How to prevent invitations from being sent automatically by Siri/iCloud/iCal?

I have recently discovered, through a series of embarrassing events, that when I use Siri to schedule an appointment with someone, that person automatically receives an email from iCloud inviting them to my appointment. I do not even get a prompt asking me if I want to send them an email. These emails are being sent without my knowledge or approval! This can happen with a Siri command as simple as "schedule coffee with John on Friday morning at 10:00." I want to see an appointment in my calendar called "Coffee with John" at the appropriate time. I do not want to see "Coffee with John Doe" (last name added automatically) and have John receive an invitation by email. What setting do I use to change this?

Hello Vtgolfr,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like the Calendar event that you created on your iPhone included your brother's email address. Before saving an event in the future, you may want to check the invitee field to see if his email is being populated by Siri when you create a calendar event.
You can find more information about Calendar invitations in the iOS 8 User Guide:

  • How to prevent songs from being played on iphone 5

I have an iPhone and I'll come across a song that I don't want to hear anymore. I'll delete it off my phone and then when I charge my phone it shows up again!!!
On the desktop iTunes I can "uncheck" a song and it won't be played in iTunes. How do I do the same for my iPhone since delete isn't working?

If you are charging your phone by connecting it to your PC then it is probably doing a sync at the same time (Automatic sync).  This means your deleted songs (from the phone) are being reloaded by the sync. You need to uncheck them from your sync in Music within iTunes

  • How to prevent files from being overwritten in PE7?

On a european tour I took about 1400 photos.  I then downloaded 600 pix from a friends camera (both Canon).  My pix were overwritten by his.  Luckily I have my pix on a thumbdrive.  How can I prevent overwriting photos taken on similar cameras on the same dates from overwriting each other?

Pinning tabs is potentially a great feature but I too have issues with it in it's current state. Specificaly, I don't like how you can navigate away from the pinned domain.
Addition to the suggestion above, what would be great is if pinned tabs were forced to stay in their domain ('''example.com'''/whatever). If you click on a link outside this domain or type another URL in the address bar, a new tab would open.

  • Outlook add in prevents mails from being sent

I have installed iCloud 2.0 on my work PC which works with an exchange account. Intermittenly mails will stay in my outbox and not be sent.
On clicking send, the mail goes to the outbox but doesn't have the proper icon, it still has the "draft" icon and will not send. When I disable the iCloud add-in within outlook, the mails will send fine. Is apple aware if this issue? I read in a few places other people also have the issue and does anyone have a fix for this ?

This is 100% an issue.  Very annoying.  Glad I found this thread.  Thanks.
Here is how to remove the add in:
    http://blog.techhit.com/55637-how-to-find-and-disable-outlook-2010-add-ins-and-p lugins
Disabling unnecessary plugins is a great way to make your Outlook start faster, run more reliably, take less memory. In Outlook 2010 Add-ins are listed under “File Tab->Options->Addins”.
To Disable Outlook 2010 COM Add-ins
Select “COM Add-ins” in the Manage drop-down at the bottom of the ”Options->Addins” window and click “Go”. Note: To get to the Options window, click on the File tab first.
Uncheck any add-ins that you are not using.
    Click OK.
You may have to restart Outlook; although I didn't.

  • How to prevent libraries from being default save location

    Scenario:
Users start IE10 as a published Xenapp Application. From there, they should be able to save pages, etc, but only to a network drive. They have no access to the local computer.
I've succeeded in removing network, Libraries and favorites from the download-dialog. I've also managed to point it to default save path to a network drive. However, the path field in the save-dialog still shows Libraries\Documents. Thus, they can click
on Libraries, and browse, and access it that way. Which they will (trust me), just because they can.
So, why does it insist on referring to Libraries when I've removed all references to them? Anyone have a fix for this?

    Hi,
Have you ever redirected the Documents library to the network drive, or share this library to the network drive? If you have, then remove the document library, test this issue again.

  • How to prevent duplicates from being imported?

Apologies if this question has been asked before, but I can't find exactly the answer I'm looking for in the archives.
I want to import an older version of my iPhoto Library into my current iPhoto Library. Since each library contains photos that the other lacks, I want to merge the two; but I can't find any way to tell iPhoto not to import duplicates (there may be 1000's) from the older version of the library to the newer. Can anybody help?

First, *do not import one library into another.* You will get as original files all thumbnails, modified photos, faces photo as well as the original photos.
If your newer library is a blank library then all you need to do is open the older library with iPhoto 09 and it will convert it to an iPhoto 09 library. Nothing else needed.
If the new library also has photos and you want to merge the two libraries into one (both must be the same version) use iPhoto Library Manager. This will merge the who libraries into a new 3rd library while keeping all metadata, faces, places, keywords and albums. iPLM can be setup to not import duplicates.
If you just want to import selected Events or albums from one library into the other iPLM can do that also.

  • Prevent popup from being moved automatically

    Hi,
    I'm using Jdev 11.1.2.3.
I hava a issue with popup.
Firstly, I move my popup, After then, I scroll down, my popup auto move according to the scrollbar.
I don't want my popup move like that
    Does anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks and best regards!
    Thanh Hoang

    Hi,
you cannot move popups out of the visible view context. If this is the requirement then you need to close the popup or use - better - use e.g. a panel box that you display as part of the page and that you show/hide similar to launching the popup.

