How to prevent folder being copied

Hi
Anyone have any idea how to lock a folder and it's contents, basically so it cannot be copied, moved off the hard drive onto any external disk or drive or added as an email attachment, without password authorisation.
Will be on 10.5.8, and also possibly 10.6.4
Thanks.

An encrypted dmg
how to create a disk image would be your best bet, IMO.

  • How to prevent SAP to copy a manually typed Item text from PO into Info rec

    Hi SAP gurus
Could you guide me the configuration  to prevent SAP to copy a manually typed Item text from PO into Info record PO text,
    Thanks
    Katta

    Charlie,
I'm having trouble with copying text from Info Record to RFD.
When in Spro I put the fix indicator at <*> or <N>, the the system does what it should.
But when I put the fix indicator at < > blank, then no text is copied.
    Is this normal behaviour ?
    regards,

  • How to prevent layers being removed

    Hello,
How can I stop layers being removed from an illustrator drawing?
for example i have a drawing, i want to share it with a collegue so they can edit it in illustrator but prevent my signature from being removed?
    any ideas?
    Thanks

With inexperienced users you couldtry and  bury it deep down in a hierarchy of clipping masks and/or layers and lock it there. Works better if it is connected with parts of the actual graphic somehow, so that hiding ot deleting one of those masks will hide or delete everything.
To my mind it would be better for your relationship to just trust them. At least you work for them - they must be trustable somehow.

  • Airport how to prevent from being cut off by Netcut

Im using an aiport router connected to my pc, my brother on the other hand is using a program called NetCut which disconnects me from the internet when he feels that i am lagging him. It makes the status connected but no internet connection, is there a way i can prevent this from happening?
is there a way to protect myself from this? also how can i disconnect people off my network wireless and ethernet?

you could place a frame with horizontal elasticity set to shrink around your author's field. make that field fill 90% of the page width and place the date-column beside it.
If you have small number of authors the field should shrink and take the date fied with it.
If you have a very large number of authors the list would occupy 90% of the pagewidth, spread over more than one row, the dat field would be places at the right end of the page at the top.
    hope this helps.

  • How to prevent images being compressed inside Jar?

Hi There. I'm creating an applet that uses a Jar file. The Jar file contains three packages. A problem I'm having is when I create the jar using the switches -cvf all the files including some images that are used are compressed, then when the images are used in my application they are corrupted.
I can switch off the compression entirely using the -0 switch, this fixes the problem but makes my Jar file 1.5 MB instead of 300KB! Is there any way when creating the Jar file to prevent it from compressing the images?
    Thanks.

If you are using ImageIO, you should (for now) wrap the stream into a new BufferedInputStream.
    BufferedImage i = ImageIO.read(new BufferedInputStream(getClass().getResourceAsStream(path)));That does the trick ;)

  • How to prevent workflow being executed at TEST instance

    Hi,
We have a problem where wrokflow are not instance - depended.
I want to have a rule that will be true only if user is at PRODUCTION instance, and will NOT work if user is at TEST instance.
    Any idea?
    Thanks
    Guy

    Hi Guy,
You didn't mention what the trigger was, but if it includes new records created, I have a solution for you.
The record IDs all start with 4 letters, usually 'A' and then the three pod designating letters, (ABJA, ABSA, etc.). In all my customers cases staging and production are on 2 different pods, so what you can do is add a condition to the WF rule saying that the record ID must be LIKE 'ABJA*' (use the 4 letters from production) and it will always trigger in prod, while never triggering in staging.
Again, this will only work for new records created in staging, but that may be enough for you.

How can I prevent a PDF file from being copied, printed or downloaded? Students should only be able to view the text and and not distribute it in any way.

You can prevent it from being printed by applying a security policy to it
in Acrobat. The rest can't be prevented, unless you spend  a LOT of money
    on DRM protection.

  • How can I set iTunes to prevent selected podcasts from being copied to iPod

    Hi,
I have searched and could not find the answer to this problem.
Anyway, I have a 5th gen iPod and am running it on a Mac with the latest iTunes. On the iPod options pane, I have selected to update only the selected Podcasts. I am leaving the podcasts that I do not want on my iPod (but want to keep on my Mac) unselected.
Now although it is true that the unselcted Podcasts to not appear in the Podcast section of my iPod, the files are still there and can be found by artist, album, etc.
How can I get around this? Basically, I have a few gigs of Video Podcasts that I do not want to carry on the iPod but do want o keep on my Mac in iTunes.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Bruno

This was a change in iTunes beginning with iTunes 6. In 5, podcasts were their own category. In 6, you can actually see podcasts in the regular library so they are likely being copied over by some other playlist. You have a few options for handling this.
    • Set the iPod only to copy checked items & uncheck the undesired podcasts.
    • Sync only selected playlists & make sure each smart playlist has is Podcast set to false.
The first option gives you more control over the specific ones you don't want to include while the second applies to all podcasts, not just video.
Also under 6.0.3 there is an iPod Preferences button in the Podcasts section of Preferences. You might be able to limit them there. I'm at work, so I don't have my iPod hooked up to this machine to verify that functionality now.

  • How can I prevent Applications from being copied to external drive?

