How to preview a .PAT file in Bridge (Photoshop Pattern File)

How can I preview a pattern (.PAT) file in Bridge?  Bridge seems to be able to preview just about anything, but .pat files just show up with a default PS icon.

I don't see that as one of the supported files in Bridge (preferences/file type associations), so would guess you have to live with default icon.

  • Dragging Files From Bridge CC to File System OSX 10.9 (Mavericks)

Looks like many others are finding it impossible to drag and drop  elements from program to program.
I'll join this group of people and say:
I cannot drag files from Bridge CC to a finder window in OSX 10.9.
(I blame fruit over mudbrick on this issue.) Has anyone found a workaround?

If you have a Time Machine backup that is still on Mavericks, use this article to restore it: OS X Yosemite: Revert to a previous OS X version
If you do not have a Time Machine backup, and your computer shipped with Mavericks (meaning when you first received it, it had Mavericks installed), follow these steps to restore your computer to Mavericks (This will result in the hard drive being erased, so backup the data you still need!)
    1. Turn up your computer's volume to the point where you can hear it.
    2. Reboot the computer, and upon hearing the startup chime, press and hold the Command, Option, and R keys.
    3. You should see a spinning globe and your computer will begin starting up from Internet Recovery. Once this happens, let go of the keys you are holding down.
    4. Once it starts up, chose Disk Utility, then Continue.
    5. Chose your startup disk (typically Macintosh HD), then click Erase.
    6. Format it as Mac OS Extended (Journaled), and then click Erase (make sure you have backed up all the data you still need!).
    7. Once it finishes, quit Disk Utility.
    8. Choose Reinstall OS X, then Continue.
    9. Follow the on-screen instructions to install OS X on the disk you just erased.
Hope this helps! Reply if you have any questions or need more help!

  • How do I change the opacity settings for photoshop imported files?

I am importing a series of photoshop files into CS6 Premiere Pro. There is no background color on the photoshop images, and when I preview them in Premiere's import window, the background appears white. Once I import them into premiere, however, the background becomes black.
I read that a completely transparent alpha channel from photoshop is rendered as black in premiere, so I tried placing a plain white image in another video track so that it might change the transparent background to white. It didn't work-- the background if each image is still black.
How can I make a non-existant background layer from my photoshop images appear as white in Premiere, without having to change each file individually?
    Thanks!!!
    Alex

Nevermind-- I figured out that if I modify> interpret footage> ignore alpha channel, and leave the white background on a lower video track, the background appears white!

  • IPhoto files vs. Photoshop Elements files

I am confused by what appears to be two different but related filing systems in these two programs. When I open PSE and browse it goes to date files, (e.g. johnhendrie>pictures>iphotolibrary>2005>11>29>filename). When in iPhoto the same file exists in Library with aliases in any of the folders where I have put it. In iPhoto I see no johnhendrie>pictures>iphotolibrary>2005>11>29>filename. This makes it difficult to find specific photos when working in PSE.
What is the difference between the two methods? I also think, but have not confirmed, that deleting a file from the iPhoto Library does not delete it from the PSE tabulation.
Enlightening comments will be very appreciated

    Hi John,
The iPhoto Library folder in the Finder is organized differently from what you see within iPhoto.
Two Apple kbs for you to read
Don't tamper with files in the iPhoto library folder
    About the iPhoto Library folder
This is a view of how the iPhoto Library looks in the Finder.
It is organized by Year folders. Inside the Year folders are Month folders. Inside the Month folders are the days of the Month. Inside the day folders are the photos you took on that day. If you imported video clips and RAW files on that day they will be in an Originals folder. If you have edited any photo imported on that day, the original will be in that folder also.
You should set up PS Elements as the external editor within iPhoto Preferences. You can then double click an image in iPhoto and it will open in PS Elements. When saving the image with PS Elements make sure the file is flattened and save with the same name. Make sure you do a "Save" and not a "save as".
Deleting a file from within iPhoto will not delete it from the HD until iPhotos trash is emptied.

  • Why do i keep getting "image is missing preview data" when trying to move files from bridge to PS ??