  • Can I stop email from being sent?

I have a number of email accounts configured in outlook 2010.
I want to prevent email from being sent via one of the accounts.
    CAN I do this?
    If so How?
I have tried to change the SMTP address to be invalid.
It does not send, and does not give me an error.
When I close outlook it tells me emails have not been sent. I have no idea where these emails r.
When I restart it, it resets the smtp address and sends the email.

    thx for the reply
The problem I am trying to work around is ppl using outlook try to send/reply/fwd emails using those old addresses. Outlook must be configured to rcv mail from clients using those addresses. So if the old email address is set as FROM I want to stop it from
    being sent.
if i set the smtp address to an invalid the test never completes and I can never get to the end of that wizard.
If I go back and look at it it is still the invalid address after I cancel the wizard.
If i try to send mail it appears to do it after a long pause and i can't find the email anyplace -but it is not sent.
If i shut down and restart outlook it is back to the valid address and the mail gets sent.
I have it set only rcv, not send, that address in the group but that doesn't work.

  • How do I prevent my emails from being sent without my hitting the send key. Many of my emails are just "taking off" and sending while I am in the middle of typing. If this is a keyboard shortcut, I must disable it, so how do I do that

Firefox doesn't do email, it's a web browser.
If you are using Firefox to access your mail, you are using "web-mail". You need to seek support from your service provider or a forum for that service.

  • Can I maually check for updates but prevent them from being automatically installed if it turns out one is available?

Can I maually check for updates but prevent them from being automatically installed if it turns out one is available?
    Background:
In options I have "check for updates, but let me choose whether to install them" ticked. This works fine, in that I periodically receive a notice of an available update, and it will ask me whether I want to I want to install it.
But there are certain times -- for reasons I won't go into here (unless requested as part of seeking a solution) -- where I want to manually check for new versions, but RETAIN the ability to decide whether or not to install it. But if I click Help/About Firefox/Check for Updates, and it finds an update, it will immediately proceed to install it without asking for permission. While that seems quite inconsistent with my update preferences in Options, it is apparently normal behavior as described in https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/update-firefox-latest-version#w_how-do-i-manually-check-for-updates.
So is there any way I can manually check for new-update availability but then refuse the update if I so choose? Once an unwanted install begins, I'm concerned that if I click cancel I could end up with a partial installation or some "messed up," duplicated or corrupted FF files (e.g., multiple versions appended with (1), (2) etc, similar to what sometimes confusingly happens when I do an XP System Restore).
    Thanks.

I think what needs to be made very clear here is that when a user clicks on "check for updates" the software should bloody well CHECK for updates and most certainly SHOULD NOT proceed to download and apply any updates. this is misleading and intrusive.
I just wanted to check if there was an updated version but I DID NOT want to actually update at that moment. the software downloaded data, costing me money and tried to apply the update which could have potentially messed up my settings if I had not checked everything was ok first.
I actually discovered how to prevent the update by searching through windows and manually deleting the files but why should anyone have to go to such lengths?
the software should simply do as it is asked, not do things that have most certainly not been asked.

  • I receive numerous messages in "Bulk Mail". Where do they come from and how can I prevent them from being received? Thanks

I receive numerous messages in "Bulk Mail". Where do they come from and how can I prevent them from being received? Thanks

Once you're on a spammer's list, there's nothing you can do to stop the flood of e-mail messages. You can either control it, using spam filtering (which is what files those messages in the Junk Mail folder), or you can throw out your e-mail address and get a new one.
It's sad, but spam is simply a fact of life at this point, and there's nothing to be done about it. Legislation has been tried, with zero success, since most spam either comes from countries with no legislation or from personal computers that have been infected with malware and are part of a "botnet."

  • How to prevent headings from automatically appearing in the doc

    Hi,
I want to generate "printed documentation," in other words a Word file, from RoboHelp. RoboHelp automatically is taking the names of my TOC books and is putting them at the top of each section  in the doc file as a heading (uses the same styles consistently, using Heading 1 at the top level and Heading 2 as a sub level). I don't want this to happen. I didn't see anything about preventing this from happening on the Troubleshooting page.
For the record I am using my own CSS -- in other words the project's CSS -- when creating the doc file. RoboHelp apparently is assigning the heading style to be used in Word.
Can I prevent headings from being automatically created in the doc file, or do I have to remove them manually in the generated .doc?
    Thanks,
    Chris

If your print layout includes the books, then their titles will print.
If you only include topics, the book titles will not be included.

  • How do i prevent history from being cleared? prevent privacy browsing?

How do I prevent privacy browsing and/ or prevent history from being deleted from son's computer?

Note that removing or disabling "Private Browsing" will not make it impossible to delete private data like visited websites (history) or cache.
There are a lot of ways to clear such data, either via [[Clear Recent History]] or directly by deleting the History in the Library or sidebar.
Private Browsing makes it easier because all data is kept in memory and nothing is saved to disk, so nothing needs to be removed.
If you want to see which sites have been visited then you should look at others means outside Firefox like a router or firewall with a password protected logging feature that can't be bypassed or a program like [http://www.wireshark.org/download.html Wireshark].
