How to prevent duplicate records
Hello all,
This is just a general query. How do we prevent duplicate records at data target level(ODS/InfoCube).
Thanks
S N
Hi,
for ODS you can either specify in settings option "unique records" (only first combination of keys is saved, second one throws error message) or you can define "overwrite" for update rules to ODS (last occurrence of record is saved).
For InfoCubes I think there isn't such setting and there is no possibility of overwriting existing records. So you have to load first to an ODS object to ensure unique records and update from ODS to InfoCube.
Best regards,
Björn

How to avoid Duplicate Records while joining two tables
Hi,
I am trying to join three tables, basically two tables are same one is like history table, so I wrote a query like
select
e.id,
e.seqNo,
e.name,
d.resDate,
d.details
from employees e,
((select * from dept)union(select * from dept_hist)) d
join on d.id=e.id and e.seqno=d.seqno
but this returing duplicate records.
Could anyone please tell me how to avoid duplicate records of this query.Actually it is like if the record is processed it will be moved to hist table, so both table will not have same records and I need the record from both the tables so i have done the union of both the tables, so d will have the union of both records.
But I am getting duplicate records if even I am distinct. -

How to prevent duplicate entry in Details block
Dear All
I am using Forms 10g.
I have a detail block.
There is a column called Ip_Address.
There i want to prevent duplicate entry .
How can i do this ?hey i have a requirement that to restrict duplicate entry in both block(both multi record).the blocks are DEPT(MATER)
EMP(DETAIL)
the associated fieds in master block DEPT.DEPT_NO,in detail EMP.EMP_ID .
I have done' Kevin D Clarke’s calculated item ' both in master and detail block
its working fine for master block but in case of detail block its only respond to the current session(i.e. if the new value is inserted or save it will restrict another record to be inserted of that last record's value),it does not restrict duplicate value enter ,checking with other existing records(which are saved in earlier session,though after query it is shown on the form)
can anyone guide me why its not working -
Prevent Duplicate Record with Validation
Hello,
Can someone suggest to me how I can check a form such that it does not have a duplicate record, when a user either saves or creates the record?
In particular, I am looking at 2 fields in a record as the criterai for determine duplicity:
select PEOPLE_ID, DEPT_ID
from AN_PEOPLEDEPT
where PEOPLE_ID = :P12_PEOPLE_ID and
DEPT_ID = :P12_DEPT_ID
It would be nice to know how to make this work with only one validation in a page definition.
Thank you for your comments.
Regards,
Colin.1. Create a validation.
2. Choose "Page Level"
3. Choose "SQL"
4. Choose "Exists"
5. Give it a name and choose "Inline in notification"
6. Enter your query, simaler to the one I posted before but using your table name and your items
That's it. Essentially, you can create validations that display the error next to the item (won't work for you as it's just one item), display the error on an error page forcing the user to go back a page to edit the form (not ideal), or in the Notification area at the top of the page (as determined by your page template). The latter is the one your want. The validation will query your table based on the values of your two items. If there is a row that matches the values of the 2 items, then it will show the form again with an error message at the top. Just try following the steps I detailed above. After you create a validation or two, this should make sense.
Please listen to my advice about adding a unique index on the table as well. An ORA-XXXX error is ugly which is why I'm glad you're doing it with an HTML DB validation too, but the unique index will insure that you NEVER have dupes in your table. I can't stress this enough. Think about the check engine light on a modern car. It gives you a "pretty" reminder that something is wrong (low oil, too hot), but will typically shut the engine down before any real damage is done. We want the friendly reminder so we can get it to a mechanic, but the real safe-guard is under the covers and prevents any real damage from occuring, even if people ignore the warning light (no "wife ignoring the low oil light" jokes here please).

Prevent duplicate records?
hi
can any one tell me
how can i prevent the user from typing duplicate records into a tabular form? which trigger should i use?and how to do that?
and also how to restrict inserting duplicate records into my table throw a code which will be in my form.Kevin in his post said
>>
Although you cannot normally read other records in a multi row block without navigating to them, I have found a cunning method to do this validation using the power of calculation properties. You need three extra hidden fields, two of which have calculation properties, and a little function. (If you want to see how it works, try making the hidden fields visible).
Form program unit:
function COMPARISON (in1 number, in2 number) is
if in1 = in2 then
return(1);
else
return(0);
end if;
end;
3 new hidden fields:
CONTROL.PK_COPY
DATABLOCK.MATCH_FOUND
calculation mode: formula
formula: COMPARISON(:control.PK_COPY, :datablock.PK)
CONTROL.NUMBER_OF_MATCHES
calculation_mode: summary
summary_function: Sum
summarised_block: DATABLOCK
summarised_item: MATCH_FOUND
WHEN_VALIDATE_ITEM on DATABLOCK.PK
:control.pk_copy := :datablock.pk;
if :control.number_of_matches > 1 then
message('matching key found');
end if;
(DATABLOCK must have query_all_records = TRUE)

what do i have to name my fields and what to do in each field?