I am not able to move multiple files to PS...regardless whether I am doing HDR or panorama.....get this "image is missing preview data" with the first file number of the series of files.
    #missingpreviewdata

You don't "move" anything from Bridge "into" Photoshop.  You use Bridge to call on Photoshop to come and open the file(s), and Bridge simply hands the files over to Photoshop.
The problem lies in how the files are being processed and saved.
No one can help you until you provide complete and sensible details.

  • How to play back mts files in Bridge CS 5.1?

I figured out that the reason of slow and stuttering playback of my AVCHD clips in Premiere was that I used re-wrapped H.264 files in .mov container. That makes it easy to visualize them in QT or in the Finder, but Premiere cannot play them smoothly. The original .mts files play smoothly in Premiere, but they are not recognized in Bridge. What gives? How can I make Bridge to use the playbacl engine of Premiere so that I can first add metadata and annotations to my clips (in Bridge) and then edit them in Premiere?

yes I second that! It'd be quite helpful to preview MTS files in Bridge - especially since you can't preview them in PPro either!

I have a new  Sony alpha 77ii.  My PS version is 5.0.  When I open the files with Bridge they are .ARW files.  How do I convert them to JPEG's or something I can view and edit?

You can use Adobe's free DNG converter to convert proprietary raws to the universal DNG raw format. Here are the links:
Adobe - Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter : For Windows : Adobe DNG Converter 9.0
Adobe - Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter : For Macintosh : Adobe DNG Converter 9.0
Converting to JPEG will be an extra step afterwards.

  • How to set up a csf file in Bridge from my printer-supplied icc?

We are a small magazine sending PDF files to a printer out of state (printing on a heat-set web press with a newish stocatto system). We are PC using CS2.
We have gotten inconsistent color from our printer using Adobe recommended color settings in CS2, and so our printer has just supplied us with their icc profile. I have loaded it in all apps but do not know how to load it into Bridge so that Bridge says all is synchronized. I have asked our printer for a csf file but they do not have one or know what I am talking about.
Do you have any suggestions? Can I make my own csf file using the new icc profile?

    Dorinda,
the best place for defining color setting files is IMO
Photoshop by Edit > Color Settings.
    Examples:
RGB: sRGB or AdobeRGB(1998) (may be called aRGB).
CMYK: SWOP or ISOCoated or the profile as supplied by
    your printer.
Grayscale: Dot Gain 20% (for Coated) or for instance
Black Ink ISO Coated, which is derived from ISOCoated.
    Never a 'Gamma'.
Spot: widely uncertain, use Dot Gain 20% or Black Ink
    ISO Coated.
The settings can be saved in Photoshop by an understan-
    dable filename, for instance by:
    aRGB-ISO-20-20.csf
In Bridge simply load this file for synchronisation,
especially if local settings in Photoshop, InDesign or
    Illustrator were changed.
For Acrobat I would rely more on actual local settings.
For instance, a document's output rendering intent can
    override working spaces.

  • Can't preview RAW files in Bridge CC, administrator issue?

Can't preview RAW files in Bridge CC.
When i try to upate Bridge, it says:
Bridge is unable to check for updates, cause it can't connect to the internet or user is logged in as a non-administrative user.
So then i have to log in as a administrative user to the Bridge...and update..
    Can't it be done easier???
I must also say i have also Bridge CS6 installed on pc and there everything is working fine.
    Thx.

1/ Adobe Bridge should be possible to open without administrator issue.
By default it does, something seems wrong with your install
2/the images DO appear first for 2 or 3 seconds , then it turns to a RAW file icon.
Again indicating a wrong install, you see the embedded jpeg previews briefly but then the Raw thumbs should be build. When you see the generic Raw icon this means you don't have the correct version of the ACR plug in installed to match your camera or no converter at all.
    Try this page:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
3/i only succeed in openening Bridge descently , so with ableing to see RAW files , WHEN i go to c:/progamfiles/Adobe/AdobeBridhecc/Bridge.exe
When, If i copy the exe file for opening Bridge CC and i put it on the Desktop, it DOES NOT Preview the RAW files.
Here you have lost me. As a Mac user I'm afraid I don't know nor understand anything about .exe, I download the .dmg file for an application which then automatically opens and I just click on the install icon, provide admin password and serial number once and then start using it without bothering about install ever again
