mail 3.5 - I've been unable to find a way to switch from auto-downloading of emails in favor of "Manual." This "feature" of auto-dowloading emails has always bugged me (a lot). So I use "Manual" downloading with v. 2.1.3. and want the same "sanity" with 3.5.
Secondary problems: I notice that 3.5 cannot verify the certificate of my ISP Pop server and keeps warning me "this may be a fake certificate" and gives me options to "stop" or "connect." Geez, there's no doubt about the SAME certificate when using Mail.app 2.1.3.
Also, it appears that Mail 3.5 is taking "forever" to send (upload) image attachments. I haven't had a chance to really track this down, but it seems like Mail may be converting every .jpg file to .png - which increases file size. I watched the Activity window and saw upload speeds of from 0 to 2.7 kbs - but suddenly the indicator bar jumps ehead and the mail is sent.
Any have any idea how to stop auto-downloading of emails with Mail.app 3.5?
Any further help with those secondary problems will also be appreciated.
    TX in advance.

Thanks Klaus1 - it's interesting to see that Apple designers still have not caught on to the idea that "icons" for important things need to be distinguishable from one another.
That is, the icon for the overall preferences panel (in 10.4) looks a whole lot like the icon used for Mail 3.5 prefs (in 10.5) and it's located in the same spot as overall prefs on Mail 2.1.5. So I naturally thought the icon on 3.5 was for "overall prefs" and ignored it. Thanks Apple, for letting your employees take so many naps during their work shifts.
You get a "helpful" for your post. Now if I can get responses on the slow upload (on DSL) by Mail.app and figure out why it doesn't recognize my (national based) ISP's certificate, I'll be a happy camper.

  • How can I prevent shows/movies from auto-downloading?

    Hello,
I'm looking for a way to keep my iTunes purchases from using up several hundred gigabytes of hard drive space, and I'm really confused about how to go about doing that.
Let me give an example of the problem:
After I purchase a movie, I'll let iTunes download it and then I'll watch it once. After that, I won't really have any reason to watch the same movie again for a few months or even years. In the meantime, it's just sitting there taking up hard drive space.
Since the iTunes store has already logged my purchase of that movie, shouldn't I just be able to go download that file whenever I feel like it, and delete it from my hard drive when it's not needed?  I think that's a pretty logical approach, and it's kind of the whole point of having all of the media hosted on a central iTunes server.
This is how a lot of other digital media distribution services work - for example, the Steam platform for video games. You can download a game and play it whenever you want, and just delete it when you're done. You can always re-download it later. I figured that iTunes would work the same way.
However, if I delete an item from my library, then iTunes seems to cosntantly want to automatically download it again. I guess I could just perpetually pause the download, but that seems odd. I want to just delete the file for now - I can always download it again later.
I experimented with disabling the "Always Check For Available Downloads" button, but when I do that, I'm not sure how to manually start downloading files that I want.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks and Best Regards,
    Brett

If it's gmail, go to their website and look for the "recent" feature.
Otherwise, and I'm assuming this is IMAP, it's just doing what it's supposed to do; showing you what is on the server. Your best choice is to go to the email provider's website, put messages you don't need to see into their own folder(s) and don't subscribe such folders in Thunderbird.
If it's POP then a new account in Thunderbird doesn't know what you've seen before, so simply gets it all. Beware, it will almost certainly be '''moving '''all the messages from server to client, so don't start deleting things just yet. The "other folders" technique described for IMAP should work here too, as POP doesn't see folders on the server other than the Inbox.
