How to print A5 doc on A4 paper (to be folded)

I've set up a document with A5 pages, facing left and right, to be printed in landscape on A4. In the +Page Thumbnails+ display the first page is alone on the right, then the pages beneath are adjacent in pairs - this is correct and how I want the printed document to look when I print and then fold it. (So page one needs to be on the right hand side of the A4 sheet with a blank on the left.)
However, when I print or save as a PDF, the first page now moves over to the left and all subsequent pages shift up so the alignment for printing a booklet is lost.
Please can you suggest a solution?
Many thanks,
Mancunius

The re-pagination to create a booklet is not available "out-of-the-box" in Pages, but you can do it. There are a few ways to do this. The first two involve setting your Pages document in File > Page Setup… to landscape orientation. I originally wrote this for Pages 2. In Pages 3, use the page layout mode for #s 1a & 1b.
1a - Use linked text boxes. This is easier done with the layout showing. First you need to add a page break to have two pages. Click in the body area & then Insert > Page Break. Now click outside the layout area to enter object mode & click the "T" in the tool bar or Insert > Text to create a text box & type something in it. This is to keep the box from disappearing if you click elsewhere & the text can be replaced later. If you already have some text to paste in you can just paste while in object mode & a text box containing your text will be created. You will now need to click outside the layout again & drag the cursor toward the text box to select it. You can now position the first text box in the lower right of your 2-page document. It is easier to see where it goes if you have the document set up with 2 columns. Click on the blue-outlined tab at the lower right of the text box to create a new of the same size & move the box to the upper left. Repeat for a box for the upper right & again for the lower right. You will now have 4 linked text boxes.
1b - Start as in 1a creating a 2-page document with 2 columns in landscape orientation. For this one you will use the body text area. Just type or paste your text in as normal, starting in the upper left. When you have your text done, cut all of the text in the first column (upper left), insert a column break after the last character on the now lower left column & paste the cut text after it in the now lower right column.
Neither one of these will let you automatically use page numbers because Pages "sees" each page & you actually have 2 pages per page. Page numbers would have to be created manually using text boxes or manually entering the number at the bottom of each page.
2 - Use Cocoa Booklet to create a booklet with any number of pages (best in a multiple of 4). This is my preferred method.
I suggest you leave feedback for the Pages team regarding this. You can find it under the Pages menu > Provide Pages Feedback. That takes you to the same page as this link.

  • How to print photobook pages into A4 paper

    how do we print the photobook pages we made from Aperture after saving as PDF format. The PDF file when open in Adobe PDF is showing each single page only and it does not show 2 pages spread out like we saw in the Aperture photobook layout. do i need to use another program to do the layout beofre printing out in an A4 paper? I intent to do a layflat photobook which require the sticking of the pages for binding later. someone pleeas help. thank you.

    I have give a several try to your new instruction but the gap is there no matter how i set the paper size. I gave an example of this page layout of 2.5in x 2.5 in . If i read your article correctly , my total page size is suppose to be 5inx5in.
    Just look at the image and i had try out 2 custom setting in the paper size . You will notice the difference of these two layout after i open the preview for PDF.
    the first one, the paper size remain as original as it is (2.5inx2.5in per page) .The image is pretty close side by side but the gap can still noticeable.
    The second image is using your instructions earlier (When you export your book define a custom paper size that is exactly the size of two pages of your open book. That you define in the "Manage Custom Sizes"-entry of the "Paper Size" selector of the Print panel) - the result = it shrank to smaller size and left a huge gap in between those image. The paper size was set as 5inx5in per page.
    Thanks again but still not resolve.

  • How to print red color in plain paper?

    When printed on glossy papers, red color (in photo or text) looks great.
    When I print on non-photo, plain papers, red color came out brownish.
    I tried on premium ink jet papers, it does not print red but in brown color.
    How can I print red color in plain paper?

    When dealing with printing ink, R=100m+100y+0c+0k. What drives the color toward rust, maroon, and brown is the addition of c to the mix. That may be the result of the diffuse reflection of the uncoated paper surface, its absorb rate, the ink chemistry and – the light source. Since the easiest variable to test is the light source, look at that color using a source weak in blue emission, incandescent light, and watch the red shift. Remember also that the reflected color will never be as bright as paper it is printed on. Each ink film is a filter subtracting light from the paper reflection.
    Shown above (with a mode change to RGB for the purpose of this display) is its version of 100 each of m+ y  and a patch with the unwanted c

  • How to print onto a legal size paper

    I'm trying to print a document sent to me as an original PDF 8.5 x 16 document onto a legal size page (8.5 x 14).  I don't have the advanced skills necessary to print in Adobe beyond the basics, and don't have the time to take a course or read the confusing help instructions (e.g., "tiling", "scaling").  I'm hoping someone on this board can simply tell me how to print this document step-by-step.  I have Windows XP with Acrobat Pro 9.0
    Your assistance is greatly appreciated!