    Hello,
    Just a quick one...
I run a studio in an education evironment. We've got quite a lot of software installed on our machines (Mac OS X 10.7.4) and there's always the chance that students will copy applications from the Applications folder onto an external drive to take home!
Obviously this is becoming increasingly easy with large USB sticks and Applications which are entirely contained in the Applications folder.
Is there any way that students can still run these applications during class but prevent them from copying the whole applications?
    With thanks in advance,
    Lawrence

You can hide the Applications folder, but it isn't a total solution. Open Terminal and type:
    cd /
    sudo chflags hidden /Applications

  • How can I prevent my images from being copied?

This is a perennial question, but the simple answer is that you can't. It's impossible.
Don't believe snake oil adverts for products that claim to prevent images from being copied. Once an image is displayed on a computer, there are numerous ways of copying it. "Solutions" that prevent users from right-clicking or pressing Print Screen can be disabled by turning off JavaScript in the browser; and screen grabbing software can easily make a copy of an image.
If you want to show your photography on the web, but don't want others to steal your images, consider the following options:
Add a watermark to your images.
Embed copyright information in the metadata of your images.
Save images at low resolution (72dpi is standard on the web, but useless for printing).
The following image uses all three techniques:
You can create a Photoshop action to watermark images. Use the File Info dialog box in Bridge CS4 to add copyright metadata to your images.

I asked a question. Hans was kind enough to give me a solution, and for that I thank him! I have also learned a little more in the process!
We have already established that the solution stops people right clicking on an image and saving the image (be it in Windows Explorer or not), but it has also been established that it is by no means a fool proof way of protecting images and that there are other ways of copying images from a webpage. However, it is another level of protection.
Unfortunately, I do not want to watermark my images as I do not like looking as watermarked images myself. I also downsize my images for the web. I was just looking for another level of protection.
    Thanks for the input anyway!

  • How do i prevent people from copy paste or printing a pdf file when it is uploaded online

i secured a pdf file through acrobat pro ix, with password thus preventing it from being printed and copy paste. But when i upload it to a website, people are able to print and copy paste... how do i prevent people from copy paste or printing a pdf file when it is uploaded online

You can make sure that you use Adobe Reader as a PDF Viewer in the browser, although some browsers do not work with Adobe Reader.

  • TS3276 On received mail, I delete sender's name, address, etc. then forward it.  The forwarded mail has a duplicate of the original mail, show original sender's name, etc.  How to prevent the duplicate from being sent?

How to prevent duplicate of orginal mail (with original sender's name, address) being "attached" when forwarded?

Maybe I am mis-understanding what you are seeing.
When I forward a message, the receiver will see the original mail (unless I edit it, such as removing any previous sender's information) and the length will be the same as the message was before forwarding except for the added line "Begin forwarded message" (again, unless I edit bits out), and there will be no attached copy of the original message.
So when you say in your reply above "The orginal email with the sender's name and address was also sent with my forwarded email." do you mean:
    a) that it is still visible at the head of the text of the message (which I was saying does not happen for me because "after hitting delete, the previous sender's information disappears." [and since] "it has disappeared, it cannot be in your forwarded mail." Disappeared means it is not there.
    b) another copy of the original message is attached to the forwarded email at the end, either as an included file or as repeated text.
    c) some other situation.
Sorry about the previous mis-spellings! I hope that we can get to the bottom of this.

  • How can I protect DVDs I create in PE from being copied?

How can I protect DVDs I create in PE from being copied? I know that I can't prevent 100%, but would like to stop a majority. Can I apply MACROVISION to my DVDs?

    >cycle redundancy failure
Optical discs are prone to read errors, particularly when finger prints, fluff, etc. get on the reading surface, so redundant information is added in such a way that minor errors can be corrected. If the disc is damaged sufficiently seriously, e.g. a deep scratch running around a track, the error correction system fails to correct the error, and you will be unable to read that file on a computer by normal means. Note that only the last .VOB file that was scratched would be unreadable.
I bought a cheap commercial DVD that had a serious pressing error, causing the movie to jump. Windows explorer failed to read the DVD but I did find a program (forgotten which) which made 10 attempts to read the faulty sector before carrying on. The copied movie then played perfectly (well there must have been a minor glitch where the error was, but I couldn't see it).

  • How to lock apps from being copied/stolen

I haven't put much thought into this before but had a few other Techs. ask me about this.
Is there away to lock down applications from being copied.
For example, how to stop a user from simply dragging MS Office to a thumb drive then take home with them.
I know some apps put the SN# and such info in the library's but this is not hard to get around. A lot of apps are just drag drop apps.
    Is there not a way?
    Thanks,
    Carter

    Hi, Carter.
AFAIK, there's no way to prevent this. Even if you installed the applications on a Mac OS X 10.4 Server volume and used ACLs (Access Control Lists), there's no ACL permission that allows Read while prohibiting "copy." What can be read can be copied, so merely using Read permissions generally won't prevent copying.
You can read about ACLs in the PDF document Mac OS X Server 10.4 File Services (Manual).
This is why so many third-party applications are employing "activation" and "phone home" technologies to assure the license is both valid and running on the computer on which it was originally installed. As one can see from reviewing the information on software piracy published by the Business Software Alliance, these methods are still being circumvented, but they are getting better.
If piracy is an issue in your firm, it should vigorously enforce an anti-piracy "condition of employment," i.e. if someone is found to be stealing apps, they should be fired both immediately and publicly, the latter to set an example that the firm has zero tolerance for piracy.
    Good luck!
