I make ntfs permission read only to users to view files only but i want to prevent them from take copy of these files outside this shared folder to their own pc

I'm afraid it is impossible. If User have permission to read, you cannot stop them from copying files.

That's odd - if you open Disk Utility (Applications->Utilities) and select the disk(s), how are they formatted? If you're only going to be used with your Mac, they should be formatted as "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)".

open your home folder in finder move file to public, log into other account, click the go tab on the finder menu, select computer, your hard drive (Macintosh HD Default)>Users, the origonal user> public and drag that file to your specified folder.

I am a new customer (purchased last week) of MacBookPro (latest) and its my first ever Apple laptop.
I am almost lost to find the operating tools.
1. How can I copy files from hard drive to computer and vis-a-versa?
2. Only can browse one but how can I have two or more browses at the same time like in MS windows?
3. No right click works on track pad?
4. Is there application/ program compatible to MS office? If so how much and how can I purchase?
5. Is there AutoCAD program that is compatible to MS Window AutoCAD? and if yes how much and how can I purchase?

Khagendra Limbu1) For some reason this happens once in a while with FAT32 enabled external harddrives. I have no idea why this happens but it most easily solved by reformatting the drive. First make sure you've copied everything from the external drive to your internal harddrive. You've done this earlier so I assume you know how to do this.
Now the reformatting part. Open Finder and go to Applications. Look for the folder called "Utilities". Click on it. In it you find a program called "Disk Utility". Click on it. Now look for the external drive. You probably see two entries for the disk. Click on the one that contains the name of the drive NOT the one that describes the disk (Like for example 320.07 GB Samsung S2 Portable Media).
Now you see four tabs in the righthand part of the window. They're called "First Aid", "Erase", "RAID" and "Restore". Click on "Erase". This opens the tab with (amongst others) a dropdownbox (Format) and a textbox (Name) . In the dropdownbox select "Mac OS Extended (Journaled). Take note! This selection disables usage of the drive with Windows PC's. If your goal is to share the drive with Windows PC's select the MS-DOS FAT option.
Enter a label for the drive in the textbox Name. Now click on the button "Erase". This will format the drive.
Now when it's done you can copy back all the items you've copied to your internal harddrive earlier.
2) Opening two windows like Explorer on Windows is opening two Finder windows on the Mac. Simply click on the background. In the menubar you items like 'Finder", "File", "Edit", "View", et cetera. Click on "File" and "New Finder Window". Do this two times. Alternatively you can click on the background and press CMD-N two times.
3) You can right click on the trackpad. This however depends on if you've enabled the feature in System Preferences. In the topmenubar click on the Apple icon and select "System Preferences". Now look for Trackpad in Hardware. Click on it. You see three tabs with the names "Point & Click", "Scroll & Zoom" and "More Gestures". Select "Point & Click" and look for "Secondary Click'. Make sure it is checked and make sure it has written "Click or tap with two fingers" written beneath "Secondary Click". When you're done exit System Preferences. Now select the background and tap with two fingers on the trackpad. This should open the contextuel menu with options like "New Folder", "Get Info" et cetera. -

There are many methods, however you are specific about the type of files you want to move. The first time your Mac turns on it begins with Setup Assistant and asks if you want to migrate from another Mac or PC, you must have missed that. I'd recommend looking over Pondini's Guide and following the directions for using Migration Assistant. You can find them by clicking How to Use Migration Assistant From PC to Mac 10.7 Lion.
If you have specific files you are attempting to migrate then moving them to an external HD and then just dragging and dropping them from the EHD to the Mac would be very simple. Apple explains migration strategies in Switch 101 -

More then likely that external drive is formatted the Windows NTFS format which Mac OS X can Read but it can not Write to that format. So you would need to copy all the data off that drive, to either a Windows PC or to your Mac, thenn use the Mac to format it for the Mac OS. Which would be Mac Extended (Journaled) with a Partition Table of GUID.
If you want to use that drive on both Mac and PC then you would need to format it either FAT32 or exFAT. -

When you try to copy data to the external drive, what happens? If you don't see any error, the external drive is formatted in NTFS, and OS X can't write in it.
To be able to write on this external drive, you have to use an app like Paragon NTFS. Another solution would be to format the external drive in FAT32 or exFAT with Disk Utility > http://pondini.org/OSX/DU1.html Make sure you copied all the files of the external disk to the internal disk before doing it -

Bridge is just a file Browser, nothing more and nothing less. It doesn't create folders of its own and it doesn't keep image files in the application itself.
You don't "paste" anything "into" Bridge. You just navigate Bridge to the other drive where the images are, point it toward said files, and Bridge will show them to you.
Once you find your files, you can use Bridge to move them or copy them to wherever you want. They will never be "inside" Bridge. As soon as you disconnect the other hard drive, Bridge will have no record of them unless you copy them over to a drive that is always attached to your computer, such as your boot drive or another internal drive.

As far as I know, there is a module called SELinux in Fedora Core to protect the DOCUMENT_ROOT.I guess i just dont get it. chalk it up to a language barrier, or me not understanding...
if you script is not executable (noexecute setting in apache, not in filesystem) then it shouldn't matter..
if you do want at to be execute, but just want to control "where" it executes, you might consider running a chroot or something early in the script.
and for gods sake..dont allow user input to ever determine a path or filename directly...

Connect your iPod to your computer. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button: Managing content manually on iPod
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you have any iTMS purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. A paragraph on it has been added to this article: Transfer iTunes Store purchases using iPod
The transfer of non iTMS content such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows. If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up in case you have problems again. Relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay. -
How Do I Copy File Names & Folders From A Hard Drive To A Word Document?

This may sound silly but I am having a herd time with the following - seemingly simple task.
I have data DVD-Rs with audio files organized into folders. Each folder contains audio files related to the folder name.
I would like to copy the file names and folders from a DVD-R and paste them into a MS Word file. I am just looking to get a listing of files as they appear on the DVD-Rs in their folders.
The problem is that when I copy and paste, the order changes (seemingly randomly) and the file names are no longer under the folder names. In fact, the whole thing looks to be really random.
Anybody know how to copy file/folder names from a hard drive or DVD-R to a word document and retain the file/folder structure?

LAHDThere is an even easier method with no Terminal magic required. In the Finder, select all the files you want the names of, press Command-C, switch to Word and press Command-V. Poof, your done.
If you view the DVD in List VIew, you can expand the folders you want the files for, then select all the files (and their folders if you want them too) and then do the Copy/Paste thing.