    Using AA9, these are the steps I just used to create a 8.5X14 page from another PDF (Note: any bookmarks and links will be lost and would have to be replaced):
    1. Opened the PDF in Acrobat.
    2. Select FILE>Print
    3. Select the Adobe PDF printer.
    4. Select printer properties.
    5. On Adobe PDF Settings tab, you may select the press (Press Quality) or print (High Quality Print) job options.
    6. On either of the other tabs select the Advanced button.
    7. Under Paper/Output>Paper Size, select Legal.
    8. OK back to the print menu and select Page Scaling=>Fit to Printable Area.
    9. OK to print -- select the file name and location, hopefully with successful results. (I checked the PDF I created from a Letter size and it was 8.5X14)

  • How to print on both sides of paper

    I have HP 3050A wireless printer. How to print on both sides of paper

    This printer does not do auto duplexing. The only way to print on both sides of the page is to print one side, put the paper back in manually, and then print the next page. If you have something say 10 pages long, you can also print only odd pages, then only even pages tospeed it up.

  • How to print a doc using  Reader 11.0.3.37

    I am unable to print a document using Adobe Reader 11.0.3.37.
    Any ideas about how to do so?

    When I try to print the doc, I selected the particular doc to print (copy), the ckicked on to "view document", and a gray screen populates without any graphics.
    The error message that I got, after one try, was to the effect that a problem existed in my security set-up.
    I checked the security system software file and read that the Adobe Reader was installed and "running", yet I have not discovered what I need to do to get a print of the doc.

  • How to print equipment documents in shop paper

    Hi Gurus,
    I`ve maintain DMS to some of the equipments and those were scheduled in maintenace plans.SO whenever work order gets created based on the schedule....documents should also automatically get printed along wih the shop paper.
    This is my requirement because users dont want to spend time on printing the documents manually.
    Any user exits ?
    Help would greatly appreciated with rewards.
    Regards,

    Vijay,
    We did something similar but in user-exit IWO10009 (at save).
    The reason for using this user-exit and not the BADI described above is because we required a popup box displaying the options for printing. The user could then choose which documents to print.

  • How to print Header page from Tray1 paper and Items page from Tray2 paper

    Hi,
      I have requirement to print the Header data from Tray1 paper and Item details data from Tray2 paper,it should autometically pick paper from Tray1&Tray2...?
    Thanks in advance....

    Hi,
    You can do this by calling the url of the page with the form. You can then use p_arg_names and p_arg_values to pass parameters. In the called form you can get the value from p_arg_names and p_arg_values and assign it to the form field.
    You can call this code in the success procedure of the calling form.
    declare
    v_id number;
    blk varchar2(10):='DEFAULT';
    v_url varchar2(2000);
    Begin
    v_id:=p_session.get_value_as_number (p_block_name=>blk,p_attribute_name=>'A_ID');
    v_url := <page_url>;
    if v_id > 0 then
    call(v_url||'&p_arg_names=id&p_arg_values='||v_id);
    end if;
    End;
    In the called form in "Before displaying form" plsql section write this code.
    for i in 1..p_arg_names.count loop
    if p_arg_names(i) = 'id' then
    p_session.set_value(
    p_block_name => blk,
    p_attribute_name => 'A_ID',
    p_value => p_arg_values(i)
    end if;
    end loop;
    This code picks up the value from p_arg_values and assigns it to the form field.
    Hope that helps.
    Thanks,
    Sharmila

  • How can I print a doc from my iPhone 4S to a Lexmark Interpret S405 printer with WiFi? Thanks!

    How can I print a doc from my iPhone 4S to a Lexmark Interpret S405 printer with WiFi? Thanks!

    Unfortunately you need an airprint enabled printer to print from an iOS device. There are some work arounds but they are very complicated and aren't proven to work 100%. From what I understand through rumors they are working on allowing all wireless printers to work with iOS but at the moment that's a pipedream. I don't know how important it is but if you really need to print from iPhone you can find some great AirPrint printers on Ebay for decent prices. Good Luck!

    Well, the ability to convert the pdf to html and then to PDF is a worthy solution.
    10,000 emails would require a batch convert solution.
    This is very much beyond what I know. I'll have to leave this to better minds.
    I could suggest a third party tool. Have a look at this:

    Other than that,I can't think of anything else.

    "Photo tray"?  What do you mean here?  The iPhone does not have a photo tray.  Printers have trays.
