How to preview a page in Oracle Portal?
Hi gurus,
I'd like to know if there is anyway to preview a page in Oracle Portal 10g 9.0.4.
Customer needs to preview the page (how it will looks like) before inserting
new contents (image, link, url, item, portlet etc.) in it, so just the page manager
(user or group that has MANAGER access in that page) can see it that time and
no other user can, until the page manager aprove the new format of the page and
"deploy" the page to the user.
Any suggestions on how to do this?
Hi,
I'm afraid there's not a preview option as you describe it. It is something our customers have asked for too, so I'll be happy if somebody knows a decent way to accomplish this. I hope this is included in a future release.
Kind regards.

Automated tool to convert from Forms to Dynamic Page for Oracle Portal?
Hi Experts,
We are thinking to convert majority of the forms in our portal to dynamic pages. Is there any tool to automate the conversion from Forms to Dynamic page for Oracle Portal 9.0.4.1.0?
Thanks, AbbasDear Abbas,
You seem to have two issues... ;-)
If you are finding the Forms are getting corrupt very easily, I'd suggest you go and open a Service Request into Oracle Support (http://metalink.oracle.com). There are a couple of ways where you can have these not corrupted (depeding on the Portal version you are in) and if there isn't yet a way you may get a bug logged and fixed within the next patchset eventually (improving the product functionality).
As to changing it to a dynamic page it might give you a bit more flexibility... yeah. It really depends on what you desire to do. I'd slowly start to code them in this way if your goal is this. As to the former coded forms unfortunately as I've said there isn't a strait way to do that, so you may do this slowly in time...
I hope it helps you a bit further...
Cheers,

How to put links to E-Business suite pages in Oracle Portal
Hi All,
I am looking to create an employee portal using Oracle Portal 11g. One of the requirements is to provide some summary information on, say benefits in the portal and provide a link to the detailed benefits page in e-business suite from there (portal is fully integrated with EBS in our case). Can someone with experience doing this put light on the following :
1. What is the simplest way to provide the links ?
2. Is there any way to make them migration proof ? for example : my link now points to the DEV environment and in the production, it should point to the PROD.
Regards,
VinayakaHi,
This question would probably be better addressed in the E-Business Suite forum at https://forums.oracle.com/forums/category.jspa?categoryID=3 -
How to call a form in Oracle Portal?
I'm trying to call a form from my corporate Oracle Portal. Can anyone advice me how to do it?
Thanks and Regards.Alex,
you are not providing enough information, making it not easy to provide a short answer without going down the whole tree of possibilities.
Case1: You want it appear as a link in Oracle Portal.
a) You can use the "myfavorite" portlet, which is a kind of bookmark list that can be managed by each user individually.
b) you ca create a content area and make it to appear as a type URL. Then you define it as a portlet.
c) You create a HTML page with all the forms links in it and use the URLServices portlet or teh HTML portlet
Case2: You want it to appear within the portal as a portlet.
In this case you choose the URL Services. URL services are a part of the Portal Development Kit and in there a part of the Java Portal Development kit.
It is not recommended to integrate Forms as a Portlet in Portal (CASE2) but to start it from a link (CASE 1) for this reasons:
- http accept-header misses Browser type information information
- Forms startup time slows down portal page startup
- SSO doesn't work straight away
- Forms9i, because based on java 1.3, will reload Forms when reloading the portal page, loosing the application context (this is not yet an issue with Forms6i).
Of course, you can have it working as a portlet and I did it in the past, but it will require some work to do that is not yet documented (and probably never will).
Cheers

How to add Jsp pages into existing portal (JDeveloper 9.0.4)
I am a jsp developer. I have to add a jsp page into existing portal. I am new to portal. Could anyone help me how to develop jsp using portal classes like PortletRenderRequest,ProviderSession and others.
Rigoberto, there should be no space between "-Xbootclasspath/p:" and the path "C:\oracle\infra\jdbc-10.1.0.4\ojdbc14.jar;C:\oracle\infra\jdbc-10.1.0.4\orai18n.jar"
By the way, one can always take a look at the logs at
$ORACLE_HOME/opmn/logs
especially those files whose names start with OC4J~ if there is some wrong with oc4j processes. Those files are the default oc4j stout and sterr. If oc4j can not init, there should be some kind of error message in them.
By the way, the following line may be deleted since no property file is specified.
<data id="oc4j-options" value="-properties"/>
Hope this helps. -
Querying a Worksheet from PL/SQL Dynamic Page in Oracle Portal
Is there a way to actually ask Discoverer to give me a list of values for a report property from outside Discoverer?
In my case, I am trying to add reports to Oracle Portal via the Worksheet Portlet but I want to build a select list that contains valid entries for discoverer to run through the portlet for a discoParameter value. Is there any better way to get the list of values other than running the report's query 2x (once in discoverer to load the report and once in portal to get the list of values)?Hello David,
This is not a feature for Discoverer Portlet but as far as I can see Oracle Portal has Page Parameter Form that migh help in creating dynamic list of values. Please check in MetaLink :
Note.292521.1 How to Create a Page Parameter Form with Dynamic LOV
Once the Parameter has been created, it can be used from Discoverer Portlet too :

hai everybody...
i want to export/import the
Oracle Portal Online Help Content Area
i tried this same as (my own content area
export/import)...but my own content area Pages were worked.....how do i do this..
any help..
thanks in advance
nullThe recommended way is to export the User Manager configuration template out (using the AdminUI), import it into your new enviroment (again using the AdminUI - you have to type the password of the LDAP user in since it is not exported) and then initiating an LDAP Synch.

How to do credential vault in Oracle Portal?
Hi,
How can we do credential vault (allowing portlets to log in to applications outside the realm on behalf of the user--imitating SSO by managing multiple identities for portlets and users) in Oracle Portal ?
Thank you very much for your help.
JeffryYou can use credential vault with 10.1.3 Web Center Integration WCI, or with FMW 11g Web Center.
With FMW 11g, the APIs are mainly available for Web Center but havent seen any references for Oracle Portal 11g.

How to registor database provider in oracleAS portal
hi,
problem occur when i register a database provider into oracleAS portal.i create database provider by using locally built provider in oracleAS portal.
i Register the name of the schema containing the provider implementation and don't no package that implements its functionality.
so i want to create a package please write a code if possible or any documentation related to my problem. Thanks bgrinvalds.
I really start off with an empty BPEL process and check the box says "Create Instance" in the receive activity.
But after I deploy the polling service, it didn't take effect (Once you deploy these processes they will begin polling the table you defined.).
Now, I can insert data into the table through Database Adapter.
But still can't select data from the table through Database Adapter (Above error still happen when invoke the read database table with Database Adapter project).
And I find some examples in this directory: %SOA_HOME%\bpel\samples\tutorials\122.DBAdapter. But after I import these project into JDeveloper, I still can't see the configuration of the Database Adapter in Adapter Configuration Wizard. It's a pity!