How to delete Duplicate records in IT2006
Dear Experts
We have a situation like where we have duplicate records with same start and end dates in IT2006. This is because of the incorrect configuration which we have corrected now, but we need to do a clean-up for the existing duplicate records. Any idea on how to clean it? I ran report RPTKOK00 to find these duplicates but I could not delete the duplicate/inconsistenct record using report RPTBPC10 or HNZUPTC0, i Could only delete the deductions happened in the record.
Is there any standard report/any other means of deleting the duplicate records created in IT2006?
Thanks in advance for all your help.
Regards
Vignesh.You could probably use se16n to identify the duplicates and create the list of quotas to delete, and you could probably use t-code lsmw to write up a script to delete them, but be aware that you can't delete a Quota if it's been deducted from.
You'd have to delete the Absence/Attendance first, then delete the Quota, then recreate the Absence/Attendance. -
How to delete duplicate records in cube
Hi,
can u help me how to delete the duplicate records in my cube
and tell me some predifined cubes and data sourcess for MM and SD modulesHi Anne,
about "duplicate records" could you be more precise?.
The must be at least one different Characteristic to distinguish one record from the other (at least Request ID). In order to delete Data from InfoCubes (selectively) use ABAP Report RSDRD_DELETE_FACTS (be carefull it does not request any confirmation as in RSA1 ...).
About MM and SD Cubes see RSA1 -> Business Content -> InfoProvider by InfoAreas. See also for MetadataRepository about the same InfoProviders.
About DataSources just execute TCode LBWE in you source sys: there you see all LO-Cockipt Extrators.
Hope it helps (and if so remember reward points)

How to delete duplicate record in Query report
Hi Experts,
I had created an infoset and query in my sap, but I want to delete some duplicate records before the list out put.Please can we add some further codes in the Extras code to delete duplicates? And how do it? Would you please give me a simple brief.
JoeHi,
You can try to restrict in the filter area in query designer with the values for characteristic which gives correct
result.
But still i would suggest that in the cube you keep not the duplicate records as this is not your requirement and giving
you wrong result.
So you can reload the correct records in the cube inorder to avoid such problems even in future.

Hi All,
I have list with some Lookup columns like City, Pin, and Text Column Name. All these are required columns.
Now I want to prevent duplicates while submitting InfoPath form if a Combination of City,Pin & Name. (like a Composite primary in Database is used.)
Can some one help me on how to achieve this using InfoPath 2010 Rules, writing rule in Xpath.
Thanks in Advance.1. Add a secondary data connection to the list where the form will be submitted.
2. Prior to submit via rules, set the query fields in the above connection: City, Pin & Name with values entered in the form. Query the data source and check if the result has values.
3. Show error messages accordingly if exists else continue with Submit.

How to delete Duplicate records from the informatica target using mapping?
Hi, I have a scenario like below: In my mapping I have a source, which may containg unique records or duplicate records. Source and target are different tables. I have a target in my mapping which contains duplicate records. Using Mapping I have to delete the duplicate records in the target table. Target table does not contain any surrogate key. We can use target table as a look up table, but target table cannot be used as source in the mapping. We cannot use post SQL.
Hi All, I have multiple flat files which i need to load in a single table.I did that using indirect option at session level.But need to dig out on how to populate substring of header in name column in target table. i have two columns Id and Name. in all input file I have only one column 'id' with header like H|ABCD|Date. I need to populate target like below example. File 1 File2 H|ABCD|Date. H|EFGH|Date.1 42 5 3 6 Target tale: Id Name1 ABCD2 ABCD3 ABCD4 EFGH5 EFGH6 EFGH can anyone help on what should be the logic to get this data in a table in informatica.

How to remove duplicate records? Please help!
^
Dear Friends
I am new comer to this forum and had a simple SQL question. I would appreciate if anyone can help.
Many Thanx!
[email protected]
The Question:
Suppose we have some interviewers who specify the times they are available. At each interview 2 interviewers must be present.
A relation is set up to contain the available times for each interviewer, which has these fields: interviewerID, date, time. For example:
1, 14/12/04, 9:00-10:00
1, 14/12/04, 12:00-1:00
2, 12/11/04, 11:00-12:00
etc.
Then how can we write a SQL query that produces the times during which 2 interviewers are available?
A Possible Answer:
The following query produces the times during which 2 interviewers are available, however it has duplicate records:
SELECT a1.interviewerID, a2.interviewerID, a1.date, a1.time
FROM AvailabileTimes as a1, AvailableTimes as a2
WHERE a1.date = a2.date AND a1.time = a2.time AND a1.interviewerID <> a2.interviewerID
An example of the output is:
1, 2, 12/12/04, 10:00-11:00
1, 3, 14/10/03, 12:00-1:00
2, 1, 12/12/04, 10:00-11:00
etc.
where line 3 is a duplicate of line 1 (only the place of interviewerID is changed)Thanx scott for your quick reply!!
this solves the problem for now, and is a very good idea!
But I was told this might have problems if interviewID field is later changed to something that contains letters instead of a pure numeric value e.g. staffAB-01-ZC.
Do you know what I should do to have a long term solution?
